Like most writers, I've worked at many jobs in my life, including teaching pre-school until I completed my master's degree in Composition Theory. Between 1993 and 2006, I taught college English while writing fiction on the side, some independently and some with my husband and life-long partner J.C.

Over the years, we've lived in Washington State, Idaho, Colorado, and now moved just south of Portland, Oregon. I love the Northwest, and it's a great place to write.

We have a lovely and talented daughter, Jaclyn, who lives in Houston, Texas along with our wonderful and talented son-in-law, Paul.

J.C. and I sold Dhampir in 2001, which changed our lives considerably. It was published in January 2003, and we've published a book in the Noble Dead Saga every year since. In May of 2006, we were both able to quit our teaching jobs and move into full time writing.

Recently, I've begun writing romance/suspense novels, beginning with: Alone with a Soldier. I am so glad my books have found an audience because I love to write fiction more than anything else in the world... and I'm not really good at anything else.

Book 3 of the Mist-Torn Witches series sees Céline and Amelie Fawe heading back into the land of their birth, Shetâna, to do a job for Prince Damek who once tried to have them killed.
Like the previous two books this one involves a mysterious murder, but the murders keep happening and it is soon obvious that no one is what they appear to be at all. This one grabs you from the beginning.
Hendee is great at character development and it was nice to see Céline get some much needed growth and the spotlight for a while. The previous book featured a lot of growth for Amelie. I also like that the witches may have made a terrible new enemy by the end of the book.
The potential for this series really is unlimited. I would like to see some new powers or new nuances to their powers for the sisters, but I also see no end of their troubles.
I think what I like the most about this series is that both the two main female characters and the two main male characters are allowed to be strong when they can. That is, one character or gender does not show strength at the expense of the others. They all have the potential to work as a greater team but finding their roles is the trick. In any case there is plenty of more room for future character growth and that is exactly what I want in my series reading.
While these books are set in a fantasy realm of magic, witches, ghosts and even vampires these are solidly murder mysteries. Can't wait for Book 4!

*My Thoughts*

Witches With the Enemy is the third installment in the Mist-Torn Witches series by author Barb Hendee. When Sisters Céline and Amelie Fawe fled Shetâna under threat of death nearly a year ago (see the first installment called The Mist-Torn Witches if you haven't already), they vowed to never return under any circumstances. They've since found themselves living in the village attached to Castle Seone working for Prince Anton and Lieutenant Jaromir. Less than a year later, they are summoned back to Shetâna to aid the man who once tried to kill them---Prince Damek, Anton's psychopathic brother.

Another solid book by the author. It's a bit maddening that I am only the 27th reviewer, for this book is so much better than many YA fantasy novels with tens of thousands of reviews. I feel like banging my head in frustration over this, though probably the author feels 1000 times as bad as I do about it. There is a romance in the series, but it's very slow burn. Also it's nice how the characters on the covers are actually the characters inside the book.

So yay for the book, and DAMN the vagaries of the publishing game. This series deserves a lot more readers.

I once again declare my love/hate with this series. There was a lot of potential for this series, but the sisters aren’t given a chance to use their gifts to their fullest until the very end when Amelie sees the killer’s past right at the apex of the action and once again screeching the whole story to a halt. I will still read the next one, because I am still hoping to see more from these characters.

Prince Anton’s brother, Damak, has a new bride lined up but when her family comes to his castle to negotiate the betrothal, her family members start dying. Someone is trying to stop this wedding from happening.

Damak knows that Anton and their father have used the Fawe sisters and their gifts in the past. Céline’s ability to see the future and Amelie’s ability to see into the past have caught several killers. So Damak has requested that Anton, bring his new seers to help determine who is behind the deaths.

Anton doesn’t want Céline or Amelie anywhere near his brother, but he can’t figure out how to decline without looking bad to their father. This time Anton himself will accompany the sisters to his brother’s castle with a small grouping of soldiers, leaving Lieutenant Jasomir behind to keep Anton’s people safe.

