His command was absolute, both in the courtroom and the bedroom. Now I have a blue-eyed three-year-old secret he's about to discover.
I knew taking a job at Lambert & Associates meant serving New York's most formidable legal tyrant.
What I never calculated was surrendering my innocent body on his leather couch—or fleeing Manhattan with his heir growing inside me.
Then three years of carefully constructed distance is shattered by one merger announcement.
When Trevor's penetrating gaze lands on my daughter's photo, recognition blazes across his face like summer lightning.
As he navigates fatherhood with the same intensity he commands his empire, our chemistry ignites hotter than before—a dangerous flame neither of us can extinguish, nor fully embrace.
Now Trevor battles for us both against his calculating father, a man who sees Charlotte as a dynasty continuation, not the granddaughter who giggles at butterfly kisses.
The ruthless billionaire who once seduced me now stands at a crossroads between the cold legacy he was bred for and the messy, beautiful family that has blindsided his heart.
As he shields us from his father's poisonous influence, I witness the wounded child beneath the power suit—and realize our one-night mistake is actually destiny's most perfect beginning...
As a romance, this book is OK. Where it really shines are the family moments between Iris, Trevor and Charlotte. More of a family building story, where the romance is either a plot device (for her to get pregnant) or incidental.
Iris is a newly graduated virgin paralegal who has a one night stand with her hot aloof boss. When she has to leave due to a family emergency, she discovers she's pregnant and decides not to tell Trevor because they don't need that energy in their lives. Four-ish years later he acquires the new company she works out and finds out he has a daughter.
The "relationship" between Iris and Trevor is a bit all over the place. They both have insta-lust and share maybe 2-3 short, work-related, conversations before banging in his office. I can get being hurt that it was literally wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am, now get back to work, do I know you?... but Iris made it sound like the end of an epic love story. When he comes back into her life she wants to be his confidante and shelter him... because apparently she knows him so well? I mean, sure she knows him more than the other complete strangers in the office, but not by much. She admits she's naive, but in doing so she demonstrates she can't be. Naive people don't know they are building castles on sand. On one hand she clearly states that this can't be anything, on the other she blames her hurt on the fact that she was too naive.
Trevor's reaction to her leaving makes no sense either. He dismissed her basically 2 seconds after they had sex and treated her like a piece of furniture after. But he gets hurt that, after months of not acknowledging her existence, she resigns without explanation or conversation. Like it's due him. No notes on his reaction upon finding out about his daughter. 100% valid crashout.
After his father finds out about Charlotte, the story gets a bit repetitive. The MCs "have to talk" and agree they'll get through this together (like 3 different times), Trevor threatens his father 3 times, his sister pops in and out just to point out another way the shit has hit the fan... And the father's tactics make no sense. Sure, drag the mom through the mud to discredit her so you can get custody. All to save your family name. But then why are you doing the same to your son? You know, the family name you're so hellbent on protecting? Trevor and Iris make zero moves until the end. No counter publicity telling their side, no lawyer meetings, nada. And I get the father is powerful and not above bribes, but in what world would he get sole custody of his granddaughter when both parents oppose it and are solid, with a great support system?
The letter at the end was a bit of a heavy-handed way to let us know what had happened in the past year. Some things needed /should've been said (how he was a horrible father, that they're doing well and not thinking of him at all...) but others were details for us the readers and that we know his father wouldn't care about in the least. There had to be a better way to impart that info. Even just saying "in the past year this has happened" as reminiscence, leaving the letter to the dismissal it should've been.
We also get a bit of a heavy-handed introduction to the MMC of the next book. Three pages before the end of the book Iris asks about this random person attending the wedding and we find out he just got divorced but is still hung up on his college sweetheart. And the book ends. There was no need to bring this new character up other than to tie in the next book. But that tie-in could've been done in the next book, idk start at the wedding. It served no purpose here.
Overall the book was fine, but none of the main plot-points were the focus enough for me to be able to categorize this. Maybe learning to be a family and facing adversity? But even that isn't as in depth as it could be.
Trevor ran his company with an iron fist, just like he was taught. Iris is taking her first big job at Lambert as a paralegal. It only takes one night to change both lives.
Once Iris discovers she's pregnant, she decides to just keep the baby and not tell Trevor. He has a cold side to him (probably because of the way he was raised) and Iris does not want Charlotte raised like that.
Three years later....what are the odds that Trevor's company will buy the little law firm she finds a job at?! It can't be good and she is terrified he'll find out her secret!
Trevor discovers he's a father and falls totally in love with his newly discovered daughter! He believes that he and Iris both still have feelings for each other and he wants to be a better man, a good father and he really wants Iris back!
Trevor's father is not a good man. He tries all kinds of underhanded tricks to be able to take the child from Iris...BUT TREVOR FINALLY FIGHTS BACK AND STANDS UP TO HIS FATHER. I was really cheering him on when this was going on!
The book has a wonderful ending. Iris and Trevor start their own law firm. Iris is finally a lawyer! Charlotte is thriving! This story had a TON of feels! It is a story of power, love, intrigue and above all, happiness. It made my heart happy when I read the ending. Another big winner for the awesome Claire Kirby!
This is a wonderful, emotional, well written story, with a slow build, heartwarming second chance romance, sweet and spicy scenes, an adorable 3-year-old and a lovely HEA.
When Iris starts at the law firm as a paralegal she just wants to work hard and move up, but she keeps catching the eye of the managing partner, her boss's boss, and after a while he wants to find a way to stop her being a distraction to him; just wanting one night with her. But when she finds herself pregnant she moves back home, having found Trevor just cold towards her after that one evening.
A few years later Trevor's managing a new acquisition he's shocked to see Iris is now working there. He'd never forgotten her and hadn't understood why she'd left so suddenly. When he finds out about the daughter she'd never mentioned he realises he just wants a chance to be the father his was never to him. But can he convince Iris that he's not the cold man his father trained him to be?

