Bite Size: A Short Story

Rate this book
Crunch is always hungry. A massive and mean homeless man, Crunch wanders the streets trying to survive while accumulating a hatred for all those around him.

While it has always been easy for him to victimize the weakest of the street dwellers, the normal folk like you and me have always been beyond his grasp. Until one day he finds a way to punish everyone who deserves his wrath ranging from the poorest to the most privileged.

Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that the way found him ... and he has perhaps bitten off more than even he can chew.

"Bite Size" is a nasty little tale that just might turn your stomach as you read it. It is also a cautionary tale somewhat along the lines of 'be careful what you wish for' but not exactly. It is also the story of sin recognized and atonement made.

You may find the homeless man known as Crunch to be distasteful because he is dirty and foul smelling but his sin goes far beyond the obvious. He takes pleasure in wallowing in his sin for a time until he recognizes his actions far outweigh his intent. His atonement seems to be another sin but really does put his talent to good use.

Although not a narrative for the faint of heart or weak of stomach, "Bite Size" is a well-written piece of horror on so many levels.

This was a great, short story with a totally original idea. The main protagonists is also, in a way, the antagonist. We are always our own worst enemy. I will definitely be looking for more from this author.

This story has a pretty gross out factor as well.
