The 6th installment in the New Life Series advanced the story of Tori's life, but I think I was expecting more from it. Please know that I absolutely LOVE Tori, but believe this book lacked the action/adventure/etc of the first 4 books.
Tori has finally made her decision and will no longer live in hiding. She has taken the opportunity her brother has offered, and this book is about the new direction her life is taking. With Michael "on board" with their new career, the band starts the publicity circuit. Quickly she realizes what this publicity can potentially mean for her family. Being the "bad-ass" that Tori is, she is able to handle this situation and make it positive. Unfortunately, not everything is so easy to fix especially with the Feds and The Organization still looming in her life.
This installment was a lot of "back and forth" between Tori and Michael. Learning what they need and expect of each other, how to advance their relationship, and how to effectively communicate. Not that life is ever easy for these two - especially when temptation is thrown at Tori daily.
This installment has made Tori seem more human - she isn't just a lethal seductress. She is a wife, a self-conscious woman, a musician, a sister, and a real person. There were moments that I absolutely hated Tori: her attitude, her decisions, and her actions. More often then not, I found myself sympathizing with Micheal and keeping hope alive that everything will work out in the end.
There is some serious buildup for the final book - and that I can NOT wait to get my hands on! 3.5 stars
I received a copy to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here it is. Tori is trying to make it as a band member but Michael just wants to go home. She still has a feeling that something is not right. And she thinks Michael knows what it is and is keeping is from her. She and Danny/Brian are getting along great and the other members of the bank are beginning to accept her. When Colin tells about her past, she freaks out and threatens him. He has to wonder just how far she would go. Was her story real or was she telling lies to make everyone feel sorry for her? But after she puts him on the ground, he begins to see the story wasn't a lie. When two from her past shows up, she is excited to see them and Michael not so much. Brian wants to know who they are and how they got in to his house. On New Year’s day the band and there few protectors are flown to L.A. for a few spots and that is where things go from bad to worse. And Eli and Mason Hunt, another FBI man, are there to help her too. They are beginning to think that someone in the FBI is after her. So what will she do now? Can she get Michael to stay behind and protect her brother or will he fight her on this? This is another great addition to a fantastic story that will keep you on your toes and trying to guess what happens next. I can’t wait for the next installment.

3 1/2 stars rounded up to 4 stars
Tori is moving into uncharted territory - living with her newfound brother, husband and bandmates, while trying to figure out how to navigate the waters of the rock star life. She loves being with the band, but at times it seems as though she longs for the simpler life she and Michael had back in Texas.
Life is starting to settle down when Enrique and Brett show up at her door demanding to be her bodyguards. Michael isn't happy but knows if they came to protect Tori then something major is about to happen.
Tori is torn between her love for Michael and the temptation of Enrique and Brett. Enrique isn't making it easy for her to keep her vows and she's torn between the love in her heart and the desires of her body.
Tori seems to be going through and identity crisis. She's strong one moment and weak willed the next. Michael seems to be placing all of his happiness on Tori's ability to stay strong and love only him. I was impressed by Michae's backbone at the end of the book and I hope see more of it in the next one. Enrique and Brett both have standards in that they want to protect Tori but Enrique is annoying with his over the top pursuit of her.
Looking forward to the last installment of this series.

Intrepid is another fascinating instalment of Samantha Jacobey's New Life series.
There were times in this book I was loving Tori, was right with her as she took charge and struggled with her new life with the band. There were other times I really didn't like her at all.
The relationship between Michael and Tori is strained when Enrique and Brian arrive back in Tori's life. I found myself getting very angry with Tori, she really came across as selfish, at least in relation to her marriage and I hoped for once she might consider the needs of her husband before own needs.
I was also angry with Michael, always putting her needs before his is admirable but I wanted him to stand up for himself and his needs.
I love that this series makes me think and the characters are not perfect, they have struggles and sometimes I don't like them, but it makes characters more human.
Despite the turmoil in personal relationship, Intrepid felt like the calm before the storm and Ms Jacobey has set for an epic finish with book 7.
"I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads."
This is part of a series that absolutely has to be read in order, so if you are just here by chance, go and find book one and get the whole story. You will not be disappointed.
Ms Jacobey really knows how to keep the reader guessing. Each book has enough plot development to keep one guessing and enough new elements to keep it fresh. I am however delighted to think that things are going to be resolved soon. Michael may be infinitely patient, but I am not! Tori is becoming a more complex character as she tries to live a more normal life, and recognising when she is seriously out of her depth. Her fight to control her behaviour towards men is fascinating.
Even though it's been over many months that this series has been released, the characters made such an impression that is it is easy to fall back into the narrative each time.

