This book gripped me and had me anticipating the next page over and over again. Wow, Ms. Michaels, what a kick ass job you did on the suspense, thrills, mystery and romance all rolled into one!!
I won a copy of this book from Goodreads Giveaways.
HOLY STREAM OF CURSE WORDS
First off let me say that I would have rated this book a 10 if I had the chance.
Amazing!
The title was completely befitting. I was not expecting this book to be as intense as it was! I had to put it down a walk away from screaming in anticipation. I loved the development of Drew and Breanne's relationship. How they discovered and grew to know each others personalities through all the situations and obstacles that were placed in front of them made me love them even more. You won't be able to put it down.

Curveball was just like the title...curveball after curveball after curveball! Breanne, a pretty and witty mom of three no longer married, and Drew, a hot ball player in every sense of the word, experience a roller coaster of a ride. Curveball is slightly scary, thrilling, intense, and a bit hot. I was on the edge while reading...the twists and turns of this story sucked me in...and I loved every minute! I felt like I watching a mixed movie that's a jammed-pack suspense, thriller, and romance. I can't wait to see how Curveball throws me for more twists and turns in the next book. Great first novel by Teresa Michaels!
This book was really good! The synopsis immediately grabbed my attention and I knew I just had to read it.
This story is packed full of suspense that will keep you turning the pages, keep you guessing what happens next, and more than likely, will keep you up reading past your bedtime. I found myself constantly thinking about this story when I wasn’t reading and couldn’t wait to dive back in.
I was immediately drawn to the characters, feeling an instant connection. Drew is a gorgeous, cocky professional baseball player who is not in the market for love. Not only is he a player on the field, he’s a whole different kind of player off the field. Breanne is a widow with three kids who finally decides to get back in the work force – she is definitely not looking for love. But, when these two meet on a plane while sitting next to each other, their chemistry is nothing less than perfect.
From the moment these two met I was completely hooked. The adventures they experienced together made for an exciting read that had me craving more. It ends in a cliffy (that I did not see coming!), and lucky for us – book 2 will be released very soon! Cannot wait to see how this plays out! I highly recommend this if you are looking for a thrilling suspense novel with some delicious romance thrown in. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Michaels. :)
3.5 Stars (characters/romance=4 stars, suspense/plot development=3 stars) I enjoy discovering new authors, books, & characters to love. If a book's synopsis is unique & interesting, I'm usually game to give it a try. Curveball fits the criteria, tempting me to accept the book for a honest review in spite of my overfull reading calendar. As I read, I found myself drawn into an intriguing story with a couple of main characters I soon found myself pulling for. Breanne is a mother of 3 who has returned to the workforce after several years of staying at home, and Drew is a skirt chasing, hard drinking baseball player whose contract may or may not be renewed. When they meet on the maiden voyage of a new, innovative airline, sparks fly. However, things soon take an unexpected turn for the worse, & they find themselves stranded & in a race for their lives. Michaels did a good job developing these characters and certainly made me care about them. Breanne has an innocent air about her but turns out to be a strong heroine who can stand up for herself. While Drew first came off as arrogant & a bit full of himself, I soon saw another side to the man, and I fell in love. Their developing relationship sizzles even though both are in denial. Great job with character development!
While I found the concept of the story intriguing, I felt like the suspense/mystery plot was neglected somewhat in favor of the developing romance. There are several unanswered questions at the end of the book...Who? Why? What are they after? I won't discuss in detail because of spoilers but I wanted more of the suspense to be developed in this book. While I'm sure it will be in the follow up book, the lack of it in Curveball distracted a little from the overall purpose/pleasure of the book for me. The ending is a cliffhanger & while it did leave me wanting to read more, it also left me a little unsatisfied...questions raised early in the book are barely addressed in the story...I'm okay with everything not being resolved but not with it being mostly overshadowed.
