Hi, I'm Nicola.

I grew up in Monkstown, Co. Dublin and studied English at Trinity College, Dublin and at Oxford. I worked in publishing for several years before writing my first book The Out of Office Girl.

Since then I've written four more books - If I Could Turn Back Time and Girls on Tour for adults, and Love and Other Man-Made Disasters and Lola Offline which are YA romances.

These days, reading comes much more easily to me than writing. I have to have a book on the go at all times. I mostly read on my Kindle but I also love to use the library (when there's not a pandemic on).

1 - "It's not that you don't have something... It's just... not enough. Sorry." Star.

DNF @ 35%

I had really high hopes for this book, I love a good chick-lit adventure, but the alarm bells started tinkling at around 10% and by the time I stopped they had hit 'full emergency' levels.

The thing is, I get that the author is going for the comedic approach to the scenarios and situations that I encountered in the portion of the book I read, but for me none of it really hit my 'funny-bone'.

We have Poppy and Lily, women supposedly in their twenties... acting, well like hormonal teenagers. As I said I can see what the author was trying to do, but for me Poppy just came across as desperate, childish and a tad judgmental. Lily doesn't really come across much better, selfish, self centered and also pretty judgmental.

One of them in the space of 24 hours sleeps with a potential client, then a colleague, and then has a go at the colleague because she thinks he thinks she is acting like a slut... The other, travels to Los Angeles under the guise of helping her cousin to arrange her wedding, but is however just using it as an opportunity to further her dead and buried, non existent acting career.

I never like DNFing a book, or writing a negative review, and I have no doubt I will be in the minority in my thoughts. My issues with this story are more to do with the characterizations and personalities in play, and not the actual writing or the story-line, those things I have no issues with. I can see what the author is trying to get across, its just not working for me in the way I think it is meant too, and when you dislike the characters you are reading about, feel absolutely no empathy for them or want to know more about them, it is for me time to call it a day.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! As soon as I saw this book I knew I had to read it straight away, so when it came through my letterbox I started reading it straight away. It is an amazingly written book that easily takes you on the journey with Poppy, Lilly, Maggie and Rachel. If you like books about funny life loving girls going on a trip to Rome then this is the book for you! The charcters are easy to relate to and are described in a way by the author that makes them seem realistic, and the surroundings are described in such a way that it makes the reader feel like they are there with the friends watching it all happening in front of you. I would definately read more books in this series and other books that the author has written.

"Girls on Tour" was initially released as a five - novellas series, and while I adored every single one of them, there is nothing better than have all of them TOGETHER between the (beautiful, bright, so optimistic!) covers of one book, right? Especially when your own copy is SIGNED by the author herself, squeeee! No, I will never lose enthusiasm and love to my books :)

So, shortly. "Girls on Tours" follows adventures of Poppy, Maggie, Lily and Rachel in different parts of the world, to finally bring them all together in New York. But first Poppy travels to Paris. She works in publishing and must go there to land a new deal for her company. There is also young Charlie, her colleague, accompanying her on this trip, and who is a real Prince Charming.
Lily is an actress, at least she has learnt to be an actress. We meet her when she's being fired from work - again. The invitation to her cousin Alice's wedding in the very sunny LA couldn't arrive at better time then. The only problem is that Alice's husband - to - be works as Hollywood agent and it is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to speak to him about the job in film, about castings, acting, actors, directors... About anything connected with film industry actually. Moreover, Lily is supposed to help Alice with the last - minute organization of the wedding and as she doesn't drive, she's stuck with Jesse's company, a very boring and wearing a tie Sam's cousin.
Then we have Maggie, who's Lily's friends, and who's off to Meribel with her boyfriend Leo and a bunch of his friends, to spend there a New Year's, and for snow, Après-Ski, skiing on beautiful slopes, and then relaxing in a jacuzzi in a bathroom with a wonderful mountain view... Mmm...
And last but not least, there is Rachel, who was a part of one of the couples in Meribel, who, when boyfriend tells her he can't spend Valentine's with her because he's jobwise on the road, instead of bawling her eyes out, whingeing and planning to spend the day slouching around at home takes matters in her hands, organizes some friends (yes! Maggie and Lily, welcome back!) and they fly to Rome.