REVIEW Tori has decided to be apart of her brothers life and his band. Tori and Michael decide to leave their home and head out on the road and back to her brothers home for now. Michael will do whatever it takes to see Tori happy and whole. Two men from her past show up and say they are there to protect her. Well Michael doesn’t want any parts of them but agrees something is going to happen.
The organization is not done with Tori yet and everyone fears for her safety. I loved reading more in this story and watching as Tori had begun to flourish. But it leaves us not knowing who or what is after her. Fantastic story.
This is book six in this brilliant series. Please read this series in order to get the most out of this authors fantastic writing skills.
Toris story continues. I felt as if this was the lull before the storm. I thought this was a slower read than the others. Don't get me wrong- I'm not complaining as I still loved it. Tori is maturing and trying to live a more normal life but things won't be that easy!
I'm so so looking forward to the last part of Torys story although I will be sad to see it end. Samantha had written a fantastic dark gritty series that is addictive. Absolutely loved it.
I had to extreme pleasure of reading this entire series from start to finish. How my heart broke and then leapt for joy when I finished this. Excellent writing and gosh the storyline was Divine. All seven of these books were delicious. You will experience every emotion know to man reading this. Don't miss out.
Very creative author with what I must say seems like a heart of gold.
This series continues to grab your imagination and watch the insanity that is still happening 🤔. The action continues, tons of compelling evidence, so much love wanted and fantastic characters that keep you rooting for them 😃. Thanks again Samantha, I can't wait to read the next book 🤓.
My rating is lower than it probably deserves as I reviewed this as an ARC not realising its a 8 year old book that's part 6 of 7 and makes very little sense out of context. That being said I really struggled with it, it dragged, Tori had no positive characteristics, nothing actually happened really.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a good series with lots of action, bot Tori, the main character still has few redeeming qualities. By book six one would expect character growth, but she is still unable to get past any of her weaknesses.
loved it im rather sad im now on the last book in series. They are the kind of books where you cant wait to see what happens next but never want the book to end
This is the 6th book in the New Life series. I honestly didn't think I'd get this far in the series. Even though there are times I want to throw my kindle, I'm glad I picked this series back up. In the first 5 books I wanted to knock Tori out multiple times. But, this time. Oh Michael Michael Michael. I wanted to rip off his man parts and shove them down his throat!! LOL
Tori has decided to join her brothers band. She is officially the new guitar player in Indelible. Tori is working with Brian and the rest of the guys on perfecting on learning the songs. Michael isn't making it easy on her. He can not stand all the hours she's spending with her brother everyday. The band's manager talks them into doing photograph's for magazines and TV talk shows to introduce Tori as the newest member.
Tori's mind and heart are all over the place. She loves Michael. But, she literally does not take his feelings into consideration, At all!! When her and Brian are working on music for like 8hrs she totally forgets about him. Poor Michael wants to go home. But, will follow Tori no matter how unhappy he is. Tori and Michael always seem to be fighting. He lets her know at the end of the tour she must choose to stay with the band or go home with him. That should of been the worst part. Brett and Enrique see her photograph on the cover of a magazine and decide to go to Tori to kept an eye on her before the Organization shows up.
Brett and Enrique show up and tell her they're her new bodyguards. Both Michael and Tori have been silently waiting for the other shoe to drop. Tori knows the Organization is out there and the FBI is not far away either. Tori, Michael, Brian and the rest of the guys agree to let them be her new bodyguards. Except that's not the only thing Enrique wants to be. He is not afraid to let it be known he wants Tori. Not even Michael.
The tension between Michael and Tori get worse and worse. Tori's head and heart is so messed up and confused it's unreal, Tori has never loved a guy as much as Michael. Except with Michael she's missing something. He will never get as dirty, rough and nasty in bed as she wants, craves and loves. It's what she's missing. Enrique can give it to her. He always has and will again. Without a question. Michael lets Tori know she can do whatever she wants and he won't ask questions or get mad. Really??!!! I was totally on Tori's side when she flipped and got mad. But, that's not the worst. A new FBI agent comes outta nowhere letting her know she's in trouble and they need to work together. She brushes him off doesn't tell the guys and they head back to L.A
Back in the first place where she felt at home. She goes to Terry's music store for promotional stuff for Indelible. Tori is beyond stressed out. But, is glad to be back by Terry. Tori gets time to head to the halfway house who was her first real home with the first people she's considered parents. She has a fantastic night. But, it doesn't last long. The halfway house was put on fire. Arson. But, why? FBI agents Eli and Mason show back up. Tori, Michael, Brett and Enrique find out quick they are on Tori's side. They want to help her and the guys. There's a leak in the FBI to the Organization. But, who and why? Tori must now finish the job they always had wanted her to do that she didn't. But, her family was attacked.
