Starfire: Veil of Fire Book 3

Rate this book
I defied the darkness multiple times. Now, it has followed me home.

After days of running, fighting, and exhausting every imaginable way to stop Shadowfall, Titania has fallen once more into the grasp of the Master of Nightmares. He told her to run, but she wasn’t fast enough. Despite that, he is no longer the greatest threat.

From the deepest void, something older has awakened. A queen born of pure shadows has risen, casting even the Master of Nightmares into her thrall. Her power is unspoken. Her hunger is endless. And she has only one extinguish the light.

In Dreamworld, where shadows bleed, Titania’s dearest friend forges a surprising alliance to hunt for the primary source of the darkness to turn the tide. But with Shadowfall upon them and an ancient evil devouring what little hope remains, destinies collide.

As realms unravel and pacts break, one question can Titania hold back the dark tide, or will the Nightmares finally devour the light she was born to protect?

🖤 2 🌶️
🖤 HEA!!!!

(Spoiler-free as always 💋)
First and foremost, this is my favorite book in the series. What a ROLLERCOASTER of emotions, and SO MANY twists in the plot, I kept gasping and having to take small breaks to wrap my brain around it all; in the BEST WAY. What an INCREDIBLE story.
After reading where this story came from and why the author started writing it in her foreword, I had a small meltdown. Writing from your heart and from vulnerable situations from life is so hard and I absolutely love that she was able to take that pain and hardship and create such a magical, inspiring, sexy yet uplifting and powerful story for others.

I am incredibly honored to be offered all three books from this series as an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review. And my honest opinion is to go pick up all three books and read them all until the end so you can experience the magic. 🖤✨

Wow. Soo much happened in this final book. I wasn’t sure my heart could take anymore. The ending was a little unfulfilling. I got some closure yes, but I think I wanted a little bit MORE ya know? Oh! And the twist I didn’t see coming. I don’t exactly TRY to figure things out, I just go with the reading flow and man I open mouth gaped while reading said twist lol I’m happy I got to read the trilogy as ARCs, they were beautiful and so creative!

Going into Starfire after the devastating end of Shadowfall, I had high expectations. C.K. Franziska’s prose remains one of my favorite aspects of this series, characterized by its softness, lyricism, and emotional charge. Her writing wraps you up in the world like a spell. But while the emotional core of Titania and Balor’s story remains strong, the pacing in this final book felt more uneven. It doesn’t pick up where Book Two left off, which made me feel like I’d missed something important. Della’s chapters didn’t work for me, and the story took a long time to find its rhythm.

That said, once it does—around 60% in—it delivers. The emotional weight hits unexpectedly, and Starfire manages to land its final notes with grace. The ending made me cry in the best kind of way. If you love fantasy romance books with slow-burn relationships, rich worldbuilding, and poetic storytelling, this is a series worth finishing.

Okay, I had a day to process this book.

This book...the final book in the Veil of Fire series is everything!!!

The twists and turns, the heartbreak, the surprise couple (I see you!). And the ending.....I find myself wishing that the author would continue the series to see what happens with the world after everything is resolved.

Starfire is the final book in the Veil of Fire series, and it picks up right where the last one left off. The readers are in for a wild ride with this last book. I hope you enjoy the journey as much as I did.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an ARC copy of this book!!

🌟 NON-SPOILER REVIEW – 5/5 STARS

I'M NOT OKAY. I WILL NEVER BE OKAY.
This book?? This masterpiece??? Starfire tore me apart, rebuilt me, shattered me again, and then kissed my forehead while I sobbed on the floor. I was dropped right into the tension from page ONE, and the way this book moves—I couldn’t breathe. The POVs? Genius. The tension? RAZOR SHARP. The lore? SO RICH I ACTUALLY FELL IN. 🥲💔

The emotions? Crawled into my chest and made a home.
The visuals? BREATHTAKING.
The twists? They snapped my spine.
The ending?? Devastating. Gorgeous. Earned.
Everything, EVERYTHING in this book was so perfectly set up—it all clicked and I genuinely feel hollow knowing I’ll never read it again for the first time 😭

If you’ve ever loved stories about darkness and light, power and pain, sacrifice and love—PLEASE READ THIS SERIES. Especially this book. Especially this finale. I NEED a hardcover. I NEED this printed in gold. I NEED therapy.