The sisters are warned never to be alone with anyone in the castle, but especially with Damak. There is nothing Damak likes better than to destroy anything the Anton favors. When he realizes that Anton is harboring some affection for Céline, he waits like a spider for a chance to be alone with the pretty seer.

Anton will keep the sisters safe while they try to determine who will be next and flush out the killer before he can succeed in stopping the wedding.

THOUGHTS:
As I said in my prior reviews, there is one problem with basis of this series in that in each story, Amelie’s gift of seeing the past will show us the killer and their reasons behind the killings. When this happens, the big build up, usually involving the killer trying to kill Amelie, hence why she is touching them, and all the action stops so we can tiptoe through the killer’s thoughts. In this story especially, my brain started going blah, blah, blah, because there was way too much information being doled out about the why and wherefores to the point and didn’t care why anymore. This is our killer. This person is a selfish ass. Now stop them. We didn’t need to be dragged through every little offense…blah, blah, blah. Again, we learned more about the killer than we have spent time getting to know the sisters.

Céline knows her herbs and medicines and she now no longer fakes being a seer. She is attracted to Anton, but know it can’t go anywhere because he is a Prince and she is a peasant. And…and…

Amelie thought she had no psychic talent so she became the protector of her sister. She likes to wear men’s trousers and shirts and is good with a knife. And…and…and she has been forced to wear a dress in the last two stories which makes her cranky. And…and…

That’s it. That’s all we really know about the sisters besides one sees the future and one sees the past. This series has potential and I would love to see the author flesh out the characters more.

In this story, we do learn a little more of the dynamics of the two brothers and their relationship, including with their father, but learning much more about Damak than about Anton. We find out the Damak is more than just a tyrant, he is a true sociopath. He cannot seem to understand feelings, especially love and affection, and this is what leads to his desire to destroy everything that Anton shows an interest in or a talent towards. At one point he gets Céline alone and although it seems he intends to cut her up and rape her, he doesn’t even appear to be excited about hurting her. It truly is more an interest in destroying her because Anton seems to like her, then him being the type who gets off on hurting people.

We finally see an alpha Anton when he stops his brother from harming Céline, but then he gets all wishy-washy again later by lamenting if he came off too harshly to his brother. It was a true “are you kidding me” moment.

Jasomir was left behind for this story so there wasn’t much in the Jasomir/Amelie corner of the story, but there was a sweet moment at the end when they return home and Jasomir stops by simply to see for himself that she was okay. Whether this becomes his attempt at friendship with her, or the first step in working around his belief that they can’t be together because he is married to his job, we will have to wait and see in the next story.

A check of Goodreads was a little confusing since I would have sworn there were postings for book 4 and 5 in the series, but when I checked again nothing came up either on Goodreads or on the authors website. I am hoping there is a book 4 and we can finally focus on the girls and their new lives in the little town and develop these characters past the superficial, we have the gift of sight. We have learned more about secondary characters then we know about the sisters.

Received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I liked it but I don't think I'm going to continue reading the series. Each book is the same. The sisters solve a mystery, one sister flirts with Jaromir and one sister flirts with Anton.

In this book we finally meet Anton's evil brother, Damek, and see Anton interact with his father.

Eh. Overall the book was forgettable. And I didn't like the character of Rochelle. She was scheming and now the sisters are her enemy.

I really enjoy this author's books, and have enjoyed this series particularly.

The series has a great mix of well-crafted plots, multi-faceted world-building and layered and interesting characters.

I love the two sisters Celine and Amelie as the main characters. They are totally different but make a great pair together. Their abilities as seers make them invaluable to Prince Anton and others, and thereby put them into complicated, sometimes dangerous situations. In this case they are trying to solve several murders.

The world has all the typical jockeying for power and intrigues of any royal situation and that is used to good effect to build suspense and create excitement for a reader.

I really enjoy Barb Hendee's writing and recommend her books to anyone who enjoys this genre.

