Separated: A YA science fiction romantasy

Rate this book
True love can never die—they can only be Separated for some time.

City of Alcetra, Mars. 3079. Virginia Dale, nearly seventeen this year, finds herself trapped because of a law that unfortunately applies to her. Against her logic and with some supernatural nudging, she travels to a city on the other side of the planet, where she meets Korbin Xander and discovers that he is more than just an aloof and troubled young man. Korbin, too caught up in escaping his own prison, doesn’t see the clues that could lead him to more than just an escape route. In a race for time, Virginia must risk her own safety to ensure that both their destinies won’t be doomed.

Riddled with all the intrigue of life on the red planet, fantastic supernatural happenings, and mysteries to solve, Separated is a memorable science fiction story that you will be pleasantly surprised by, a novel that is both fun and deep, full of suspense, fascinating wonder, and—most of all—believing in what you can’t see.

Thank you for reading and your public review of this story means so much.

I went into Separated by Bee Davis knowing it was a young adult science fiction novel, and I think that mindset really helped shape my experience. I absolutely loved the concept centered around the idea of perpetual love. The author’s unique take on reincarnation: where the male main character’s soul is inadvertently swapped with the female main character’s previous love, felt fresh and intriguing. It added an emotional depth that made the story stand out.
That said, there were a few elements that didn’t fully land for me. The recurring premise of seeing specific numbers felt a bit unclear, and I wasn’t quite sure how it connected to or enhanced the overall story. Additionally, the ending felt slightly underdeveloped. I would have loved more detail about the union ceremony and a deeper look into what the characters were feeling in that exact moment, as it seemed like a missed opportunity for emotional impact.
Overall, though, I found this to be an enjoyable and creative read. I would definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy YA novels with a unique twist on love and reincarnation.

First I want to thank the author for gifting me an audio copy of this book. This is a YA Science fiction romance which isn't my usual genre but I decided to give it a try. I think it was pretty good. I enjoyed the world building and descriptions but I don't think YA books are for me.

Still so incredibly grateful to have received this audio. Give it a read!

Woah! I wasn’t ready for how good this book is!

If I had to sum this book up in one word, my one word would be: fascinating! I’ve never read a science fiction book and wowwww I didn’t know what I was missing out on!! I am typically a romance girly, but this opened my eyes to the fact that I love a good science fiction book as well! This story will absolutely suck you in! I found myself laughing throughout and I was genuinely engaged throughout the entire book!! That is hard for me, so this definitely brings this to a top tier book for me! I am so glad I had the opportunity to read this book! I cannot say this enough….. read it!!!! You won’t regret it!!
