Ok, no.

I can overlook typos.
I can even pretend I didn't read this fuck up even if it made me scream because of the ignorance it implied:

"With me and Killian... we had both been raped but we were the more... submissive types. We were Reaver’s best friends, so we were used to being the sidekicks, the subs, or well... the bottoms."
Newsflash:
Rape is never ok.
Never.

I had issues with this book, but just like it happened with BJ, it picks up in last third and I was willing to stick to series regardless.

But if there is one thing I absolutely can't support is not respecting other people's opinion, especially if you are an author.
Everyone has right to an opinion.
Everyone has right to disagree.

What an ending!! I swear this book had me wanting to unalive a good chunk of the chimeras, and I definitely would have volunteered Killian up to be dinner more than once... More than five times really 😂 I really hope he's learning a sense of self preservation soon!!

I loved Reaver, Reno and Sanguine, plus Caligula is really growing on me.

Silas is still a big question mark for me though. I go back and forth between hating him and liking him so quickly that I don't really know what I think about him!

Kessler and Nero are on my permanent shit list though - I despise them.

I think Perish actually redeemed himself too, although I spent most of the book hating him for what he was doing.

I'm looking forward to Sanguine's story next before I get back to the present day timeline books - he's such a mystery but I instantly liked his character.

I'll see how I go, but for now I am putting this one down and walking away.

Nope. Sadly, I'm out of this series for good. Any writer who can have this lack of care re: editing - line and content - doesn't deserve the money spent on their books.

ETA: 18/11/2014 In ALL my reviews of this series I have complained about poor editing, not just here. I chose to stop reading after I could not get past that continued poor editing here. I had to step away. The author's behaviour in a PM (and on here) cemented further why I cannot read this series anymore, but the editing, and this -

"With me and Killian... we had both been raped but we were the more... submissive types. We were Reaver’s best friends, so we were used to being the sidekicks, the subs, or well... the bottoms."

...did me in. The author took exception to me pointing this out to him. I do not like people thinking that if they are a bottom or submissive that it is somehow okay for them or perceived that they can handle rape. I know this book is a dark fantasy, but fantasy is still grounded in reality and this is an unacceptable viewpoint... in my opinion. My. Opinion. So I walk away.

That was the best one so far, I don't know what to say yet except it's extremely emotional and I need to sleep. Once again Quil, thank you so much, it was a masterpiece and I'm already gaging for the next one!!!!!
I feel like I've been hit by a truck and dragged thru a hedge backwards but it's been a 21HR marathon,

Serious SPOILERS throughout the whole review, so be ware.

…Wow. I read the whole thing in one go, and it exceeded my boldest expectations. The emotions are still boiling, I barely slept at night, but I’m so happy I must look totally crazy now.

I can hardly say which book in the series is my most favorite, since they all are absolutely fantastic and mind-blowing, practically earth-shattering. I would have never believed that such long, seemingly never-ending stories can still be so fascinating that it’s literally impossible to put a book aside for even one moment. I *loved* Elish and Reaver’s alliance, their team. They are both so powerful, so dark, so strong and cruel, and both driven to extremes with their crushing love for their boys that overwhelm every crease of their mind. I enjoyed every minute of their search, and more and more I like the idea of them being the Kings of post-Fallocaust world, with Jade and Killian by their sides. I dream to see them like that one day.

Every moment when they thought they were close and then faced the disappointment, every time they were terrified they’d find Jade and Killian dead was incredible. My heart was hammering without stop, because there was just not a single moment to rest and to breathe. I loved how cold, icy mask of Elish shattered from time to time, how his emotions concerning Jade came to surface. Such moments were rare, but absolutely unforgettable and oh so touching. The author has an amazing ability to describe love in the most gripping, shattering, beautiful way. Those feelings Elish has for Jade and Reaver has for Killian are unusual because of their strength, they’re bordering on the point of obsession, but I’ve never seen anything so strong and so captivating. I could read about them forever.