As like the first 5 books this one went just as fast paced as the rest. But, I did like this a little bit more then the first 5. Why?? Easy... DIALOGUE!!! There was a lot more of it. If this book wasn't published months ago, I'd swear Samantha listened to my bitching lol.Tori, Enrique and Michael kept constantly pissing me off., In Tori's defense she didn't have the proper life growing up. So, she's not use to relationships and how to deal with men. Because, we all know how men are!! But, with that being said. We're starting to see a completely different side to Tori that we've yet to see. Tori isn't as bad ass and evil and cold as always. Tori is getting soft. She is starting to really care about more people. Terry's words "They'll always be people" keep playing in her head. We Enrique has no class. He knows she's married to Michael and loves him. Yet, he touched Tori every time he was next to her. He man obviously didn't know the word No in any language he spoke. And, Michael. Grow a huge pair already. Stop letting Tori do and say whatever she wanted too already. Just because he loves her doesn't give her the right to act out because you won't treat her like the nasty whore she is! You'd think she'd want different. He needed to knock out Enrique and knock Tori down a few notches. Other then that I liked this book. I can not wait to see how this series ends. I really hope Tori, Michael, Brian and the rest of the guys she cares about end up happy and safe.
Determined to make the best of the situation she now finds herself in, Tori promises herself that she'll do everything possible to come out on top. Faced with several tough decisions, she soon realizes that life has never been what she's wanted it to be. Though she's made progress in some aspects of her life, she's not quite content with the way things have gone. Deep inside, there's something missing, though she isn't quite sure as to what it is.
Though she's now a part of her brother's band, Tori knows that appearances are always deceiving. The band is just a front, a way for her deal with the backlash of what has yet to come. With every day that passes, she clamors for something better. Something that will pull her out of the fog that threatens to consume her by the second. Her inner demons are slowly clawing to the surface, determined in showing her exactly what she's missing.
As if that's not enough, those she'd left behind and in the past are slowly insinuating themselves into her life again. Tori's done her best to forget Brett and Enrique, and what they represent. She's tried everything to live a normal life, though now she knows that will never be possible. Sooner or later, she knows she'll need to confront everything she's done. Part of her knows it's going to be difficult. The question is, how much more will she be able to endure before she breaks completely?
Another startling addition to the New Life series, Intrepid dives into the heart of the ensuing controversy that surrounds Tori and those she's come across. She's lived a very tough life and no longer knows who she can or can't trust. Heck, she's not even sure if she can trust herself. Samantha did a great job in showing us more of Tori's vulnerabilities, as well as how much she can take. The girl is determined in making a better life for herself no matter what those she comes across dishes out to her.
It so sucks that a good many try to take advantage of her, though. I get that they want to make sure she does exactly as she's supposed to. The one thing that also bothers me is Tori's depravity in doing what needs to be done. She's suffered so much already. Does she really need to sink into the darkness like she does just to make sure she gets her point across? Overall, Intrepid does tie up quite a few loose ends, but it does open up a whole new can of worms. Still, Tori is a headstrong character and she eventually gets things done. I do hope that she gets her happy ending soon enough.
When past and present collide how do you escape your fate?

The REVIEW:
The Good: Tori is a completely entertaining character. She was raised to be an assassin, on the run from drug lords, and biker gangs and even the FBI. This was book 6 in the series, but it brings so much more depth to Tori. I was completely enthralled with the characters and the roller coaster of emotions that the book brought forth. I even found myself rooting for Michael and that tells me I'm emotionally invested in this series.
The Bad:
I liked the changes in Tori, but that said it at times gave us a hmmm where did the hardened bad ass go and then again why does Michael hand all his happiness on Tori?
The Rating: 4.0 stars
We're looking forward to reading and seeing just how this series wraps up.
4 Stars I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
This was a great read and a great continuation of the story. To understand the story, you must read the whole series in order to get the whole picture. Tori has come a long way since book 1, and you really get a sense of that in book 6. She is definitely developing more awareness of herself, right and wrong, and more normal feelings in certain situations. I felt this book was a much slower paced read, and I spent the first huge portion of the book in anticipation of what was going to happen. It is hinted at that the Organization will be coming after her, among other things, but build up to the action was much more drawn out. I’m not sure if this is a statement of the person that Tori is turning into. She has become a bit more mature in how she handles some things and she gives a bit more thought into responding to situations instead of just jumping in and playing the role of assassin. There also seemed to be less graphic content in this book compared to the others. The scenes between Tori and the men were still described in great detail that made you feel her desire, there just seemed to be less scenes all together. It did give some more time for the story to develop, but the book seems to have lost some of the edge of the first installments. I was a little disappointed that it seemed to lack that edginess, but it didn’t deter me from finishing the book. I am definitely looking forward to the last installment, and a little sad to think that it will be over soon. If you haven’t started this series, I still highly recommend picking it up. It is unlike anything else I have ever read, and despite the disturbing subjects covered, it is a captivating story.
