My once carefree life—dancing, smiling, and never looking over my shoulder—ended the day I was kidnapped and held by a serial killer for three months. A part of me was certain I was never getting out of there alive…and then when I thought my end was near, I was rescued.
But the killer is still out there, and he wants me back.
The police and FBI are bound by red tape and procedures and because of that, my sister believes they can’t protect me…not like the Saint brothers can. Soon, I’m in a house filled with gorgeous, brilliant, dangerous men, and yet I feel safer than I ever have. Most of that has to do with a certain sunglass-wearing tech genius named Noel. For the first time since being rescued, I feel something toward someone, and I want to explore that.
Noel
I thought my brothers were idiots as I watched them each fall in love. I don’t want to be held down—I love my computers, freedom, and not having to answer to anyone. Then we take on a protection case and Phoenix Briar walks into my life. With a blink of his hazel eyes and barely there smile, I find myself willing to not just protect him but to do it at the cost of my life.
With the Broken Doll Killer on the loose and determined to get his perfect doll back, my brothers and I are in a race against time to keep Phoenix safe and to find his monster before he shatters whatever is left of Phoenix. I’m determined to give Phoenix the love he deserves…and the revenge he needs.
What’s Left of Me is book four in my Saint Brothers series. While it could be read as a standalone it is highly recommended you read Slay Ride, Kill Me Sweetly, and Mine to Keep first since characters from those books play a part in this story.
Davidson King, always had a hope that someday her daydreams would become real-life stories. As a child, you would often find her in her own world, thinking up the most insane situations. It may have taken her awhile, but she made her dream come true with her first published work, Snow Falling.
She managed to wrangle herself a husband who matched her crazy and they hatched three wonderful children.
If you were to ask her what gave her the courage to finally publish, she’d tell you it was her amazing family and friends. Support is vital in all things and when you’re afraid of your dreams, it will be your cheering section that will lift you up.
This one didn't slap as hard as the first three entries, but 4/5ths of the way through, this is still a 5-star series. #dark #found family #vigilante justice ... this is where I live these days and few, if any, do it as well as Davidson King. 😏
I've so far really liked the books in the Saint brothers series, and this one is no exception. I have so far managed to be in suspense and surprised by the twists without feeling like they came from nowhere. And I really liked the romance, it is kind of fast paced in the timeline but it doesn't feel that way in page, it develops quite nicely. And I really like Phoenix as a character, and he matches very well with Noel. We currently have Angel still in need of a significant other and I bet that his book will be good too
Phoenix got the short end of the stick when he got captured by this crazy guy but when he finally gets freed, he has a lot of trauma and recovering to do but he was still in danger and that’s where the Saint Brothers came in. Once he went to live with the brothers for protection, he felt like a fish out of water but the brothers know how to be around people that went through hell and back. I loved how the brothers family dynamic was one of the things that helped Phoenix be present in the present and not stuck in that damn shed. Once he felt like Noel was a safe haven for him, things started rolling to the point where Phoenix needed Noel to be able to recount what happened to him, dealing with it but ultimately just being there for him.
What I love most about this series is that throughout the books, we have a therapist named Aziza and she was called upon every time anyone gets f**ked by life. I really enjoyed the work she did but also the way the author wrote it. It was easy to follow but it also showed that while the Saint Brothers are a part of the healing process, so is also her work.
Noel and the rest of the brothers are very protective as is but when Noel sees/ hears things that happened to Phoenix, he just has rage because why oh why did this had to happen to a beautiful dancer such as Phoenix? Noel started spending some time with him and bringing him out of his shell and like I mentioned before, helping him throughout the process of healing.
I liked their romance a lot but also the family’s shenanigans. They are always ridiculously fun, protective and compassionate and I just loved being in this world again.
Also Thank the Lord we finally found who this serial k!ller was!
Now the one left is Angel whom I’m very intrigued by because Two is out of the picture and I thought maybe he would be the one so I’m just a little confused because the brothers mentioned the fact that Two is gone and so is Angel’s shot at love so I’m intrigued to know what’s up in his pretty little head.
What's Left of Me is the fourth book in the Saint Brothers series. In my opinion this series is best read in order. This is the story of Phoenix and Noel. I love these two so much, Phoenix is just the perfect person for Noel. I wanted to hug Phoenix because of all the trauma he went through. This was a fast paced story but it works. Davidson King is a master of dark romance and this story fits in perfectly. I loved seeing the Saint brothers and significant others again. I laughed a couple of times because of the antics of the other couples. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.
