'The true heroes are the ones who have courage, even when they have no power at all.'
After Hunter and Will are rescued from the institution and brought to the safe house where the others are hiding out, Hunter is met with several new challenges; facing Joshua for the first time since the warehouse, forgiving him for the mess he made of her life, discovering that Eli and Jenny are alive, and mending the shaken relationship she has with Will after their horrific last few days in ICE, all the while figuring out a way to defeat Dr. Wolfe and get her father back.
Before the ultimate battle between hero and villain, Hunter has to endure more loss, heartbreak and horror than ever before. But she also experiences joy in uniting with her friends from ICE and rekindling a lost flame with Joshua. During the last stretch of her journey, Hunter realizes it is not the power that makes her a hero... it's the consuming fire within.
I'm obsessed with superhero pop culture. I travel the world and I write intricate, epic novels. My dream is to someday have a house in the woods where I can immerse myself in another world and never be interrupted. I am determined to marry a Navy SEAL, a cowboy or a re-incarnation of Gilbert Blythe from L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables.

This story has come leaps and bounds from the first book; improving for the better with everything from writing (that is beautiful), to plot (that is complicated and surprising), to character development (I either love them to pieces or want to throw them in a volcano) to how much I enjoyed every second, even when my heart was being torn out and crushed to smithereens.
My emotions were all over the place – Isabella Modra knows how to play them well. Essentially just follow up a peaceful moment that promises things to be looking up with a death and you have the basics on how to make a fangirl cry. There was so much carnage and heartbreak for the characters that it was impossible to not be affected. I had been invested right from the start (even when Hunter was being an arrogant master at angst, which she even admits to!) and it made the conclusion that much more brilliant to read.
Between moments of tragedy and hope (that were often a two-piece deal) there was also humour that came from long lost characters and new ones alike. The ‘side characters’ as you will, all had unique personalities that jumped from the pages and simply demanded that you care. It became more than just Hunter’s story and I loved that. The relationships she had with others and the ones between themselves too were so well done, they weren’t easy or simple but messy and realistic.
Even in a story about superheroes, nothing was so farfetched that it was unbelievable which stemmed from the fact that the characters were complex and relatable (though not always because I’d like to think that Dr. Wolfe is alone in his evil nature). The themes about good and evil running through the story were overshadowed by the actual storyline but they found a way into my head and are there to stay.
In the end this book reminded me in the best way possible why I love reading and try so hard to make time for it; so when you come across gems like this series, you want to share it with the world and you want to rave about it with friends – basically you should read it and then we can do it all together!
First of all a huge thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of the book and trusting my words throughout the series
Consuming Fire is the much awaited finale to the Rouge series .To be frank I would say that the best book in the series was the second book, Embers & Ice which was nothing less to a mini volcano with so many secrets bursting out and taking you in its heat . Let us come to third book, Consuming Fire. It does offer a lot of fresh element but when I say "a lot" I mean it literally that there are "a lot" of elements to deal with
Language and narration is almost natural and fluid and one of the reasons why I love the author’s work. Its simple and crystal clear in what it wants to say. Now the story. You will love it because it has got something very different and unique that makes it different from the rest of the paranormal romance genre but where I am having trouble is the fact that there are a lot of chapters in the book that is there just to fix each character into its position or simply getting you more acquainted with the central or supporting characters and then when you talk about supporting characters there are a whole lot..Almost like trying to get to know an entire classroom of 40-50 students
There are a lot of short chapters making it a very lengthy book and because of which at times it feels like the pace must have halted but I will admit that even in all these the author actually makes you remember each and every character because she draws a sharp picture of each one of them that you can’t forget any of these characters even if you try.
The interesting thing is that by the third book there are so many characters that you no more know which are the central characters because all of them collectively form the book and no one stands out enough to say that the story belongs to a particular character.
Technically the entire book could be summed up in half of the book’s present volume but the author has taken an extensive effort to bring forward each character and give them all space and depending upon how you like knowing your characters you may like it or you may feel it is just piling upon pages making it a voluminous one.
