I absolutely adored London's modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice when she wrote Definitely, Maybe In Love so there was no way I was going to pass up the chance to not only get another dose of her great writing but also to get another modern twist of my second most favorite Austen's tale, Persuasion.
I so was not wrong to pick this up, I loved it from the very beginning and how could I not love Spring and Henry's cameo! Yay!
Oliver and Rachel were perfect, everything I would picture in a very modern Fredrick and Anne (love that those were their middle names!). In fact, I am going to go so far as to say that I liked this even more than the P&P retelling. It is by far my favorite Persuasion retelling to date. I loved everything about it.
You could see the insecurities, the heart break, the longing, the love, the resentment, the jealousy. So many emotions so beautifully thought out and displayed.
I completely devoured this in one sitting. I just couldn't get enough. And even though I knew how it would end, I was still biting my nails in anxiety hoping like heck it was a happy one.

Persuasion never seems to get the amount of love P+P does and that's a shame because it's an amazing story. This modern retelling of sorts was absolute perfection.
Rachel was a good MC. Yeah, she's got some issues, but who doesn't. Love love love Oliver {surprise, surprise}. He's deliciously swoony and so adorable. Sarah was also an excellent character. She really came across as vibrant. I didn't care much for Meghan -- but she was a perfect representation for Louisa.
The only bad thing I have to say about this is that I'm super disappointed that we didn't get The Letter. It's such a pivotal point to the story. Other than that, I enjoyed every single word and will definitely be looking for more of Ophelia's future words.

Rachel and Oliver had a secret relationship freshman year of college. Oliver didn't fit into her 10 year plan so she ends things between them. Fast forward 6 years when she moves back to San Francisco and gets to meet her best friends new boyfriend. This was a really sweet second chance romance. I loved Oliver - he was such a sweetheart. I really liked the dynamics with all the friends. There were a few small things that I didn't like about this book but I can't leave that in the review because it is a spoiler but overall, I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a sweet, romantic story.

My thoughts: After falling in love with London's Pride and Prejudice adaptation, Definitely Maybe in Love , the moment that I heard she has another Austen adaptation coming out, I signed up! I'm hesitant to say that I enjoyed this more than Definitely Maybe, because I loved it so much, but it's close! This is the second in the "series" but it can definitely be read as a "standalone" novel.
Maybe it's because I'm not as familiar with Jane Austen's Persuasion (the Austen book that Someday Maybe is based on) as I am with Pride and Prejudice, but I was kept "guessing" more with Someday Maybe. I liked that I wasn't really sure where the story would end up (with most romances, you pretty much know how it's going to end-- with a happily ever after!) and I liked that.
I liked that Someday Maybe felt like a more "grown up" than Definitely Maybe-- but that's probably because Rachel, the main character in Someday Maybe was older and already a "career" woman, whereas Spring (from Definitely Maybe) was still in grad school. I liked that this allowed for more emotionally mature relationships. I liked seeing the dynamics between Rachel and her friends, as well as Rachel and Oliver. It was also nice to see the relationship between Rachel and her brother -- as well as Oliver and his sister... it gave more dimension to the characters to see how they reacted with their family.
There were only 2 things I didn't really love about Someday Maybe :

