From USA Today Bestselling Author Jane Henry comes a dark Bratva stalker romance.
Anissa Laurent is a ghost—a master of deception, a woman who has slipped through the cracks of the underworld. Untraceable. Untouchable. Unclaimed. Until me.
I made it my life’s mission to find her, drag her back where she belongs, and punish her for her betrayal.
I traced every false identity until I found her, but I took my time. I studied the way she breathes, the way she moves, what she loves, and what she hates.
She thought she could run. She thought she could hide. She thought she could get away with betraying my family.
But I’m not a man who lets go of what’s mine.
She was meant to be broken, to be owned, meant to carry my mark in the most primal way possible. I won’t just take her body—she’ll have my baby, too.
But I didn’t expect her to be as broken as I am. I didn’t expect her to fight like she has nothing left to lose. And now, I don’t just want to cage her—I want to own her.
She’ll curse me. She’ll hate me. She’ll claw and bite and scream my name in fury and in pleasure. But in the end, it doesn’t matter. Because there is no escape from her past… and definitely not from me.
What to expect in Unhinged: Stalking Kidnapping BDSM Breeding kink Caging A snarky af heroine and OTT alpha hero Found family and a guaranteed HEA
Fueled by dark chocolate and even darker coffee, USA Today bestselling author Jane Henry writes what she loves to read – character-driven, unputdownable romance featuring dominant alpha males and the powerful heroines who bring them to their knees. She’s believed in the power of love and romance since Belle won over the beast, and finally decided to write love stories of her own.
Matvei, you filthy dirty talkin man, oh how I loved you. He loves to use particular objects to tease and please, and this man is a biter 😏 Oh, to be sp😈nked, marked, bitten, and f—ked by a pool stick by this man, yes, please!
Matvei can't seem to catch Anissa; she finds ways to outsmart him. When she thinks she’s finally gotten away from him for good, he gets a tip and finds her, and now he's not letting her go.
𝑹𝒖𝒏, 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒈𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒕. 𝑰’𝒍𝒍 𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒖𝒑.
The only thing on his mind is finding and catching her and putting his baby in her belly 😮💨😈
Matvei and Anissa are enemies, and their banter is hilarious. And let's not forget the sexual chemistry—it's off the charts.
Matvei is staking a claim on Anissa, and my absolute favorite was when she was going through a painful medical disorder; he was right by her side. The things he does for her—oh, swoon—he melted my heart. I love a mafia man who can show his soft side, and that he did. 😍
What to expect in Unhinged: ✔️ Stalking ✔️ Kidnapping ✔️ BDSM ✔️ Breeding kink ✔️ Caging ✔️ A snarky AF heroine and OTT alpha hero ✔️ Found family and a guaranteed HEA
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ “She looks at me like she’s trying to decide if she wants to kiss me or kill me. And the fucked-up thing? Sometimes I think I’d be fine with either.”
Wow, oh wow! I had this book on my tbr for a while, and I saw someone mention it as their favorite mafia book this year, so I was like, hmm, lemme check it out… NOT DISAPPOINTED!
𐙚⋆.˚ Anissa
Anissa truly was the definition of being a bad bitch and unhinged. I truly love that she had these skills that made others fear her, but deep down she was looking for a place and someone she could call her own. Seeing the journey she has gone through, being closed off, to finally feeling she is free and no longer believing she has to run away, was beautiful to see.
𐙚⋆.˚ Matvei Okay Matvei was sexy asf and the cat and mouse games he and Anissa had were hilarious. He was instantly obsessed with her, and where other men would be intimidated by her skills and brilliance, he was instantly enamoured by her. Just like Anissa, he was also filled with grief from his past, and my heart truly broke for him. But I am so happy that he was able to forgive himself for everything and move forward.
Overall, I truly love these two, and I can’t wait to go back and read the others, but I have my eye on Zoya’s story, so I will definitely be reading the unrequited very soon😌.
I haven’t read a mafia romance in a while and I’ve never read a Bratva mafia book so I decided to give this one a go and wasn’t disappointed!