When I began Witches with the Enemy, I had ZERO expectations. Heck, I don’t even remember requesting the ARC from NetGalley, or downloading it to my kindle. And I’ve always been forthcoming with how I chose my next read: I dive into the first chapter of three random novels and see which story seizes my attention (and holds it) first. However, when I read the prologue of Witches with the Enemy (before I even reached chapter one), I knew could not stop. I HAD to know more. I HAD to see where this crazy beginning was going. Truth is I couldn’t put the novel down even when I tried. Barb Hendee exceeded my expectations, and left me in complete awe of her simple, yet delightful writing.

Witches with the Enemy is the third novel in The Mist-Torn Witches series and told from multiple perspectives. Having begun the novel without knowing this, I can say that as a reader, it is not necessary to read the first two novels before diving into this one. I was so enraptured by the wildness of the storyline I didn’t care about any of the relationships/friendships that might have formed in Hendee’s previous two books. The author does a wonderful job of weaving in backstory, though sometimes too much, without making me feel as though I missed key elements from the characters’ lives. Witches with the Enemy is easy to slip into, and it’s even easier to get lost in the world. The simplicity of Hendee’s writing allows the reader to just sit back and enjoy the story.

The novel centers around two sisters each with a special power. With a single touch, Céline can see a person’s future and Amelie, the younger sister, can see their past. The two women are strong, independent, compassionate and are not afraid to speak their minds (or hold their tongues) when necessary. I enjoyed following their story and watching them use their talents. The sisters are asked by the man who essentially gave them refuge in his territory, Prince Anton, to travel to their homeland and help his brother, Prince Damek, solve a murder so he can get married. Because of their history with Damek and his ruthlessness, the sisters are understandably reluctant, but cannot refuse the man they feel indebted to. Once Céline and Amelie arrive at Damek’s castle it becomes evident how much they truly have to fear from this deranged man.

Overall, I fell in love with these sisters and the rest of the novels ensemble. My only two criticisms are Hendee’s long elaborate passages of backstory sprinkled within and the fact that I had trouble pinpointing a time period for the story. Sometimes, the author would use words or phrases that made me believe this society was advanced, and then other times the characters would use objects like lanterns and I’d feel like it was set in some ancient time. It wasn’t enough to cause me to forgo reading the entire book, but it happened enough that I had to pause several times and get my bearings. I should also mention that if you are looking for heavy drawn out romance, then this might not be the fantasy for you. There are hints of love interests but no elaborate relationships other than some kissing and mild romps by secondary characters. However, if you enjoy juicy stories with great female leads and a mysterious plot that will keep you guessing, I highly recommend giving Witches with the Enemy a try.

At least 4 stars. Review at The Book Nympho:

http://thebooknympho.com/2015/05/witc...

I read the first two books in The Mist-Torn Witches series to prepare for this review and I’m really enjoying the series. I generally don’t like historical romance but the fantasy books which are set in historical times I also think I wouldn’t like, but then I do. I guess I can’t generalize; I have to read the book and see.

This series has witches and this is my favorite sort of supernatural. There have also been shifters. The story focuses on two sisters, and they each have hints of romance. It will be interesting to see if anything ever comes of the romance aspects. The other two main characters are Prince Anton, their patron, and his chief security guy, Jaromir.

In the previous book, the sisters went on a mission with Jaromir. So Prince Anton was absent from most of the story. In this book, Prince Anton is going on a trip with the two sisters to assist his brother and Jaromir will be back at home, so not in the story as much. It’s an interesting way to further develop those characters with more time. I’m worried about the danger of this trip and so are all four of them, (yes the enemy part in the title).

The sisters, Celine and Amelie, are very likeable. They are skilled, intelligent and compassionate. They are very human with some normal reactions, however they are so capable at controlling themselves in difficult or inappropriate feelings, mostly. I admire that and find it a bit unbelievable; I’m not sure I could do it so well. I think however, women of this time period, often had to control themselves and put duty or propriety before their personal wishes. I find the small breakouts of control, even internally, amusing and authentic.

