All Mia wanted to do was finish her business degree, land a job just so that she can take care of her mom. The night she is almost was attacked by some member of the Reds, a pack of wolves, is the night her life changes; not only does she meet Lucas the desirable-tormented-protective alpha, but she is targeted by the pack of wolves who want nothing more than to get payback for the ass kicking Lucas dished out.

Lucas has tried to keep his distance, but fate had more in store for Mia and Lucas, making it harder and harder to keep his distance. The day he lost his mate, he lost a piece of himself, turning everyone and everything away concentrating on his work...but now that Mia is not only consuming his mind, she is only an office away causing an inner battle within him.

Keeping her safe was the only truly worthwhile thing he was doing now.

The Reds are not only a threat to Mia's life but to his family's business, SparkTech, as well. Can he keep her safe, his hands away from her and manage to sign the deal with LoopSource before the Reds do ???

Desired is the first in a six part series following the story of Lucas and Mia. The sexual tension between Lucas and Mia is enough to keep you interested but there is so much more; the issues that the Reds pose for them, Luca's past and Mia's hidden secret all drew me in leaving me wanting more. At first I didn't know what to think about dot-com entrepreneur shifters, but it totally worked, how? I can't really say, it is different than other shifter books out there not necessarily focusing on the paranormal aspect but their human side as well. I'm definitely going to continue with their story as I am curious to see where it will go from here.

Well shit on crackers... just as it started to get interesting it ended. Fuck, this is why I'm starting to truly dislike short serial books.

The only time they are of use to me is when I'm ass deep in studies at Uni. They give just enough of a fix to get on with my studies. Times like now, it just pisses me the Fuck off.

Desired is episode one of six in the True Alpha series by Alisa Woods, scheduled to release September of 2014.



I will keep this review simple and to the point because this installment is only 80 pages long. The synopsis is enough to let you get the gist of the story-line.

I enjoyed the story; it is a NA Paranormal Romance that ends with a cliffhanger. And because it’s only 80 pages long, you want more. I felt like this was an introduction to the characters in the story. It gave you some background and then a dive into a story-line that promised, right before it came to an abrupt stop. And because I understood that the intention was to leave you hanging, I couldn’t fault the lack of fulfillment. I will continue with the next installments because the premise is good.

This will be released September 2014. This book is told from a 3rd person perspective. I love paranormal and alpha males so when I was offered a copy of Desired (which contained both) from the author in exchange for my honest review I had no quarrels to saying yes. The True Alpha Series contains six episodes total and let me start off by telling you that Desired has a MAJOR cliffhanger. Just when it was getting good, you’re left with a jaw dropping teaser at the end and you’re frenzied for more. I hope the next episode comes out soon because I’m dying to find out the what, when, and how. I like the storyline and the writing was very descriptive. I was able to see every scene play out in my head.



Mia is a college student trying to pay her way through college. She doesn’t want anybody to know her secret, that she’s a shifter. She fears that it can jeopardize her future. While working at the nightclub The Deviation, Mia finds herself cornered and defenseless when she’s encircled by three shifters with mischief in their eyes. The Deviation was a ripe hunting ground for shifters and humans. Sensing these guys wanted to hurt her, her inner wolf wouldn’t let them do whatever they had planned without a fight. Then all hell breaks loose and this is where Lucas enters the picture.




Lucas is a broken alpha wolf. He lost his mate and a part of himself. He wasn’t fit to be alpha for anyone anymore, so he left his pack and gone rogue. Living in the wild and almost forgot what it was like to be human. His brother Lev came looking for him and pulled him out of the dark hole of despair and took him back to the family business, SparkTech. While at The Deviation looking for his companion for the night, he saves Mia from the 3 shifters. There was a strange pull that Mia had on him, but he said to himself that human girls were a distraction, a temporary pleasure to sate his longing. But Mia haunted him. Her scent pulled him in and he wanted to claim her. He had no idea why but she was important to him.

Though the book was only 80 pages it did pack a scrumptious story for me to want to continue and forge ahead with the series.

