2.5 stars but i’ll round up to 3.
ehhh.. this had potential to be something really good. and it does start off decent! and besides the nickname, i was liking it. (also me not liking the nickname is definitely for personal reasons! it’s not the authors fault by any means.) but then around the 80% mark, this book went extremely downhill for me personally. i genuinely don’t even understand what just happened? it was all so random and had nothing to do with the original plot. i’m assuming this ending is setting up future books but i had to re-read the last chapter and im still confused. idk maybe it’s just me!!
anyways tbh i just wanted something short to read before bed. this definitely was a quick read.
i personally would not recommend this book to people but if you do see this review: i’m a firm believer in reading books and forming your own opinions. so do not let my review stop you from reading this.

This was a really fun read. I loved the MMC, the spice, second chance. Loved the fast pace. The story line though was jumpy. One minute we are reading about a cat & mouse hunt, then a revenge of the ex plot to now we are engaged and then all of a sudden homegirl is adopted and discovers a human trafficking ring that her dad's involved with. It was just all over the place. It was still fun & enjoyable to read though.

I liked the story but the writing style was a bit jarring and took away from the immersion, quite a few grammatical errors that had me needing to reread the sentence trying to work it out.

Wow! What a way to start my Halfway to Halloween reads because this was exactly what I was needing right now! The lovers to enemies to lovers plot was enticing, as we really got to understand what went wrong with this meant for each other couple in the first place and how they’re going to resolve it. The spice was 🔥🔥🔥 and I was living for it. As a first time read by the author, it was an absolute banger and I’m looking forward to her future releases.

Autumn thought she was in a serious relationship with a man she was in love with. But when she attends a party to meet up with him, she notices he’s engaged in conversation with another woman. As the night progresses, she has a feeling that someone is watching her. In a house full of people, she feels like someone from her past is there. And when it’s time for the annual Halloween game and her man disses her for the other chick, she may get her chance to find out her past fling, Heath, has arrived and what are his intentions with her.

I loved Autumn. Even though she was heavily walked on all over by Cole, she overall won because if she stayed with him, she would have ended up miserable. I have added Heath to my ever-growing list of book boyfriends because even through his unhinged personality, he was still more worried about her well-being, even after their relationship ended the first time. You can tell there was still tension between them, as if they hadn’t truly had closure from each other that really made their chemistry stronger. And the spice scenes were absolutely HOT! As for Cole, he can go rot on a cliff. Disgusting human being with no emotions.

So now I’m just stuck here with my jaw on the floor, waiting to find out what is going to happen next with these two! So many questions… This was a first time read by the author but definitely not my last!

This novella is a story about Autumn and Heath. They were college sweethearts but after Autumn broke up with heath, because she fell in love with Cole, heath was heartbroken. So he wants to let here feel the same pain as she gave him after they broken up.
This all comes together at a party in town at hallows eve, were heath is wearing a mask, during the hallows eve maze game.
In this book is dual pov but also dual timeline, with flashback to the start of there relationship.
I do like the writing and there is more happening in the book to give some more background to the character's, but I do think that there is a lot happening at the end and had to read back to get everything. But maybe it was just because i was tired.
For now i liked the story and I'm curious what will happens in the next book.

Autumn has broken up with her first love and high school boyfriend a year ago. She broke his heart. And now she just found her boyfriend cheating on her. But on Hallows Eve he decides it is time to come back and claim her.
Heath fell for Autumn back in high school and has loved her ever since. She doesn’t know it, but he’s always been around and leaving little gifts behind. Now that’s she is single again, it’s time for him to get his revenge on her for breaking his heart.
These two had an electric connection that never really faded. Autumn thought maybe the grass was greener on the other side, but she found out quickly that is not the case. She was meant for Heath. And then they uncovered some very dark secrets of Grimstone.

Heath is so fucking caring – a little psycho, but overall a cutie?? Like, he might have drugged Autumn, but it was kind of a good cause, and the way he needs to look after his dad? Tears gathered in my eyes.
Autumn, my girl, I just love her so much. She was smart, kind and sassy all in one, and I loved that. The Cole story kind of pissed me off, like, a lot, but we move past that!
I might come back and change things in the review when I'm feeling better, but for now enjoy some of my favourite lines in the book!

This story was soo cute! (I mean as cute as a masked st@lker with a tarantula can be). Although Heath has a dark side, he’s also such an affectionate lil golden retriever sweetheart, and I was rooting for him the whole time!
Can I say that Maya may have been one of my favourite characters in this hahaha! She was a side character but she was allllllll kinds of fun and badass 😈

This one had so much potential! The Halloween atmosphere, the masked revenge, the tension between Autumn and Heath. ALL of the right ingredients for a dark, spooky romance.
But it did feel rushed. I wanted more time to really fall into the chaos between them, to feel that burn a little longer. The ending, though… it kind of went completely off track and left me more confused than satisfied. It almost felt like the story was building toward something big and then swerved at the last second.
Still, it was a quick novella moody read that fits perfectly with the Halloween season — steamy, atmospheric, and just dark enough to keep you reading. 🎃🖤

This book was very enjoyable and it had a great plot but I'm only giving it 4 stars as I felt like lots of items and important parts of the story were rushed over. This was just a novella but it seemed like they were trying to fit a full length story line into a short novella. I enjoyed the story and it definitely kept pulling me in and wanting to read more and the way it ended I'm already waiting for the next book to come out. It was well written and I absolutely love the nickname Freckles now. I need book 2 to come out like right now because I need some answers.

This book was nothing what I was expecting. AT ALL! I was expecting a lot of angst and heartbreak, which we do get, but there is intrigue, secret society, kidnapping and human trafficking, and a walking red flag. I love the FMC very much, but girl, you gotta be alone for awhile to find yourself. Because Heath is bulldozing you right now that you can’t see the flashing red neon lights yelling RED FLAG! RED FLAG! 🚩 I like Heath but that boy needs to chill out. They may have had a relationship before, but she just had a nasty breakup. Learn to just be her friend dude.

I liked this. She's a new to me author & this is Heath & Autumn's story. It was a short & quick read. They were together for a long time & she breaks up with him & that starts a lot of stuff. He wants her to feel the same pain; he makes some choices that affect her. She really never got over him & loved the spice! Recommend this novella & author!