After much debating what to do for the best and trying to choose between the 2 men in her life. Tori's life is finally starting to look up. Her and Michael have decided to up sticks and leave their home and go and stay in Brian's house. Bless Michael he really will do anything for the girl he loves.
Tori has also decided to join her brothers band in order to have a normal life but this is Tori's life normal is never going to be a option and the past is out to get her.
Out of the Brett and Enrique from Tori,s past turn up and whilst they say they want to protect Tori that is all. As you can imagine Michael is best pleased about this. But Michael knows that Tori needs extra protection. With danger lurking and knowing that neither the Organization nor the FBI are going to give up on her, the question becomes who will get to her first?
But Enrique has other plans for Tori and doesn't care who he tramples on to get what he wants.
Tori starts to struggle now Enrique back in her life, as she knows that he can give her something that her husband chooses not to. This doesn't change how she feels for Michael. It is just a different set of feelings but will she withstand the temptation of Enrique?
We know by now that Tori is more than capable of looking after herself but with danger lurking everywhere she has no idea who they are or what is after her or when they will strike.
Tori is making the best of her situation, fighting to find a way to make sure that she comes out of the current situation intact. The band is not normal, nothing is normal for her, everything has a hidden meaning and is cloaking the truth but she hangs on to the hope that the deceit will wash over her and that she can make good on her promise to herself to hang on to the her that she wants to me not what they expect from her. But with all the subterfuge, sanity is hard to come by as is comfort... old demons and players from her past hit hard with Tori and she continues to struggle as not to fall back into old ways. She can’t seem to shake them free, no matter how hard she tries. I had issues with just how far she was prepared to go in some respects but I also got the fact that she was trying to get it over and done with and that most of her actions where mechanical in response, automatic, with no consideration or emotion for anyone and any consequences and that was also for the effect that they had on her. The spectre of what is to come looms large in her life and her sanity is hanging by a thread but this young woman is almost ready to shatter into a million pieces, her resolve is tenuous but her heart is huge and she has had a taste of life on the right side of happy and she hopes that she can make it back.
Tori's decision to be in the limelight with her brother's band could turn out to be the best decision she has ever made. On the other hand it could be the stupidest. Enrique and Brett are back to protect Tori but Enrique wants more and he really doesn't care who gets trampled on in the process. Just another example of selfish behaviour from the men in her life.
Tori struggles with Enrique back in her life, knowing that he can give her something that her husband chooses not to. This does not diminish how she feels for Michael. It is just a different set of feelings but will she withstand the temptation?
With danger lurking and knowing that neither the Organization nor the FBI are going to give up on her, the question becomes who will get to her first?
This was an interesting read as we see the dynamics in the group change yet again with Enrique and Brett's arrival. Michael is determined to give Tori everything that he feels she needs or wants, even if it means Enrique playing a part. While Enrique takes every opportunity to play Tori to get what he wants. While Tori feels the need to try and please everyone and not upset them, which is possibly an influence from her old life. This instalment felt very much like the lull before the storm.
After the let down of the last book. I was a little bit worried going into this book. My feelings with this series is all over the place. I like it than, than I don't.
In this book we find Tori is moving into uncharted territory - living with her newfound brother, husband and bandmates, while trying to figure out how to navigate the waters of the rock star life.
Her life is starting to settle down when Enrique and Brett show up at her door. Honestly I can't stand Enrique, he just seemed not to be able to let go of Tori and wanted to ruin her relationship with Michael.
Again I'm frustrated with Tori in this story. I really wanted to like her in these books. From the beginning I really felt for her and want she went through. But really ever since the fifth book she's just been going down hill. She again seemed very selfish in this book.
Michael kind of irritated me in this book also. He always just seems to be trying to please Tori. Do what Tori wants and Tori says. He just seems to want to keep her happy and not thinking of himself. Though he did seem to put his foot down at the end of the book.
I'm giving Intrepid 3.5 Stars out of 5 stars.

"My future feels uncertain, but it isn't. It's been waiting for me to accept it, and to take my final role."