I can't say that I had my favourite characters, all of the girls were charming, they had their flaws and virtues, and this made them the perfect heroines. Nicola belongs to those authors who could write brilliant, larger than life, full of life characters, characters with their own personality. They're vivid, colourful and every single one that she introduces to us lives her/his own life. Even those of them that we don't know personally and only through email (ekhm, Lily) you can only like, or like to hate. Actually, she has described Jesse in such a way they my mind about him changed as many times as Lily's. Nicola Doherty makes the girl developing through the story, they are not those immobile characters that stay in one place and turn in rounds, oh no, they are maturing, growing and become smarter and more experienced, and they learn. and I love it.

And it really works, the way the book is written, because we first have a chance to focus on each girl, to get to know them separately, and only then, like cherry on top, we have all of them together. Nicola brings the girls to life and they feel so absolutely realistic and normal, and their lives are not only beds of roses.

The descriptions of the places that the girls visited were absolutely stunning. Nicola introduces us to places that we don't often visit in books and makes it with a great fun, even if she writes about palm trees. She has described the places with such accuracy and certainty that I don't feel the need to go and see them with my own eyes (although it would be nice one day).

There are some sections added to the book in the form of emails between Maggie and Lily, and they are a brilliant idea and brilliantly help to move the story smoothly along. The adventures are heart - warming and uplifting and they all have an incredible feel - good factor to them. You can expect a lot of fun, a little drama and some twists and turns, and in all the destinations you can be sure that there are troubles waiting for the girl, gorgeous men, a lot of embarrassing situations, problems with boyfriends, flirting and adventures. Life, ha?

I know I had some issues with the stories when they were published in the installements, they felt too rushy, as if their full potential was not used as much as it could be, but as a one, whole book it works out. It does! It makes a great, quick (because you can't put it down!!!), entertaining read, full of colourful, vivid characters and wonderful places in the world.

Nicola, as always, treated us to a great story packed with action and light, easy to follow plot. Written in her characteristic witty and light writing style, it was a real joy to read. It was a fast - paced, adorable novel, marked with Nicola's wittiness and casting great characters, with all their flows and merits. I am so going to miss the girls and their antics, really, truly I am! This is a wonderful, optimistic book, full of charm and feel - good factor. Light - hearted story about friendship, relationships, travelling, beautiful places, making important decisions and enjoying life. Highly recommended!

A great fun read. If you are going away this year, this is the sort of thing you want to be reading while lay on a beach in the sunshine.

As each of the girls are off to different countries, I really felt like I wanted to visit all these places, I wanted to be in each of the destinations while reading about them.

We have Poppy in Paris. Lily has gone to LA. Maggie is in Meribel. Rachel is in Rome.

I read the Poppy and Lily books when they come out as Novellas but I read them again when I got a copy of the book. And enjoyed them just as much the 2nd time around.

With the addition of the novellas I hadn't read. I really enjoyed this book.

A great fun summer time read. I loved the characters and the way these books all come together. I enjoyed reading about the antics of all the girls. And enjoyed the last part of it where the girls all come together in Manhattan.

I so so need a holiday after reading about all these great places. Although I don’t think mine would be as hectic or as mad. But I don’t suppose you could write a book about a reader is sits on her sun lounger reading for 2 weeks.

A very enjoyable read. I don’t think I can pick a favorite out of the 5, as each new one I started I enjoyed just as much as the previous one.

I have previously written reviews for the first two books so thought I would add them onto this review for you to read.

Poppy Does Paris.

