The Prime race is facing extinction, but the research of Dr. Brianna Martin may hold the answer to their salvation. There’s just one problem, a group of Pure Blood fanatics will stop at nothing to see her dead! On the run from deadly peril, Bria meets her match in Iolyn Caradoc, a man determined to save her at all costs! Prime Imperative is a fast-paced, sexy, and thoroughly entertaining addition to Monette Michaels’ exciting series, The Prime Chronicles.
Adopted and raised by Terrans, Dr. Brianna Martin never quite fit in. She’s thrilled to learn she’s a long-lost female of the Prime race. And that she has a mate living somewhere on the planet Cejuru Prime—one genetically destined to be hers alone. Before she figures out how to approach him, she’s attacked in her research lab.
Iolyn Caradoc is stunned at the news that his mate, matched to him soon after birth, still lives. Even more amazing, she’s a research scientist on the verge of discovering why the Prime race is dying. But Pure Blood fanatics are trying to kill her and she’s on the run. Every primal instinct in him insists he find, claim, and protect his mate. But the woman won’t stay put.
When Bria finally meets Iolyn, she’s thrilled. He’s everything she could want—physically strong, highly intelligent, and … the other half of her soul. Yet, he’s also an overwhelmingly dominant and stubborn Prime warrior who wishes to protect her from everything—including her own Prime nature. As a Prime battle-mate, she has newfound instincts and skills—skills that will make her a true warrior. Skills she fully intends to learn and use.

dnf'd at 69%. really you shame the soulmate that doesnt want to rub elbows with the woman that the H she loved went to instead of her for sex because he was "confused".
The h of first book just told h of second book to get over it. She just said she didnt want to meet her. ugh done so done. Oh since she decided to pull that shit into this book it STILL hadn't been addressed by the H in book 2 to his h.
I gave this four stars last year, but I can't even finish rereading it. I'm just not connecting here and I'm bored with all the sex. So I dropped it down to three stars and am giving up on trying to read it again.
Not my favorite out of the series so far, but still quite enjoyable. I also didn't realize who the "bad guy" was until I was pretty much told. I just didn't see that coming! Hopefully there are more books in this series planned. I look forward to reading more about these characters and seeing how their lives have progressed.
Loved this third book in the series. Actually love the whole series! I am hoping that we will have a book about Susa and her brother, i think that would be an awesome one to see:) Again great book!
I am so in love with the world that Ms. Monette has created. Prime Imperative may be the 3rd book in the series but can totally be read as a standalone... But I would highly recommend reading the first 2 for the sheer pleasure of it.
Prime Obsession (The Prime Chronicles, #1) Prime Selection (The Prime Chronicles #2) Prime Imperative (The Prime Chronicles, #3) Prime Claiming (The Prime Chronicles #3.5)
The plot and characters were excellent. I could have done without the sex scenes -- they were all pretty much the same -- he ties her up and arouses her to the point of orgasm but doesn't let her orgasm until she begs. Plus every time the author used the term "grunt" during sex completely threw me off.

The last 25% of the book saved it from being a one star book. The first two books in the series were good, because the author didn't overdo the stereotypical aspects of the fluff and told a story. This one was overblown fluff less story.
I did enjoy the end of the series. It closed gaps and at the same time introduced a heroine, who was still kick ass but in a different way. I love how smart Brianna was.
I was excited for Iolyn to get his mate and wasn't disappointed. He is the brother who uses his brains as well as his brawn. He reminds me of "Tweeter" from Monette's SSI series if you haven't read it you should. Iolyn is always supportive of his family, never jealous, and patiently waits for his one. All of Monette's books that I have read so far have strong heroines we would all like to be that are loved by alpha males. As they escape the dangers of the story they also struggle to try and figure out who is in charge.

Dr. Brianna Martin is a Terran-raised leading researcher who has contracted with Prime stating that with her research, she might be able to find out the problem that has made pregnancy and child birth almost nonexistent in the Prime world. She asked for permission to come to the Prime world so that she and her team can come up with a solution. Brianna has a motive in trying to help the Prime before they become extinct; she is one of the lost Prime mates. Brianna has kept this a secret until her life is in danger by the Pure Bloods, and she again contacts the Prime for emergency help.
Iolyn Caradoc is one of the sons of the Prime leader, and he thought for many, many years now that his Prime battle mate died in the last ditch effort of the Prime to save their children and females. So to say he is stunned to find out that his mate is not only living, but requesting to come to the Prime world is putting it mildly. Then he finds out that she has been attacked and is on the run. Nothing is going to keep Iolyn calm until he has his mate in his arms and in his bed.
Iolyn, his brothers and their mates, and the Galanti’s entire crew are now racing for Brianna and her team. Once they all finally meet up, the danger isn’t nearly over, but Iolyn and Brianna are face-to-face for the first time since they were infants and their passion is ready to explode. The trip back to the Prime world is full of adventure as it seems the Prime’s ancient enemies, the Antarean and others, are determined to strike at all Prime holds. As Iolyn, Brianna, and the others start piecing the answers together, it all points to a highly placed betrayal on Prime itself. Now everyone is back on the Prime world and trying to figure out who is behind everything. It turns out the betrayal is closer to the Caradoc family than ever imagined, and it is pretty personal. The truth is out, but the mates are still in deadly danger. Can the combined actions of the Caradocs and their mates bring an end to the danger facing all mates and the fertility problems before all is lost?
