This is a beautiful book of images that combines short pieces of Scripture and art inspired by the St. John's Bible. It isn't a reproduction of any part of the St. John's Bible itself (which is what I thought it was at first). This isn't a criticism, though! The book is amazingly produced and very beautiful.

The *ESV Reader's Bible* has a beautiful lay out that reads like a novel. The verse numbers have been removed from the text and chapter numbers are sidelined. This lay out makes reading longer sections of Scripture a new experience for me. I didn’t think numbers, headings, and footnotes would have been that distracting, but with them gone, I do find myself lingering with the text itself a little longer. And that’s been a goal of mine.

My cloth-over-board copy is a simple looking book, similar to a classic novel and without gilded edges (which I’d appreciate for all Bibles — say no to gaudy).

If reading longer sections of Scripture is a goal of yours and you’d like to read in the ESV, I recommend this Bible.
