If you enjoy reading Amish books that are a simple love story, you will like this book. Jacob has loved Annie since they were little and Annie wants a husband, but someone older than Jacob. Will they finally put their ups and downs aside and come together? I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Another great "Love Inspired" book!

This is a sweet story about an Amish woman, Anna Zook, who has been hurt in love. To keep from opening her heart to the pain of young love again, she makes a decision to marry the first older widower who will have her. The young man who has cared for Anna since they were small, Jacob Lapp, is scared to declare his feelings for Anna. This problem opens an interesting situation and a continually developing plot.

What I liked: I love the loyalty the characters display toward each member of the family and their friends as well. I enjoyed reading about the Amish faith and the insights into their daily habits and chores. The fact that they are so supportive and respectful of each other and everyone in their faith community is special.

What I didn’t like: The story seemed to sag somewhat in the middle. There was some repetitive scenes and activities; many scenes revolved around the eating table.

This is a tender love story, and I recommend it to anyone loving Amish books or simple romance stories. Over all, I give the book four stars.

Rebecca Kertz has written about the Lapp men and I have so enjoyed reading their stories Noah -Jedidiah, Jacob . Mom had 7 boys and last but not least one daughter.
Annie and Jacob had grown up together but in the beginning Jedidiah and Annie were courting for a short time. They talked when he thought he was not ready and she was not the one forever. He thought they could be friends and did not realize that she cared more for him ,then he did her. He broke her heart and she hardened it to others -not wanting to face that pain again.
She would not consider any til her father had accident and needed help in his blacksmith shop and Jacob offered his help.
During his visits he would see Annie and knew as time passed that he wanted her to be his wife but also knew she was leery of men now.
I hope you get a chance to read of this family and how each met and courted to marry.

She's his perfect bride only she doesn't know it -- and he's not about to tell her! Such a conundrum! Kertz has crafted a gentle love story with plenty of conflict and insecurities. While I understood why Annie thought her plans made sense, I wanted to clout her upside the head for being such a dummkopf. And Jacob -- grrr, don't get me started. He's just as bad. If Jacob knew what Annie was thinking and if Annie knew what Jacob was thinking -- well, I guess there wouldn't have been a book, would there? Thankfully, Kertz doesn't seem to mind torturing her characters (and consequently her readers.) The result is a splendid, sweet read.

This is the third book I have read from this author and after this one I will abandon any future reads. I think there might possibly be a lack of research done on the Amish way of life to make this book for me worthwhile. It can be quite wordy with nothing ever having been said and over-exaggerated in some areas. I found it a bit tedious and dull. I have read wonderful Amish fiction and non-fiction that was full of everyday chores and thoughts and yet still wrote brilliantly and left me wanting more; but this read just in my own opinion is poorly written.

A Wife for Jacob is the third heartwarming story written by Rebecca Kertz in her Lancaster County Wedding series. We are taken back to Happiness, Pennsylvania once again as Jacob Lapp and Annie Zook are thrown together by a devasting accident. These two characters are loving, strong, and steadfast in their faith but also as stubborn as they come.

Annie refuses to show any interest in another Lapp boy because of her excruciating break-up with Jedidiah. Jacob is determined not to get involved with Annie because she showed no interest in him when they were 12. So with both of them feeling the same way it is almost painful to be near each other when Annie's dad has a serious accident and needs Jacob's help in his blacksmithy shop. So many twist and turns to this story and nothing brings these two together. With several men interested in Annie she doesn't know what to do. I loved the pace of this story and it left me shaking my head in places. The author has done an amazing job telling this story

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story about the Amish that I can highly recommend to others.

Congratulations to Rebecca Kertz on continuing her series with another heartwarming book for her readers enjoyment.

This book was really good, I started it and boy was it hard to put down. I love Jacob Lapp and Annie Zook but sometimes I wanted to smack them and tell them to smarten up! They both liked each other and both had reasons not to tell the other! I love LI books, especially ones Amish based, the simple joy they get from life is heartwarming.

This Amish romance novel centers around the themes of forgiveness and giving love a second try after being rejected and heartbroken. The story shows the true power of God‘s redemption and healing in our hearts.

I enjoyed A Wife For Jacob by Rebecca Kertz. Jacob Lapp has loved Annie Zook since childhood. Annie didn't know it. Annie liked Jacob's brother Jed, but he broke it off. Annie decides she should marry an older man who wouldn't break her heart. Annie's father falls and hurts himself. He was a blacksmith. Jacob helped out at the blacksmith while Annie's dad is recovering. Jacob and Annie like each other but don't tell each other, while Annie is still looking for an older man when her heart is for Jacob. They end up getting together. A good story.

Rebecca has found a calling in Amish Fiction. In a Wife for Jacob Rebecca will have you hooked from page 1. I didn't want to stop reading but sleep must come. This is the third book in Lancaster County Weddings. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. A must read if you like humor with love and men who are stubborn.

Although I enjoyed most of the characters and I love her Amish details and the accuracy of them I couldn't force myself to finish this book. Annie is judgmental, uncharitable, and just a whiner! Her refusal to accept and then deal with her feelings and her constant refusal to accept the Lord's path and will for her just got to be too obnoxious!

"Familiar characters in the Lancaster County Wedding series return in this tale of finding peace and direction. It is sweet and reminds readers that love is a gift, not something that can be planned" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).

Annie has been jilted and his brother is helping her father. What is this Jacob, a friend? She thinks an older man is her path, love will come in her Amish heart, or is God's path a different one?
