Chien just got off the bus at the end of a long week and is looking to reward himself with one of his favorite Taiwanese night market treats. Unfortunately, he discovers that there are things lurking in the dark alleys just outside the street market thoroughfare, just outside the edge of perception.
Brian Q. Webb is a struggling science fiction wordsmith. He was born and raised in the greater Los Angeles area but has made his home for the last two decades in Taipei, Taiwan. His stories are heavily influenced by his favorite author, H.P. Lovecraft, his favorite T.V. series, the Twilight Zone, and local Taiwanese culture.
I really enjoyed this short-read. It was well written, interesting, and kept me intrigued from start to finish. I really recommend this for anyone who is looking for a short read on your lunch break at work, on the train, or whenever you feel like reading a good, short story. I must point out as well that I do love the cover art on this book, it’s stunning!
A truly unlikable character whether that was the point or not I do not know but it made it harder for me to enjoy the book. Aliens in two senses... give it ago if you like the gang style of writing you should enjoy.