Rachel Daughtry has had a fear of the unknown since she was a young girl. This is why she makes her ten year plan that she refuses to stray from. Her future is too important to get distracted by boys and parties in college. But When Oliver Wentworth walks into her life all bets are off. Rachel finds herself falling hard and fast for Oliver and his easy going charming ways. For eight months they spend every possible minute together keeping their relationship quiet as per Rachel’s request. But then her own drastically slipping grades and Oliver’s lack of direction for the future overwhelms Rachel. She decides to end things with Oliver without so much as giving him a genuine answer as to why.
“Was I really willing to trade the future I’d been planning for years to be with the boy I loved right now?”
Six years later Rachel is back in San Francisco. She is happy to be starting a new job and reconnecting with her friends. She gets a reality check when her new job appears to be harder than expected. But that’s just the beginning of her problems. When her best friend Meghan starts yapping about a new guy she is head over heels for, Rachel is generally happy for her. That is, until she runs into them and comes face to face with Oliver. Meghan is dating Oliver. Her Oliver. And she has no idea that Rachel even knows him never the less dated him for 8 months. Meghan knows him by a different name, and Rachel is afraid she will hurt her friend by revealing their past.
“For a moment, it felt like time froze and whizzed us back six years. I was standing before the Oliver I knew, the one I was in love with.”
Facing him again brings back memories and regrets Rachel isn’t ready to deal with. She never got over Oliver and now her best friend is mooning all over him. What makes things worse is every time they catch each other’s gaze she holds out hope that maybe he feels the same way. But then reality sits in that Oliver is over her and dating Meghan. Not telling her best friend about their history makes things painfully awkward when she wants her to spend time with both of them. They go on a 6 day trip with some of Oliver’s friends. It’s there she meets someone that makes her think that she could get over her first love. Although there is a decent chance that Rachel could have a relationship with a decent guy she is still conflicted over her feelings for Oliver.
Rachel starts to get the notion that maybe Oliver doesn’t hate her after all. Actually the more they spend time together the more she catches his lingering glances and heated stares.
“I haven’t forgotten.”
“Neither have I.”
Old habits die hard. Rachel is still worried about her future and Oliver’s lack of concern for stability. It makes her nervous so she distances herself from him trying to put the past behind her once and for all. But chance meetings and unresolved feelings make it difficult. Oliver is still angry over the way she ended their relationship.
“Did you assume I didn’t remember? That I don’t think about that day every time I look at you?”
Rachel lost Oliver due to her fears for the future. But she is miserable at her job and without Oliver. When something happens to put things in perspective she knows she needs to get past her fears to live in the now and get a second chance at love.
“You were my first love, Oliver, my first everything.”
Someday Maybe is a modern day take on Persuasion by Jane Austen. A second chance love story about Rachel who let her fears of uncertainty push her true love away. I will say off the bat that I completely despised Meghan. This made it difficult to see where Rachel was coming from as far as protecting her feelings and I was completely puzzled as to why Oliver would have spent one minute with her in the first place. Also there was no real explanation as to what actually transpired between Meghan and Oliver. I feel that was just a tad bit unresolved. That being said I genuinely enjoyed the story. The rest of the secondary characters were really likeable and relatable.
The book was told in both real time and Flashbacks from Rachel and Oliver’s past. The flashbacks are where you will really swoon over Oliver. He’s charming and completely in love with Rachel, but she is just too scared to let go of the control she feels she needs to hold on to. She loved him whole heartedly but still ended their relationship and at the time she thought she was doing the right thing. I think it’s relatable. A lot of young people don’t expect to meet their soul mate as a freshman in college.
I really enjoyed this novel and it’s the first book I have read by Ophelia London. I read Someday Maybe as a standalone, even though it is the second book in the Definitely Maybe series. The first book Definitely, Maybe in Love is based on Austen’s Pride and Prejudice which is my favorite book of all time. I will definitely be reading that next!

This reunited lovers romance is the story of Rachel and Oliver. Secretly involved in college, Oliver doesn't fit into Rachel's 10 year plan and when she breaks things off with him, it seems like the right thing to do to get things back on track. Only, she hasn't gotten over him, and when she returns to her home town, Oliver is there, now dating her best friend who never knew of their relationship before. Suddenly Rachel has to choose between letting Oliver go completely or admitting that she's never gotten over him.
I confess that once I started this story I could not put it down! I loved the way the present day was combined at the beginning with flashbacks of the past - showing the evolution of Oliver and Rachel's romance in college and how it all fell apart, and their reemergence into the same social circles now, with no-one the wiser about their secret relationship. They obviously still have feelings for each other though Oliver is hurt and disillusioned that Rachel never really explained why she kept him a secret and the reason that she broke things off with him. I liked both characters - Rachel with her plans never quite working out right and Oliver seemingly without plans when really he is a thoughtful and considerate person. It's Rachel who must change the most in this story, realizing that Oliver isn't the person she thought he was. There is still an intense sexual attraction between them that they can't keep hidden and it's obvious to those around them. Denying it exists doesn't seem to help and the buildup to them confessing their real feelings for each other is slow and satisfying.
Overall I found this to be a well written and entertaining story, combining sexual tension, humor, real and flawed characters, and an engaging second chance at love story. 5 stars!