It’s one thing to know you had a mate and most likely lost her years ago, it’s another to discover that she is living and in deadly danger, and yet another to finally have your mate and almost lose her again. Brianna and Iolyn face all of that and more in Prime Imperative. I expected a lot of emotion while reading Iolyn and Brianna’s story, and I was not let down. I loved how Iolyn and Brianna fought to come together and still worked as hard as they did with his entire family to defeat the danger that has been directed at their mates and also solve the problems that have been affecting the Prime and fertility for so long. I was amazed to discover just what was behind all of it and just how twisted someone can become over something. I foresee long, loving and child-filled lives for Iolyn and Brianna, along with his brothers and their mates and even the majority of the Prime. Prime Imperative is full of highs and lows mixed in with suspense and passion—who could ask for anything more? I would suggest reading the books of this series in order so that you can gather all of the clues that seem to be sprinkled throughout them.
Not entirely sure why, but this one left me feeling a bit... meh.
I think I just didn't care for Bria that much. There wasn't anything wrong with her per say, but I think she was just too perfect, too agreeable, too everything! Her only issues were constantly being attacked by pseudo-reptiles - apparently they had a thing for her, since a non connected one attacked her independently of the first attack; and being raised a pacifist.
Iloyn, I liked him in the first 2 books.. this one I was a bit meh about. He was still fine but there was just something... meh.
This book got more 'wild' (I say that VERY loosely) because there was a BDSM element to it. That left me more confused than anything, as it came across as being very vanilla and non existent. The only difference in the kinkiness of this book vs the first 2, is that at one point he had her hold on to a pair of scarves (didn't even tie her, just had her hold them). Everything else was pretty glossed over. We constantly heard about his kinky BDSM nature, but never really saw any of it. And to them, anal was part of his BDSM kink. Which suddenly all the other females (Mel and Nadia) were like "Oh yeah, our guys do that with us as well. They spank us too." So... the only thing that was shown as being part of Iloyn's kinky nature was denying her orgasms? Even Lorinda (or whatever the mother's name is) was like 'yeah... Ilar ties me up. It's wonderful. Like father, like son eh?'. So as I said, that really only left the orgasm denial. Which wasn't even that big a theme since usually (and this isn't me making it up), she would have a minimum of 6 orgasms (that's the number Monette Michaels really liked in this book) every single time they had a smexy fun times session. I say minimum, because usually the wordage was "He has been torturing me for the last hour by denying me my 7th orgasm!" or something like that.
I'm not saying this one was bad... but I just don't think it hooked me like the first two did.
Oh, and the plot... forgot about that. Well.. we found out who the baddie was. It wasn't really surprising at all. What was surprising was how the baddie was supposedly
I was really anticipating Bria & Iolyn's story but was disappointed to find it was the weakest in the series. Dr Brianna Martin is a researcher in genetics and fertility who is studying the Prime fertility issue, only to find out that she is Prime herself and not terran. The story starts dramatically as she sends a message to the Galactic Alliance for assistance after being assaulted and stalked by a crazed admirer and that they find her gemate. Enter Iolyn, our hero who, mimmicks Wulf & Haw in the you're-a-helpless-woman-and-I-have-to-protect-you routine for the next 23 or so chapters. Follow it up with a gratuitous amount of hot monkey sex, excessive usage of the word batel rabia (you'd think Iolyn had serious anger issues with how often it's thrown around), kidnapping/death plots, conspiracies, some ass-whooping and you have yourself Prime Imperative. Other than some repetitiveness, the only other issue people might have about the story are a few paragraphs about Bria's research. Personally I felt a little uncomfortable about talk of fertilized eggs being implanted in lab grown tissues and being exposed to bacteria to see which abort etc, but since Bria is meant to be a scientist, it would be in character. Overall, a good hot space opera. I just wish that we got more of Bria's possessive, brooding and smexy brother Damon! XD
Monette Michaels has a great story with Prime Imperative. This is part of a series but I did not find myself lost at all. If anything I want to go back and read what I missed there is a lot of great story inside this book combined with hot chemistry that kept me reading. Bria is tough, strong but very vulnerable. These qualities were really interesting to see played out. She has a softness to her that attracts her mate, Iolyn but her bravery sometimes scares him. Iolyn has an urge to protect what is he sees as his. Bria was born his so he is in over drive to protect her. He also has many other factors that weigh heavily on him. He is a very strong likeable character. I like how Ms Michaels brings everything together inside this book. Why and hows of things and a shadow of things to come. This is a well rounded and thought out series that I really want more of. I hope there are many more books in this world, I know I would love to read them all.