I never felt bored or like I wanted to stop reading. I enjoyed the mystery and had ideas about the solution. It was great to learn more about the world and the characters through this new adventure. Information keeps trickling out. There is so much ahead as far as relationships and world events. I can’t wait to see how things continue after Witches with the Enemy. I recommend this series.

Giggle worthy quote:

Worse was the pain she felt from the skin on the inside of her legs. Celine had not been wrong to suggest riding straddle. At the fast pace they rode, gripping with their knees was the only option. At first, this had been a relief. A few hours later, Amelie’s skin felt as if it had been rubbed raw.
Stupid dinner gown.

The dress offered no protection, and once again, she longed for her pants.

Fantasy series with it's latest installment. This one is a murder mystery. Interesting characters, fairly well written and a good read. Not high art, but not silly either. Probably a little too obvious but I don't usually try too hard to figure a mystery out while I'm reading and this one was intricate enough that I didn't jump to a conclusion. Book 3 of a series with strong main female characters.

The best one in the series so far! And the ending set up some intrigue for future books, which is fun. I like the way the sisters are getting to know their gifts, and again, the way the potential romances are moving slowly but sweetly. There are obstacles, especially for Celine, but I'm hopeful. I look forward to the next book!

So far the first one in the series is my favorite. It had the most depth.

I liked the second one because of the wolves and setting.

I like this one because of the setting too. I think Handee's biggest strength is world building. I really want to be there, watching. Descriptions are good, too.

This one had a great premise, but I wish there'd been more motivation for Anton taking Celine and Amalie to his his brother's. He knows his brother is a psycho. If my sister were a psycho, I wouldn't take the people I love to visit, not even if dear old dad asked.

I'm also wishing Anton would man up and tell his father. Not telling the father put the villagers at risk, especially females. The line "girls and dogs go missing" was a powerful line that went nowhere.

This book had more than one psycho, though.

I'd like to see more of Lizbeth.

I'd like to see the bad guy and witch get punished a bit more, too.

An easy read and enjoyable despite a few things that make me twitch: a lot of stereotypes that make the characters come up lacking in depth along with a few other minor things... Such as: character x gets a face scratch and then.... THE NEXT DAY ..a comment on how it stopped bleeding. I don't know about you..but any scratches on people's faces would clot up pretty quickly if they had bled at all.

I love this series even though there were only 3 books to the series. The two main characters are very interesting as well as some of the other main characters. They are requested to accompany their prince to Damek because his brother is getting married and they are needed. A good fantasy with both good and dark magic involved.

So I tried giving myself a break with this one. I tried reading a different book first, so I could have a break between books two and three. But when that one didn't pan, I said fuck it and went for the third. Interestingly enough, I binged the first three books of the series relatively all in a row, but I never got around to the fourth book until several years later.

Anyway, I don't remember much from this book either, if I'm being honest. Except I DO remember sitting there, convinced that this would be the book that got some huge overarching plot started (which is stupid because the series was already finished, at that point)...and then it ended all nice and tidy. And I think I was kind of disappointed? I really didn't think this whole series would be one where every book had its own plot, and the only thing that remained the same were the characters and their world. I wanted something more. I expected something more. Why, I have no idea. I mean, apart from the fact that I guess I wanted whatever sick love affair it was that I got out of the Noble Dead Saga. The series only had four books! It was done! Yet I wanted more. Just like with the previous book, something was missing from this one. I still enjoyed it, don't get me wrong. But it makes sense now why it took me so long to prioritize reading the fourth and final book of this series. I knew that it would be just another stand alone with the same characters, and that it would be a fun, quick read, but that it probably wouldn't leave much of a lasting impression on me the way other books were (and I don't mean just the Noble Dead Saga, but books by other authors I was reading from at the time, too). I guess I wasn't in any rush because there were no cliffhangers. I didn't have anything that I NEEDED to find out about the series. So I just...didn't. For years. Until I found it used at my local bookstore long after I'd forgotten everything about the characters and the plot.