New layers of shocking mysteries continue to amaze me and leave me with my mouth agape. Really, where do all of these ideas come from?? I could NEVER imagine those things! Like Perish being Sky’s twin – OMG, or what Perish did to Killian… but the only thing I can say – finally! I was afraid to hope that Killian will indeed become immortal, but I’m so happy now! I look forward to those ‘couple’ moments the author has promised in the next book, I can’t wait to see how Reaver and Killian will both enjoy the gift of immortality. All pieces of the plot are coming together perfectly.

I’m afraid for Jade, I really think Elish should just give up and make him immortal as soon as possible, or this wonderful boy will drive them both to their graves soon.
Only now something occurred to me. Basically, people with matching auras fall in love the second they see each other, we saw it happen with Reaver, Garret and Joaquin. So I think it’s logical to assume the same thing happened to Elish – he must have fallen for Jade the first time he saw him. But what an icy blood this chimera has if he started to show signs of affection only after a few months! Even such powerful thing as predestined love needed some time to make him give in! It amazes me and makes me admire him even more. It makes his feelings for Jade even stronger in my eyes. (And God, I enjoyed his confusion when Reaver wanted to have sex with him – perplexed Elish is something!)

Now, directly to Quil… man, I don’t know how you do this, but you made me feel empathy for even the most loathsome characters!! I still can’t believe it! Can you imagine that I feel sorry for Silas, and that I think what Reaver and Killian did in the end was cruel? Can you imagine that I want him to reunite with his Sky after all, either in this world or somewhere beyond it? I cried when he broke down in the end – I *cried*, and I hated him. I don’t know what you’re planning, but please, give him some peace in the end. He deserves to love and be loved after so many years of agony. Brian will never be able to become a suitable substitute for Sky.

And – can you imagine that I felt sorry for NERO?! I’m still not sure about that. Maybe I’m a weak minded fool, but I want Kiki to free him and for them to leave somewhere where no one can find them. I hate Nero, I swear, when he tortured and raped Reaver, I was literally shaking with rage, I wanted him to drop dead right away, I even wanted to write some very mean words to you. I didn’t have the same reaction with Killian or Reno, or even Jade - maybe, as Reno said, because for someone as dominant, dark and menacing as Reaver to lose all control like that is the worst torture imaginable. Being so humiliated and destroyed – it’s probably nearly impossible for him to cope with it. So yes, I HATE Nero, but now I’m perplexed, because I do feel sorry for him – his punishment fills me with horror, I don’t think anyone deserves such a terrible existence.

I like Garret, I like Reno – love all aspects of their relationship, and the fact that Garret is not like most chimeras, he’s softer and shyer. Though he does have his chimera moments, and boy, how powerful they are! I hope we’ll get to see Joaquin and Jem in the next book, I want to know more of their relationship, I’m dying for it.

If I were to describe every moment, every word that I loved in this masterpiece, my review would go on forever, so I try to control my desire to babble. I can’t not mention the ending, though. Reaver and Killian moments.
At first I was a little annoyed because of the lack of Reaver and Killian together – I wanted to finally see them, I missed their interactions and their love, but very quickly I realized that even when Reaver is desperately looking for Killian, even when Killian is slowly losing his mind, it’s still all about them. When they weren’t together physically, they were together mentally. Reaver’s love is so powerful, the moments he snapped showed his maniacal darkness again, and it was strangely touching and heartbreaking. I honestly gave up hoping he will find Killian in this book, so when he did, I couldn’t help but squeal from happiness and excitement. It was one of the best, most memorable moments ever! Fantastic.
The moment when Killian was dying… oh my, I suspected by then that he was immortal, but I still cried myself – Reaver’s despair, sorrow, helplessness were overwhelming, it just broke me. But when he realized Killian was going to come back… let’s just say, I’m still flying somewhere on cloud nine from happiness and sheer joy of it. Beautiful moment, simply mesmerizingly beautiful.