This book is part of a series, by Nicola Doherty. The girls on tour series.
As it's only a short story I thought it would be a great read for when i had my breaks in work. And i ended up looking a little bit of a plonker with a stupid grin on my face while reading it.
This is just a great fun, lighthearted short story.
An ideal read if you have an hour spare, sat in the garden on a warm afternoon.
Poppy has headed off to Paris -working- with her work colleague Charlie. and as she hasn't had any romance for quite some time, she's a little more than out of practice.
She decides seducing Charlie would be a good idea.
Obviously things don't always go to plan.
So treat yourself to a copy and see just what Poppy does in Paris.
I am looking forward to reading more from this author, and as I have recently won a copy of if I Could Turn Back Time in a blog giveaway, I think I will be moving it up in my to read pile.

Lily Does La

This is the second installment in Nicola Doherty’s fabulous Girls on Tour series, I read the first one Poppy Does Paris, earlier in the year and really enjoyed it.

These books have been a great change for me away from the normal Crime fiction that I read. And I must say I have really enjoyed them.

Lily wants to be an actress, but so far has just not had that lucky break. Or any luck at all come to think of it.
She quits her job at a call center, and is then asked to go to LA to help her cousin organised her wedding.
Great, the chance of a lifetime, what can possible go wrong? Even better she realized her cousins husband is in the film industry. But she is banned for asking him for any help with acting work.

Lily gets up to all sorts in LA. I really don't want to give to much away, with this only being a short story. What I will say is it is a fun and interesting read. A Brilliant addition to any trip you are going on, as you will get through it in no time.

There seems to be a real trend at the minute either for novella series or for actual novels to be published in parts. I have to say that despite reading a couple myself, it's not something I am crazy about and as an impatient reader I want the whole story at once. I had already read Poppy Does Paris and Lily Does L.A. back in August, and so I reread them in this book to reacquaint myself with the characters and their story.

Firstly, I love the cover for Girls on Tour, and it is probably my favourite of Nicola Doherty's books so far. Secondly, if you aren't going on holiday this year then you will finish this book feeling like you have. It really is a lot of fun, and despite some of the drama and heartache that our characters face along the way, I was really jealous that I wasn't along for the ride with these four amazing women!

Poppy, Lily, Maggie and Rachel are four different and individual girls but not entirely dissimilar. Having not one but four characters to follow was great, and female readers will easily recognise themselves, or their own friends in one of the four girls. I also enjoy Chick Lit more when our characters live accessible lives, and face true to life issues, as the girls do here. They are believable characters that readers will really be able to relate to.

It's hard to summarise what each book is about without stepping into spoiler territory, safe to say that each novella tells each individual girls story brilliantly (and the characters feature in each other's titled stories), before bringing them all together at the end for a New York finale. Nicola is a brilliant writer and these books contain everything that is required for a good story. There's comedy, shocks, drama, romance, lots of surprises and more than a couple of didn't-see-coming twists.

Girls on Tour is a book you will not want to end, and I would love to read about one or all of these girls again in a future novel from Nicola. I've said it before but I'll repeat it here, I just love Nicola's books and she's fast becoming a firm favourite of mine, and an author I know will never disappoint.

Poppy, Lily, Maggie and Rachel. Four girls, some attached, some not. All seemingly content with their lot but open to suggestions. The girls are young, ambitious and game for a laugh. Five different trips abroad and each character gets individual attention, culminating in a grand reunion in Manhattan. There is Poppy in Paris, Lily in LA, Maggie in Meribel and Rachel in Rome. Great food, fancy drinks, fashion galore and some romance thrown in. All the right ingredients for a fantastic summer read...