3.5 PROTECTIVE STARS

Lucas Sparks is at a club, when he feels an overwhelming protectiveness for bartender Mia Fiore. That same night she's attacked by a rival pack, The Reds, when Lucas decides to protect her from them, thinking she's human. Mia is shocked to see the men shift in front of her. She's never seen it from anyone else but herself. So when Lucas approaches her after the fight, she's intrigued. He's amazed that this human isn't afraid of him and even more amazed when the next Monday he figures out that she's his new intern. Determined to protect her, yet stay away from her at the same time, their push pull is more than either of them can take. Until it culminates in them coming together in a hot sexual moment. Which is when Lucas figures out that she's a shifter with no pack.

The fact that Mia just happens to be his intern is a little contrived, but the rest of it's good. Why the Red's focused on her is interested as well. I think there's more to it then either of them know and I'm definitely interested in reading the rest of the series to find out what that something may be.

I love shifter romances and this one has definitely peaked my interest.

2.5 Stars.

It's no secret I am not a huge fan of the serialized novella genre, but on occasion I am prepared to make an exception. If the synopsis piques my interest and the subsequent novellas are relatively close in release date, as was with Desired and is with the True Alpha series.

Whether a book be 40 pages or 400 pages long, I do still have a couple of requirements, and the main one being a storyline, if you are releasing something in a serialized version, you need to be offering something in each installment to encourage the reader to want to return and find out more.

And this is why I am giving Desired, my ‘average’ rating, apart from the beginning and the last sentence of this novella, absolutely nothing happened, there wasn’t really any character development, I found the whole ’I need to protect her, but I don’t know why’ coupled with the insta-lust, really odd seeing as the chemistry between Lucas and Mia almost non-existent, and dare I say it but there was a certain aroma of FSOG doggie-style floating around at points…

I didn’t hate Desired, but I didn’t get anything out of it, and I didn’t finish it desperate to know what happens in the next part, and for me that is an integral thing if you are going to offer up your stories in this format.

This is the first NA Paranormal book I have read and I absolutely loved it. I am so happy the Author Alisa Woods told the story from both Mia and Lucas's POV. I like being able to get inside of the guys head and see what he is thinking and not just the girls. The story flowed at just the right pace. I didn't want to put it down. Mia's character was a nice change of pace. She is smart, strong and knows what she wants. She is looking to make a better life for herself and her mom. Then Lucas comes barging into her life and changes everything. Ever since that night Lucas saves her life from Lucas's rivals, the Red Wolf's, she can't seem to forget about him. Nor can Lucas forget about her. Let me start off by saying that Lucas *fans self* is one sexy as hell Alpha that will have you wanting more.  He becomes very protective of Mia. While fighting the urge to make her his. I loved the growing passion between them. But when things get too heated and the claws come out, secrets are revealed. And let me tell you, I was not expecting that ending. I thought one thing, and boy was I wrong. Gah! I can't wait till the next book. I can't wait to see where Mia and Lucas's story goes from here. 

This book is due out in September. Trust me when I say, it's a must read and you will not be disappointed.

An excellent start, fast paced with plenty of action and a cliffhanger to keep you wanting more.
Normally I don't read this type of book, not a fan of shifters and such like but I really enjoyed this. Only thing I dislike is that this is yet another novella series (my pet hate) but it redeems itself my letting you know that all 6 parts are available in 1 book at the end of October so i've pre ordered it

I really enjoyed Desired by Alisa Woods. I have only read one other paranormal book however, it is the only ONE I liked and wanted more. I can't wait for the next part of the series to be released answering so many questions. Desired has great character description and tension between the main characters.

OMG what am I not going to say about this little read. It was absolutely awesome. This new paranormal author in my opinion has it going on. Maybe I was a shifter in a past life or something but I love this venue of books.

Mia Fiore, a college at the University of Washington in Seattle, a blue eyed, dark haired girl with silky soft skin and a secret. She’s a shifter, a fact that she keeps carefully hidden from everyone. No family other than a mother Mia is working her way out of a poverty stricken life, she wants better for herself and her mother. But like most college kids she has to eat so she takes a job as a bartender in a bar slinging liquor. A hot spot not only for humans but the areas’ wolf packs. Now her wolf has her reeling on this job, the stench of perfumes from the scantily dressed females combined with the heat of the males and mix that with the booze, she needs some badly needed fresh air. But she gets more than good clean air.

