La inoportuna muerte del presidente
Como un ser mortal, el presidente de un país podría amanecer muerto en día cualquiera.
Pero lo grave sería que esto sucediera en México, justo en el día que sirve de frontera entre las dos opciones que define su Constitución para elegir a su remplazo.
Si esto llegara a ocurrir: ¿quién debería escoger al sucesor?; ¿sería por el voto mayoritario de los ciudadanos o bastará lo que decida la mayoría de los legisladores? Y si éste fuere el caso; ¿qué razones e intereses podrían determinar el sentido de su voto secreto?
Este escenario hipotético, aunque no imposible, es el que utiliza Alfredo Acle Tomasini para plantear una trama de intriga y suspenso que abarca un lapso de apenas seis horas, durante las cuales el secretario particular del presidente se debate entre la urgentísima necesidad de comunicar la noticia y el descubrimiento de algunos indicios que le hacen dudar sobre las causas aparentes de la muerte del mandatario.
Una trama donde concurren la lealtad incondicional y la traición; la vocación de servir y el interés de servirse del poder público; la honestidad y la corrupción.

17 books6 followersWriting was always a parallel activity of my professional career. I published several essays and books on business administration, planning and public policies. At the same time, I contributed every fortnight as editorialist in an important financial newspaper.
2009 meant a breaking point in my life. I realized that the limit of postponing personal projects is life itself and if you delay too much, you probably will not have the time or the health to do what you always wanted; So I decided to end my professional career as business consultant and dedicate most of my time to write novels.
Why novels and not to continue writing books and essays on topics I was already recognized in the market place?
Certainly this was a challenge. However, my main motive was to be able to produce a quality work that, could capture the readers' attention from the beginning to the end, and to make them react on specific issues that we all could confront sooner or later.
Formerly, I had discussed social and political problems in a formal way. But now, I want to address them using the creative possibilities that are available when writing fiction.
Once I read an author's advice that seem to me very wise: «Write about what you know».
This advice summarizes three elements to use as raw material to start writing a novel; the environments where we have been, and the persons and their circumstances that we have met throughout our life.
So having being a public servant for many years at the beginning of my professional life, my first novel was a political thriller; "The untimely dead of the President". The suspense plot, that develops in a six hours lapse, is about ambition, and the collusion between economic and political interests to take command.
In "Just gone", a thriller that intertwines three parallel stories, I wanted to go deeper on the character's motives by situating them in extreme circumstances, because it is when a person shows the real weight of its personal values. Friendship, loyalty, honesty are not absolute concepts because they are shown depending on the conditions. In good times, we have a lot of friends, but in difficult circumstances, probably we would not have that many.
My main experience as a novelist has been to see, how the characters that I created in the paper become alive, when I chat with my readers. I enjoy hearing their sentiments about them and how they felt at different stages of the plot. This is an incentive to continue in this path raising the bar.

Luego de enterarse de la muerte del presidente de México, Axkaná Guzmán, su secretario particular, decide hacerse cargo de convocar a los funcionarios más cercanos para enterarlos y decidir en conjunto cuál es el siguiente paso para evitar que el país entre en crisis.
Guzmán se transformará de un "segundón" (como lo llaman sus enemigos) en un líder astuto, hábil y rápido que descubrirá que en la muerte del presidente hay algo extraño y que entre los secretarios de Estado hay ambiciones notorias para ocupar el lugar del fallecido.
La novela está escrita con un lenguaje muy sencillo y con una estructura convencional, atributos que permiten que cualquiera que la lea pueda entender fácilmente el problema que supone que el presidente haya muerto justo cuando terminaban los primeros dos años e inician los cuatro restantes, porque de acuerdo con lo que decida el médico del mandatario, el Congreso deberá o elegir un presidente para los cuatro años siguientes o bien elegir a un gobernante provisional y convocar a elecciones.
Llama la atención que el actual presidente de la República haya decidido intentar leer esta novela en plena campaña presidencial, ¿algún acto fallido?

Coincido con Fernando Herrera en que se alargó mucho la anécdota. Además siento que quedó débil el final, ahí le hubiera dedicado más tiempo.
Rescato del libro que nos presenta a un presidente con vergüenza, con honor y amor por su país. Que toma una inédita decisión para sacudir el sistema, la partidocracia. Cualidades que no se asoman en ninguno de los que están en posibilidad de gobernarnos.
Lo que sí es real es la necesidad de legislar al respecto, porque se nos vendría un desastre si un presidente en funciones se muere.