Originally written as separate ebook novellas, this book combines the stories of the four girls, linking them seamlessly into a complete package. Nicola Doherty has written the ideal sunlounger book, and I speak from experience! On a recent short break, I was instantly transported to the light and humorous world of these four friends. Paris came to life with less emphasis on its culture and more on the atmosphere, LA dripped with its golden, perfectly toned residents, Meribel sparkled with its off-piste antics and Rome zipped by like a vespa through its historical streets. The stories are light, fun-filled and ideal for a lazy day by the sea. No extra thinking is required and the pages practically turn themselves. The characters vary enough to lend a realistic feel to their journeys and there are plenty of laughs. As the girls left each destination, I felt I was also leaving. A great way to travel, without the expense! If you have a holiday booked, add this to your shopping list. It should be on a shelf right beside the sun creams, in my opinion...

Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Niamh Greene and Fiona Gibson.

Although I'd read the first three books in this series- I read through the whole collection in the Girls on Tour book.

Poppy,Lily, Maggie and Rachel enjoy some special trips both separately and together. They have a great girly trip to Rome and discover that you don't have to sightsee to take in the wonders of Rome- so that guidebook doesn't have to dictate a great holiday. Learning to relax in a beautiful city is just as important.

They have some important life decisions to make along the way, some disastrous relationships grind to a halt- others start and become important.

At the end they all meet in New York for a surprise event! That isn't the only surprise of the trip.

These are really easy to read, fun books, transporting you into the pages of another world. Travelling with familiar friends- empathising with the decisions they need to make and the heartache along the way.

Treat yourself to this one for a great summer read.

Many thanks to Net Galley for a copy of this great book.

This is the kind of book that you only put down to search for flights and hotels.

Poppy, Lily, Maggie & Rachel are like my new book friends now. We've travelled the world together, via New York, LA, Paris, Meribel and Rome. I feel like I know these girls and I definitely have the holiday bug after reading this (thanks to the review copy from Netgalley)

If you love travel, glamour, weddings (real & fake), romance, guidebooks & handsome joggers then you will LOVE this book as much as I did. You get to travel the world with four brilliant women (and there's no packing or washing to deal with at the end....bonus)

Grab a cosmopolitan & cwtch up with this brilliant book - far more than just a holiday fling...five cwtches!

I enjoyed a previous book by this author and so I thought I would enjoy this but the Poppy in Paris story was just okay really and that is all I can say about it. I started the second story of Lily in LA and just got bored of it so gave up with the rest of the book. I love chick list but this book didn't really have me hooked in at all unfortunately.

Lighthearted, easy read

I got abit lost as to which character was which and had to keep flipping back to check. Was an easy read but didn't keep me gripped. There were some funny moments in the book which had me laughing and it was easy to relate to the characters.

Once again, thank you to the folks at Headline for being ever so kind and sending me a copy of Nicola Doherty's Girls on Tour in exchange for a review.

Girls on Tour was a whole load of fun to read. I don't really read an abundance of chick lit, but I think I may have to start if they're anything like this novel.

Packed full of friendship and funny mishaps, this book had me laughing from start to finish. It even surprised me a few times! *cough* New York *cough*
Initially, I was a bit bummed that Poppy Does Paris had to end. I just adored everything about Poppy and Charlie's story. I was set on them being my favourite couple out of the lot because I thought it would've been impossible for Nicola Doherty to beat these two, but soon I was falling in love with Rachel and Oliver. Girls on Tour sports a wide array of fictional characters that are all so completely likable that you can't help but root for them even if they do something foolish.. Yes, I'm side-eyeing you, Lily!

This book was immensely enjoyable even for someone like me who loathes the hassle of traveling! I was so captivated by Doherty's writing. She truly did make these characters very real and channeled the different personalities of different holiday go-ers. Some want to see the sights like Rachel while others like Lily and Maggie just want to let their hair down.

And what's a holiday without some romance? It's virtually impossible to not be envious of the girls and their natural talent to woo the opposite sex. There are the solid couples of the novel that stick through thick and thin and spur-of-the-moment Skype marriage calls. Then, there are the what-ifs like Maggie and the dishy ski instructor from Meribel, Sylvian who I'm absolutely convinced she should've gone for! What? He sounded hunky!

I know it's very early on but I would love to see Girls on Tour on either the big or small screen! I reckon these four fabulous friends could give Sex and the City a run for their money!

