A musician themed box set with the following books.....
Defining Destiny - Deanna Chase Still Life with Strings - L.H. Cosway This Time - Marie Hall Forever Ours - Cassia Leo A Seductive Melody - Crista McHugh Step - Roxie Rivera
This review is for A Seductive Melody as that's the only book in the bundle that I've read so far. A Seductive Melody is the fifth book in The Kelly Brothers series by Crista McHugh. This is the story of Ethan Kelly and Rebecca Shore. Ethan is a musician who has just lost his best friend to a heroin overdose. He’s an addict as well and has just come out of detox. While attending his first Narcotics Anonymous meeting, he’s introduced to Becca who is also a recovering addict. She has agreed to be his temporary sponsor. Becca has her own deep issues that resulted in her addiction. Their relationship is two-fold as she helps him learn to trust and deal with his friend’s loss. He’s regains his desire to write and sing his music while Ethan helps her re-establish a relationship with her family. There are several twists and turns as they both deal with their careers. Crista McHugh had me hooked from the first page as I was drawn into Ethan and Rebecca’s back stories. I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. This was a fabulous book and I can’t wait to read the next installment in The Kelly Brothers series.
A whole set of rockers is awesome! I have read Defining Destiny by Deanna Chase, and can't wait to read the others. Here is what I thought of Defining Destiny.
This was a great book! I loved the light paranormal elements and the new twist to the idea of soulmates. It was fresh and enjoyable! There was so much emotion in this book that it was easy to get sucked into it, and not put it down. Lucy deciding whether or not to follow her destiny or her heart was actually very exciting. Plus, you add in Seth, who was also a great character, and the story gets even better! I have read all of Deanna Chase's other books, and Seth and Lucy are two of my favorite characters. She did an amazing job developing them and their relationship in this book. I really hope I get to see more of these characters and this world because I absolutely loved what she did with soulmates! Definitely check it out!
have just read Step, Roxie Rivera to be truthful this is why I bought this box set, I love her stories!!, if you've read the Russian series of books you'll remember Ten, this is about his cousin Step who also happens to be a rock star! this was such a sweet read, kinda Cinderellaish, Jem' s a maid he's famous they meet under not so nice circumstances, she looks after him then he saves her, I instantly loved Step and Jem, what an adorable couple!!, Ms Rivera is so brilliant and weaving a tale and sucking you in, loads of sweet moments, bit of drama/steam and goody for us more of those lovely Russians!, this is going to be a new series for next year and I cannot wait.
Defining Destiny - Deanna Chase I'm actually going to give this 4.5 stars. I liked the story it was showing that just because there is this one person out there that is your soulmate doesn't mean they are right for you but at the same times shows that when you lose that most important person out there you could find someone that is just as important. I can also say that I made me what to keep reading and I do recommend that if you liked Defining Destiny you need to read Accepting Fate.
Still Life with Strings - L.H. Cosway 4 stars. Very well written I just wish it was longer.
This Time - Marie Hall 4 stars. It was a very well written story. I loved the characters. The twists and turns we just awesome. I don't know if the moments series all connect or not but I would like to read more about the characters from This Time.
Forever Ours - Cassia Leo I did not read this one. I read the first chapter and just could not connect with the characters. So I will not rate it.
A Seductive Melody - Crista McHugh 4.5 stars. I loved this book I didn't realize at first that it was like the 4th or 5th book in the series. Now that I have read about Ethan I will probably have to go read about his brothers. They seem interesting. This book was very good. I loved the way Becca and Ethan were together...I will say I wish it was longer but I hope in the next couple of books because I saw that there are more in this series that Ethan and Becca will have more screens.
Step - Roxie Rivera 4 stars the reason for that it was to short...however I know this is a new series and I look forward to reading more about them. I actually have never read anything by this author so I may go back at some point and read other books right now I have so many books on my kindle I need to read those first but in the future I may check out more. Step and Jem are interesting but like I said I felt like the book was a rush and needed more pages too it. I'm looking forward to the new series when it is released.
I was stalking my kindle waiting for my pre-order to kick in and deliver this title. I was not disappointed! This review is for STEP by Roxie Rivera (I will read/review in full shortly).
Step Vasiliev, lead of the metal band Sinister Mayhem, is turning thirty and forcing himself to party like a rock star. He'd rather go home for a quiet night but things don't always go as planned. In one of the most humiliating moments of his life he didnt expect to find exactly what he hadnt known was missing.
Benji is a teenage fan determined to meet his idol while his sister Jem is just trying to keep a roof over their heads and family services from their door. Little did Jem know the new man in her life was going to wreak havoc in one moment and in the next save the most precious thing in it.
This novella is tied to the Fighting Connollys and Her Russian Protectors series as we learn more about members of the families. While the story can be read as a standalone, the author expands the thread of these intermingled stories with a tale of new love quickly tested.
The story is well-written though a bit rushed as the drama unfolds over the course of one day. As always I want more! Can't wait for the next in the series.
Upfront - I only read Roxy River's story (last one in this anthology) about Step. I read a sample from her website and was immediately intrigued to buy it. I didn't realize it included other author's and that some of those were parts of other series. Although you realize Step is Russian, I didn't realize until midway that it intertwines with the other series (this is an off-shoot) and Nicolai and Vivian. I love that series and was very happy this one involved those two characters. Since this is a novella and the first book of this sub-series, it does involve instalove and condensed scenes over a very short amount of time. The characters and involvement of Nicolai and Vivian made it worth it for me. Excited to read more (soon)!
Great collection of authors! I'll add to this review as I get to each book.
STEP by Roxie Rivera Fast paced and full of action. Step is finally at a place in his life where he wants more than the groupies and fame that follow him. He sees the reality of the emptiness that his life has become. Jem amazes me with her inner strength. She will do anything to protect her little brother even if it means putting herself last. I love Step's inner monologue about telling their grandchildren how they met. This is the first book in a spin off series of Her Russian Protector and The Fighting Connolly's. Highly recommended author and series Adult read
DISCLOSURE: I only bought this book bundle (cheap at .89 cents) because I am addicted to Roxie Rivera's guilty pleasure world of those Houston badboys. (Her Russian Protector etc).
STEP starts off a new branch of this world, Ten's cousin Stepan is a rocker in the goth/metal band Sinister Mayhem and it looks to be as addictive as the rest of Roxie Rivera's world. ★★★★
I bought the bundle for Roxie Rivera's book, but discovered some really good books and new authors! I love Roxie Rivera's Russian Protector series and meeting Step and Jem and some old friends from that series was nice. I can't wait to read more about these two and Ten. Good work Ms. Rivera! Enjoyed the book.
Another fantastic read! I brought this boxset because I'm a big fan of Marie Hall. Have to say I wasn't disappointed. I've been introduced to some new authors, who's books I will be looking forward to reading real soon.
I love Roxie's books. This was kind of different and it ended open. I mean, there's so much unanswered questions that I know will be answered later on. No debt is left unpaid, so we will see how will Step will pay his debt with Nikolai.
Still Life with Strings by L.H. Cosway - 5 Stars A Seductive Melody by Crista McHugh - 4 Stars Step by Roxie Rivera - 4 Stars, was too short and left a lot untold Defining Destiny by Deanna Chase - 4 stars This Time by Marie Hall - Currently Reading
What a terrific collection, read it from cover to cover. New authors (for me), wonderful characters, some definite "read the next book" moments. A bargain buy.