All in all, this is a good first book, and I look forward to more from this obviously talented author. Great imagination & character development! **Thanks to Teresa Michaels for a free copy of this book to review!**
A love story like never ever before, two individuals like never before, and an ending life never ever before. This story is such a big curveball that towards the end, you are left wondering what hit you so hard that you got dazed. Teresa is a master writer and Curveball is a novel any mystery lover must read. The twists and turns of the book are something, the likes of which are hardly ever obtained these days. It is a book which you have to read to believe
I finished this book a couple of days ago. The author has a great flow in her writing style and I enjoyed the book. I did come across a few grammatical errors (misspellings, missing commas/unnecessary commas, etc.) but not too much. The author has a tendency to start quite a few sentences with conjunctions (particularly "and") which, yes is acceptable in some cases, but may not be the best choice in all cases. I have had it drilled into my head from high school through grad school to NEVER start sentences with conjunctions, so when I see it it bothers me tremendously. I have done a little research on it though and with the evolution of language it has become more acceptable in certain cases...but you should keep in mind that this may not be the best choice when considering all of the readers. Overall, I did enjoy the book. The character development is fairly good and as a reader I did develop some sympathy towards Drew and Breanne. However, I'm not a fan of romance so I did feel that the romance overshadowed the story. For those that enjoy romance, however, may not find this to be an issue. I just tend to get annoyed with the emotional turmoil of "does he like me?" or "she is so beautiful, she just does something to me." I wanted some more explanation of why the plane crashed and the connection between Drew's sister, Breanne's husband, and the airline company. I was disappointed with the ending because of so many lose strings. I realize that there is a sequel where these issues will be explained but I felt that this book needed some more explanations. I have read other series where the author left just enough for a sequel but tied up the present book to satisfy the reader. This book lacked that satisfaction for me.
Have you ever finished a book and your mind is like "What the f*ck?!?!" then you message the author because you most definitely loved the book but you think she is evil and mean?? Well that happened with this story! Teresa Michaels wrote this on edge of your seat book wonderfully. Once I started it I couldn't put it down. She pulls you into the story of Breanne and Drew; their first met is amusing, their escape through the woods makes you feel like you are with them in how she describes in detail everything that happens. The twists and turns that happen will not be what you expect at all and will make you question everything you thought you knew.
When you meet Breanne you feel her strength to be a good mother to her children and the love she has for them. You can't help but feel her joy and pain through out this entire book. With Drew I just wanted to take him in my bedroom and tie him up hahahaha ... But seriously I loved watching him grow in this story. From his sexy smirk that he loved to use; to the feelings he developed just made you want to be the woman he was feeling it for.
★I nuzzle my nose into her hair and kiss her forehead. She nuzzles right back and a soft purr escapes her lips. It’s not enough. I need more of her to reassure myself that this isn’t the end. “Good thing I don’t plan on saying goodbye.” With the tip of my finger I tilt her chin up and claim her mouth with mine.★
If you are looking for a book that sucks you in from the beginning and won't leave you disappointed that you will immediately get the 2nd book Rundown then grab this book and start it now!
This wasn't one of my usual reads but I absolutely loved it!!! The plot was brilliant and the twists were definitely a surprise! Breanne and Drew are an amazing couple, seeing them interact and fall in love was beautiful. The plane ride grabs your attention immediately what seems so normal and routine, turned out to be a devastating "accident". The next events really get your mind working and on the edge of your seat, it grips you and you won't want to put it down. A few times I felt myself holding my breath dying to find out what would happen next. The intensity you can feel from the characters is brilliant almost tangible. My heart broke for these two on so many occasions but I still have the highest hope for them in book 2.
Alone she must raise her children and go back to the corporate world, can she trust a man she has just met when things go wrong?
Breanne Sullivan’s world has been turned upside down. In the midst of an investigation surrounding her husband, Breanne returns to the corporate world she left years ago to raise her children. High-tech travel turns into a game of survival that invites temptation and threatens to push their desires over the edge. (Amazon Blurb) From the beginning we suspect Breanne has gone through hell and back, and from the short nightmare we have managed to see, worst was done to her. Albeit her past, she still manages to get up every morning for her children, make the decision to go back to work to make a living and still manage to smile. As for Drew, he’s what I call a player, your typical human being that believes they are impenetrable and a gift to others, and as such, should be revered. I’m so happy Breanne gives him a dose of reality! I must admit, I have never heard of Teresa Michaels nor of her novels and series. Before receiving my copy of Curveball, I hadn’t tracked down any previous reviews or books for the simple fact that I wanted the experience of knowing whether or not I personally enjoyed her; and quite honestly, I was overly impressed by not only the storyline, but the connection between the characters that are relatable and the edge of your seat suspense that keeps you coming back for more.

Wow! I think I have a book hangover. The name of the book is definitely appropriate for this story. I was drawn into the story from the very start. I didn't want to put the book down because I was anxious to find out what was going to happen next.
Breanne is leaving on a business trip, back to work after many years of being a stay at home mom. This is the first time she will be away from her three children. At the airport she finds that her flight reservation had been cancelled and that her assistant has set her up with a different airline. She is now going on the maiden flight on Innovation Airways.
Drew is on his way to California. Before he gets on the plane he has a news conference to do because of his endorsement deal with the Airline. He is the pitcher for the Boston Red Sox. His contract is about up and he isn't sure what will happen.
Breanne and Drew feel an attraction and both are surprised. Drew is wealthy, athletic and a womanizer. He has a reputation of being a ladies man and does not stick with one girl.
I love the development of the characters with insight to what has happened to them and how they grew into the type of person they are today. The two develop an attachment to each other partially because of the tragic event that they were apart of and their growing attraction for one another. The two have to rely on one another to make it through the difficulties they encounter in the attempt to get back to their families.
I recommend this book because it is an amazing book. I really enjoyed this suspenseful and action packed story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, waiting to find out what is going to happen. Also throw in a little love story into the mix. Read to find out what a Rollercoaster ride these characters are on and if they are going to be able to stay ahead of the Curveball coming their way. Great read go get yours today.
Story line: 4 Stars Grammar, writing conventions, word choices: 2.5 stars
As another reviewer wrote, it's difficult to speak about this book without giving spoilers, so I'll keep my comments brief. Rather than repeat the back-cover information, I refer potential readers to the book information supplied on this site.
This book has a very engaging story line, two well-drawn lead characters, and the author's creativity is abundantly clear as you read along this mystery/suspense/crime/romance drama. Is this also a tale of industrial espionage or of terrorism? Are the deaths of close relatives of Breanne and Drew related?
I read this book in one sitting and was eager to find the answers to my questions, to get some resolution to the suspense, to find out who were the good guys and the bad. Alas, this was a cliffhanger, with a sequel forthcoming. I would like to know how this all ends.
I do hope this promising author finds a proofreader-editor to help her with word choices and other grammatical issues. This investment would raise the ratings considerably, in my opinion.
My thanks to Teresa Michaels for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Holy frigging smoke ! I am amazed. To say I love this book is an understatement. It has everything, jam packed with storyline and plot and adventure and drama and...just wow! My heart sighed, then it broke a little bit, then it thought maybe things might get better and started kind of purring but no, alas, it is shattered! I am absolutely in love with Drew. What a man he is! It makes a really refreshing change to see a different age dynamic between the 2 characters too. In all honesty I'm getting a bit fed up of those billionaires seducing slightly younger women, I love that Breanne (what a brilliant name by the way!!!!) is the same age as me (ish) and still making her mark on the world. And that ending...good God almighty! Talk about a twist to the tale...and a cliff hanger?! Streuth, it's a good one!! I'll put into perspective how much I loved this book...I boiled the kettle 4 times before actually making myself a cuppa...then didn't actually drink it until it was practically iced tea!!! That's how immersed in it I was. Serious authorship skills there Teresa Michaels...I applaud you!!
I was thrown a Curveball by Teresa Michaels in the best possible way. (Spoiler Free)
Curveball was steamy, action packed and in general just a damn good read.
Responsible Breanne Sullivan has a feisty side that doesn’t disappoint. Charismatic Drew Scott draws you in with his constant innuendos and playful teasing. The back and forth banter between them keeps you wondering what either may say or do next as you ride shotgun to the budding friendship they form, watching it unfold and grow page by page.
As if the chemistry between Breanne and Drew weren’t enough to entertain, the story line’s twists and turns drag you into a mystery that just when you believe you know what’s going on…you don’t. Curveball keeps you on the edge, wanting to know what’s around the next corner, rooting for Breanne and Drew the whole way.
Teresa Michaels did a great job of creating characters that you emotionally invest in while building a story that is fast paced and riveting.
Curveball is a must read and I must read the next book!
I was approached by the author Teresa Michaels to ask if I would consider reading her book and giving my honest review on it. Remember, we all have differing takes on books, that is what makes it so exciting!!
We have Breanne [loved that name] who is the Mother of three children. She has returned to work after several years of being at home, and we all know what this is like.
Then we have Drew. He isn't adverse to getting what he wants and when he wants it. UNTIL he met Breanne.
The title of this book has been well thought through, not only leading into the story but the curves that this story brings. I have to say that its romance [of course it is!] but it has suspense in it too.
My only moan personally would be, I just wish the author had emphasized the suspense more and made that bit stand out more instead of concentrating just on the growing attraction between the two.
That's not a compliant, its my observation of choice :)
Brilliant book, I think you should ONE CLICK IT for sure
Do you want murder, mystery, suspense, action with a little bit of love thrown in? If so pick up this book.
The action starts right away when Drew and Breanna are involved in a plane crash that was not an accident. They became friends on the plane but soon learn to depend on each other as they run for their lives. As they face this adventure you get to know about them and their life. Ms Michaels does a great job of developing them as characters.
What made this story was the never ending twists and turns. Breanna and Drew never got a break. Just when they thought they were making head way something derailed them. There was so much suspense, mystery and action that you kept turning the pages hoping they would get away from the ones chasing them. Even after they returned home they faced obstacles in their lives and relationship.
Warning: This story ends in one he!! of a cliffhanger. Ms. Michaels please get us book 2 asap.
I received a gift copy in exchange for an honest review.

Theresa Michaels did a great job at carefully planning out this very tangled up situation that Breanne Sullivan, a feisty mother of three and Drew Scott, the womanizing baseball player get thrown into.
It was pretty easy to love the characters from the get go, even Drew who lives a celebrity life full of booze, sex and money, you could quickly see he was so much more. Breanne is both feisty and sweet, she is very clearly guarded and for good reason.
This is a hard one to review without spoilers and it defiantly left you itching to read the next book.
I would recommend Curveball by Teresa Michaels to anyone looking for some action, steam and yes, curveballs!
You know you are onto something when you dream about the characters! Curveball indeed! Fantastic romance, incredibly strong characters, suspense and intrigue are plenty! Very well written. The author is very careful to give enough detail to scenes to build atmosphere but not so much as to become boring. I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to book 2. What a cliff-hanger ending! You will see my verified purchase on amazon UK but as an author I am aware the reviews on UK and USA do not join up, hence I have manually added it to both sites given the author is clearly in the US I thought it only fair.
This book grabbed my attention from the first page and did not let go until the very last page. AND left me wanting more!!
I love the dynamics between the hero (Drew) and the heroine (Breanne), I love their witty banter and quirks. Drew is so swoon worthy and fun, perfectly matched by Breanne's sassy attitude.
But this book is so much more than your normal romance. There is so much suspense, twists and turn, and things you will never see coming right up to the end the twist just keep coming.
I can't wait for Rundown to read more of this high paced story!
What a great book!! Omg!! This is a new author to me and she has literally has hit it out of the park!! Breanne and Drew are two great characters!! This story like is not typical (which I'm so thankful for) and the writing draws you in and you keep flipping the pages. I stayed up until 230 am reading this and immediately bought the second book. I would highly recommend this read for any suspense romance reader!!
From the very beginning, you think you know what is happening and then you start to question because the pieces aren't connected and then BOOM. You start questioning again what you think you just solved. The suspense and mystery never ends which is great.
I love the chemistry of Drew and Breanne, they are able to grow and learn from each other. Can't wait to finish reading their story in Rundown.
Wow, just Wow! From the first to the last page, this book had me on the end of my seat. Drew and Breanne's story was full of twists and turns. I cannot wait to read more!
I LOVED this book! It was a very easy read for me because I couldn't put it down! The twists were perfect and I love how it was somewhat based about Boston because I live in MA. Highly recommend this book and series!
Absolutely loved this book! The plot is unique and pulls you in! The drama is off the charts and the twists and turns are perfect! The love story is wonderful too! This is definitely worth the read!
I had received and started reading this book back in March, I was 54% into the story, utterly hooked. Unfortunately, I had to stop reading, life happened, and I wasn't able to continue reading until a few days ago. What is amazing is that through the two months I was unable to pick this book back up I thought about it, I thought about Drew and Breanne. I craved this book and these characters. I was so captivated by the first part of the book that I did not have to go back and re-read. The story stuck with me. This is rare, normally if I put a book down and go more than a few days without reading, I have to start back at page one... or I just don't continue reading at all. That was not the case. I absolutely loved this book! It was well written, captivating, and kept me turning page after page. This is definitely a book I would read again, which is also rare. I highly recommend Curveball to all readers! In the future I will be reading any and all of Teresa Michaels' books.
Review of Curveball (Curveball #1) by Teresa Michaels
Review done for Hooked on Books
4 ½ out of 5 stars
Breanne Sullivan has decided to get back in the workforce after 2 years away. Her husband dies two years previous leaving her alone to raise their 3 kids.
Going away on a business trip was supposed to be a simple task, but when unimaginable events happen, the trip away turns into a nightmare.
Drew Scott is a famous pitcher and a gorgeous and sexy ladies man. On a trip to California aboard the Innovation Airway’s maiden flight, he finds himself next to a beautiful woman whom he just can’t seem to keep his eyes off of. He has never wanted a relationship, but this woman has him questioning his ideals. Breanne is different from any other woman he has ever met.
Before the two of them can really get to know each other, disaster strikes and their worlds are turned upside down. The plane crashes leaving them the only survivors.
Finding their way back to civilization should be their biggest worry but there are gunmen searching for them as well.
Nothing is what it seems and Breanne and Drew are in a desperate fight for their lives.
This book was fantastic! It was full of action, romance, and angst. I flew through this book frantic to see what happened next. The story was really intriguing and a breath of fresh air; something totally different than I have read before.
I loved Drew and Breanne. They had a special chemistry between them.
The author leaves us with a huge cliffhanger and a jaw dropping revelation, so I cannot wait to read book 2!!