Someday Maybe was a super special kind of second chance love story. I really liked it! It was the kind of romance that warms the heart and pulls at those very tender heart strings.
Oliver and Rachel were a dream couple to read about. From the start, they had a wonderful chemistry that showed the zing factor that true loves tend to have. The way they met, their first kiss, the reunion, the Sarah connection, the charity race, the Chinese restaurant scene, the apartment scenes with the art and the guitar, the hospital scene, and the storm meeting were definitely some of my favorites. I could just sigh with the beauty of each one of those moments.
The whole Oliver and Rachel dating the best friends angle was somewhat awkward to me. It wasn't okay or cool, in my opinion. It just seemed peculiar and out of place. (Perhaps because it happened three times.) Still, I loved the interesting group of friends.
Funniest inclusion: Bruce the Moran (Hahahahahahaha...)
Best AHA: the Jane Austen connection
Weirdest: the dream play (still, it worked)
This book was so good that the minute I started reading it, I realized that I would have to immediately finish just it to see the outcome. I was glued to the pages. Don't even ask me how long it took to finish it because you would not believe me if I told you.

This is a really great story with tons of twists and turns. The pace of the story was a bit slow but the writing was great and the characters were fantastic. I loved Oliver from the start, Rachel took a while to grow on me with her insecurities and expectations. The secondary characters where hilarious and the humor made the book for me. This is one I highly recommend.

Thought I would try a fluffy Persuasion retelling for my pandemic relaxation read. Alas, this is just a mediocre second chance romance for the New Adult crowd with a few trappings of Persuasion's main plot points. Rejecting your true love because your family convinces you is not the same at all as agreeing with your smart big brother that your aimless surfer boyfriend who you skip class to make out with is a bad influence on you and that you should break up with him before you fail out of college. Sheesh! Anne Elliot is physically less attractive but has a beautiful soul. This heroine, Rachel, is apparently hot but has an unattractive personality. Not sure if that was on purpose. Minor characters are mostly cardboard. Other than a few minor fun references to the novel (the spazzy sister, the wild friend falling and hitting her head), this was not worth the time spent reading it, except it kept me from reading more pandemic news stories last night. The quest for a decent Persuasion modernization continues.

