Ballet dancer Posy Sutton is only back in her hometown of Aurora, Alaska, until her injury heals. It's a decision that'd be easier to stick to if she didn't keep bumping into her charming ex-boyfriend, Liam Blake. After six years, she should be over him -- but instead all she can see is the mistake she made when she left him. She's not sure she can handle choosing between Liam and ballet a second time -- if Liam is even willing to risk his heart again. When her time in Alaska is up, will she and Liam be part of the sweetest dance of all?

Teri Wilson’s books are enchanting, and this is no exception. I selected it to read because of the author, but the heroine is a ballerina! I couldn’t resist! I lived it!
Upbeat and fun -- a wonderful venue for this author's quirky sense of humour. She really knows how to make a reader smile. And swoon. But Alaskan Homecoming isn't all fun and games. There's definitely a serious side to Liam and Posy's romance. What do you do when a dream drifts from your grasp? Do you pursue it? Let go? Or adapt it to fit in with a new dream? A light-hearted book with plenty of food for thought. Can't get better than that.
I would have given it 5 stars but I had such a hard time liking the main character, Posy. Also, I was waiting to hear more about how Liam wound up with Sundog. I was very surprised the Senior Pastor didn't give the Youth Pastor more information about who he hired. Seemed odd. I enjoyed everything else about the book.
The cover was enchanting, the story touched on real problems. I love how it ended with a news paper report in the Yukon Reporter. A very nice way to tie up the lovely story!
I really loved the first book in this Alaskan series by Teri Wilson so I was really pleased to win this book in the series, and return to Aurora, Alaska.
Since childhood ballet has been the most important thing in Posy Sutton's life.
Her dream took her to San Francisco to dance with a ballet troupe.
An injury brings her back to her hometown as she recovers from her injury, hoping she will be able to heal in time for audition for the principle dancer role coming up in a few weeks.
A job teaching ballet to the children at the church should help fill her time.
She didn't expect to be working with her ex-boyfriend Liam Blake ~ much less have her heart captured by him again. Not to mention the girls she teaches becoming important to her, and enjoying the fun and companionship of her childhood best friends. Can she bear to go back to her old life in San Francisco?
I did struggle to connect with Posy in the beginning, as family and friends have always been the most important thing and I have never had a dream that meant more than them, but she did grow on me.
I do know how devastating it is to have a dream snatched from you, and the terrifying feel of possibly not getting it back, albeit mine was through illness not injury, and that was portrayed well.
I also admired Posy for how she made the courageous and hard decision to not do something so that she didn't have the slightest chance of making the same mistake she made 6 years ago when she was injured.
I did like the redemption theme that ran through this story. I love second chances and the chance to be redeemed, and it worked well in this story.
I loved Liam ~ what a wonderful hero! And his dog was a great addition to the story. I loved the description of the Alaskan rainbow ~ I've never heard that before, so that was fascinating to read about.
My favourite scene was definitely the dance at the ice-rink ~ so romantic!
Overall, I enjoyed my return to Aurora in this faith and redemption filled romance story ~ now I need to read Anya's and Zoey's stories in the previous books of this series.
1. 2. 3. 4.
I was very pleased to win a copy of this book from the Soul Inspirationz blog ~ another great book to add to my Love Inspired collection!
I loved this book so hard! To be honest, it was such a relief to read a romance that developed naturally between high school sweethearts who are reunited after years apart -- a romance that didn't rely on getting the hero and heroine straight into bed but instead kindled the true love and attraction between them, as well as the real-life conflicts keeping them apart. Though it's billed as an "inspirational" romance, the only faith-based element is the fact that the hero is the youth pastor of the local church, so it's not heavy at all on the religious side. The Alaskan setting absolutely came to life through the details of this small town, and I'll go back and read the earlier books in this series just to spend some more time there. I loved this book and would definitely read another by this author and/or this line of Harlequin books (and I'm not a Harlequin reader by nature)!
Posy is a ballerina with great dreams of a promotion to be the lead dancer in her company in San Francisco. Her body has other plans as she finds herself injured in the beginning moments of a show. She finds herself returning to her old Alaskan hometown to recuperate and teach a class of young girls at the same time.
Upon returning home she finds that she is to work with her ex-boyfriend, Liam, the man she left behind when she moved to the big city. They have some interesting times together and through good and bad moments, finally come to the moment of decision. Will she return to San Francisco or can Liam help change her mind? And does he even want to? Enjoyable story with a peek at what Palmer the reindeer is up to these days.
Alaskan Homecoming by Teri Wilson was a very good book. There were three before this book. Doesn't say it's a series. Since they are a year apart it is hard to remember them. BUT....the minute a read about Palmer the stubborn reindeer sitting in the middle of the frozen pond, I remembered some of the other books. Palmer was in the books. Posy Sutton injured her ankle while at dancing in a ballet. She goes back home to recover. She ends up having to work with Liam Blake whom she left six years ago to do the thing she wanted to do which was ballet. Sparks still fly between them. Posy has to decide if she wants to go back to ballet or stay in her home town and teach ballet to the kids there. A good read.
I Loved It!! I laughed out loud so many times the neighbors had to wonder what was happening in my apartment! I became attached to all the new characters and enjoyed seeing past ones. Her sense of humor is fabulous I just wish there had been more mention of how the Lord helped both these people come to realize their challenges and supported them through them.
"This next installment in Wilson’s series contains a number of comical scenes between the flawed and relatable characters. Posy’s quest for perfection and search for a sense of belonging are common struggles" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
Alaskan Homecoming by Teri Wilson is a cute and easy reading book. Story flows and comical scenes make this a very enjoyable read. I will read more by this author.
I had a lot of trouble warming up to the main character, Posy, in this book. It was nice to go back and visit with characters from previous books, especially Palmer.
The summer of romance novels turned into the fall of romance novels. An injured ballerina, a dog, ALASKA, a ragtag group of kids putting on a youth group recital...this book is maximum cozy.