He was her boss and she was his company’s paralegal but one night wouldn’t hurt right? One night left them with much more than memories.
Iris discovers she is pregnant and doesn’t tell Trevor, instead she moves away thinking it is for the best. How did she know, several years later that his company would buy the small firm she is working for.
One look at Charlotte and Trevor knows he is the father. Seeing his daughter changes Trevor’s perspective and now all he wants is to raise his daughter with Iris, if only he can convince her that he has changed, that he is not the cold-hearted man that she thinks he is. Next obstacle in his way is his father! Can Trevor become the father he wants to be for his daughter or the man his father raised him to be?
OMG this was a great book. It was steamy page turner and the suspense was too intense. I was on the verge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. One night with him will change her life forever from this one night stand of passion. With some unexpected consequences that will have a major life changing in both their lives. Iris was a beautiful woman and Trevor was the older guys and they couldn't even fight the temptation any longer in this moment. Will he give her the world of her desire and happiness of romance and future family. I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed. So much emotion. I liked the characters. Iris is young and strong willed but Trevor is a temptation that frightens her. Trevor doesn't need anyone as he rules his empire but when he finds himself drawn to the young paralegal, he knows the only way to wipe her from his mind is to have her...just once. Silly man. She isn't going anywhere but them disappears. I really had trouble putting this book down. I read it while attending a training weekend at Girl Scout camp. My tent mates wanted frequent updates on what was happening. Trevor steps up, does the right thing and gets a HEA he never dreamed of. My tent mate and I both enjoyed the story. It kept us warm as thevtemp dropped to 40 degrees.
She is a paralegal and totally off limits. He is her boss. One night changes their future forever. Can he forgive her for staying away and keeping her secret? Will he continue to not become the man his father is? Will she fully open her heart and let him in? Can they fight his vindictive father and keep their daughter safe? So many emotions in this book. I absolutely loved everything about it….well except for Richard….he is just plain evil and a waste. Unfortunately men like him truly do exist in this world. This book really tugged at my heart strings. What a wonderful romance.

Once Upon A Night Stand story was captivating and kept me interested until the end. I love how a father that didn’t know he had a daughter, but when he truly found out he was captivated and loved her on sight. I enjoyed how the daughter who had begun to realize that the kids at daycare had father but she didn’t and she was so happy when she me him. This book just described the instant love between a father and his daughter. It describes the insecurities of the mother but she knew her daughter loved her father and she didn’t want to hurt her. Great read and I recommend reading this book.
This is the story of Trevor and Iris and it was pretty good. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as her latest mafia book. Iris is a virgin and her and Trevor have sex one night while she is working for him. Afterward, he completely ghosts her and acts like it never happened.
She moves back home with her parents when she finds out she’s pregnant and builds a life alone with her baby girl. Fast forward three years and she’s taken back when his firm buys the current law firm she’s working for and then he later finds out he’s a father.
This was a decent book but something felt off about the romance. It just didn’t quite gel for me. 4🌟🌟🌟🌟
So, here's a weird tale. This older guy, Trevor, had some serious dad drama. His old man was all about looking good and keeping his kids in line with scary threats. Trevor just dealt with it until he finally found something that lit a fire in him.
Then there's Iris, this smart chick who was totally killing it in her career. But then she messed up and had to totally switch up her whole game plan.
Heads up, it's a pretty slow burn. And don't expect any sparks flying between characters - romance isn't really a thing here.
Once Upon A One Night Stand by Claire Kirby is the first book in the Once Upon a Time...To Happily Ever After Series. I loved Iris and Trevor's story, yes it had some ups and downs, but they belonged together. I loved that Trevor wanted to be a better father for his daughter than his was to him. I loved this story and I am sure you will too.

Trevor is a billionaire. He is a lawyer and has high end clients. Iris is a paralegal and went to work there. She worked late and was almost always the one to work late. One night Trevor took her hand to lead her to his office and made love to her, a virgin. She became pregnant and left the firm. Four years later her small firm is taken over by a larger firm, Trevor’s. She freaks because he can’t know about Charlotte. Now this is a great read, I hope you read it…
Second chances. once in a lifetime, love in the unfathomable. Hard as nails CEO vs. hometown sweetheart with a stubborn streak. I loved this book. Claire Kirby did a fantastic job with the character building and plot location and the twist of how things come together. I highly recommend reading this one.
When Trevor gets his second chance to make things right with Iris will he allow his father to ruin things because of his upbringing. This heartfelt story had me cheering on Trevor and Iris to get their chance for happiness in spite Trevor's father making things difficult for them.

One night with Trevor should have been a time to remember, but for Iris, only regrets and a beautiful daughter were the result. Tense and emotional from the start, this story was intriguing and full of suspense. The character development was a great part of this story. It was delightful to read.

This book was a deal page turner I found d the storyline moved fast and thought it would have been over so close to the beginning but the author added so many twists and turns for the two main characters. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend.
Trevor is raised by a bitter controlling father. He doesn't let anyone close to him, with the exception of his half sister. He meets Iris when she works at his law firm. He seduces her which results in a pregnancy. Hea, of course
This book was way more than I thought it was going g to be. It was well written and, very intriguing. Thank you so much Claire Kirby. I highly recommend ..