As Mia takes to the outside for her breath of air she’s followed by three big huge guys, but not just any guys, these are shifter, and they waste no time in relaying their intentions once they have her alone. But as they start their advance on her suddenly a lone man steps outside and saves the day of course. He’s a shifter too, a big powerful Alpha male that whoops up on the three men and believe it or not, they become submissive to him. After all he is an Alpha.

Now the three little wolves I’ll call them, go slumbering off with their tails between their legs and leaves Mia hunkered against a brick wall with a beautiful brown wolf,his fur glistening in the moonlight that’s just shifted and before her stands a naked man in all his glory. And believe me, he has some glory. His glory standing at attention she wants to salute it just looking at it. My wacky sense of humor of course, I can only imagine at this point. He reminds her of a Greek God, gorgeous with dark brown eyes, mid-twenties, chiseled face and a chest to die for, talk about the abs, with an inky black tattoo of a howling wolf mixed into a thorny tribal design. Whoa, heart stopping for sure. He looks her in the eyes and says, my name is Lucas, did they hurt you, are you ok?

Lucas Sparks, his father the owner and CEO of StarkTech, a big company in downtown Seattle, hailing from a family of shifters and a well established pack in Seattle. Lucas loses his mate and his life has basically gone to shit. He lost a part of himself when his mate died and with this tragedy he’s left his pack and goes rogue. But Lucas being an Alpha is a force to reckon with but he just can’t seem to find himself and get it back together. Now he’s a male and you can only imagine the Alpha playing into this scenario, but he’s basically horny and in need of some yum yum, so he goes out to a bar to score, which he’s never had trouble of doing, and orders a drink from a little female bartender. And this bartender has caught his attention. He’s drawn to her for a reason he just can’t understand. His eyes follow her as she’s acting a little strange and she suddenly leaves the bar and makes her way to the back of the building and disappears.

Lucas is intrigued and curious at the same time so he follows her right out of a back door of the building. He’s immediately set upon by a big guy with two full blown wolves in an alley where they have his little bartender gal backed up against a wall. This can’t be good! Well, as you can imagine, a fight ensues as Lucas shifts and whoo hooo, guess who wins? The wolves end up slinking off with their tails between their legs realizing that they have just come across an Alpha.

Lucas goes up to the woman sniffing her unique scent and introduces himself. Sparks of heat flying off both the story takes off.

This has got to be one of the best shifter books I’ve read in a while. However short as it was, I read this little book in one evening and can’t wait to continue onto the next one in this series. The book was well written and you will immediately become entranced. The author has really listened to her characters tell their story. There are no grammar mistakes, no spelling issues; the editing was phenomenal which is a big huge plus with me. The book just flows as your reading and believe me you won’t want to put it down. There is only one sex scene and it’s hot, hot, hot. Fast and hot, hot and heavy, almost a quickie, but the author definitely gets her point across.

I give this book a BIG RT five heart RT rating and the cover, well just look at it, the cover actually matches the story. I give it a beautiful RT five diamond rating. I love this first little book in this series and have already purchased the whole set and can’t wait to finish reading.

Look for my reviews on the rest of the True Alpha book as I finish them. If you’re a shifter fan, you have to read these.

First let me thank NetGalley and Sworn Secrets Publishing for giving me a copy of this book to read in return for an honest review. Secondly, just wow. I loved this novella. The story is hearty, strong and like it's main Alpha just hot. Not in an overbearing, sleazy way. It's the right mix of ego, testosterone and lust.

We meet Mia. College student, heart of gold. She wants to do what she can, save her money and work her butt off to be able to get her mom into a better living situation. She is working at a local night club as a bartender and that is how she meets trouble. Seem Seattle is made up lots of supernaturals. There are rival pack in Seattle. As we meet Lucas, a rogue wolf who works for his fathers dot-com company we see into this world. Mia, unexpecting Mia is needing air but what follows her out into the dark alley way is anything but friendly. Its members of the Red pack. The nastiest of the nasty. They are the reason weres and shifters, if you will get a bad rap, in my opinion.

