Rate this book
A fun, lighthearted and sweeping seaside romance

The path to true love never did run smooth… Famous actor-turned-director Felix Paschal–real name Adam Sinclair–has bought Samphire Bay’s iconic Art Deco house, not only for the privacy it grants him, but also as the location for the new historical drama he is directing. The sprawling house desperately needs a housekeeper.

Luckily for Adam, local musician Emma desperately needs money, as she and her band try to make it big. Being a housekeeper proves to be both fulfilling and entertaining, especially when Adam’s show starts filming and sparks fly between the two.

Not everyone is happy with the new resident–from nasty texts and disturbing letters to fake news leaked to the press, both Adam and Emma will have to work hard to protect their home.

A fun and uplifting seaside romance for fans of Jessica Redland, Christie Barlow and Holly Martin.

Bunty has sold her beloved house at Samphire Bay. Rumors abound about the new owner and his plans. Felix loves his new house and can’t wait to start filming for his tv show there. He realizes quickly that the house is huge and he needs help running it. Emma takes the offer from her employer to voluntarily leave her job. The job working at the big house is what she is looking for since she loves Bunty’s old house. The two of them work together to keep the house and the tv production running smoothly. Will they be able to have a relationship that’s smooth sailing too?

I was sad that Bunty sold her house but I think the author made a good choice having Bunty move into town and someone new move in. I like that the author included more about Perry and his relationship with Emma. He seems like a really good dad. I like the story of Bunty and Perry finally getting their happily ever after. Felix visited the house during the open house when it was for sale. That’s important to the story because it’s where he first “met” Emma. It helps to drive his decision to hire her to care for the property. The author did a good job showing how committed Felix is to the tv production and his desire to become a director instead of just an actor. He seems like a nice man who treats people fairly. He’s a good addition to Samphire Bay. Emma is written as a bit impulsive but also steady once she is committed to a course of action. She is a talented musician and performs regularly with her band. I like that the author had her fall into the role of caretaker for the house with so much grace and talent. There’s a little twist at the end that I won’t mention but it made total sense in the story and it made me happy for the characters. Robin and Jasmine get an update in this story. I like that the author continues to tell the stories of the characters from the prior books. I am looking forward to Jack’s story and happily ever after. There is a bad guy that plays a big role in the story. It helps to bring Emma and Felix together.

This story takes place in Samphire Bay. It is a contemporary romance between two characters seemingly from different worlds who turn out to have more in common than is readily obvious. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