After having read and enjoyed London's Definitely Maybe, which is a Pride and Prejudice retelling, I knew I had to read Someday Maybe! I haven't yet read Jane Austen's Persuasion, so I wasn't able to compare the two, but I am all about second chance romances! London has such a fun, cute writing style so her books are not only easy to read, but they are pretty fast paced as well. I did feel this one went a little TOO fast. Some of the transitioning seemed a bit abrupt and at times I felt we were told instead of shown important details. That was my biggest issue with this novel. I loved the characters, the romance, and the story itself.
For the beginning of the novel, we flip back and forth between Rachel in the past and the present. We first meet her as a freshman in college, getting ready to begin her ten year plan so that she has a stable, successful future to look forward to. Her overprotective brother, Roger, is well known at USF and feels it is his job to make sure she stays on track and doesn't lose focus. Rachel decides to have one last night before classes begin to sow her wild oats before she really buckles down and blocks out all other distractions. Of course, it is that night she meets Oliver Wentworth. Oliver is the exact kind of distraction that Rachel doesn't need in her life, yet she can't seem to give him up either, thus starting a secret relationship with him. This obviously bothers Oliver, because let's face it: no one wants to be the dirty little secret in a relationship. Unfortunately Rachel doesn't do a very good job at balancing her time with Oliver and staying on top of her studies, and she starts to slip.
I like that London transitioned back and forth, slowly unraveling their relationship and then their eventual demise. I felt it really made the novel more effective, because you can really see how happy she was with Oliver and now she's alone starting a new job that is proving to be quite the challenge. Having not completely gotten over Oliver, it comes as quite the shock to discover that he is now dating one of her best friends. No one, save for Roger, knows about Oliver and Rachel's relationship freshman year so things are definitely a bit awkward and strained between them. It's not easy pretending they were never in love, especially since it's clear there's still something between them.
The flashbacks were what really made me fall for Oliver. Had we not seen him and Rachel together previously, I don't think I would have him enjoyed him as much. I was a bit irritated with him for dating Rachel's friend Meghan as long as he did, especially knowing Rachel was back in town and that he wasn't completely over her. Towards the end of the novel, we did get to see that sweet, caring side of him that I originally fell for.
I wasn't crazy about the dream aspect of the story, either. It felt a bit off for me, even though London does do a good job of having it tie in with the major events in the novel.
Even though this can be read as a stand alone, Spring and Henry from Definitely Maybe make a brief appearance and I was thrilled to see the two as adorable together as ever! I also really enjoyed Oliver's sister Sarah, so I wouldn't mind her getting her own story in the future!
If you're a fan of second chance romances and just a cute love story in general, definitely pick this one up.

After having read and enjoyed London's Definitely Maybe, which is a Pride and Prejudice retelling, I knew I had to read Someday Maybe! I haven't yet read Jane Austen's Persuasion, so I wasn't able to compare the two, but I am all about second chance romances! London has such a fun, cute writing style so her books are not only easy to read, but they are pretty fast paced as well. I did feel this one went a little TOO fast. Some of the transitioning seemed a bit abrupt and at times I felt we were told instead of shown important details. That was my biggest issue with this novel. I loved the characters, the romance, and the story itself.
For the beginning of the novel, we flip back and forth between Rachel in the past and the present. We first meet her as a freshman in college, getting ready to begin her ten year plan so that she has a stable, successful future to look forward to. Her overprotective brother, Roger, is well known at USF and feels it is his job to make sure she stays on track and doesn't lose focus. Rachel decides to have one last night before classes begin to sow her wild oats before she really buckles down and blocks out all other distractions. Of course, it is that night she meets Oliver Wentworth. Oliver is the exact kind of distraction that Rachel doesn't need in her life, yet she can't seem to give him up either, thus starting a secret relationship with him. This obviously bothers Oliver, because let's face it: no one wants to be the dirty little secret in a relationship. Unfortunately Rachel doesn't do a very good job at balancing her time with Oliver and staying on top of her studies, and she starts to slip.
I like that London transitioned back and forth, slowly unraveling their relationship and then their eventual demise. I felt it really made the novel more effective, because you can really see how happy she was with Oliver and now she's alone starting a new job that is proving to be quite the challenge. Having not completely gotten over Oliver, it comes as quite the shock to discover that he is now dating one of her best friends. No one, save for Roger, knows about Oliver and Rachel's relationship freshman year so things are definitely a bit awkward and strained between them. It's not easy pretending they were never in love, especially since it's clear there's still something between them.
The flashbacks were what really made me fall for Oliver. Had we not seen him and Rachel together previously, I don't think I would have him enjoyed him as much. Being a fan of Jane Austen I've been drawn to this series at each release. I enjoyed her take on Pride and Prejudice with the first book in this series Definitely Maybe in Love and so with Persuasion being one of my all time favorite Jane Austen novels Someday Maybe was a no-brainer for me. I'm a sucker for a good second chance romance story. If you line up all the different types of romance tropes out there and asked me to pick one each and every time I will grab for the ones where people get that second chance at love. Rachel and Oliver's story was like a beautiful form of torture. The "will they or won't they" drove me crazy in all the best ways.
The whole first chapter is their first meeting at the start of freshman year in college. It was so sweet and beautiful I wanted to read the entire chapter over and over. I mean boy meets girl in a crowded cafeteria and they sit there for hours talking and laughing and getting to know each other and before they know it the janitors are shutting off the lights and mopping the floors and they realize it's just them and...and...sigh. My heart is fluttering just remembering the whole scene. I was won over by the first chapter alone. It was the type of meeting that you would daydream about having.
The next chapter takes place six years later and for a while it goes back and forth like that. We'll read a chapter with future Rachel and then the next will slip back to the past where they're dating and for the most part happy. When we're in the present obviously we know that there is no Rachel and Oliver anymore. Then every time it goes back to the past we see the slow destruction of their relationship and it was heartbreaking and frustrating because it was completely avoidable. It made me not such a big fan of college years Rachel.
My heart had been so completely captivated with their first meeting that for a while there, probably up to about the halfway mark, the book got really rough for me. All the characters were frustrating me. All of them! Well except maybe Oliver's sister Sarah, she was very nearly my favorite. But I started to feel like a whiny kid wanting to stomp my feet and yell "They aren't doing what I want them to do!" Like I said it was a very sweet kind of torture. I loved Ophelia London's modern take of one of my favorite classics. Oh! Anddd...I loved that both Spring and Henry from Definitely Maybe in Love made quite funny appearances a couple times in this book. They don't run in the same circles of friends but the way they pop up in this story had me giggling. A lot. I hope that this series continues on with more spins on Jane Austen novels I'd love to see what she does with some of the others! If they'd be anything like this one was we'd be in for a real treat!