Undoubtedly second half is the life of the whole book but towards the end the author does play a little trick on you which at times feel like too tricky almost inception movie equivalent tricky
In a jist the book wraps up everything but in the process has gone on to be a really lengthy process. In my opinion certain chapters were just dragging on with nothing much happening that could add to the developments of the story in general but on the other hand, it is making you spend more time with all those numerous characters and making it easier for you to know who is who. Beauty of the writing is that in spite of having a lot of what I would call filler chapters, the book has a steady pace to it.
Shh....I know how Rouge ends, and it's everything I could have wanted. It's been great to see this series evolve. Rouge, plus Embers and Ice are terrific, involving stories that yes, give us something different from the current run of Marvel and DC films. These stories could sit happily in either comic universe. But a comic this is not - a wonderfully crafted story that puts readers on a hell of a rollercoaster before the end.
I first discovered this three book series on Wattpad and fell in love with the characters. The story line is so unique to itself and such a fun read. It deals with real life topics while also sprinkling in a hefty amount of super powers and villains to create a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I loved the diversity of the characters as well as all of the different personalities seen. Would definitely give these books two thumbs up!
3.5 stars. By far my favorite book in the series, I would've given it 4 stars, except for a few editing errors, it was more dark then I normally enjoy and the writing (though much improved) still tells me about feelings instead of making me feel them. I did enjoy the characters much more in this book
3 story lines: ICE activities, escaped mutants, SSS (Secret Sociey of Superheroes) missions. It starts directly after Embers & Ice and I don't remember all the details.
Likes: * Superheroes / Impossibles * Fans ~ support personnel
Dislikes: * Why doesn't Eli remember Hunter?
With-reservations: language, sexual innuendos, references & banter, sadistic torture, violence, sexual situations

I have read the previous two books in this trilogy, so I was excited to have the opportunity to read the third book, even though I'd forgotten a lot of what had happened in the previous two books.
I was a bit disappointed to see the way characters like Jet referred to themselves as evil, since I always feel that the more interesting villains are those who think they have good reasons for what they do. Wolfe was an awful person and I had a strong dislike towards him, even before he threatened Will's life.
It was nice to see Hunter and Will share some sweet moments together, but also to see that there were conflicts in their relationship. I also liked seeing Joshua and Jenny interacting together, especially since Joshua wasn't a 'true' bad guy... and I did get the impression he cared about the kids.
I liked Zac's character, but I really liked him interacting with Chantel as well. I thought they were sweet together. I did find it hard to differentiate between some of the younger characters, but I did like those who were expanded upon... and it was good to see that the danger they were in felt real and that there were sacrifices made. I especially hated what happened with Fearne and it was good to see that people didn't just forget what happened with her and the others.
I did have a lot of sympathy for Jack, but at the same time, I could tell how difficult it was for Hunter to deal with trying to take on all of the responsibility. I did like Chevie and I could understand why he did what he did.
I also really liked Ryo's character, although I would have liked to see more of her relationship with her brother. At the same time, it was good to see that there was so much she was able to do... and the fact that, despite the power's strength, it did still have limitations.
I did feel that the ending was rushed a bit and I would have liked to see some of those scenes expanded upon. But I was drawn really easily into this book and I did enjoy reading it. It was a bit of a disappointment to see it end... but I did think the ending was quite a nice one.
I was reading this story on Wattpad and as I continue to read it I really enjoyed it I liked how Hunter and Will dealt with the death of fearne. I just feel that the first fight scene was a little forced, and the deaths that came along with it. I also feel that the prologue should have ended with Jack being sent to prison for life. however it was nice for Will to see his parents again and mend their relationship.
Take a group of kids that have powers, a mad scientist and an ever changing story line, then you might see where this book is going! ICE is where all the torment and torture takes place but its whereabouts are truly unknown. Its a dark evil place where the only life that comes from it is left unhinged. When one of the kids escapes its sets off a whole mess of them escaping but who will be sacrificed to fight while the others receive their freedom? Dr. Wolfe is the mad scientist and Hunter is his favorite test subject at the moment. Hunter refuses to give in to give up she will do what needs to be done no matter what to back at Dr. Wolfe but when the doc decides to put her against her friends she must make some seriously life and death decisions and has little hope for anything else. Good read for most ages.