There is something about Mia that draws Lucas out into the alley. She is threatened by the three wolves until the stranger she served in the bar (Lucas) comes out. There is a struggle but he saves her by asserting his dominance over the three Red wolves. His wolf makes them submit, as they are in wolf form as well. His Alpha wolf gets them to back off and he takes Mia home. He has this overwhelming need to protect her. As time passes for them and it seems they were so engrossed with each other in their dreams that when Mia walks into his office on Monday morning his alpha male ego takes over. He will do whatever he can to keep her safe. That includes making sure she is paid well, has a ride to adn from work and is kept busy. He tries to avoid her while at work but their connection is too great.

This little ditty ends with a cliffhanger. But not the usual type. My heart did thud once and I said Oh shit as I read the last sentence... so yeah its a good cliffhanger. this story is written well. It draws you into their world and encases you in the bubble of the werewolf world. Secretly hiding in the mist of the humans. You choose a side immediately and its all cheers until the bad stuff starts. I must have the rest of this series and it kills me to wait but I will complete it once the last novella is out. Which is the end of October. This is the first written work I have read of Alisa Woods but I promise it won't be the last.

Very hot and intense read!

Desired (True Alpha #1) is a fantastic opening to a series. From the very first scene I was hooked as it was full of action and attraction between the two main characters, Mia and Lucas. Mia is about to be attacked by a pack of wolves and she is very much in fear of what they will do to her.

The violence and sexual tension rises dramatically and yet Mia still longs to hide the fact that she is a shifter herself. However, the tension, fear and heightened levels of emotion are bringing her to the edge, to the point where the wolf inside her could turn loose at any time!

This scene alone is gripping and intense. The reader will not be able to put this short story down! And then comes Lucas......

With Mia needing protection from the Red Pack and Lucas finding himself being the one protecting her, the intensity reminded me a little of the introduction to J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood, Dark Lover, with Wrath and Beth. Albeit, shifter instead of vamp!

Bear in mind that this is just the first scene! The sexual attraction and tension continues between these two characters when Mia begins her work experience the following week and the company is owned by the pack in which Lucas belongs.

Working so closely causes conflict within Lucas. He wants Mia just about as bad as you can possibly imagine and yet the only one for him, his mate, has been deceased for some time and he never believed that he would feel these feelings again. Maybe he even feels like he is betraying his mate? His reactions confuse Mia at times and can bring a little fear. At the same time she tries to conceal her inner wolf and yet her feelings are just as strong as Lucas'.

You find your heart pounding and blood boiling during the scenes of protection and the intensity of Lucas sets you on fire. It warms you at the same time as making your hairs stand on end as you feel the temptation and fear from Mia.

Desired is a fantastic way to start a series and gain some pretty hardcore fans. There is a brilliant storyline and amount of description packed into a full short story. It wraps up perfectly but leaving the reader wanting more. I cannot wait for the second episode!!

Paranormal shifter romance sereis and it s off to a good start!
Our characters as we know them now!

Lucas Sparks, Vp of Spark Tech, alpha wolf, former pack leader is down and out, he lost his mate and is barely back from the brink.

Mr Sparks, Lucas 's father, his former pack leader and CEO and president of Spark Tech.

Lev Sparks, Lucas 's younger brother and former beta of his pack , works at Spark tech also

Mia Fiore, college student , looking to finish her business degree , bartender at Devationn , wants to get a real job in the business world and help her mom out of the slum she lives in , Oh and she is a wolf too, but she hides it!

The short synopsis of this first serial,
Mia works at a bar that Lucas visits were he sts in and protects her from an attack by 3 wolves from the Rival red pack, she sees him shift and isnot shocked or scared by it and promises to keep his secret. Lucas takesherback to her dorm fighting an overwhelming attraction for her an his inner wolf wanting her. Lucas then spends the next week no being able to get his mind off of Mia.
Mia is excited to be starting her internship at Sparks technology , she is taken bytye receptionist to an office to be introduced to the Vp she will be working with and realizes it is the very man she has been fantisizing aboutb since he saved her in the alley.
Lucas spends the next week trying to avoid this women he is attracted to while still tryingntomprotect her from the red pack, but not without out a few passionate missteps leading to an all out get her naked and take her, and then the author leaves you hanging for more when he finally figures out she is a shifter too!

Have to get the rest of the serial going nuts now wanting to know how he fully deals with this info !

Wow! Desired was certainly captivating. It provided just enough information to get my attention and then it ended. I had so many thoughts and questions. My takeaway...