Ah Baby Girl I was shaking my head in disappointment several times throughout this installment. Don't get me wrong I love Tori, she has emerged relatively whole from her past but we see her selfishness in this story. She causes so much hurt to the ones who love her by playing up to her past and not taking ownership of her actions. The strong Tori of book 3 is lost to a woman who feels torn between nasty sex and love, blaming the ghosts of her past for inner turmoil.
I felt frustrated by her and Michael. I wanted to shake him and hoped he would turn the tables on Tori as I'm sure she wouldn't want to share her husband. Their relationship was never going to be smooth sailing but Tori just seems to enjoy the drama....
As their relationship spirals out of control, more chess pieces are being moved into play. With the FBI and The Organization closing in her book 7 is one I can't wait to read.
Another "story" one, Intrepid sees Tori joining the band and attempting to handle the world of celebrity. Of course, by now, we know that Tori's attempts at "normal" never really end up going quite to plan and so there are a few blips now and then.
Adding to all this, a pair of surprise guests on Christmas day cause tension with Michael, confusion for Tori and, after the first real family Tori has known is attacked, the FBI to finally, in a fashion, show their hand.
The scene has been set. The secrets are, for the most, part revealed. The time has come for Tori, to finally do what needs to be done, and take down the Organization, before they take down her and everyone she loves.
Although I still enjoyed this one, until the last few chapters there wasn't really that much that happened exactly, so for me it's the lowest rating of the series at 3.75, only to show how it rated against the other instalments for me. Going off how it ended though, the series finale, Avenged, should be a corker. Bring it on!

This time around we gain even more insight into the inner conflicts Tori is grappling with. We see her struggle to learn to love herself, which she must do if she and Michael are going to have their HEA. It was also fascinating watching all the players begin to take their places, getting ready for the sh*t to hit the fan, which I'm sure is going to happen in book 7. As to how that confrontation will go down, and what the outcome will be, I would be afraid to hazard a guess. One thing this series has made clear: Samantha Jacobey is not an author who is in any way predictable. She is a master at keeping her readers on the edge of their seats, anxious to find out what is going to happen. I will predict, though, that the next, and final, book in this series will be a real humdinger, and I can't wait to read it.
Tory has so much going on in this story. Last installment she founds out that she has a brother that just happens to be in a band. He wants to build a relationship with his sister, but then she has Michael as well.
Tory has an ex, Enrique that steps back in her life, my goodness, wanted by all sorts of men.... How lucky is Tori? Michael and Tori's relationship is going through hard times with Enrique and everyone back in the picture.
I wish Tori would see what she has in front of her, a loving husband that would do anything for her, even turning the other way....
You get a little more clarity in this story, but I have a feeling so much more is going to happened in the next installment.
I am a huge fan and have loved the story that this series has, you won't be disappointed. Great Job!
Intrepid is the sixth book in the New Life series. This book is about the new direction Tori's life is taking. She has decided that she will not hide. She found out she had a brother and takes him up on his offer to join his band. The band begins a publicity circuit and that is when things get messy for Tori and everyone around her.
In this book Tori is less of a badass and more like a regular person. You get to see the human side of her as a wife, musician, sister and a self-conscious woman. Michael is as sweet as ever and no matter what he's always by Tori's side. I found myself feeling sorry for Michael and hoping for them to find their HEA.
Ms Jacobey has done it again! This was a great quick read. This book ended and has me wanting more. Actually it has me NEEDING to know how Tori's story will end. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.
I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.
Wow I am so loving this series, and the characters just keeps getting better, I have read the last five books, and I love them all, but this one I did not like it that much, this book got me so mad that I did not wanted to keep on reading it, I just wanted to skip it to the last book, but I end up finishing the book, and I like how it end it.
The reason that I was not liking the book was cause of Tori, her attitude towers Michaels I was not liking, she was disrespecting him as a husband, and not trusting him at all, I guess I grow to love Michael characters, and the way that he is with her, the love that he got for her is pure, now I am just so ready to read book seven, Author Samantha Jacobey THANK YOU for this WONDERFUL AWESOME SERIES LOVE IT.
This is the sixth book in the New Life series. You must read the previous 5 first, it is a continuation.
Tori is trying to be a band member with her brother, Brian. Michael wants nothing more than to go back home to Texas and to keep making their life there. Tori knows that something is coming though, she just doesn't know exactly what and from who. Will it be the Organization, or will it be the FBI? She is being pushed and pulled in every direction. She is lost. She doesn't really know what she wants. She's not the hardass that she was in all the other books. More emotions are coming out in her, which is a good thing.
There are parts in this book that I just wanted to slap Michael for saying something so absolutely stupid! Tori does need to start telling people her feelings though.
This book is a great build up for the final story. Can't wait to start on it.