Favourite character: Rachel is definitely my favourite character. I see a few aspects of myself in her - minus Oliver. The plan to bag a totally adorable boyfriend is still a-go!
Favourite couple: For favourite couple of mine, it's a tie between Poppy & Charlie (#Choppy) and Rachel & Oliver (#Rachiver). I let you read the book and decide which one of these couples is the best!
Favourite quote: Girls on Tour is full to the brim with hilarious one-liners that I can't simply choose one! Although, my favourite running gag throughout this novel has to be being "too fat to go on Valentino's yacht".

I was gifted a free copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

Meet Poppy, Lily, Maggie and Rachel. Over the course of one year, their lives will change as they encounter situations they hadn’t expected and travel to beautiful countries and find out what true friendship is all about.

"Girls on Tour" has previously been published in five separate e-novellas, but has now been put together in novel form, with added material.

I haven’t read the e-novellas, so I was completely new to the story of the four girls. This book is everything a chick lit should be, from love, drama, fun, sexy men and friendships.

We meet the girls separately, so this gives us a chance to delve completely into their lives, to learn about their past and follow them in the present.

The book starts with Poppy, a gorgeous 29 year old, who is going through a dry spell in her love life, that dry that she’s trying internet dating. She is a literary agent and travels to Paris to sign up author Jonathan Wilder, travelling with her annoying and childish colleague, Charlie. Surely in the capital of love, Poppy can end her dry spell.

The book then follows Lily as she travels to LA to attend her cousin Alice’s wedding, Maggie as she jets off to Meribel with her boyfriend Leo and his friend’s skiing, and Rachel, who after her boyfriend has to work over Valentines weekend, travels with Maggie and Lily to Rome.

The girls are fantastic! They have very different personalities, looks, jobs and lifestyles. However they work and fit well together. I felt like I was reading the biographies of real people as the girls are so life-like and realistic, and their persona’s have the story jumping off the page.

I can’t say that I have a favourite girl as I loved all of them equally, and enjoyed getting to know each of them individually.

Nicola’s style of writing makes the words flow, and her vivid descriptions not only make you able to visualise the scenes perfectly and feel like your actually there, but will have you wanting to visit all of the destinations that they travelled to.

There are plenty of twists in the story, especially towards the end. I found the story captivating and hard to put down. I loved all of the hilarious situations and the laugh out loud moments that filled the book, keeping me entertained throughout.

This book is perfect holiday reading material, with a gorgeous cover to compliment the story.

I love books that feature a group of women who make me smile, laugh and want to be part of their gang....I want to become the fifth member the of the girls on tour gang! This book is perfect for a summer read, or just when you want some escapism and fun. I can imagine going off to the park,or sitting in the garden soaking up some sun and absolutely glued to this.

The book was originally released as five novellas, which is how I came to discover the girls. But I love that it is now being released as one complete book (with a fantastic cover). If I'm honest, whilst I like novellas, once I get into a book a like to devour it all in one go.

As you can expect with this genre there is lots of fun, flirting and adventure. During the course of the book we jet off to five fantastic locations where the girls get into scrapes, and get to know themselves a bit better. There is of course romance along the way too. Each of their stories is engrossing in their own way and I struggle to single out which of the girls I liked the most.

I liked that the book is broken down to focus on each of the girls before bringing them all together at the end. It was nice to get get to know each of them individually without being overpowered or distracted by the others. Yes, see, I really do want to be part of their gang!!!

It is so hard to write this review without giving loads of spoilers, and I really don't want to do that. If I were to choose my favourite part I would be torn between Maggie in Meribel, and the finale when the girls go to Manhattan. Oh Maggie, I loved Maggie. I found her story more emotional than the others. She struck a chord with me and I was so pleased to catch up with her again at the end.

Nicola is a brilliant author. She knows just how to give the perfect mix of fun and emotion. She writes such funny scenes that I was laughing out loud. She really bought the girls to life and has created great characters who i could imagine being friends with. I loved the locations and I am hankering to return to Rome and New York even more now. It's even made me want to try skiing (well maybe sit in the cafe with a book and hot chocolate while the others head off to ski). I love Girls on Tour and will miss them....

Thanks to Headline who kindly provided a copy of the book in return for an honest review.

This is the ultimate feel good, light hearted chick lit book. Friendships, relationships, glorious destinations and lots of fun.

We meet Poppy, who is on her way to Paris to try and land a new deal for the publisher she works for. She has to take her colleague Charlie, who is younger than her and incredibly flirty.

Then there is Lily, an aspiring actress that is heading to LA for her cousin Alice's wedding, and is asked to help with last minute bridesmaid duties. Poppy is best friends with Alice and also a bridesmaid too. Alice's fiancée is a casting agent, and Lily is desperate to get him to help, for her stalled acting career. However things don't always turn out like you would expect.

Maggie is best friends with Lily, and is off to Meribel, with her boyfriend Leo, for a few days skiing, and romance. It is a group holiday, with two other couples plus a single girl, Jenny. Watch out in this section for the incredibly sexy ski-instructor.

Rachel, who met Maggie in Meribel, after her boyfriend has to attend a conference on Valentines weekend, decides she will have a weekend break in Rome, along with Maggie and Lily. This trip secures their friendships, and you see just how different the girls approaches to holiday are.

I will admit I was a bit worried as to how five previously released novellas would be combined and work as one full feature length book, but I needn't have. The transitions from each story were incredibly smooth, and the girls stories do interlink very well.

The sections of emails between Maggie and Lily are a great touch, and help move the story along and give you more info about both those characters and their friendship, in a very easy to follow way.

In all the destinations the girls go to, there are gorgeous men, hilarious situations and an all round feeling of fun. There is such a lively tone to the whole book, that I kept looking forward to having time to pick it up to continue reading, as I was enjoying it so much.

Firstly thank you to Headline for approving me for a review copy of all five novels together. I’ve read every novella in this series so far either through review copies or from buying them on Amazon and I can highly recommend these! Nicola also sent me a copy of the book which looks beautiful too so I’m glad to have it on my shelf! I also happen to be giving a copy of this book away during my second blog anniversary at the end of the month so check back for that!

The series is about 4 girlfriends and their travels. Each girl is the main characters in her own novella jetting off to a different city in each story. I especially loved Poppy and Lily’s individual stories and I was so glad to be back with Poppy as the narrator in the 5th novella Girls Take On Manhattan and again in the brand new material in this compendium!

There is so much to like about this series from the great writing throughout which makes you feel as if you are travelling along with the girls and the great feeling of camaraderie that you get when you’re reading. I love it when books feature characters that I’ve already met in another book so this series was perfect for me and it even comes with a character map so you can remind yourself of who is who and how everyone knows each other.

I would definitely recommend this book for readers who might only have an hour or so to read at a time because you can fit one story into that time, and also for fans of Paige Toon and Lindsey Kelk!

The final part in what has been an absolutely cracking series Girls on Tour reunites Poppy, Lily, Maggie and Rachel as the girls get together in New York to attend an exclusive event hosted by Lily. However, all is not what it seems.

I have loved this series. Each protagonist has made me laugh, yell at my kindle in frustration and also fall in love with them, their lifestyle and their total moxie. I must admit that I am sad to see it all end.

What is great about this collection of shorts is that Doherty has added linking chapters between each chapter and a whole new short story too. That is a lot of bang for your buck.

I think for me personally, the reason why I enjoyed this series so much is that I saw a little of myself in each of the characters; I also saw elements of their collective personalities that I wish I had. Besides all of this Nicola Doherty has made me realise the importance of adventure and also made me cherish and value the small events that shape our everyday.

If you have not read the Girls on Tour series then I implore you to buy this book. It is a wonderful sassy romp worthy of you spending your hard earned moolah on.

Girls on Tour by Nicola Doherty is available now.

Read on to see my reviews of the previous four books in this series.

I haven't read any proper chick lit in some time but for some reason the synopsis of Girls on Tour really appealed to me. Maybe it was the jet setting the girls did or just the implied camaraderie. Either way I'm glad I read it. It definitely a refreshing change from my usual read of twists, turns, blood and murder!

Girls On Tour is a story of friendship both long established ones and new ones. Four girls with different stories, starting with Poppy going on a business trip to Paris. Her story leads into Lily who travels to LA to help her cousin (Poppy's best friend) finalise her wedding plans. Then we meet Maggie, Lily's best friend who goes skiing with her boyfriend and his mates to Meribel where she meets Rachel who goes to Rome with Maggie and Lily over Valentine's weekend.

Nicola's other books, 'If I Could Turn Back Time' and 'The Out Of Office Girl' do feature characters in 'Girls On Tour'. I haven't read these other books and I didn't feel I was missing anything by not doing so.

If you like your chick lit you'll love this. This book is very easy to read, light hearted and entertaining. Perfect beach holiday reading.

Thank you to Netgalley and Headline Review for this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

The five short stories from the Girls on Tour series are all in this one book: Poppy does Paris, Lily does LA, Maggie does Meribel, Rachel does Rome and The Girls Take on Manhattan.

They are all fabulous stories and joined together it makes it even more fun. What I loved was not only are the five stories there but there is also some ‘extra content’, for example emails between the girls and events that occur after they get home from these fabulous destinations. It made the story more fun and the extra detail that I had been craving while reading the individual novella’s made the stories more enjoyable and satisfactory.

All of them have to make some serious life decisions along the way, but also there is a lot of romance and a lot of fun and what looks to be an amazing friendship. The girls are witty and will make you giggle to yourself. This is a thoroughly enjoyable book, and one that is going to become one of my essential summer reads!

This is one book you will definitely want to be reading this summer!

Girls on tour is a fantastic read bursting with romance, drama and plenty of laugh out loud moments! The tale of four friends and how their lives intertwine over a year ending with a fun packed holiday in New York. I really loved this book and warmed to all the characters especially Lily who had me in stitches with what she got up to in LA! The story switches from each girls perspective which was a very good idea because it works tremendously well, keeping the reader captivated throughout. All have their own relationship problems in some way or another and it was great to see by the end of the book that they had either resolved or the girls had changed their outlooks on life and relationships. I've never read anything by Nicola Doherty before but will definatly be on the lookout for more by this truly talented author. She has created a true gem with Girls on tour, a fabulously funny read and the perfect book to lose yourself in!

A fabulously fun read, 'Girls on Tour' follows the adventures of Poppy, Maggie, Lily and Rachel as they navigate the ups and downs of relationships. Each chapter focuses on an individual character and their trips away to Paris, L.A., Meribel and Rome, with the final section bringing all four girls together for a lively visit to New York.

All of the girls were great characters, as were the supporting cast who were well thought out and added so much to the sticky situations the girls found themselves in. The descriptions of the various places they traveled to were just perfect...I really must get to Rome!

Nicola writes with lots of charm and wit, and I frequently found myself giggling along at the scrapes the girls got into. The perfect book to lose yourself in and leave a smile on your face.

What fun this book is! It is a travelogue, a collection of love stories, empowerment - all rolled into one! The central cast - Lily, Poppy, Maggie and Rachel are all very different women wanting very different things in life.

As they travel the world and have new experiences, their views change - they gain friends and men and lose friends and men. The descriptions of their habits and characteristics make for some very funny reading! There are exes, current boyfriends and future boyfriends in the story - all crossing over in time and space!

I loved Poppy and Charlie's story and enjoyed the ending for that reason. (No spoilers!) I'd read Maggie's skiing trip previously but it was still good second time around.