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 rounded up 🌶️🌶️🌶️
I did enjoy the story of Matvei and Annisa. The beginning was my favorite when he was trying to catch her and she kept getting away. I loved both their dark pasts but I do wish we had gotten more of a look into it (which maybe the other books allude more to this but I haven’t read them).
Annisa started out as this smart and cunning woman with the ability to get away from anyone and survive. She did have a good character arc of learning to trust more which I enjoyed. Matvei had his own character arcs with his own family and with learning to love Annisa. That part of his story was my favorite.
I did wish that Annisa had stayed more into her badass self towards the end instead of what really happened. These people were so smart and I figured the mafia would have figured out what was coming from a mile away.
Overall, it was a good read. I enjoyed the spice and the darker elements plus the character development. I would recommend this to readers who like a good mafia romance on the darker side.
🖤 thanks to Valentine PR and Jane Henry for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions!
4.2 stars. This was kind of disappointing. Mostly in that I expected him to be way more unhinged than that…I fear that says more about me than the book itself though.😂 My ‘unhinged’, ‘dark’ o-meters Are pretty skewed though so🤷🏻♀️ probably don’t listen to me about that. I will also say, the writing really fucked with my head throughout it. It had that disconnected quality, it was like it was trying so hard to show and not tell that it kinda just didn’t do either in a lot of places. Which made connecting with the story and the characters pretty hard. It was a good book still. I liked the madness between the two of them. I just feel like some strong editing could’ve made it a lot better and clearer.
I’m Just wondering how this author Jane Henry gets in to the s kin of these characters? They are flawed with just enough good in them to fall in love with each other. This was fantastic! So many twists and turns and danger and Karma gets who should be got in the end! I cannot wait for the next one! This brought us some characters that we have loved in previous books she has written. I’m amazed at the chemistry between Matvei & Anissa! The Kopolov family will take your breath away!! I loved it!!
*M/F *Contemporary *Dual-1st-PoV *Bratva Romance *Mafia Wars *Stalker Romance *Breeding Kink *FMC on the run *Tragic Pasts *High Heat *Fast Burn *Standalone *Wider Universe Hot Damn Daddy Matvei There’s a lot of kinkiness to this book, our FMC likes to be a brat and enjoys the pain/pleasure to her punishments, and boy oh boy does Matvei like to dish it out 🔥 there’s a hot connection between these two that’s fire to read but it’s so much more than that! They are both a little psychotic and broken due to their pasts and so they find solace in each others arms 😍 I love how she brings out the softer side of him and he brings out the needs for home in her - they smooth out each others edges 🥹 There are links to the wider world in this book but you can read this as a complete standalone (I did!) and still understand the underlying issues. There’s a good balance between the romance and the action in this book! Anissa has dealt with so much and is trying to escape the past, both in what’s happened to her and the decisions she’s made, but can she actually find everything she needs in Matvei and the Kopolov family? For him he’s obsessed from the start which only grows the more he sees his girl bloom and he will do anything to earn her the HEA she needs! A great read 😄
I don’t know who I loved more in this book, Matvei or Anissa. This series has quickly become one of my favorites and is definitely at the top of my Mafia recs list. The way we (as in Jane and I - she writes it, I read it, then word vomit into her dms 🤷🏻♀️), go through each of the family members, but everyone keeps showing up and playing their roles in each story just makes me so happy.
This is Matvei and Anissa’s story. You might remember Matvei as the cousin to the Kopolova’s and that traitor Glen’s brother (we find out what went down with Glen and his punishment in this story by the way and when I say my empathetic soul was aching). You also may remember Anissa - she was Rafail’s runaway bride and sister to Polina.
So Matvei is on a mission to track down Anissa, but she’s working with and under the protection of the O’Rourkes (the Irish mob). Turns out they aren’t very good at protecting her because Matvei slides right in there and enjoys a little mindfuckery before he snatches her up. You know what I love about Anissa though? She’s sassy as hell and gives him a run for his money. Eventually he gets her back to his not so humble abode and they play house, each holding on to some of their own secrets. Then Anissa has a medical issue that brings us all to our knees and Matvei shows up in a big way.