Loved this continuation of the Saint Brothers series. Noel was everything I hoped he would be and Phoenix was his perfect counterpart. I love how the books are interwoven together but still have a separate feel.
What can I say about Saint Brothers #4, What's Left of Me, that could even come close to what I'm feeling? Those who follow me on SM or my reviews know that my life was turned upside down with the passing of my mother back in January. Some days are better than others, but to be perfectly honest, my stress levels and anxiety grow with every day as I try to navigate a new path forward as I attempt finding a job that allows me time to still care for my dad. This admission has nothing to do with Davidson King's book other than the story has given me an outlet for moments of relief and yet the stress makes my reviewing brain more clouded. So I want to put that out there in my hope this review comes out clear. The fact that it does give me moments of relief speaks the loudest to my enjoyment of this story.
Though I am part of the author's FB group, I always try to stay clear of her teaser Tuesday posts when I can, sometimes you just have to have a peak but in general, I like to be completely taken off guard when reading. Boy was I ever! I knew there was a serial killer element to the story waybackwhen, but I had no idea just what that would entail. I won't go into specifics, having been so unaware heightened the fear factor for me and I would never want to rob any reader of that same "WOW!" moments.
Before I talk about Noel and Phoenix, I want to mention that, even though What's Left of Me, is laden with dark moments, violence, and fear, I personally think the author's #3 Mine to Keep, is still the darkest and most soul-crushing entry as it dealt with both the subtlety and in your face effects of stalking. Having said that, just as I'm writing this review, I realized that the entire Saint Brothers series plays heavily into the psychological side and after effects of the crimes. Not sure how I missed that before this moment, because it's so clear to me now. Hindsight can be our biggest moment of clarity.
So, on to the men at the center of this amazing and disturbing story.
Phoenix. I loved how the author dealt with his fears. Through his inner monologue we have a fuller picture of what the serial killer did to him, or more significantly, what impact the vitriol he hammered into Phoenix has left on his psyche. Through his interactions with his sister, Hazel and gradually the Saint brothers, we see how it has affected his day to day emotions. As drawn to Noel Saint, Phoenix is, I think it's actually the interactions he has with the brothers' partners that begin to ground him and see that healing and overcoming trauma is doable. Don't get me wrong, this is a Phoenix and Noel story, but the author's use of the partners, though small in page-time, is huge in healing.
Noel. Him and his brother, Nick(the Saint star in Mine to Keep) are the computer nerds of the operation and the frustration with the non-tech family members are front and center of the humorous scenes of the story. Won't lie, there are not many comedic moments but these family funnies help balance the darkness and left a calming effect on me. I really love how he relies on Dr.Aziza when it comes to making sure Phoenix is protected and the best ways to approach certain factors. This is not something you often see in stories about revenge and physical protection, generally those who are doing the protecting are all about the do-now-think-later but not the Saint brothers, they get the importance of the survivor's mental health(I said "survivor", I don't like "victim"). Again, don't get me wrong, they are all about the doing but not without the thinking, for the most part😉.
Put these men together and you have a very powerful and rewarding love story that rounds out this psychological suspense thriller, creating a whole package of entertainment. What's Left of Me is oh so disturbingly yummy.
One last thing, for those wondering about reading order, I highly recommend reading Saint Brothers in order of release. Yes, each book is about a new brother and a separate crime but because the past entry's relationships play a huge found family part of each new story, everything just falls into place more realistically when read chronologically.
What’s Left of Me is a deeply emotional, dark romance full of pain, healing, and the quiet, powerful strength of love. Even though it's part of the Saint Brothers series, it absolutely stands on its own—but honestly, reading the whole series will give you a richer experience with these complex, beautifully damaged characters.
This is Noel and Phoenix’s story. Noel—loyal, thoughtful, and steady—is one of the Saint Brothers, a team that only takes on missions they all agree on. Phoenix is a dancer, newly rescued from three months of horrific captivity at the hands of the Broken Doll Killer. He’s fragile, terrified, and convinced he isn’t worth saving. But when his sister asks the Saint Brothers for help, they say yes.