It's unfortunate, because I did enjoy these books and that first one especially was promising. But then it sort of...petered out. I'm not fully sure if this series suffered the same fate as the Noble Dead Saga did. Being cut short by the publishers, I mean. I don't know if the author had any intentions on writing some big series about these girls, or if she meant it to be this way all along. I just feel like there should've been something more. Otherwise, at this point, they're almost like...filler. It's fun, getting to see more of the world I came to love thanks to the Noble Dead Saga. But it wasn't satisfying, because I've seen what the author is capable of, and this simply wasn't it.

If you enjoyed the Noble Dead Saga, I'd recommend these books. But I don't know if I'd recommend them to anyone else. The world is cool. I enjoyed the characters. But I needed more, and though it was fun, it left me feeling kind of disappointed at the end, which is why it lost its fifth star.

"Witches With the Enemy". (Mist-Torn Witches Book 3)

By: Barb Hendee

Agatha Christie would be proud!

Barb Hendee delivers in this book! She takes us again with Celine and Amelie, sister "seers" in Prince Anton's court, on another murder mystery adventure. The author must be a lot like her main character Celine because she writes with a very insightful and empathetic pen. Her characters and events come to life before your eyes while guiding your mind to all the important information! Sigh....to have that storytelling ability!

We travel with the sister-seers (both future and past) and Prince Anton to his evil brother's castle to help solve a murder plot. Prince Damek has requested his brother's help to solve this mystery so he might get on with his wedding to an important Land Barron's daughter. He fears the unexpected deaths of two of the visiting royal family won't exactly put him in a very good light with the "in-laws" and he so desperately wants to be looked upon favorably by his father. Of course only Anton and Celine now understand how "broken" and evil he is. (But does his bride-to-be understand? or care?....Hmmmm) There seem to be more than one "broken" mind in this story and all will be revealed in the end.

In the previous "Mist-Torn Witches" books we see the sisters travel with Prince Anton's Lieutenant Jaromir. In this edition, Prince Anton takes it upon himself to escort the "seers" and be their protection during this investigation. We are shown another side of the mild mannered benevolent Prince. He shows strength, strategy and vulnerability in this episode and I now see more reason to cast him as one of the main characters. He is portrayed as more of a leading man than a background character. Whoop-whoop! Perhaps we are getting closer to finding romance for Celine and Prince Anton.

We also see a little more of Amelie's personality and skill evolve as she becomes more of a partner to her sister with her ability to see "past" events. Her independent, impudent personality is endearing and frustrating at the same time but then.....she is young and just coming into her realization that there might be more to life than just wielding a dagger and a sword.

I see this series as more of a paranormal mystery than paranormal love story and that is perfectly fine. I even went back and read the prologue to see if I could glean a little insight into the killer and Yep....there was a little help with who that said killer may or may not be. Barb Hendee has a knack for spinning a tale of mystery with a little romance thrown in for good measure that the reader gets a little of everything. She leaves you wanting more....more....more!! I hope that the next book is soon to come as I am now totally invested in these characters.

I give this book 4 1/2 "snoopy" sheep!

Witches with the Enemy by Barb Hendee is the 3rd book in her Mist-Torn Witches series. I love this series, as it has two wonderful heroines, exciting storylines, and well written. Celine and Amelie are our heroines, and they are seers. Celine can see the future, and Amelie can see the past, just by touching the person. They both work for Prince Anton, who is the good prince in comparison to his evil brother, Prince Damek. After solving cases in the first two books, Celine and Amelie have been summoned to help Damek find the killer who is trying to sabotage his marriage plans. Prince Anton, goes with Celine and Amelie, to protect them, since he doesn’t trust his brother, as he knows both Celine and Amelie escaped with their lives when living in Damek’s territory.