That’s not the end but if you aren’t convinced to read it at this point I’m not sure what you’re doing. Jane dropped some crumbs in this one that I picked up. Iwould say I hope you do to, but now the anticipation might actually kill me so maybe it’s better you don’t 😂. It won’t take anything away from this story, but they’ll make you chomp at the bit for the rest of the series (as if we aren’t already).
4.5⭐️ Ohhh I love me a man obsessed! I do feel like I’m missing some info (is this part of a series and not the first book??), but it did work as a standalone. Matvei is chasing Anissa across the globe. He has been promised her after she left his boss at the altar. This man is obsessed and wants to make h his in every way possible. I missed some info in how he became this obsessed with his boss’ ‘reject’, but I just went with it and loved it! The spice was spicing (phew!) and the plot was plotting. I’ll be looking into other books by this author!
Safety: - No OW/OM - No cheating - No real separation (h does escape H in the beginning and it takes him months to find her again). No third act break up.
I. DEVOURED. THIS. BOOK!!! Let me tell you…my obsession with Jane Henry and the way they write Mafia romances RUNS DEEP! This author is MASTERFUL at creating the most unhinged men who would literally burn the world down for their women and show the softness within them only to the one they love. On my knees for every man in this series without question.
This is the 4th book in the Bravata Kings series which is a spinoff of Jane Henry’s Wicked Vows series. Both are phenomenal and deserve all the love and attention.
Annisa is on the run after fleeing an arranged engagement to Rafail who is part of the Kopolov Bravata. She’s a skilled forger and master of disguise which has helped her evade them. But…all of that is about to come to an end when Rafail sends his top enforcer to find her.
Matvei is just as the title suggests…UNHINGED! The Bravatas top enforcer. A dark man with a dark past…Rafail sends him after Annisa…she betrayed the family by running…and that can’t stand. Rafail has moved on but wants her caught…telling Matvei that she is his now. But he has to bring her back…if he doesn’t she is dead.
Finding Annisa was easy…she’s been hiding within the Irish mob, causing more chaos for the Kopolov family. Capturing her is a different story. Annisa is strong and smart…evading these men left and right…leaving them scratching their heads as she switches identities and hides among the Irish. But Matvei is playing the long game. Toying with her. At any given time the other is in control and it’s infuriating to them both. The ultimate game of cat and mouse. But eventually Matvei captures his prize. And the minute he sets eyes on her, he knows he’s found his match.
These two were fire and gasoline. They were exactly the same. Darkness meeting darkness. Matvei enjoyed playing torturous games with Annisa…and Annisa wondered just how broken she truly was that she was actually falling for this insane man. They couldn’t fight the feelings between them. The way they understood each others darkness and embraced it. There was a pool cue that had ME unhinged. I was just… 👀🥵🙃😩The pain mixed with pleasure quenched something deep inside of them that they never thought was possible. So obviously…the only logical thing to do when two unhinged people connect on such a deep level is to get married 🙃
Matvei is SOFT for Annisa and Annisa alone. The man worships this woman and would literally do anything for her. Cooking for her…bathing and pampering her through her period?? Men take notes. This guy is insane and STILL takes care of his woman with respect. The ultimate, if he wanted to he would.
Just like with every Jane Henry book, there is lots of suspense and edge of your seat, nail biting tension. The Bravata aren’t the only ones after Annisa. But will they be able to get to her now that Matvei has claimed her as his queen ? 😉🖤
Thank you so much to Jane Henry and VPR for allowing me the privilege of ARC resding this deliciously dark and unhinged book.🖤

You may remember Anissa Laurent was the woman who was supposed to marry Rafail, but she stood him up and he ended up with her sister, Polina, in a rather bizarre way. Now, Rafail's cousin, Matvel, has tracked her down. Frankly, Matvel is obsessed with Anissa for more than one reason. Revenge is one of them, though that is really Rafail's problem with her. Of course, since she is Polina's sister and she doesn't even know Polina exists, there is a slight problem. Matvel can only do so much to Anissa, but making her question her sanity is within bounds, as is abducting her and taking her to his home. But Anissa hasn't managed to stay hidden for so long just to be easily dragged back to Rafail. She is a master forger and good at getting out of tricky situations.