From the very start, Noel becomes Phoenix’s safe space. He doesn’t push, doesn’t pressure, just shows up with quiet patience, offering Phoenix exactly what he needs—even when Phoenix himself can’t find the words. The chemistry between them builds slowly and tenderly, layered with trust, comfort, and shared vulnerability. It’s heartbreakingly beautiful.
This book doesn’t shy away from the darkness Phoenix endured, but it also doesn’t let that darkness win. The balance of hurt/comfort is handled so well, and the mental health rep is thoughtful and respectful. I loved seeing how the Saint Brothers rallied around Phoenix—not just as protectors, but as a found family that truly embraced him.
The suspense thread had me glued to the pages. Twists, tension, emotional gut-punches—it’s all here. And when Phoenix finally faces his past and takes back his power? I felt that in my bones. His name couldn't be more fitting.
Also? Shoutout to Noel for being a truly green flag protector. He listens, he respects boundaries, he’s emotionally aware… and he absolutely deserves Phoenix’s love.
What to expect: - MM dark romance - Trauma recovery & emotional healing - Found family - Slow burn - Protective but gentle MC - Strangers to lovers - Mental health & PTSD rep - Suspense and mystery - Tenderness woven through darkness
Davidson King has a gift for creating intense stories that are also full of hope, family, and second chances. This one was raw, gripping, and unforgettable.
Now… bring on Angel’s book. I need it.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book 4 in The Saint Brothers series. This is a fairly new to me author and I absolutely loved this book. It is very well written and easy to read. Even though it deals with difficult issues, the author uses a deft hand and makes it enjoyable none the less. I believe this could be a standalone read but you would really get so much more out of it if you read the series in order. This is the story of Noel and Phoenix. Noel is one of the Saint Brothers and a twin. His team all work to protect and help those that feel helpless. Everyone has to agree to a task before they will take it. Phoenix is a dancer and he was kidnapped three months earlier. He has suffered physical and mental abuse from his kidnapper the Broken Doll Killer. He was miraculously rescued by hikers who found the shack where he was kept. But Phoenix knows that it is not over. His sister begs the Saint brothers to protect him while the police search for the killer. At first Phoenix avoids all noise and human interaction. His psyche has been severely damaged by his kidnapper. But what surprises him is the sense of calm or peace whenever he is near Noel. Slowly they begin to know each other. I loved how thoughtful Noel and all the brothers were of what Phoenix needed, whether he said it or not. They were 100% supportive. Phoenix couldn't understand why they would go to so much trouble to protect him. He has been brainwashed to believe he is not worth the effort. Good thing Noel is there to slowly reinforce how important Phoenix is to him and the others. This is their story. I enjoyed the mystery that ran throughout the book. I loved Phoenix and Noel as a couple. I received a complementary advanced review copy of this book from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review. The author has a talent for bringing the character to life. I really loved this book. It is an amazing story. I can't wait to read Angel's story next.

Sweet Baby Jesus…!!! This story is gut wrenching and heartbreaking. Davidson King has once again given us a book with fan-fucking-tastic story line and amazingly complex characters. The sadness and anger I left when I read what Phoenix went through is indescribable. The mental trauma he endured is not suitable for the faint of heart. Phoenix was robbed of his confidence, innocence, his light, mental health and self esteem and self worth. So when Phoenix’s sister asks for help, Saint brothers stepped in. It was truly heartwarming how everyone went above and beyond to accommodate and support Phoenix during his strenuous journey of recovery. Amongst everyone, Noel quickly became Phoenix’s safe place and provided peace and calm to Phoenix. Noel was able to connect with Phoenix at deeper level when Noel shared his personal traumatic past with Phoenix. Noel never pushed Phoenix for anything, gave Phoenix time to process difficult information, listening to Phoenix without any judgment and provided him companionship in whichever way Phoenix wanted. With everyone’s support especially Noel, Phoenix slowly started to heal. Phoenix was able to face the monster who stole everything from him in the end and got the closure that helped him move on. Phoenix’s character and his story certainly embody the significance of his name at the end. This book had nail-biting suspense and revelations that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Along with the suspense and revelations, this book is also full of sweet and kind moments, teasing and bantering between family members and heartbreaking conversations. I throughly enjoyed reading this book and will recommend it to all you dark romance lovers out there.
Phoenix was kidnapped by a serial killer and kept for three months. The person brain washed him by tearing him down from looks to how he danced from past videos seen. He gets rescued thankfully before he can end up like others have. His sister goes to someone for help to protect him so he's not taken again.
Noel heard the story about what happened to Phoenix and wants to help before he even sees him. Lizzy asks them and let was unanimous with the vote. Noel gets Aziza in on helping too because he doesn't want Phoenix suffering more and with what knows about it can tell his mental health is in need of her wonders.
I loved this so much 5 stars aren't enough infinite number wouldn't even work because its that wonderful. The romance isn't dark its sweet and loving. Noel and Phoenix drawn to each other and Noel making him feel safe. The cops and FBI aren't doing that great job so the brothers and their family take over more than the protecting part as well. There so many moments that had me laughing out loud in this. I love that about this series. Even in all the dark topics there are light hearted moments that make you laugh so hard I actually snorted.
How they took the culprit down was awesome. What Phoenix and Noel both did was excellent. I wanted to hug Four because of something that happened. I was wrong about who was behind it. Because of book one I thought one person, but was so wrong thankfully, but their attitude had me thinking they were somehow in on it.
Another excellent job and wanted to hug Angel as well because something happened with passed character. One book left but I don't want this series to end its been one best series I have read and made me realize how much I love this kind of family and relationships were they are wholesome but never dark but the plot is dark. Check trigger warnings.
What’s Left of Me Saint Brothers, Book 4 By Davidson King
Oh my gosh!! Davidson King knows how to write a scary suspenseful romantic story. I loved every single bit of What’s Left of Me.
I loved more than anything this family of Saint brothers, loved ones, and friends. They have completely adopted Four and he is truly one of them. His little romance with Lizzy? It just gives me sweet romance vibes. But this book isn’t about Four and that to me is a reason that Davidson King’s writing is so good. She weaves her characters and their lives so seamlessly into the larger story. They stand out, each character becomes someone I look for to see what’s happening for them.
Phoenix and Noel’s story itself is pure love with a major protection storyline. I really liked how Aziza explained about their connection, because it is something that shines in this story. Noel helps heal Phoenix in a way that no one can, because of their connection. The relationship of the brothers and their significant others really beings this series together for me. And let’s not leave out Aziza, she has been a staple in the books and her female character is strong and smart. She is a great foil for each brother as they walk through their individual journeys. It makes me wonder what will come next? They may be safe from the FBI, but will some type of drama come from Agent Carmichael or the biker gang? My biggest hope is that somehow Angel and Two come back together or Angel finds someone that needs him. There has to be a book five right?
I want to start by stating how much I LOVED the way this book started, it felt as though I got transported into a news broadcast that was happening in real time. The writing is truly impeccable, it's so detailed and has such an amazing flow to it. I was as horrified as the characters were when more details of what the killer did to his victims came to light, but also I loved getting to learn more of those intricate details while reading. It made what was going on much more reliable and lended a way to truly escape into this world with the Saint Brothers and the extended family.
I've enjoyed every book in this series, and while I think Shep's will always be my favorite, Noel and Phoenix are a close second. I just really enjoyed reading about them, the way they tried to figure each other out while still giving one another space. Noel was so gentle and caring (and protective) towards Phoenix and once they established a deeper romantic connection those feelings just grew strong. It was really adorable seeing him being so sweet and respectful towards Phoenix, I loved how their relationship developed, it was just done so well!!
I am a sucker for found family featuring in books and it's such a massive part of not only this book, but it's a big part of this series as a whole. All these people were brought together under awful circumstances but through that they gained a family that is theirs and will have their back no matter what, and that is such a beautiful thing.
Phoenix comes into Noel’s orbit after a terrifying and harrowing experience that shattered his mental health and drastically altered the way he perceived himself. With professional assistance and the patience and kindness of not only Noel but the entire Saint family Phoenix begins to feel safe even though the villain is still out there. Said villain is extremely villainous and is determined to get Phoenix back. It becomes a race against time as more victims appear but the Saint brothers are up to the challenge. My heat broke for Phoenix and what he’d been through but there was absolute admiration for the way he slowly but surely managed to breakthrough the trauma and find himself again. Noel stood by him every step of the way and during the process the relationship between them became more intimate with a beautiful balance of sweet and steamy. At times I couldn’t help but giggle at some of the antics/banter of the established couples and it was wonderful to visit with them all again. Each person played their part to once again find justice for another in need of their particular services. This author had me caught from the start of the prologue to the end of the epilogue and every page in between.
“……from that horror had come something wonderful. I gained a big, crazy, beautiful family, and I’d spend my whole life embracing what I had and what was to come.”
Review for (Saint Brothers-4) What's Left of Me by Davidson King Phoenix had a good life before the night he was taken by a monster called Adonis. Unbeknownst to Phoenix Adonis, the Doll Maker, was named in the news as the killer who has taken several men and women and killed them and made them look like dolls. The days became months before Phoenix was found in a shed and rescued. Hazel, his sister, was scared, but she knew the Saint brothers would help her protect her brother from this monster that they knew Adonis wouldn't let go. He's his doll. Noel has had a lot happen in his life, but now he is part of a group that protects the people from bad people by taking it into their own hands. When Noel meets Phoenix for the first time, he can see the pain in his eyes. All Noel wants to do is protect him and see him smile. Will they be able to protect Phoenix, or will the doctor get his doll back?
Davidson King is an auto-buy for me if I can afford it. I love her style of writing her morally grey men. I fell in love with this book from the first page. I couldn't put it down, but as I came to the end, I was sad to see it was over, lol. I look forward to what is next for Davidson King.
What's Left of Me is book 4 in the series, and you need to read them in order for maximum enjoyment.
The Broken Doll Killer has been kidnapping people left and right for months, and until Phoenix is rescued, no one has a clue who it might be. The Saint Brothers are hired to protect him by Phoenix's sister. But Phoenix needs more than just protection, he needs help to heal from the deep emotional and psychological wounds that the killer inflicted. Noel is more than up for the task, though.
I loved Noel and Phoenix. As always, Ms. King excels at giving us a sweet love story, based on a deep connection, chemistry, and above all, trust. I just adored the progression of their relationship.
The interactions between the brothers and their significant others are high points in this series, and this book wasn't the exception.
I really enjoyed this book, and having the Saint Brothers pursue and try to identify the killer, always being a few paces ahead of the police/FBI. It had a great balance between action and romance, and it kept my interest throughout. Highly recommendable!
*** Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie for my reading pleasure, a review wasn't a requirement. ***
I love this series and the family that does whatever it takes to protect those in need.
I hurt a little for Noel in the last book when his twin found love. They were so close, and suddenly Nick had someone else to share his attention with.
Noel is sweet and funny. And tenacious. He’s also fiercely loyal and protective. In short, the perfect person for Phoenix. Calming and safe.
Phoenix has escaped a horrendous serial killer. One who is unravelling over his loss.
The once vibrant man has been broken, and geez, it’s heartbreaking. But he and Noel are so good together. I love how Noel helps him find his strength again.
Of course, the whole tight-knit family are incredible and a joy to be around. And I love watching the other characters develop and grow throughout the stories.
If the chips are down, I want these guys on my side.
This is an opposites attract mystery/suspense dark romance, featuring Phoenix and Noel, and is book four in the Saint Brothers series.
After being kidnapped by a serial killer, Phoenix is rescued and placed under the protection of the Saint brothers, where he feels safe for the first time—especially with Noel, the quiet tech genius. As the killer comes after him again, Noel is willing to risk everything to keep Phoenix safe and help him heal.
This story hooked me right from the start. There’s something so compelling about a good suspense/mystery, and this one delivered—not just with the search for a serial killer, but also through Phoenix’s emotional journey as he faced the ongoing danger.
I’ve really enjoyed this series, I jumped onto this one the day it came out as I needed to know what these Saint brothers were up to next.
Things to expect in this book are: Book 4 in series MM dark romance Check CW Mystery / Suspense Opposites attract Bodyguard Hurt / Comfort Trauma recovery Serial killer threat Forced proximity Insta-connection Bit of spice Touch him and 💀 Found family HEA
I can’t decide which of the twin’s books I loved more. I guess I love them equally! Noel and Phoenix’s story was so sweet. Noel was really there emotionally for Phoenix during the worst time in his life. This book highlights how damaging negativity can be to people, and how building them up can be everything to someone. The villain in this story is psychologically terrifying in how they treat their victims. I use the word terrifying because I think everyone can relate in some way to how their methods can destroy a person. Yet, Davidson King was still able to give us a book full of love. Love from found family, and this book also has actual family that gives unconditional love and support. It’s beautiful to read. The suspense is strong in the story and there was a lot I didn’t see coming. I love it when I don’t have everything figured out in the first couple of chapters. And the brothers? Where can I get a Saint brother of my own?! The book didn’t end on a cliffhanger, but it did give me some ideas of what Angel is going to deal with in his book. I’m looking forward to seeing if I’m right, and will be just as pleased if I’m not because that’s how good a writer Davidson King is!
Noel Saint and his brothers (and extended family) protect people. That their protection usually involves blood and death is just another day in the Saint family. Their latest rescue involves Phoenix. He had been held captive and psychologically tortured by a man who displays his victims in a grotesque way. Phoenix knows the man will come for him but for now he’ll accept the Saints protection.
The author has taken a grisly subject and made it seem (commonplace, acceptable?,) normal. This author is just that good. The writing is well done enough that even though the subject matter is gruesome, there is still space for lightheartedness. Nix and Noel’s relationship was sweet, hot, and remarkably angst free (except for the serial killer aspect).
Ostensibly this book belongs to Noel and Nix, however I think it’s a definitive statement about the Saint brothers (and assorted significant others). Family is all. Don’t mess with the Saint family.
For me this book is the best in the series.
Review Copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMGReads.
Phoenix was kidnapped by serial killer and only escapes when his holding place is accidentally discovered. Noel and his brothers are asked to protect him, in case the killer tries to get him back. As Phoenix starts to heal, he gravitates closer to Noel, who is developing his own feelings and what’s to protect Phoenix no matter what. But with the killer still out there and the police and FBI proving next to useless, will the Saint Brothers be able to hunt him down before it’s too late or is Phoenix only destiny to be one of his victims?
This was soooo good!! I enjoyed every second! Phoenix was so broken and watching that journey of him putting himself back together was unreal. And seeing how he only connected to Noel! Urgh I can’t even! I haven’t read the rest of the series and didn’t really need to because it was easy to follow but I will circle back because I’m invested now!!
This is an ARC review and all opinions are my own. Thank you to Literally Yours PR for the ARC copy of this book and for the opportunity to read and review it
How can you not love a group of guys who may kind of be vigilantes, but run a bakery, have great senses of humor and, when they love, they love deeply. I know I couldn't resist them.
When a friends brother is lucky enough to escape from a killer, the Saint brothers are there to provide protection. The psycho that had Phoenix beat him down, messing with mind. When Phoenix shows up at their home he's withdrawn, fearful, unsure and overwhelmed by the men who have agreed help him. But he's drawn to Noel from the start. For his part, Noel recognizes that Phoenix has latched on to him. He's determined to give Phoenix what he needs.
I loved the give and take between Phoenix and Noel. Noel seemed to know instinctively what Phoenix needed and was able to give it to him. I loved his sensitivity and his empathy. I also really liked watching Phoenix regain what the kidnapper had taken from him, coming back to himself. Full of warmth, caring and not a small amount of sarcasm, this was a great next book in the series.
What’s Left of Me is book 4 of the Saint Brothers Series. It can be read as a standalone but it’s recommended to read the first 3 to get to know the other couples in the book. Phoenix was a victim of a serial killer. he was rescued before anything worse happened to him. His sister asked the Saint Brothers for help in keeping him safe until the killer was found. Being 3 months with “Adonis” completely killed Phoenix’s self esteem and purpose. But thanks to Noel Saint his confidence and self esteem with his strength start coming back slowly. Noel just has a way of being his anchor and helping him feel safe. They form a connection and start to be together and Noel will do anything to keep him safe. The Saint Brothers have their ways to catch the bad guys and this killer will be no different. I was hooked right away. From the beginning it talks about the Broken Doll Killer and his victims and then how Phoenix survived. It’s really good and I really liked Noel’s protectiveness towards him.
What’s Left of Me by Davidson King is book 4 in the The Saint Brothers series. I have loved this series so much and Noel and Phoenix’s story was great. Phoenix was rescued from the Broken-Doll Killer by some hikers passing by a shed. His sister soon begs the Saint brothers to protect him while the police search for the killer. While there, Noel and Phoenix get closer. I loved how Noel gave Nix exactly what he needed. He never pushed too far and was willing to put his own needs aside. They were so cute and good for each other. The mystery takes up most of the story and it was a good one. I loved the thought process behind everything. I hope that in the future we get to see Angel’s story. I think he is the last one and he deserves someone to love as well. It was great seeing all of the other couples happy and loved up.
I received an ARC from the author for my honest review>
After surviving three harrowing months in the clutches of a serial killer, Phoenix Briar is rescued—but not free. The killer still wants him, and the official channels can’t offer true safety. Enter the Saint brothers, a group of dangerously skilled men who take him in. Among them is Noel, a jaded tech genius who’s always avoided attachments… until Phoenix. As the killer draws closer, Phoenix and Noel’s bond deepens into something neither saw coming—fragile, fierce, and worth everything. But with time running out, protecting Phoenix might demand more than either is ready to lose.
I loved this story which was raw, intimate, and fiercely protective—a story where survival is just the beginning. There were a lot of emotions, feelings and tenderness. I loved the relationship between Phoenix and Noel who gave the right balance of tenderness and protectineness. Easy to read, feel and understand. This was an MM story with mature content.
Ok, the saint brothers are back! I have to say that I actually loved how the beginning of the book started. It felt like I was transported to a news broadcast and I was immediately sucked in. I adored Phoenix and Noel with my whole heart. Sometimes you just meet someone and you automatically feel safe in their presence. This is what it felt like for Phoenix. After enduring horrors that no one should face, he found peace in Noel’s arms. Once again the found family in this book is top tier. I mean who wouldn’t want a family full of unalivers who did a better job than the FBI?! The spice in this book was beautifully done! If you love found family, spice, taking down the bad guys, and a story that keeps you on your toes then this book is definitely for you!
“You’ve been the light for me since I was rescued, and I’m terrified he’ll find a way to shatter you too.”
What's Left of Me is book #4 in the Saint Brothers series by Davidson King. I have love each story in this amazing series and can't wait for more! Full of plot twists, mysteries, family, love, humor and so much more it was easy to get lost in Phoenix and Noel's love story. Phoenix has been through something so unimaginable that it is a wonder he is able to put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward in life. With the help of the Saint brothers and his amazing sister he gets all the support he needs. Noel becomes so invested in the protection and care of Phoenix. These two have such an amazing connection and a love that grows so strong it will carry them through the toughest of times. I was captured from the first page and didn't stop reading until the very last page.....please let there be more in this amazing series!
Well, let’s say it… these Saint brothers either have the worst or the best luck in love. I mean, they are all finding love one after the other, bit the men they love tend to be stalked, kidnapped or any other kind of dangerous stuff. Good thing the Saints are so good at what they do, which is keeping them safe and loving them with everything they have. This book starts out with Phoenix having been rescued from a psycho serial killer; he’s physically ok, but he’s mentally broken, plus, he’s in danger because his captor wants him back. Him and Noel have an immediate connection, and what starts out as a matter of safety, soon evolves into more. Of course this wouldn’t be a Davidson King’s book if there wasn’t a truckload of action and plot-twists topped off with steamy scenes and so many feelings.
The Saint brothers do what they do best; save and protect. Four’s girlfriend Lizzy asked the brothers to listen to a story from her friend Hazel. When Hazel tells them how her brother Phoenix was kidnapped and then was able to escape, she asked if they could help keep her brother safe. Put to a vote, the brothers agreed and both Phoenix and Hazel came to live with them. Noel, being the tech genius along with his twin Nick, started searching through the web for any details they could find. With such a high profile case, the FBI and police were involved. The brothers race against time to find out who the culprit is as more people are being kidnapped and killed. I love how Noel was there for Phoenix as he slowly started to improve and starting to get closer. I love this world and cannot wait for Angel’s book.
We’re back with the Saints for book four, featuring one of the twins, Noel, and a new protectee who comes into the brothers’ world in very dramatic - and harrowing - circumstances. Yes, it's safe to say Phoenix comes bearing a lot of emotional baggage and with some hefty psychological wounds that need healing.
As a couple, I adore these guys. Phoenix is going through a painful process of rediscovering himself, but throughout he feels the natural connection with Noel and is brave enough to explore it. Whilst the Saint brother is the perfect blend of sweet, understanding, patient and murderously protective.
Of course the plot that provides the backdrop to Nix and Noel’s budding romance is the serial killer investigation, so the subject matter is fairly gritty, but the focus is very much on the relationship so it never strays into too dark territory. And there's a good dose of humour with the banter between the other brothers and their boos. As said, this is book four, and whilst it can be a standalone read all that banter really works so much better if you know the characters from their own books. And this series seriously does keep getting better and better…love it!