So, yes, I LOVED this book, just as crazily as I loved previous ones. As for editing – really, the plot is so fascinating and captivating, it gives you no time to breathe, not to mention looking for typos. When I see some, I just skip them, because action takes you further, and you want to follow its astonishing turns. I personally prefer to read the book sooner rather than wait for months until it gets polished perfectly – I’m a writer myself in my country, and my beta usually edits *one* chapter much longer than it took me to write it – for example, I wrote one part in a week, she finishes checking it in a few months. I’d hate to see it happen to these wonderful series. Minor mistakes might annoy and distract when the story is boring, but when you can’t read fast enough… seriously, I didn’t notice even one typo in second volume – I was too busy reading :)

So THANK YOU, Quil – The Fallocaust series is something that will stay in my mind forever. Next books can’t come quickly enough. I’d love to see all of them turned into TV series once – there is simply no such character as Reaver. He’s crazy, scary, dark, but I think it’s impossible not to love him. And how incredible you’re showing the changes that are happening to him thanks to Killian’s influence…

Thank you! I can’t wait to re-read the series one more time, more slowly and carefully this time, savoring every word. Now – waiting anxiously for January 2015!

Holy shit that was a fucking fun, crazy, painful, glorious ride! Once again, not perfect and definitely pushing the limit for ridiculousness, but I’m loving it anyway.

The one thing I struggled most with this book was not brutality this time, it’s the ridiculousness of certain plot elements and the world building. Before I get into what isn’t working for me though, I want to briefly mention what I loved. I think Jade’s story arc was my favorite. Yeah, there was a lot about the devolution and subsequent evolution of the ravers that I look at with skepticism but *shrugs* wth, it was fun anyway. I also loved Reaver and Elish’s story arc and the conclusion of Killian and Perish’s. And finally, the conclusion at the lab with Reaver was gloriously and beautifully heartbreaking. Oh wait, there’s one last thing, the very end, the final “wave” goodbye was the best!

As for the ridiculousness of certain plot elements... I know this is post apocalyptic and that it doesn’t take place in the world as we know it but it regularly references tv shows, movies, products, etc from our current world, so we know it has its origins here. For me, there are innumerable implausible details in the world building. These inexplicable details range from innocuous, tiny things like where the hell is their tea coming from to big things like why, if their medical technology is so advanced, is the rest of the world so “prehistoric.” I don’t get how Silas and Skyfall are getting their resources, their water supply, their electricity, their food, their building materials, their furniture and carpets, etc. I could keep going and going and going with all the big and little things that are implausible but well, if I did, this review would be a book. More importantly, while these inexplicable “details” do detract and distract from the experience for me, I’m willing to suspend my disbelief because I’m enjoying myself anyway.

The other aspect of the plot development that isn’t working for me is the chimera dynamic. I hope some of it will become clear to me as the series continues, but I’m finding it frustrating and hard to believe that the chimera continue to submit to Silas and the other horrifically brutal chimera.

Rating break down:
5 stars for how it consumed me.
5 stars for level of enjoyment.
5 stars for character evolution (Killian *sob* JADE, holy fuck you impress me! Perish *sobs for eternity* Reaver and Elish, welcome to becoming more human. Silas *smirk* yeah, I see your pain, but FUCK YOU ANYWAY!)
3 stars for plot development (5 for story arcs, 1 for implausible “details”)

4.5 middle fingers up! Rounded up for that spectacular ending!

Holy shit. I don't know where to start or even how to form sentences. Just, holy shit! Where is this going? It's a ride I will be on forever. Quil, you bloody brilliant devil.

Fucking Perish. OMG. I don't have words for my feelings. Jade, so fucking brilliant and brave. Reno, my heart is bleeding for you. Garrett, be strong. Reno will need you. Elish. I thought you had everything perfectly planned. You sure didn't plan for this, did you? And poor Silas. Yeah, I said that. How do we fix you now?

Gah! My thoughts are so jumbled.

Killian and Reaver. Fuck. I love them so much.

Kiki... What did that pyromaniac devil tell you to do?

I'm floored. Wasted. My time in the Greywaste has left me raw and emotionally unable to properly function. I need to read some fluff for a bit. But damn. This was amazing.