These two are perfect for each other. They would both get bored with someone who was easy to get along with. Of course, there is someone working against them that they don't know about and that could pose a problem or two. There is also Matvel's goal of getting Alissa pregnant so she can't leave him...
Many secrets are being kept in this book, and not all of them are the usual Bratva conspiracies. Lots of violence and kinky sex, sometimes both at the same time. You've been warned. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Jane has done it again, she has burrowed into the souls of people we really shouldn't like but somehow makes us end up loving. Matvei certainly lives up to the book title but in fairness so does Anissa, our heroine. Anissa dishonoured the Kopolov family and is on the run, hiding in places she hopes no one will look for her. Matvei has been tasked with bringing her back to answer for her betrayal and is claiming her for himself. Both he and Anissa are cunning and frankly as the title suggests a little "Unhinged". Both have had pasts that have left them scarred, neither willing to acknowledge the similarity in their goals in life. When Matvei brings Anissa back and she realises he isn't ever going to let her go, the two find a common ground, and secrets and lies long hidden start to unravel putting both them and the whole Kopolov family in danger, from sources they least expect. This is as always an amazing read from Jane. We have many, much loved and some no so much, characters wandering through the book, bringing with them their own additions to the unfolding dramas. As always our attention is captured on page 1 and leaves the reader unwilling to put the book down until the end. Many loose ends are tied but as always more are hovering in the background waiting to unravel, leaving me so excited for the book from this amazing lady.
Jane Henry has quickly become one of my favorite mafia/Bravata authors.
Matvei and Anissa are exactly what this title says, Unhinged. They both excel at their jobs and have some very unusual tastes.
Matvei has been looking for Anissa ever since she shamed his family. Anissa has been hiding out under the protection of the Irish mob, but once a deal is settled between the Russians and the Irish, Anissa is free game - she just doesn't it.
I loved how everything played out and how these two played the ultimate game of cat and mouse. But it's once these two find some common ground, secrets and lies unfold and they find themselves fighting more than just each other.
Jane wrote this story flawlessly. There is zero pause in the intensity, and the spicy scenes are perfection. Jane does not hold back on anything and it just make this story all the more intense.
Matvei and Anissa are one of my favorite couples in this series and that is saying something because I have thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series so far. I am overly excited for the next book.
This is an addictive Bratva romance that hooked me from the first page. Anissa, a master of disguise, runs from an arranged marriage, but Matvei, loyal, obsessive, and unrelenting, hunts her down to make her pay for betraying his Bratva family. What starts as vengeance turns into a dangerously passionate obsession. Their connection is raw, twisted, and deeply emotional as both characters battle their inner demons. I loved the mix of suspense, intensity, and steamy tension. The dynamic between predator and prey constantly shifts, keeping me on edge. It’s dark, gritty, and not for the faint of heart, but it’s exactly what I look for in a mafia romance. A must-read if you enjoy dark, emotional stories.
"you’re mine now, not just in blood. not just in name. in every fucking way that matters."
if shackled was my favorite book out of the wicked vows series, unhinged is now my favorite installment in this spin off of the bratva kings. they're two sides of the same coin; what i wouldn't give to have isabella and anissa in a scene together - the badassery unmatched. there's nothing i love more than two damaged souls finding peace and safety and love in each other. this couple was the definition of soulmates, they were found family. i yearn and long for what they have.
* i was sent an arc by valentine pr in exchange for a honest review
Holy cow !! This book was absolutely EPIC! There’s revenge, vengeance, love, stalkers, drama, found family, heartbreaking truths and secret’s - Amazing supporting characters and great spice! I absolutely enjoyed this whole book and looking forward for what’s to come in book 2!
LOVED LOVED LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!! It absolutely wrecked me. But I loved every minute of it. Every time I think it can’t get any better, it does. So happy to have received an ARC for this book. Y’all are gonna devour this story just like I did.