I really do love Anton, as we can see he is falling hard for Celine, but knows as Prince, he cannot marry a commoner. Celine too finds herself attracted to Anton, but does her best to be his seer, with no romantic entanglements. This is a forbidden romance that is slowly building, though nothing as of yet. The same can be said of Amelie and Jaromir, which we can see their attraction, but both try to avoid those feelings.

Though the markings are there, this is not a romance but is a thrilling suspense mystery in a race to the finish, before more murders happen. There are so many twists and turns that you need to pay attention so that you do not miss anything.

This is a wonderful adventurous series, in an interesting world, with some great characters. In all three books, Celine and Amelie are the main characters and worthy heroines. It is fun to watch them use their seer ability to discover the truth, whether the past or the future. Anton and Jaromir are also great heroes. Hendee has created excellent villains, and nice secondary characters. I wholly recommend you to read this series, as it is a fun exciting read. I do suggest you start with the first book, as it lays the ground work for the world, and Celine and Amelie.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:
*Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review...

Witches with the Enemy is the 3rd installment in Barb Hendee's Mist-Torn Witches series and this was my favorite of the series so far. Like all Hendee books, Witches With the Enemy was engaging, entertaining, and well written, all revolving around two super strong heroines that you can't help but love.

Celine and Amelie assistn Prince Anton in solving mysteries in the realm, specifically those surrounding his wicked brother Prince Damek. In this installment, the ladies join Prince Anton in Damek's territory and tensions run high.

Book #3 continues our flirty relationship between Celine and Anton. You see how much he cares for Celine and how much she longs for him, but theirs is not a relationship that can be because she is not noble, and he could potentially be High Prince some day. There is also continued flirtations between Amelia and Jaromir, which I have been rooting for the entire time.

With all of that said, however, I wouldn't classify the Mist-Torn witch sereis as paranormal romance. It's fantasy, and a fantastic one at that. If you're looking for a suspensful fantasy mystery, then Mist-Torn is a fantastic series to pick up. I highly recommend it!

In a similiar world as the Hendees' Noble Dead saga, the world is utterly fascinating and Barb knows how to write some incredible characters, especially kicka$$ heroines.

While I do believe that Witches With the Enemy could stand on its own, as a fan and reader I suggest starting with Mist-Torn Witches, book #1, and enjoying the journey the sisters have taken so far to fully enjoy the series.

In short, my favorite of the series so far. The character development in this one was wonderful to read, and as always, Barb spins a beautiful tale of intrigue.

Witches with the Enemy: A Novel of the Mist-Torn Witches by Barb Hendee is a highly enjoyable read. Anton is becoming an interesting character. And while his brother Damek is the kind of evil I usually see as cartoonish, it works here. Damek has his own quirks and habits that make him into more than just a standard psychopath.

I love Amelie and Celine. They’re so different and yet so close to each other. Their differences also make it easier for them to seek out information in different ways and from different sources. I love the idea that the kind and optimistic sister is also the better deceiver. It’s interesting to see how they interact with people at various levels of society, and how they gradually learn new ways of dealing with people. I enjoy seeing how they and their relationships with others shift and change in both small and large ways.

The murder mystery is fun. Particularly given Celine’s supposed ability to read people I got a little frustrated when both sisters completely fail to notice some aberrant behavior on others’ parts beyond just “huh, that’s weird.” However, there were still some delightful red herrings that kept things interesting.

On the whole I very much enjoyed the milieu and the murder mystery, and I look forward to more books in the series.

In this, the third book of the series, Celine and Amelie are forced to return to the land they were driven out of. The kicker is the individual requesting their aid is the evil brother of the Prince they now happily serve. Prince Damek is going to be married but unfortunately, his fiancee's sister is murdered before the engagement is even finalized. Prince Damek is the man who killed their father and made the two girls orphans so being forced to help him is definitely not on their to-do list, well it wasn't but life has a way of throwing zingers at you.

This book reveals more about not only Celine and Amelie but Prince Anton's family his relationship with them. To say that it's complicated is putting it mildly. There are undercurrents in the relationship between the brothers that I hope gets explored in future books.