- Mia and her mother were all alone in the world...or so it seemed. The mystery surrounding her absentee father made me wonder whether or not he left them alone for their own safety or whether or not he was simply a deadbeat. I'm wondering what drew Mia's mother to this dad figure. What was going on with her mother in terms of her state and why didn't she know about Mia being a shifter?

- Lucas and his dead wife - the whole thing was curious. Before I got to the end if this story, I did wonder what might have happened to her. Hmm...

- The whole rivalry thing between the Red wolves and Lucas' family made me wonder what led to the tension. Was it a woman, the marking of territory, the death of Lucas' wife? Or could it have been about Lucas' mom choosing his father over the alpha from the other pack???

- What happened to Lucas and Lev's mother anyway? I just want to know.

- Lev...I don't know that much about him but I want too. He was a sweetie.

- What was up with Mia's roommate, Jupiter? She was interesting. I kept thinking she had a dual role somewhere down the line. Hmm... Will she get to meet Lev?

I know some of what I have shared is wishful thinking and perhaps a bit cheesy, but this was such a fun read to get lost in. I would certainly read the next novella in this series. I know something big is coming!

I wrote a much harsher review for this book. I didn't feel comfortable posting it. because it's a first time author. i will say this. the book had things i really liked. for example the friendship between the MC and her friend which was just hitting at. the problem with this book is im just not into this book. the big secret. is annoying to read about while in that guys head. im in his head. in his POV. and he doesn't know the secret??? that's annoying. the smoothness of the book is broken up because its a serial novella. so it has that kinda cliffy end . which isn't something i can stand to read because it's like pulling rabbits out of coochies. your mostly like WTF was that. when you hit the end of each one. and not in a good way.the banter in some places where good tho. and i think it may be an editing issue but i would have just love to see a bit more back in forth in some of the good places. the sex was mostly ok. not great. the plot again. as a tech person. was weird. kinda like "app" gold rush plot. if i was a biz person with a true tech background. id call them app goldrush website goldrush crap. that doesn't make a S valley. so you lost me on the believability level there. so i feel so mixed about this book

2.5 ..... no i wouldn't reread. but i would read a different book from this author because there where parts i really like. where she had things going. but maybe it was writing style issues maybe it was just weirdness of plot but it just got lost in translation.

This book was a really fast read. I wanted more. I know it's a serial, but I NEED more. I cannot wait for the next book.

Mia is trying to be a normal college student. But it is becoming harder to hide her wolf form. She doesn't want anyone to know about it. She is attracted to Lucas after he saves her from another group of wolves. She doesn't want him to know she is a wolf. What will he think? How long can she hide it from him?

Lucas doesn't want a mate. He is content with random females. He is attracted to Mia right away and he doesn't understand why his wolf is calling out for a human. He tries to fight the attract. What happens when he gives in? Can he be with another wolf? Will he take another mate?

This is a great serial. I cannot wait for the next book. I wish I could have the whole serial now. This is a great shapeshifter series. If you enjoy reading these types of books then this is a must read series. If you hate cliffhangers then you should wait for them all to be out,

essentially this is the first sixth of a whole book. in this book we get to know Lucas and Mia - both are shapeshifters, but where Mia has no idea about what that means, Lucas is an Alpha with a tortured past.

I absolutely loved Lucas - the perfect tortured Alpha hero! mia is a bit more difficult to like, at least for me because she seems very shy but has some alpha vibes . Her character is in this first book not very conclusive, but I hope that will change in the next books.

I think this is a real good story but I am a bit annoyed with the series part. why is this published as a series in the first place and not as a whole book? there is no real reason for that because after finishing the first book, you only know the most basic facts about the blurb and the characters. it is like a good book was parted into parts, so that it could be sold as series, which does not make sense at all and is one reason why only four stars

I will definitely read the next books as well - if I give a whole-hearted recommandation for this series depends on the next books

Desired is book 1 of a six part serial. It is a short, easy, enjoyable read. The short length of this book did not take away from the story, I still found this book to be enjoyable and engaging and I am looking forward to continuing the series.
Mia is working as a bar tender when one night she steps outside into the back alley for some fresh air, to get away from the cloying smells of the bar patrons, which as a shifter she is very sensitive to. She finds herself cornered by three aggressive male shifters. Enter Lucas, her knight in shining armour with the powerful aura of an Alpha. He manages to run Mia's would be attackers off and takes it upon himself to ensure her safety, which, since the three attackers now have her scent, she will be in need of. 
This story flows really well, it was engaging and I liked the characters, especially Lucas, he's hot! The story continues with book 2, Guarded, which I'll definitely be picking up! If you like Lora Leigh, Laurann Dohner or Dana Marie Bell, I would say this book would definitely appeal to you.