Matvei is one crazy obsessed man. Anissa manages to out smart him but then turns around and is clueless as a box of rocks. How do you go on the run from dangerous people and managed to hide for them for a length of time, only to be complacent enough to get caught? Why question your instincts. You’re a kick butt woman’s embrace it instead of ignoring it. But she does get better at the story continues.
Thanks to Valentines PR for selecting me for this ARC. And a HUGE!!! thank you to the wonderful author for writing this amazing book. THANK YOU!!! ❤❤❤
Matvei and Anissa.
This book was so captivating. I literally read this book off in less than 6 hours. The plot was plotting, it had suspense and thrill and it was of course sexy as heck. Matvei and Anissa's banter and obsession for each other *chefs kiss*.
There was something special about this book and can you believe that I'm just realizing that this is a spin off series from one of my favorite series; Wicked Vows. I literally cannot believe that they have another sister. Polina had a TWIN! My guys have another sister. I caught on when I saw Aria's name because I didn't read the series from the beginning I didn't realize the name Polina, although seeing the name Romonav had me peaked but it just wouldn't click. You have no idea the excitement I felt reading this book. Anyway, the twists and turns of this book had me going and I love the love of chase both Matvei and Anissa had for each other. She couldn't believe that she was attracted to this toxic man and he just couldn't get enough of each other. They had me laughing when they were around each other because that banter I tell was out of this world.
Overall I give this book a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. For Anissa I love the fact that she found for her family, her people and they made her feel welcomed. For Matvei I love how he found a woman to love, someone who saw him, saw the worse parts of him and accepted him. She was also broken and they healed each other in the best ways. With a Jane Henry book, you know the couple is gonna be sexy as heck and this was no different, they were 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵. I loved this book and I loved the chase as well and thr back and forth with them. My only regret? Not reading this series from the beginning BUT those books are on my ever growing TBR and I can't wait to read them! Oh and the title of the book, please believe it, because that man is VERY unhinged and if you love an over the top possessive MMC; is that even a thing lol, who will literally do anything to protect the FMC, like say chop some hands off for touching her, THIS. BOOK. IS. FOR. YOU. And before I go, I also have to say that while he is unhinged, he also has the softest side for her. She has terrible periods and the way he handles that will make you melt and swoon because he basically "bought" the entire pharmacy, cooks for her, bathes her, and just takes care of her. And she was just one of the strongest FMCs ever, she handled things better than alot of others would with the things she has gone through. This book was *chefs kiss*.
RUN! and read these books PLUS Wicked Vows series. SO. WORTH IT.
Anissa Laurent is our resilient, strong and independent heroine who has been on the run for betraying and conspiring against the bratva. Our MFC has endured a traumatic past leaving her scarred, on the run and donning a mask. Her secrets and memories a heartbreaking story of what she experienced at the hands of monsters. Anissa mastered the skills of forgery documents in the mafia world, this talent helping her staying alive and protected but not for long…. our ruthless, intense, sexy, hot and unhinged MMC Matvei becomes utterly and deeply obsessed with Anissa. He thrives on her intelligence, fear and matching madness. A pair made in heaven (or is it hell) Their deep connection for the need to hurt, lay open their deepest wounds and unveil inner dark urges and cravings, the latter bringing them closer. Matvei carries an immense burden and guilt for his younger brother betrayal to the family, followed by the execution matvei had to see through at his own hands. Matvei’s need to prove himself to the pakhan, his “brothers” and the organization consume him with the never-ending self pressure to carry his duties and honor the family, even choosing to bear the bratva branding and crest in his body as symbol of his unwavering loyalty. When our main characters allow their walls to come down, when the need to run ceases to arise, when the meaning behind home and belonging settles, when their mutual weaknesses are not used as pawns but rather to help each other overcome, that’s when their love begins to bloom. A love that is chaotic, irrational and unpredictable but with them it makes sense. Their unfolding love is a beautiful thing to see, the way they claim each other body, heart and soul. They belong together in every way that matters. The 4th installment in the bratva kings has it all- claiming, possession, obsession, revelations, turmoils, hostility and a looming war that seems inevitable. Get ready to feel the overwhelming emotions of what is like to rebuild trust, to overcome fears, grief and guilt, the joy of newfound family, the amazing feeling of being care for and the meaning of being enough. Jane Henry did a beautiful job addressing certain topics that are very seldom spoken about in today’s world. Raising women’s awareness in educating and sharing information about menstrual health was an amazing added bonus to the book. Bravo 👏 Can’t wait for book 5!