The character development in this book is phenomenal! The author shows that while Celine and Amelie love each other and need each other in order for their talents to do any good in the world, they also have personality and sisterly problems. The little cracks start showing in this book. But when the reader begins to see the huge problems between Anton, Damek, and their father...there is hope that the two sisters can resolve any problems the two of them are having.

This series keeps getting better and better and I am going to hate finishing the 4th book because it looks like the author hasn't written any more in quite a while.

Barb Hendee takes us out for another adventure with the orphaned Sisters Fawe in their murky homeland of Droevinka. I've been enjoying this series immensely. Each installment is a self-contained mystery and also is part of an overarching story encompassing all three books.

The sisters once again have a difficult murder to unravel and the high stakes of a political wedding hanging in the balance that will effect everyone if they fail. They set about the task with their usual cleverness and humanity as their investigation leads them to a greater understanding of the players and ultimating guiding them towards the solution.

Never content with a straight up mystery, Hendee continues to imbue her yarns with themes of coming of age and the small and great in all of us. In this adventure, she also looks at love in its myriad forms spanning the full spectrum from the beneficial to poisonous. She handily makes use of myth and magic to further the story and comment on these themes.

Once again she produces another delightful read. I'm looking forward to the fourth book which is due out next year.

When I first started the Mist-Torn Witches series, I really liked it: the mystery, healing, seeing the future and past. Unfortunately I am over it now. Every book follows the same pattern: the sisters are fine, an invitation to do seeing comes, it turns out some mystery needs to be solved, they don't want to go, they go and people don't believe in their powers, a murder is seen but they can't stop it, another murder is seen and they try to stop it, for some crazy reason one sister has to run off by herself and vanquish the enemy without giving the authorities physical evidence of wrong-doing. Also some touching romantic scene, creepy villains, scars from the case, and the exact same line describing a scene/event in the last book the same way. The idea behind the series is interesting and the type of mystery is different each time, but it is repetitive, so I am done with this series now.

Even though the plot of this book took place in much less time than the previous one, I think it moved a little slower. The mystery was good though; I only felt really strongly about who the culprit was a chapter or two before it was revealed. I normally know within a short span of beginning a story. I felt that some character lines were just completely dropped from the previous book, but considering where the plot led, it is understandable; it would have been weird to include those continuations. Still, I wonder if they will be brought up again in future installments. I am definitely going to be reading them, in any case!

I love this series! The third installment is just as great as the first two! I enjoyed having the sisters go to Damek's castle and getting to learn more about him, as unsettling as he is. The mystery in this story is just as engaging as the first two books. Seems like some of the characters from this book will definitely be in play in future stories and I am excited to see how it all plays out! I also have to say I love the pacing in these books. All of them just flow so well, there is never a dull moment!

Witches solving mysteries in pseudo-medieval times.

I enjoy this series, the books are fun and fluffy. I really like the world, and the characters, which makes me wish the books went deeper.

I also read all 3 in a row, which really doesn't do the series any favours - you really notice the repetition between books, and how the author uses the same phrases over and over. The first chapters especially feel like there was some Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V going on. It's a problem most series have, I find, wanting to catch you up/jog your memory, but some definitely do it better than others.

I really enjoy this series - the mysteries are interesting, the world has lots of possibilities, wondrous and awful, and the books leave me wanting to know more. This book wasn't perfect, but it was completely enjoyable - and the lack of Jaromir in it just made it more enjoyable to me. Looking forward to the next one (hopefully?).

I'm an addict. No, really. I've had dreams about them, now. And... now I have to wait. Because no author can keep up with my reading schedule.

Seriously, I love these young women - they're tough, they're strong on their own, and they are good without being unbelievable mary sue types.

Go Celine! Go Amelie! :)

These are perfect for a short afternoon read that takes little energy, is light on blood and gore and sweetened with a little unrequited love. The title is a bit misleading as the main characters are psychics not witches.
