Playboy Squadron, by Arch Whitehouse, is a story of a squadron of Americans who join the R.A.F.(Royal Air Force) at the outbreak of WW1. After some mix-ups after arriving in Britain, they find Colonel Longstaff who gives them a place in the R.A.F. The squadron goes through their training and finds that war isn’t as simple and honorable as they imagined, and fighting in the sky isn’t as simple as they hoped.
I would not recommend reading this book. First, the boat ride to Britain lasts about 50 pages, and there is only about 1 event through the whole ride, while the rest is very, very dull. Second, it is almost impossible to remember any of the characters in this book or even picture them. There is just no attachment to the characters. Finally, there is absolutely no action until you are over halfway done with the book, and even that isn’t very exciting. Overall, this was a boring book that I just could not get in to.