Genres: Dark Romance, Mafia Romance, Erotic Romance, Romantic Suspense Tropes: Stalker, Enemies to Lovers, Possessive MMC, Snarky FMC, AntiHero/AntiHeroine, Touch Her and Die, BDSM, Band of Brothers, Found Family MC: Anissa (FMC), Matvei (MMC) Setting: Russia, Paris, Ireland Triggers: past assault, gun violence, death Epilogue: Yes
Synopsis: Anissa vanished years ago, slipping through the cracks of the dangerous Bratva world. However, for Matvei Romanov, her disappearance is only the start of a twisted game of cat-and-mouse that he plans on winning. Anissa is a skilled forger with ties to the Irish and other criminal organizations. They both revel in the dangerous tension that builds between them during the chase. When Anissa’s finally caught, she’s brought into the lion’s den, Matvei’s home, where ghosts from the past lurk in every corner and secrets threaten to shatter everything. After a betrayal from within the Romanov bloodline, the Irish come calling for revenge after lives are lost. An unofficial war ignites, and the Romanov’s have to plan what their next moves will be. Meanwhile, Matvei and Anissa decide they’ve found their perfect match and marry.
Thoughts: This was such a fun read. The twisted games between Anissa and Matvei were not only entertaining, but kinda funny as well. They both thought they were the one to one up the other, but it often flipped as they were pretty evenly matched. I thought the intimate scenes were really well done. Although they both enjoy certain kinks, are hard lovers, and have fun being together, these scenes created a rawness that shows true connection. They both have tough exteriors, but were able to become vulnerable with all the pain they recognized in the other. I’m so glad Anissa ran, so she would end up Matvei. They are soulmates, and each others perfect match. I don’t think her and Rafail’s arranged marriage would have ever worked. I am slightly concerned about the upcoming war with the Irish. I think Zoya is going to play a big part in forging a much needed alliance with them. Although she’s probably bound to have an arranged marriage, I can see her sacrificing herself for her family. I’m also interested to see if Vadka will get another chance at finding love. I can’t wait to see whose story is next.
This may be my first book from this author, but it sure as hell won't be the last!
Anissa and Matvei, hot damn. These two are fierce from the start and I love it! Triggers need to be checked.
On the run from the Bratva, Anissa uses her skills in forgery and disguises to disappear under the Irish mafia's close eye. In exchange for their protection, she provides her skillset.
So coming home with things moved, items missing and the feeling of being watched, she starts to feel on edge. It doesn't take long before her stalker reveals themselves and the Bratva Enforcer, Matvei.
Matvei has been hunting down the woman who betrayed his brethren by taking off, his obsession taking control. Anissa is far more to him than just revenge, she is going to be his in every way starting with kidnapping and bringing his little ghost home. Her fighting him, makes it all that more rewarding.
“You’re quite the little masochist, aren’t you?” I’ve been waiting for this, solnyshka. Waiting to see if she’d run, beg for mercy, or bare her teeth. I’m so proud. “Good girl.” She spits in my face. “Go to füçking hell.” I laugh, low and dark, swiping my face clean. “Beautiful, don’t you know that’s where I came from? I’m here to take you back with me."
There were so many moments that me hooked to this book. Anissa is not just an intellectual woman, she is excellent at thinking on her feet and she gives and good as she gets. Fighting and using her skills to get the results she needs to outsmart those that underestimate her.
As their relationship build into an unstoppable force, Matvei realizes just how much his little runner means to him and the way he described her ❤️ “She’s the smartest person I’ve ever met. Not in some show-off way. She’s just like... always ten steps ahead.” I lean back against the seat and pause. “She’s obviously gorgeous, but even like... when she’s sleeping. When she wakes up. When she’s sitting in my T-shirt drinking coffee and giving me shit for taking it black.”
