This is a deeply insightful and well-researched exploration of one of humanity’s most profound questions — the relationship between faith and science. The author skillfully weaves together diverse topics such as biology, evolution, climate change, and human behavior, illuminating how scientific understanding and spiritual belief can both challenge and complement each other.

What makes this book particularly compelling is the creative dialogue between the “Scientific Self” and the “Religious Self.” Each presents thoughtful, balanced, and rational perspectives that invite readers to reflect on their own views rather than taking sides.

While the book primarily frames God within the traditions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, a future edition that expands to include perspectives from Eastern and African spiritual philosophies could make the discussion even richer.

Ultimately, the book conveys a powerful message: God is not a hypothesis to be tested, but the infinite, ungraspable essence of all existence — while science, ever-evolving, continues to reveal the many ways this mystery expresses itself. A more fitting title might even be The Absolute and the Relative, capturing the eternal dance between what we can know and what forever transcends our understanding.

In the book "GOD is not a Hypothesis," the author examines subjects such as evolution, gender, biology, creation, and others from both a religious and scientific perspective. A debate ensues between the "Religious Self" and the "Scientific Self" regarding these topics. "Religion" encompasses Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, with a notable preference for the teachings of the Quran. "Science" is presented from the teachings of Darwin, Einstein, Coyne, and others. The book tackles difficult and pertinent questions and serves to bridge science with religion to show how they complement each other. It also exposes limitations of both science and religion. Personal stories and reflections by the author add an interesting element. Readers will gain new perspectives from this book.

I have to give this author 5 stars… it was an incredibly well researched book, with so much detail that I fould myself drifting off topic a few times, thinking deeply about the particular argument or viewpoint that was being made. This book was so well documented, I also found myself drilling down into the research the author was referencing to support his viewpoints.

I particulary enjoyed the opposing views offered by the author’s scientific vs religious dialogues. This was a ingenious way of offering opposing perspectives to the particular topic at hand.

I was drawn to the book as I have followed Professor Dawkins arguments and his books and have also reviewed a number of Dr Peterson’s perspectives. The book did not dissapoint.

This book needs to be read and studied, which is not the way I approached it. It was a bit critical of the Christian and Jewish Bibles and a little more lenient with the Quran. The comparison between science and religion was interesting. This would be interesting for a book club that enjoys debating.