October 8, 2014So first off books like Someday, Maybe totally stress me out! Don’t worry it’s not a bad thing. I love Ophelia London’s writing and her way of investing me in the characters right away. So I’m stressed because I want things to work out for the characters right away. Of course that wouldn’t be much of a story.
Rachel is a very interesting character. It bothered me that she was letting her brother, Roger, have such an influence on her life. I have three older brothers and I can tell if any of them put their two cents in that way, I would give them a good punch in the stomach. (okay the truth is I just never told them anything otherwise they would be beating up boys left and right). Although as you read you start to see that it is more her than Roger and she really does grow and sees that. I did enjoy Rachel, even if at times she was frustrating or irrational. She has some control issues which are not the most uncommon thing. I like how Ophelia keeps some of that natural quality to Rachel as she did with Spring. Using the essential oils to aid in her headaches and stress.
I did not like Meghan and I felt bad about it because I thought I was disliking her for something that she didn’t know the full situation on. How could she know about Oliver if she was never told about Oliver, but it felt like even if she knew it wouldn’t matter. I don’t like girls who tell you to tone it down because they don’t want the guy they like to like you. What? How is that the right guy for you then. Her insecurities bothered me but I’ve also known people like Meghan. In the grand scheme of things Meghan is dramatic but she is not a bad friend. I like that she is Rachel’s go to for dream interpretation.
How could you not like Oliver or Ollie or Rad or whatever he goes by these days. Ha ha. He is super charming and super sweet. He, however, is not a hundred percent perfect. You could tell that he was still bitter at Rachel but not heartless toward her. I thought the way they ran circles around each other instead of actually confronting one another is pretty funny.
I actually have not read Jane Austin’s Persuasion and honestly I’m not sure why. Unless I have and forgotten it, I did look up the summary though so I definitely see how this is a modernized version of the story. Including the clever naming of Oliver. Like I said earlier this story stressed me a bit but I felt better when Nick entered the picture. Even Sarah for that matter. It gave it a little more balance.
I loved the pacing, the writing and the plot for this book. Rachel has her quirks but it’s also about how she learns that she can’t control everything. I thought the dream thing was interesting because I’m a big believer in intuition and such things. So I think if you are looking for a fun romance, definitely give this one a try.