There were twists that, though I expected, didn't leave me feeling like it was lacking, more so as thrilled at how it played out so smoothly. To top it off, how he treats her like the queen she is, damned it was phenomenal.
Unhinged is the fourth installment of the Bratva Kings series. Anissa has been running for a few years. She left Rafail the Pakhan standing at the altar and has been hiding ever since. She is really good at disappearing. She has amazing forgery skills. She’s intelligent and resourceful. She can change her appearance and look completely different in order to blend into crowds. She knows one day she will be found but she will keep hiding until that happens. What will happen when they finally come for her?
Matvei has been tasked with bringing her home. You don’t betray the bratva and get away with it. He will do anything to prove his loyalty. Being the one in charge of cyber security has its perks. Using his hacking skills, he has been following all her fake identities until one lucky break leads him straight to her. Rather than take her right away, he studies her. He watches her movements, how she interacts with people and notices she is alone. She doesn’t have friends and is always ready to pack up and go. When he finally makes his move, Anissa does not make it easy for him. He wants her but will she even let him get close to her?
Jane Henry had me feeling so much with this book. I was crying many times. I felt emotion so deep like I was there in person. The heartfelt and heartbreaking moments crushed me. You feel the love between family. That bond never wavers no matter how much it’s tested. The chemistry is off the charts and the attraction is intense. However, the longer they spend together, the more they learn about each other. We see Anissa break down her walls and Matvei opens up in a way he never has. Who knew a complete psychopath could be so gentle? They are perfect for each other whether a match made in heaven or hell, they are the ideal sexy couple. Even their jobs are perfectly paired. A hacker and a master of disguises along with forgery skills? They can take on the world. This story was filled with action, suspense, heartbreak and a lot of spice. The epilogue was beautiful and left me wanting to know more. I am beyond excited for the next book. Bravo Jane Henry, bring on the next one.
Matvei & Anissa So, this is the fourth book in the Bratva Kings series, and while it technically works as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the first three books first—it really helps to have that background, especially when it comes to understanding the characters and their dynamics. I actually remember Anissa from book one. She made a huge impact back then by dishonoring the Kopolov family—she ditched the head of the Bratva, which nearly tore the family apart. Talk about drama! Now, fast forward to this book. We start off with Matvei rejoining the Bratva, determined to clean up the mess his brother made. But that’s not all—he’s out for revenge. He wants Anissa to pay for what she did, and he’s serious about it. Meanwhile, Anissa’s been lying low, working as a contractor for the Irish Mafia. That is, until her past catches up with her—and guess who’s sent to drag her back? Yep, Matvei. Only he’s not just bringing her in; he’s claiming her. Things get intense real fast. Both Matvei and Anissa are clever, calculated, and yeah… a little Unhinged—which, fittingly, is the title of the book. They’re both scarred by their pasts, stubborn as hell, and totally unwilling to admit how much alike they really are. But once Matvei gets her back and Anissa realizes he’s not letting go, everything starts to shift. They find some shaky common ground, and that’s when the secrets and lies begin to unravel. And let me tell you, it puts everyone—them, the Kopolov family, everyone—in serious danger. From enemies they never saw coming! Honestly, I did not see some of those twists coming! It was such a gripping read, and I flew through it. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next! Huge thanks to @janehenryauthor and @valentinepr for the ARC—this was such a fantastic read! . The Bratva Kings series is a spinoff from the Wicked Vows series. The story takes place in Zalivka, Russia, near Moscow—where the Kopolov Bratva is in control. After Anissa Laurent disappeared when she was supposed to marry Rafail, the Kopolov Bratva still holds her accountable. Matvei is permitted to find her, bring her back, and even claim her.
“Anissa Laurent is a ghost—a master of deception, a woman who has slipped through the cracks of the underworld. Untraceable. Untouchable. Unclaimed. Until me. I made it my life’s mission to find her, drag her back where she belongs, and punish her for her betrayal.”