C.K. Franziska, if you ever see this: You destroyed me. Thank you. I am forever haunted and healed by your words. 🕊️

⚠️ SPOILERS⚠️
⚠️ SPOILERS⚠️
⚠️ SPOILERS⚠️

Starfire aka the book that BROKE ME. REBUILT ME. THEN BROKE ME AGAIN AND LAUGHED WHILE DOING IT 😭🔥✨

From the very first page, I was THROWN into tension and chaos and emotion and I haven’t recovered since. The mirror room? THE LORE?? THE POVS?? The fact that the chains on the cover AND THE PHOENIX actually made sense by the end??? NO WORDS. My heart was SCREAMING the whole time 🥀🩶🪞🕊️

Titania’s journey... the sacrifice... the rebirth... I was sobbing. SOBBING. The way she gave up everything and it STILL wasn’t enough? And then she was reborn in that insanely earned moment??? TEARS WERE SHEDDDD 😭🫧

BALOR AND RAVOC. MY BOYS. 🖤🗡️
The way they would burn the world for her?? THE FINAL BATTLE?? I WAS BREATHLESS.
The lightning??? That LIGHT is still LIGHT EVEN IN THE STORM???
CK I SEE YOU WITH THAT SYMBOLISM YOU GENIUS 😤⚡🪬

DELLA BEING DELLA. SNAPPING. SURVIVING.
And Milow… had a mini crush ngl but he broke my trust being all logical when Titania was dead LIKE??? EMOTION PLEASE. 😭💔

AND LET’S TALK ABOUT THE BETRAYALS.
CUT. ME. TO. SHREDS.
Ezra? Silas? THE VESSEL AND THE CHILD?
WHO GAVE YOU PERMISSION TO DESTROY ME WITH THAT TWIST 😭🔥

The Queen. The final fight. The fear. The hope. THE PAYOFF.
CK put my soul in a blender, added glitter and pain, and served ✨bittersweet perfection✨ on a phoenix-feather platter.

AND THEN SHE HAD THE NERVE TO DO AUTHOR CREDITS??? I thought it was over. I was mourning. Then flipped the page—FALSE ALARM. SHE GOT ME. My blood pressure is not okay 😭📈

I will NEVER forget this series. EVER. Starfire is a PHENOMENAL, unforgettable, sob-inducing masterpiece and my favorite of the entire Dreamworld series. I need the physical copies NOWWWWW 😭😭😭

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

📌 To C.K. Franziska:
You ruined me. And I love you for it. I have NO words except—thank you. You created something immortal here. I’ll never get over it.
Not even gonna try. 🥹🖤 You’ve officially destroyed me for all future books. Starfire was everything—soul, chaos, beauty, PAIN. Thank you for giving us this world, this lore, these characters who live in my head rent-free. Thank you for letting me walk alongside Titania, Balor, Ravoc, and everyone else who now owns pieces of my heart. This finale was everything it needed to be—no, MORE. You’ve made magic. You’ve made art. I’m not okay… and I love you for it 🕊️💫 (as always)

I've finished reading 'Starfire' written by C. K. Franziska. This is the third (dark) fantasy book in the 'Veil of Fire' series.

"There's no saving darkness. Only remembering it when it fades."

This series is really amazing and unique. I've enjoyed it so much and I'm really sad that this is the end. Besides almost mindblowing plot twists, are there also some actual surprises at the end of the book!! I'm definitely not lying when I say that every fantasy lover needs to read this series!

"Charging in and getting yourself killed isn't a plan--it's an emotional reactions. And it's a bad one."

This story is about Titania, her best friend and her goal(s). This story is also about Ravoc, Balor, Balor's brothers, friends and the Kingdom. They are part of a fierce and deadly fight against pitch black darkness. Will the fight ever end?

"I've learned that even if we fail again, it won't be because we gave up. It'll be because we fought until there was nothing left."

This book, like the other two, is written very strongly. Franziska has made sure that there would be both character development as an unraveling story. I couldn't find out what would happen next or where the story would end. She has also built a strong and vivid world to let her story play out in.

"Everything end eventually. Even Nightmares."

This series has made me a big fan of Franziska and I will definitely read the stories that are to come and have come before. This story is truly one worth reading and I will definitely re-read it in the future. I give 'Starfire' five stars.

I was not expecting it to go down the way that it did. I remember catching the ending of shadowfall and rereading (the ending chapter) twice because of the twist and or surprise of it all that I didn't catch. but it didn't end there. plot twists, surprises galore in Starfire. I've rated all three books as five stars, but as the trilogy finisher ....if I could give it more than five I would.

