The message of the book is valuable and thoughtfully shared. It's a holistic approach to guiding women in their individual hormonal experiences. It focuses on paying close attention to the body's needs and signals, recognizing changes in patterns and using a variety of methods to go through menopause while being kind to oneself in the process.
There is good information presented about nutrition, supplementation, movement, biochemistry and spirituality. The recipes sound great and the chapter about vaginal health was well written. I did find the book to be helpful overall and plan to order the paperback for easy marking and notation.
The yoga and meditation sections were relaxing and performed in good voices. The audio is best for those.
However, there are several irritating things about the audiobook that distracted me from taking in some of the useful information. If these things generally frustrate you, too, then I recommend using the physical copy of this book for a reference guide. I had to speed up the audiobook to get through it without giving up on it completely and recommend a hardcopy for more reader control of speed and relevant content.
- The hippie fairy godmother delivery of the initial narration is annoying, too slow and sounds like a story before preschool naptime. - Everything is "profound" or "profoundly -." A version of this word is used over and over. In my opinion, utilizing a thesaurus would have profoundly improved the reading experience. - The content is circular and repetitive. The introduction especially is like a gold medal winner of the Rephrasing Olympics to amass the highest possible wordcount by stating the same thing on repeat, ad nauseum. It would be preferable to just say this is a holistic approach and give a quick overview of what to expect. The intro could be one page and that would suffice.
