Molly, abandoned by her parents at sixteen, survives living on the streets with the help of two older homeless women. They rescued her when no one else would and for that, they are her family. Despite her short comings, Molly is desperate to finish high school without it being known she has no home. The foster care system has already let down one of her friends and she refuses to become part of the system. She keeps her head down, her grades up, and is well on her way to making it for herself. That is, until Beckett Montgomery comes into the picture.

Beckett Montgomery lives alone in a house larger than any eighteen year old boy should have. His uncle shows up on occasion when he’s not traveling for business but his laid back demeanor means Beckett can do pretty much whatever he wants. He’s Orion High’s quintessential bad boy but what lies underneath is a shock to everyone, including Molly.

When the two are paired up to study together Beckett learns things about Molly’s life he never expected and Molly sees the real Beckett that no one else has ever had the chance to witness. Together, they go on an emotional journey through some of the best times and come to a point in their relationship where they are tested. Can they make it through one of the hardest times they will face or will they ultimately be too different and go their separate ways? Either way, they both will be changed forever.

I give this book a good solid 4 stars. I knew it would be a short story with a cliffy , of course that is torture but it is a good torture , makes you want more and you know you are going to be slammed with questions and wonder and what ifs. Having said that the only thing I did wish for was maybe a little bit more torture between Beckett and Molly before he swooped in for the rescue.

We get Molly's story and it is heartbreaking and horrible. This girl has survived a year without parents , money and a proper home to live in. Taken in my 2 homeless ladies Molly learns the ropes of being homeless herself. Through it all she is still going to school and striving to do her best to graduate and get away. Beckett is one of the popular kids at school , plays sports , good looking and not someone that would normally give Molly and second glance. When asked to tutor him you know this won't be a good thing. At first , well one time actually , Beckett has some choice words for Molly. She of course takes off offended but not surprised. She is a mess , dirty , smelly and homeless. Beckett may be popular but he isn't that kid , he hates what he said and immediately goes to Molly to apologize. This puts him in a position to save her from a horrible event and then has him offering her shelter and many other things !! beckett has lost his parents and there really is more to him than his friends ever see. He and Molly make a great pair , they both have so much more to offer than what you would think by looking at them on the outside.

I do enjoy Molly and Beckett together , don't get me wrong. I know it is meant to be a short story to start but I just felt the moment she is asked to tutor him til the moment he brings her home was a little too rushed. Once he gets her home I am loving their interactions and yes their INTERACTIONS !!!! I am invested in this story I have so many questions !! What the heck is wrong with her parents , will she really take off and be that mad about what Beckett did , can they be saved , how will they all end up.........NEED MORE NOW !!

I couldn't help but feel terrible for Molly from the get go. She's been dealt a pretty crappy hand in life at this point in time, and despite her age she's doing remarkably well with being able to handle everything and continue pursuing what she needs to in life. She's got more on her plate than most adults would be able to handle, yet still trekking along and succeeding where she can. She's doing so well, she's even been asked to help tutor another student, which is of course where the real nitty gritty of this story comes in.

Beckett seemed like such a jerk at first, but quickly you realize there's more layers to him than first thought. He's not just the snooty bad boy you expect him to be – he's actually got a heck of a heart on him. Even with differing circumstances, the things they have in common are ultimately what help them bond together.

This book is a quick read – quick, but good. My biggest complaint – which may end up being something positive down the road – damn that cliffhanger all to hell!! I'm impatient as heck, so cliffys always make me grumble a bit, but overall the rest of the story is a well-put together quick read and I'd recommend it. My only suggestion would be if you're not sure of cliffhangers and they drive you crazy and you want all your questions answered, you may want to wait until the next book is out and read them back to back.

Unexpected is one of the best books I’ve read this year. I was captivated from the very beginning to the end of the story. I never wanted to put it down and the ending left me begging the author for more from the characters.

Molly is such a strong young woman. I loved her instantly because life dealt her a bad hand and instead of giving up she kept going and never gave up hope no matter what happened to her next. My heart went out to her a lot throughout the book because of how many times she was let down. That is until she meets Beckett.

Beckett is without a doubt going to be everyone’s new book boyfriend after they read this wonderful book. He is such a caring, sweet and a bit of a dominant guy. I loved him as soon as he was introduced in the book and everything he does to protect and take care of Molly is so touching.

Molly and Beckett’s relationship is remarkable. I love their chemistry and that they are instantly connected and feel safer with one another. Their love is one that grows instantly and just keeps growing. Just prepare yourself for one heck of a steamy and sexy scene between the two and be prepared for the ending. I was left riveting and couldn’t believe how it ended. So looking forward to book two.

I give Unexpected Five out of Five Stars!!

This book started off in a promising manner. A traumatic event for Molly and her life on the streets, and how that affected her on a day to day basis at school was reasonably sensitively handled.

But then she meets Beckett – popular boy at school, cheerleaders hanging off his every word – very much in the “In” crowd. And I found that the story went off the boil a little bit for me at that stage.

Let me explain. I don’t mind getting lost in a story that might be a tad unrealistic. I don’t mind insta-love. On this occasion however, it appeared to me to be too much, too soon. I didn’t connect with Beckett and Molly’s relationship, and this impacted on my enjoyment of the book.

That said, given the ending, I would still be interested in reading the next instalment.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review

I enjoyed this book. Molly has had a tough time since her parents left her, but she is making the best of it. Then she is asked to tutor Beckett. Their relationship developed a bit too quickly for me, as well as Beckett being left on his own while still being in high school (He lives with his uncle, who is never there). The novella leaves us with many questions unanswered, and I look forward to finding the answers in the next book.