I think most of us have had 'the one who got away' at one point or another in our lives. I have - still remember him occasionally - and so the synopsis of this book really appealed to me. Plus the cover was awesome. I was really excited to start this novel and I was extremely glad I did.
I was extremely worried about the fact Rachel meets Oliver again after so long while he is dating her best friend, but I was so ecstatic that Ophelia London handled that sooo well that I have no cause for complaint there. I also want to point out that unlike so many female protagonists in romances, Rachel was not perfect but her flaws were actually fairly understandable. The fact that she was scared of things had a reason and yet it wasn't beating us upside the head throughout the whole novel either.
I really liked and connected with Rachel, which made it a lot easier to love Oliver. He's not my usual type of guy I get hyped over in romances, but he was definitely perfectly characterized in this novel. There were quite a lot of hints behind both of their motivations to certain things - past and present - that didn't get explain right out and I loved that the author gave us that. I have been getting a little tired of having things shown one way in romance novels and then explained just plain outright when they didn't need to be. The chemistry between these two was amazing and tangible throughout the entire novel without being too in your face, so that you're left wondering what Oliver is thinking sometimes. Which is good. We women always wonder why guys think sometimes when we're dating them, or falling for them, so it helps us readers connect to Rachel a bit better. It was a nice touch, I thought.
For the record, I'm not a huge fan of Meghan. BUT that's just fine. It isn't anything big really, just her personality in the book. She wasn't a horrible person or anything, just didn't really like her. She made a good balance to Rachel as a friend though, so it works!
The dialog and writing were so well done, I honestly can't think of a place I was upset with them at all. The dialog is a big, huge, GIANT pet peeve of mine. And I was happy I didn't have to wince with something that came out of someone's mouth that sounds wrong or stilted. There weren't any words wasted over-explaining and that was nice. (Even if I myself have that personality flaw when I'm talking - I over-explain, especially tired. But I'm really smart so I don't need things over-explained when I read. Makes me impatient sometimes.)
Also, the story wasn't that involved, but it didn't need to be. It was simply a sweet second chance romance that leaves the reader feeling happy and satisfied afterwards. I seriously want to read more by this author. Amazing! 4.5 stars!

This is London's second book in the Definitely, Maybe series. You do not need to read the first book as this is a stand alone. Rachel was a planner due to the difficulties her family faced when she was younger. Nothing was going to stand in the way of her 10 year plan for success, not even Oliver, the young boy who stole her heart in her first year of college. Making some poor choices and not wanting anyone to know they were dating affected Rachel and even though she felt very strongly for Oliver, she breaks his heart and walks away from him.
The story fast forwards six years and Rachel finds herself back in California with her lifelong friends and at a new job, that even though it is not what she really wants to do, it offers her stability. She is blindsided when she discovers the new man in her friend's life, Rad, is none other than Oliver. Not only that but she is working with Oliver's sister. Despite her best efforts to stay away, the two keep coming back around each other. It seems both have some unresolved issues and have feelings for each other which need to be addressed.
This story was a tough one for me because even though I love second chance love stories, I just did not like Rachel. There wasn't one thing about her I really liked and as a result it was hard for me to root for her. Oliver was great as a college boyfriend but even he was a little annoying when he obviously had strong feelings for Rachel but was still seeing her friend, at least I think he was. The details of that relationship were glossed over and that was bothersome because I can't see how Rachel wouldn't have wanted to know more about what went on between her friend and Oliver.
Towards the end as we are getting to the resolution, the story did pick up the pace and I was anxious to see how things would work out but even the ending fell a little flat for me. As I loved the last book in this series, I was a little disappointed in this one but still look forward to reading more from London in the future.