“She never swore an oath, but she ran from a promise. From my family. That makes her my responsibility, my obsession. My craving. She doesn’t get to run from us twice.”
Rafail: “I want to give her to you, Matvei. You’ve earned her. But make no mistake. If you can’t bring her in alive and under your control, she will be eliminated.”
The story will have Matvei bidding his time, tracking down Anissa, who is living in Ireland and doing contract work for the Irish. He doesn’t rush in and grab her, he toys with her like a cat with a mouse. Anissa loves disguises, and her life, staying safe, revolves around those disguises. She may have escaped the Kopolov Bratva, but she is only a well-paid tool for the Irish Mafia. Her days are numbered, she is hunted, not only by the Bratva, but Interpol—who will get her first?
The story has the good, the bad, and the evil of people. There are always challenges, battles, and control within the Bratva. There will be some shocking surprises revealed in the story. The chemistry between Matvei and Annisa is yin and yang. Will there be an alliance between the Bratva and Mafia?
The blood debt must be balanced—where will Anissa fit into the Kopolov family? The story does not end on a cliffhanger, but with words that definitely indicate this series isn’t over yet.
Unhinged is a Dark Mafia Stalker Romance and the 4th book in the Bratva Kings series. The MMC falls first and harder and the FMC is smart, sassy and quick on her feet. Both are unhinged and perfect for each other and the fast paced, found family aspect in this emotional tale deserves a 4 star rating that I highly recommend to mafia addicts.
I sincerely Thank @valentine_pr_ and @janehenryauthor for my ARC and in return I voluntarily promised an honest review.
Matvei Kopolov is an enforcer for the Kopolov Russian Bratva and he's sworn a vow of loyalty with a branding of the Bratva on his back. He's on the hunt for Anissa Laurent, the untraceable ghost, who betrayed his Pakhan. Once he finds her and drags her back she will belong to him. Matvei is morally grey and unhinged from a traumatic event that burdens him with guilt.
Anissa Laurent is independently strong and an expert when it comes to disguises and forgery. She's been on the run since she escaped from marrying Pakhan Rafail Kopolov, who her twin sister ends up married to. Anissa has been hiding within the Irish Mafia, she works for them and in return they protect her...but not for long.
Matvei stalks her and plays with her psychologically since she's become complacent with the Irish. But she out smarts him and escapes his plans of putting her in a cage. He becomes obsessed with his little witch and is impressed with her intelligence.
Anissa has a traumatic past that has left her scarred emotionally and physically which makes her unhinged as well. When Matvei corners her again and brings her back to Russia she fears they are a match made in hell. But the one thing he wants the most is the one thing she cannot give him and when he finds out it may just cause a war...
Jane Henry certainly wasn’t playing around when she titled this book unhinged that’s for sure.
Our MMC Matvei, if you haven’t guessed from the title yes he is completely unhinged and possessive when it came to his woman Anissa. He was a man on a mission which was to bring Anissa home and make her his.🤭
I personally felt like this book has come full circle because if you’ve been following along in the series you will remember that Anissa is the woman who fled from Matvei’s cousin Rafail which caused him to search high and low for her only to marry Polina who he believed at the time was Anissa but she just so happened to be Anissa’s twin, of course she was unaware of this.
Now, Matvei has always had a fascination with Anissa and now he sees an opportunity when he is tasked to bring her home. Let’s just say she is a woman not to be misunderstood. She is feisty, cunning and she certainly doesn’t make it easy for Matvei to track her, but he is a man that certainly loves the chase👀
The chemistry between this couple was impeccable and the banter between them I absolutely loved it👏🏼 These two went toe to toe with one another, but at the same time they were each other’s support systems. When Anissa is threatened you best be sure that man was full steam ahead in all manners to protect her.
Anissa got to meet her sister, while it was quite a surprise that she had family still alive she was open to getting to know her sister and cementing that family bond. I also liked that Rafail and Anissa managed to smooth things over and he accepted her into the family.
I absolutely love this series and how fast the men are falling for their women. I cannot wait to dive back into this world in the near future.
Thank you so much to the author and VPR who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭
