Eden Valley Sunrise

Some lessons can only be learned outside the pages of a book.

Oregon Territory, 1851 — After a year of carving a new life from the raw frontier, the settlers of Eden Valley are ready to open their first school—and Leah Atkins is the natural choice to lead it. She didn’t come west seeking power or praise; she came with her books, her ideals, and a quiet certainty that education could help shape a better future. But as September brings students to her classroom and October marks one year in this fragile new town, Leah finds herself at the heart of something much more complicated than a curriculum.

Tensions simmer beneath the surface of Eden Valley. Clashes over teaching priorities, disputes among neighbors, and a growing split over what kind of community they’re building all threaten the unity they fought so hard to create. And as a woman who prefers facts over feelings, Leah struggles to navigate the emotional demands of leadership—especially when she begins to suspect that her own cousins may no longer see her place in their home the same way.

In the quiet strength of carpenter Wyatt Pierce, Leah finds an unexpected ally. But even his steady presence can’t shield her from the questions rising in her What does it truly mean to belong? To lead? And can a woman who has always sought safety in solitude learn to trust not just in books—but in herself?

When the town needs more than a teacher, will Leah rise to meet the moment—or retreat to the only world she’s ever trusted?

Eden Valley Sunrise

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story just as I have all the others in both series leading to this time. I hope there will be more and would like to know more about the wagon train that was helped. The characters in the story are well thought out and very realistic.