I read Someday Maybe, by Ophelia London, because the premise appealed to me. I didn’t realize it was a modern take on Persuasion, by Jane Austen, until after I’d already finished it. It’s probably a good thing for me, because I didn’t spend the story comparing and contrasting Austen’s characters with London’s. For me, this was the perfect book at the perfect time, emotionally charged but not overly dramatic, strong character connections and tons of chemistry but absolutely believable circumstances and reasons for behaviour.
I really loved both Rachel and Oliver. I certainly didn’t understand Oliver as a character when Rachel first fell in love with him, but my God did he bring the swoons! And honestly, the swoons just kept on coming along with the mistakes haha. I truly adored watching them both grow and figure out their issues. If I had one complaint, it’s that it took too long. Not in a drawn out way, but I guess it left me wanting just a little bit more of their coupling at the end. And I would have liked to understand Oliver even more, beyond the bits that his sister conveyed, to really grasp what was going through his head when they first fell in love and the present.
I loved the sense of family that existed between Rachel, Sarah, Gio and Meghan. And I especially loved Sarah, Oliver’s sister. She was such a sweet soul and a great bridge between Rachel and Oliver, even when they didn’t want one. And good old Bruce the moron provided some creepiness and laughs.
I really loved this book, in case you couldn’t guess. If you’re a Jane Austen fan or love a strong contemporary romance, this one is for you. Also, you don’t have to read the first book in the series to read this one. It makes perfect sense as a standalone, even though some of the first book’s characters make an appearance.

Oliver and she meet at the cafeteria And all of a sudden they're inseparable. Well almost. See, she hides Oliver from her friends and her family. And until she notices her grades are slipping because she's spending so much time with him and not in class, she's blissfully unaware. That is until, Roger, her brother pulls her aside and points it out. Drastically and dramatically she ends things with Oliver so she can improve upon her 10 year plan.
Fast forward a few years and Rachel is starting a new job close to home and close to her friends. Still with no time for a man in her life she relishes listening to Meghan's (her bff) tales of her new boyfriend, Rad. She also made a new friend, Sarah, who wants to set her up with her brother. Well let me tell you this is where all the fun begins.
Rad, Meghan's boyfriend is also Ollie, Sarah's brother. Who is also the love Rachel left behind 6 years ago. As Joey Lawrence would say "WHOA"! What's a girl to do? If she tells Meghan she will lose her best friend. If she keeps it to herself she might lose out on the only love she's ever known. This was my first time reading Ophelia London and I must say I definitely enjoyed this book.
It centers around Rachel and Oliver, sole mate who found each other before they were meant too. I seriously loved the flashbacks of Rachel and Oliver their freshman year of college, they were probably my favorite part of the entire book, Oh and Bruce the Moron.
Years later the two run into each other when Oliver starts dating Rachel's best friend .. awkward. There's definitely some OMG awkward moments and so so many OMG hilarious moments to this story. A great tale of second love.
I really liked this story, I just felt a little disconnected at some points. Months pass where some pretty huge things take place and we leant about it a few months after the fact in a sentence or two. Like that should've been a scene since it was so instrumental in the main charters life. And then the really weird dream that fit into the story but didn't? It was a little strange ..
Overall a great book when you want to read something light and fun. Definitely a feel-good romance!

This is the first time I have read a book by Ophelia London. I liked her writing style. I was really looking forward to this book.
Now I don't think this book was bad or great I give it a 3.5 stars. I just felt the last 20% took way longe. I was hooked on this book as soon as I started. I ended up reading it straight Thur. I felt for Rachel. Wanting and not wanting someone for different reason. I also liked that secondary romance. I think it help the story, so in the end Rachel was more likable......at least to me.
So this is a book about a girl Rachel who in Collage at the age of 19 meet her soul mate, but he didn't fit into her "10 year plan". After handling the way he fit in her "10 year plan" badly ( by breaking up with him right after they talk about moving into together).....Skip 6 ahead six years. Rachel's friend (Megan) just meet a guy who she thinks "could be the one" But Megan guy "Rad" is Rachel's "soul mate" Oliver......Let the Drama and secrets begin.
I think Mrs. London did a good job with this book. I would like to hear more about Sarah (Oliver sister). I wonder if she going to have her own book.....maybe with Matt????