Nova has remained my favorite character throughout this series, gaining Milow and Della and Balor along the way. (but who am I kidding all of the characters were and are phenomenal...loving Zade, Silas and Dade also. ) I just like how realistic and real they feel- even the nightmares.

five stars for the writing, pacing and all of that jazz (lol)
five stars for well rounded characters
five stars for the character growth and development as well as the plot twists
the ending of goodness .....
I like what you did there ..I won't spoil it here (as an arc reader it was.... heart wrenching....but ultimately fulfilling)

I would recommend this to everyone who loves a good story, because it's a great story with great elements has lovely lore, monsters/nightmares, magic, fantasy elements, the little bit of spice, and romance, that adds to but doesn't take away from the story.

again.... 5 star read. I really enjoyed it.

So I ARC read books 2 and now the final book 3 in this series. I loved the first two books but book three has my heart. This series is unlike other books I have read. It’s darkness and light like other books but with such a unique twist that it truly stands out.
But just speaking on book 3, Milow was one of my least favorite characters from the first two books, and he was one of my favorites in this one. Nova always shines even in her darkness. Della was a strong character who could hold her own, until she allowed her vulnerability to show, which honestly made her so lovable.
Ravoc fighting his own darkness was an awesome bridge between worlds. And the whole story line of Titania about being able to survive alone but never really living was such a good life lesson.
Overall, this is by far my favorite book in the series but the series itself is amazing and unique.

This is it. The end of the line. Heliosia is on the brink of obliteration, Shadowfall is happening. Balor and Ravoc are both fighting for control, and against the Queen, who needs Titania gone. Titania is fighting for the world, as she always has. But it’s different this time, this time it must be over, truly over. But it will take the ultimate sacrifice.

I LOVED this book. First five star read of the year. It was the perfect ending to the story. Impossible to see coming, but I wouldn’t have changed a bit of it. It was perfect. Each of the characters held a special place in my heart. Each twist was the perfect surprise. And the author really plays your emotions at the end. You’ll just have to read it!

This is the third and final book in the Veil of Fire series. I’m so grateful to have been chosen to be one to ARC read all three books! ❤️

This series is something else. It has a special world, it differs from many books that are popular at the moment and is very well written. It’s kind of like a fresh breath and feels like a story you haven’t read before. 😉
I’ve laughed and cried through them all! I loved the characters. I can not recommend this series enough! It’s not overly spicy, but you get som drizzles here and there. It’s totally worth the wait!

If you enjoy books with a great story and worldbuilding that includes monsters/nightmares, some spice, romance, magic and fantasy elements this will be the perfect read for you! 🥰

Short Summary:

🩶 The heart wrenching conclusion to the Veil of Fire trilogy follows the group as they try to prevent darkness from overtaking the world.

Best Parts:

🩶 The chemistry
🩶 The conclusion
🩶 The twists

Worst Parts:

🩶 The conclusion
🩶 Children. That’s all I’ll say

This was a great conclusion. The intrigue was there. The plot was there. Despite being book three, the character development was still there. And the last 20% or so had me on the edge of my seat. The series as a whole was well worth the read, and this final installment did NOT disappoint.

I’m not surprised we got another 5 🌟read.

I’m flabbergasted on how all this came together . I yelled and cursed (a lot) I laughed (briefly). I was bamboozled with the twists and turns I did not see coming. I cried, oh how I cried (real ugly crying).

The ultimate heartwarming moment that was created about 90% of the way in (around page 386) was chefs kiss and I love C.K. Franziska for all her hard work she puts into her writing 🤗 and for making me feel all my emotions 😄

I give it 4.25 ⭐️

This is my favorite in the series. The emotions, anger, frustration, longing, sorrow, the pacing, the atmosphere, it's all there and it hit just right. The characters are just as lost as you sometimes feel yourself, and yet so strong. It’s dark and absolutely beautiful. And some things… well, if you know, you know. CK Franziska, my blood pressure does not thank you. But I do. A great ending to a great trilogy.

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your team. 🌺❤️

This conclusion was EVERYTHING you didn’t know you needed for Titania’s finale! The angst and excitement was chef’s kiss.

I cannot spoil anything but damnit I wanna own this whole series and once I get my emotions back down I will add a full review! I’m considering buying the special edition hardcover with the full trilogy in it. And I never buy special editions or hardcover books?!

(May need to reread this whole series as I am sure I’ve missed nuances! Every detail matters)

This book was a lot, but it was the final piece to the trilogy. Multiple POVs, an HEA, and plot twists all combined to conclude this epic storyline. There were some parts to make you laugh, some parts to tug at your heart and some parts that made you just have to stop reading. This book was so so good.