I received a complimentary copy for an honest review and let me start off by saying that I'm glad I did.

I love paranormal romance, although it's been a while since I read one. This book reminded me why I got into this genre in the first place. As stated in the synopsis, it is a serial (first of six) and so it was fairly short.

Mia is a college student working her way to better herself and help her mother. One night, in the middle of trouble, she finds herself face to face with Lucas. He is unlike anyone she has ever met, although she has seen shifters before. The attraction between the two is immediate and neither can stop thinking about the other after that fateful night.

The premise of the story is very good and just when Mia and Lucas seem to begin some type of relationship, the cliffhanger hits you in the face. I admit, I was screaming when this happened, but that just makes me want that next installment so much more.

Desired is a wonderful book it grabs your attention from the beginning. It's a fast read that you do not want to put down. Mia is in college student trying to make a better life for herself and her mother. Mia does not want anyone to know she's a shifter. One night at works she goes outside to get a little fresh air when 3 red wolves follow her outside. At first she didn't think anything of it but when that start coming toward her that's when she realize she's in a bad situation. That's when she meets Lucas and he protects her from them.
Lucas lost his mate and he's trying to keep the darkness at bay when he meets Mia and he can't keep his self from following her with his eyes. He watches her go out of the side door and he decides to follow her after he watches the red follow her and feels the need to protect her. He fights his attraction for Mia because she is human. There's a big cliffhanger and I can't wait to read the next book!!!

I really enjoyed this short yet interesting start of a paranormal romance series. Mia is a shifter in hiding when she comes across Lucas, a fascinating and intense shifter who saves her life. Lucas is an alpha just coasting through life after the devastating loss of his mate and pack. Mia fascinates him and he is unsure what to do about it. The sexual chemistry between Mia and Lucas is intense and lava hot. I love the mix of suspense, romance and paranormal elements that make this a fascinating tale. This is the first episode in what appears to be a wonderful serial and I am looking forward to the next books. I highly recommend paranormal romance readers check out Alisa Woods True Alpha series, they will not be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this short read. Reading this in parts can be a bit frustrating, but I like the direction the author is going. A few times things seem a bit rushed for these two, which is normal in a short story, but this is a continuing story so once again I wonder why rush it. There are a few grammatical errors I assume will be corrected, but otherwise this is a great beginning

It was free so...

Well it was alright had some holes thou... Kinda spoilers ahead, you have been warned. How can shifters not smell other shifters that makes no sense. And the story moved on pretty fast. Not much backstory to the characters. They fell fast to fast in my opinion. But it wasn't painful. Just a really quick read.

I liked this book up until the cliff hanger ending, it ended like a soap opera and all I was missing was the dramatic music. I'm going to skip all this nonsense and buy the complete series. But from what I read so far, it's worth the pain in the butt.

Mia Fiore is a college student who is first set upon by some wolves when she leaves the safety of a bar she works at. Lucas Sparks notices her when she makes his drink and as the wolves leave out the door she does. He takes it upon himself to save her even though he usually doesn’t get himself involved in human affairs. After saving her he tells her she needs to quit her job. What he doesn’t realize is that she becomes his new intern that following Monday. He avoids her at all cost but eventually things get heated and truths come out. Where the next book takes us will be very revealing.

Poor mia hiding her wolf from everyone even Lucas. When the red wolves come after mia Lucas saves the day. Then when he worries about dropping her off at her dorm after the attack that she should be protected, mia shows up as his intern. Need to read. Cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

This was awesome. I couldn't put it down. Mia is perfect. She's a somewhat strong woman who knows what she wants. Lucas is a hot alpha who thinks he's broken. He's constantly sending mixed signals to Mia. There's danger all around, & lots of sexual tension.
