A world-wide chemical attack has left society in ruins. The chemicals used not only affect humans, but all mammals. The cannibalistic rage brought on by the toxin soon destroys almost everything man has built.

In San Diego, a group of survivors struggles to survive and rebuild.
In Bemidji, Minnesota, another group fights their way through ground zero, and then begins to fight back... with the help of a 12 year old boy. In Atlanta, the CDC has been virtually destroyed, but a female Doctor is determined to find the answers everyone is looking for.

As these groups come together to deal with the catastrophe, they have to find a way to prevent the next attack, which will mean the end of them all.

this was good ...not only are people turning but the animals as well. all because of a chemical in the water. love zombie stories to see how people survive. and this story is very fast paced. Ted is very talented writer. I would say more but, don't want to add any spoilers.

Story = 3 stars; Writing = 4 stars

I did not deliberately choose this genre to read, and would normally avoid it — and although quickly obvious — I don’t want to give it away in this review, either.

The characters in the book were believable, and The Author was fair in how some people lived and died. It was more amazing to me, however, how The Author enabled people to so easily shoot others, without giving it much of a 2nd thought — this point stretched my credibility factor more than the story plot.

Another heavy hit from Nulty

Ted Nulty has created an almost too-easily envisioned future, one that could happen next week or next year. Plausible actions by an unfriendly force have created the unimaginable results of only a third of civilization left. Once again, hard to put down once I actually had the time to pick it up!

I have to say I'm quite impressed with Ted Nulty's take on this book. This book has a lot of reality to it which is refreshing to read for Sub Genre zombie but not zombie if that makes sense. In easier terms if you love zombie books you'll love this one even though technically it's not zombie but more end of the world (Yup I can't spell the word I really want to put there lol)

There's some military jargon in this book and even if your not familiar with it your in luck that's it's explained easily. The characters are great and realistic. This book keeps the pace up to where you want to finish this soon as your start it. Truly a great thrill ride. I'll be reading Barry's Walk next and I can't wait to dive into it to see what's next.

Not giving a thing away except give this book a read. I love my paperback copy. Highly recommend if you want a realistic story with real people so to speak that pretty much deal with the end of the world.

A military adventure ... Feral Style!

This was a complex plot involving terrorism, transformed humans, and a military that is joining forces to set things right. The character I can only describe as an idiot savant, Barry, is the one that really drew me to him; the others were all military procedure, jargon and business. To be honest, I believe I would've connected more with the military characters had they shed a bit of the formalities required by their command structure; that's why Barry was such a breath of fresh air. I'm glad Mr. Nulty chose him as the lead in his next book, which is definitely on my TBR list ... I look forward to Barry's Walk. Four stars reflects my inability to easily sort through heavy military terminology, not having served ... but thanking the brave men and women who do, everyday.

I really enjoyed this book. The pacing is very exciting and the characters are enjoyable, and you connect with them. I try not to spoil in my reviews, but I will say this was a wonderful read, was hard to put down, and once it got going you are in danger of losing sleep.
An added bonus if you're connected with the military in that a lot of the jargon and camaraderie among soldiers is in play and you're to enjoy it that much more if that seems familiar.
There's a lot of bravery, a great deal of believable action in an unbelievable situation. And there are characters that you just naturally root for.
Highly recommended.

My usual read consists of genres very different from this book but I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The book was sitting on a coworker's desk and the cover peaked my curiosity. It was a straight forward and fast paced writing style which did not over shadow the plot with too many needless details. I also liked that it didn't stick to the stereotypical story line of a zombie/apocalypse book either. I was happy to hear it had a sequel as well, although I am not sure how to obtain it at this time. Overall I enjoyed it and it has me looking into reading other books similar in genre to this one.

Excellent!

This is a great story. It was scarier than the Zombie apocalypse because it was more plausible. It's an adventure filled tale and going to jump on the sequel right away.