Ok, where to start?
Quil has done it, again. This series just keeps getting better and better.
The people I hated, I feel sympathy for, even Silas.
No matter what he does, I still adore Elish.
And, Killian? Can not wait to see what that's going to be like.
The next one can't come soon enough! Go, Kiki!

5+++ stars. I don't even know what to say about this book and this series, and even if I could it wouldn't be articulate enough to review this book the way it deserves to be. Just incredible!

So much has happened and the layers just keep on peeling away...This is an epic, unique fantasy/sci-fi series. Quil is a creative mastermind with the best, sick sense of humour.

I need a mini break after this one, my heart and head hurts after that ending. Can't wait to read the next one about our Demon-Chimera Sanguine, but right now I need to watch some funny YouTube videos about cats and hug a loved one 😆

Again, Quil has exceeded all my expectations. The fallocaust world really comes to life and I fully immerse myself in the characters.
Only my predictions always came true and I knew what happened but that certainly did not spoil the story, certainly not, on the contrary. I didn't expect Killian to become immortal like this even though I knew he was going to be immortal at some point. I am still certain that Elish also played a role in Killian's life and that he may have created him.
Oooh Perish! 😢 I can't say goodbye to our precious Perry. 😭
Now that Silas is stranded in the graywasts alongside with Elish, Reno, Garret and Jack, I am so curious what will happen! Of course I am completely delighted to read Severing Sanguine, the story of my favorite character from the whole series. 🥰

Okay sooo I barely write reviews which means that whenever I do it's because of 2 reasons. Either the book was fan-fucking-tastic or it was fucking terrible. With that being said.......this was fan-FUCKING-tastic!!!!!!!!!! *takes a deep breath* It was amazing!!! I fucking loved it. And REAVER!!!! You have nooooo idea how much I fucking love him, he is EVERYTHING! I have this extremely unhealthy obsession with him which is a bit crazy cause he's a fucking fictional character.....if only my mind believed that :(

• Garrett is such a sweetheart! I just wanted to hug him and protect him with my life :)
• I fell for Elish in BJ and it made me so happy seeing him and Reaver work together. I love how much emotion he shows when it comes to Jade.
• Jade was his normal yellow eyed deranged self(which I love about him) and I must say that whole King of the Ravers thing was HILARIOUS, lol. I absolutely loved Reavers reaction when he found out about it and when he saw him on his "throne".
• Reno, Reno.......his loyalty to Reaver and Killian was inspiring. I loved how even when he started doubting Elish's plan, that little voice in his head made him realize how stupid he was for sympathizing with Silas. I also want him to be with Garrett :(
• Killian.....he is so fucking strong. When he cares about you, he fucking CARES! I liked him in Fallocaust and volume 1 of this book. However at the same time I hated his whining every minute, it was annoying and at the beginning of volume 2 I got irritated every time he complained about something. But right now he's my 2nd favorite person after Reaver. He's been through so fucking much, it broke my heart!

Both volume 1 and 2 felt a bit drawn out to me and I wanted more of Reaver. Everyone else's POV's were interfering with his, which is another thing I didn't like about this. But at the same time I'm glad we saw what everyone else was thinking. Killian and Reaver taunting Silas was absolutely beautiful. I felt like a sadist, feeding off the pain and agony he was experiencing :) I cried so much during the final scene with Killian and Reaver......I'm now laying in bed with a headache. I felt so crushed at that moment my fucking hand was trembling, TREMBLING. That's how much it affected me. Seeing Reaver like that crushed me..........but then something amazing happened and I was filled with so much joy. I started smiling(while crying tears of joy) like a deranged person. And now I am happy. The end result was everything I expected it to be. Oh that scene with Kiki? Hilarious! I fucking despise him but u gotta admit he has some fucking balls doing what he did.

Well that's about it, I think. I was gonna write a review for volume 1 after I finished reading but it would've involved me cursing the fuck out of the author(for what Nero did to Reaver) which I would probably regret doing after......a teeny tiny bit, lol. Now it's time to wait for book 3........