This is the third book in the Prime Chronicles. I didn't get sucked into the story right away even with the action beginning immediately, but once I got into the story, I was hooked. It was also fun to see characters from previous stories play an important role in this one and get to meet new ones.
Bria has discovered that she is one of the Prime females sent off planet in the hopes of saving the females of Prime from their ancient enemy. At the end of Prime Selection, we found Bria is mated to Iolyn. The adventures begins there and then we go to Bria's perspective.
The mystery of the Prime fertility problems is further explored with surprising results. The Caradocs and their friends are all drawn in. Read, enjoy, I did.
I love this series and cannot wait for more! But my favourite will always be Wulf and Mel whose book is the first bk called Prime Obsession. There are 3 brothers in this series who each have a book of their own who each meet their mates through their gemat markings as their mates will have similar marking to match theirs. What i really love about this is that the women they are sassy, intelligent, beautiful, and most of all women who have combat skills and can hold their own against any man! Which you will see once you get to read the series. The series is action packed from start to finish, with alot of sass, wit and romance! I really hope the next book will be of Damon and Susa!
What I liked about this installment was Bria and Iolyn knew of each other and actually wanted to get together. In many books like these(sci fi/fated mates) they fight or run from their destiny. I liked Bria and Damon's time together-his brotherly love intertwined with "real" love for her(definitely NOT sisterly). Bria has to come to terms with her family lying to her about what she is (Prime) and why no one told her. I was glad to see the Caradoc brothers and their mates pull together-the women especially(loved the sex talks). I am anxious to read about Damon and Susa-such interesting characters with a lot going on in their lives.
The 3rd book in the series, thankfully, takes a different tack to the previous 2, which were great books, but we don't need to read the same again.
Dr Bria Martin, who is a Prime lost one, wants her gemat and doesn't fight the bond. She does fight her One, Iolyn, as he is a typical Prime male and believes she should stay safe and not get involved with fighting, even though she is a battle-mate.
Lots of kidnapping attempts and the traitorous Prime who is sabotaging the Prime women from bringing babies to their world. Bria of course is a research specialist in that field.
Glad there will be more stories in the Prime world.
From the beginning to the end this one kept me going! As the third book this wraps up the mystery of Primes birth rate issue but what a surprise! This series is a great adventure and written to be enjoyed. The battle scene are written so that you can see it happening as the words one to life. The intimate scenes are not and steamy but balanced with the story. And the male characters are hot hot hot alpha males (just say yum, you know you want to) paired with strong, driven ladies! I loved the book and the series. Will look for more from Monette Michaels.
Disappointing. I am saddened to see that the author has caved to adding non labelled BDSM to the sex. It was a good series. It includes: - spanking for punishment to the point of pain that needs healing and prevents normal activity - bondage
I was able to give it a second star since the author does differentiate between activities that cause bleeding and such from the other.
I wait with bated breath for when authors start to realize that erotic doesn't have to equal BDSM and pain. What a turnoff.
This was a decent story, but it seemed like every page was constantly describing or explaining how this alien world worked or why they thought what they did. This was the 3rd book in the series so we should have that info by now. I'm also not a fan of drawing out a sex scene for page filler by constant talk or minute description to slow things down. If you get past all that then the story was entertaining.
This is the 3rd book in the Prime series and Brianna and Iolyn are the couple to mate. Brianna is a Dr. and is hot on the trail of finding out why the females on the planet are not having children. That puts her in great peril and drives Iolyn crazy as she just does not conform to his expectations. I loved the interplay between them...it was funny and serious too. Loved the story line. Can hardly wait for the next book in the series. Highly recommend.
I loved the first two books but maybe because there were such a long break between them and this 3rd book, I wasn't able to really put myself into it. I didn't feel close to Iolyn and Brianna and the story bored me a bit, as from the beginning Bria seems to wait for her white knight to save her... Just not as fun as when the woman is actually fighting the bound and making things more interesting.
Bria couldn't wait to meet her mate, when they met not only did sparks fly but everything from knives and bullets did too. There is always someone trying to kill the Prime Mates.the Elders did not want any more children that were not Pure Bloods.I recommend everyone read this book and the other 2 also.
LOVED this story. Love the writing and the romance and even the instalove in this case. Bria is a strong, intelligent mate for Iolyn and I absolutely cheered for her as she won fight after fight to improve herself and be everything that Iloyn needs, even if he doesn't appreciate it at first. Great series.
Can't Get Enough of these Characters, even some of the bad guys.
Love the entire series. Great storyline, character development and flow from book to book. This I probably my 4th of 5th reread . But I need to do it for my 2nd reread of the next book with Damon and Susa. Look forward hopefully, to more.
Another awesome addition to a great series by Monette Michaels. Iolyn's and Bria's story is action-packed, HOT and gripping from cover to cover. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series. 5 stars!!!
Many familiar characters from prior books, but new plot twists. Each alpha male is a little different and these aren't shy and retiring females. Enjoyable escape
Monette does a wonderful job writing these series and keeping a great story line with wonderful, likable characters. I like the bad-ass women and the alpha male characters!
