In Memoriam
Ruthless mega-corporation Lightbar, with a mechanized madman at its helm, has driven China’s working class to the edge of desperation—exploited, discarded, and cast aside, they see The Uprising as their only hope. When a kinetic energy bomb incinerates the heart of the resistance, it leaves millions dead, the city of Xi’an in ruins, and its survivors shattered. The flame of revolution fizzles to a spark.
Robert Lilly, a low-ranking soldier who can communicate with machines, refuses to let the revolution die. With only his wits and a small squad of loyal soldiers, he sets out to dismantle Lightbar’s most powerful weapon.
But war doesn’t reward heroes. Hunted by a relentless cyborg, betrayed by those he trusts, and haunted by the ghosts of those he couldn’t save, Robert questions if he’s fit to lead or if he’s carving the path to his own destruction.
As the lines between man and machine blur, how much will Robert have to sacrifice to save humanity before there’s nothing human left of him?
The Uprising must succeed—but at what cost?

Did not expect to get this hooked—but here I am, fully invested in Robert Lilly’s journey.
This is a gritty, high-stakes dystopian thriller that hits hard. The world is brutal, the villains are terrifying (hello, cybernetic nightmare fuel), and the emotional depth? Way deeper than I expected.
Robert’s ability to communicate with machines sounds cool on the surface, but the weight he carries—and the cost of fighting back—makes this story way more human than I thought it’d be.
If you like dark sci-fi, broken heroes, and fast-paced action with heart, this one’s for you.
Can’t wait to finish it.

Hope dashed but rises through the ashes like a phoenix.
I loved the opener, with the kinetic weapons shattering Robert Lilly's worldview. Seeing how this strengthens his resolve, he forges ahead with the hope of making a difference, no matter the cost to himself. Backed by his team of fellow genetically modified savant survivors, they labor against the corporate enemy and their cyborg soldiers in a land far away from their own. Laced through its mirroring of today's world, yet heavy with the boot prints of a small conflict that feels global, I was invested, and the outcome is worth it.
I am looking forward to the next Savant Uprising novel by Lyndsie Clark!