When I started Someday Maybe I was hoping it was going to be great like Definitely, Maybe in Love, but not the same. I wanted same fun story, but not a replica, and it wasn't at all! Oliver and Rachel's relationship was fantastic, heartbreaking, and a great reminder that true love knows no time. I admit, it was a little hard to read the flashbacks knowing, that at the beginning of the book, these two were not together. Ophelia did a great job at using those flashbacks to set the stage, and demonstrate how much in love these two were. Skipping to the present, the story follows Rachel so closely that you really understand her, see why she did what she did, and how her heart has suffered. All of this together just makes the end that much more special! Bonus for all of you that read Definitely, Maybe in Love, our favorite couple have a few "guest appearances" and those scenes are very memorable and will put a smile on your face. Steamy-ness is light with a little more detail than Ophelia's previous books, but still very clean and very romantic.

Oliver and Rachel had an eight month relationship during freshman year in college. How was she to balance an all-consuming relationship and an 18 credit semester? She couldn't and her grades started to decline. She couldn't risk losing her scholarship so she decided to break up with Oliver and gave him no real answer as to why she was breaking the heart of the boy she loved so much. Now, it's seven years later and they meet again but this time he's dating her best friend.
This was a nice, easy flowing romance that had me rooting for Oliver and Rachel but not really convinced that they were going to find their way into each other's arms. As soon as I thought "YES, they're finally going to get back together" something would happen to ruin the moment. The dreams were a nice touch. Trying to figure out what they meant was challenging. The pain, the longing and the sexual tension made it impossible to put this book down. The secondary characters were delightful. They added both humor and drama to the story. Ophelia London did a great job. The story has it all romance, pain and a HEA.

Someday Maybe is all about second chances, Rachel Daughtry and Oliver Wentworth dated Rachel’s freshman year at college. They were both head over heels in love with each other, but Oliver didn’t fit into Rachel’s 10 year plan, so she broke things off. Now it is almost seven years later and Rachel is back in San Francisco and finds out her best friend is dating Oliver! Leaving Rachel to figure out her feeling for Oliver and if/how she should tell her friend about their past.
I loved the concept of this novel and thought there was a great story line in the novel. As much as I loved all that, I found myself skimming through a lot of parts. This being said, it does not change how I feel about the book. There were of course some really funny parts and absolutely loved that both Spring and Henry made an appearance!!

Someday Maybe is a beautiful heartwarming read, I really enjoyed it.
I love second chance love stories, I enjoyed seeing Rachel and Oliver slowly reconnect and acknowledge the love they once shared was still there and that they were perfect for each other.
Sigh... so many happy feels =)
Ophelia London is on my faves/must read authors list and once again she has given us readers a beautiful and heartwarming love story, the characters were likable and you could relate to them.
I love this authors work and I highly recommend Someday Maybe and all her other books.

This was a really sweet second chance story. From the start, Oliver and Rachel had chemistry. Everything about them was special. From their first kiss, to their reunion, to every other encounter they had that led to the end of our story and their HEA :) This was the kind of book that grabs you from the very beginning and you just can't put it down because you MUST know what happens next! I'll be going back to read more from Ophelia London! Excellent story with fabulous characters! Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this book. It is a retelling of Jane Austen's persuasion with a nice twist. Even though her family isn't thrilled with the guy its really more about the girl persuading herself that she can't be with the guy. The setting is San Francisco and both characters are early in their careers with strong friendships. The book is pretty short so there isn't a lot of character development. Even though the book is new adult its a PG13 read!

This was a wonderful read. I did not read the first book in the series (and didn't really want to) but as I saw the books were about different characters I didn't think it was necessary; and it wasn't. This book was a warm, fun and cozy read that I absolutely adored.

A super addictive modern retelling of Persuasion. Since I haven't read Persuasion, I didn't know what to expect. Although I found some of the drama unnecessary, I was still glued to this book. Cute NA read and Oliver was definitely swoon-worthy, always a plus.
