So we are back in Cape Cod with the gang and I for one have been so excited to read this book! Seaside Nights is the story of Sky and Sawyer, two of the most creative people in I have every read about, but in all stories of true love; nothing runs smoothly. Sky’s (and Pete’s) Dad is finally sober and is back working in the hardware store, so Sky is finally opening her tattoo store; Inky Skies. It has been a dream of Sky’s to have a tattoo store, as a way to express her creative soul. While taking a break at the Governor Bradford Restaurant with her friends and families for the open mic night, she was blown away by Sawyer. Sawyer has a lot on his mind! His father has Parkinson’s disease and his parents are struggling financially, so he tries to help them as much as he can, with the prize money he wins as a boxer! But now the doctor has giving him this death sentence, if he fights one more time, which is putting his parents future in jeopardy. Then Sky and Sawyer meet, when he comes in for a tattoo and sparks fly and they fall in love, and while Sky is not happy with Sawyers job, she supports him, until the truth comes out and she is left devastated. Will this be the end for Sky and Sawyer…? WOW! What a book! It completely blew my mind! And I can honestly say that I completely fell in love with Sky and Sawyer! They just are so perfect for each other! And while in other books in this series, the love stories have been rough and tumble all the way through! And it’s not with this book that way with this story and I think that's what makes me love it! So on to the bare facts. The writing is smooth and the plot is well written. The needs of a disabled person are spot on and the author has researched Parkinson’s disease, which doesn’t surprise me as this is a Melissa Foster book after all! With all of that being said! I give Seaside Nights a well-deserved 10 out of 10!
Another fabulous tale from Seaside - This steamy, romantic, swoon worthy story is about Pete's little sister Sky and the passionate, dreamy Sawyer Bass - Musician, Boxer, Poet.
Sky has always been the dreamer in the family. She believes that the universe will put the right person for her into her path when the time comes. She never expected the guy from open mic night would walk into her tattoo shop the next day and rock her world.
Sawyer exudes passion in everything he does. He's a wordsmith through his music, making Sky's inner being soar. But free spirited Sky has a problem with Sawyer's other career, that of a boxer. How can this man who makes her knee weak with the words he says to her ever think of hurting another person with his fists.
As Sky struggles with Sawyer's passion for fighting, Sawyer tries to make her see that fighting is not about hurting someone but about skill, precision and he needs to do this for not only himself but his family.
Sky and Sawyer's adoration for each other jumps off the page and pulls you in. You feel the battle that rages in each of them, and their love for one another is unmistakable. Will it be enough? Can Sky get past this one hiccup in their path to happily ever after or will it be too much for her enough to make her walk away?
It was so much fun to return to the Seaside Summer series with the newest release, Seaside Nights. I love getting to know laid-back, flower child Sky Lacroux. The book defiantly had a much more laid back vibe than previous books in the series, perfectly in turn with the character of the heroine. I adore Sawyer Bass, and thought he is the perfect hero for Sky - from his music to poetry. Watching the two work thorough their differences and come out on the other side was heart-warming. Seaside Nights is the perfect beach read. While this is book 5 in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. But it was fun to reconnect with the characters from pervious books. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
If ever there was a couple who were meant to be together it is Sky and Sawyer. From the first time their eyes meet in a crowded bar there is no one else for either of them, they are soulmates.
The story is full of love, friendship, romance and laughs. Great to catch up with the Seaside gang and their antics, the pranks on Theresa and her revenge was hysterical.
I have loved all the Love in Bloom series and each book is better than the last, if that is even possible, but this book for me was just ... WOW.

Seaside Nights by Melissa FosterMy rating: 5 of 5 starsMelissa always write stories that appeal to the heart. Seaside Nights is a wonderful example. Sky and Sawyer are each grapling with events that send them reeling. Sky is dealing with a shocking tragedy within and her family and the repurcussions have thrown her world of course. Sawyer is dealing with the prospect of losing an end to the career he loves and taking care of a sick parent who health is rapidly declining. His escape from the craziness in his life is to create. His art of choice is music and provides an outlet for his inner turmoil. Sky is an artist as well, a tattoo artist. She enjoys expressing herself through her designs.Seaside Nights is about making difficult choices on a journey of hope, healing and love. I love Melissa Foster and of course she delivered on this book as usual!! I have fallen in love with all the characters from the Seaside Summers series!! This group just makes you feel like you are part of them and you can get lost in a summer with them at the beach. I love how they are so close and welcoming.
Sky is a young lady that has a love for poetry. Sky has just recently purchased her own tattoo shop and is working on restoring it and the apartment above the shop for her to be able to live and work in. Blue is a good friend of hers that is helping her do the renovations and he is also very protective of Sky, along with Sky's 4 brothers. Sky never has to worry about anyone messing with her with these guys. When Sky goes out with the group one night, she hears a special guest sing, she has no idea that her world is about to be rocked. Sky loves the tone and looks of Sawyer, the guy who is singing that night, but nothing comes of them that night and Sky wonders why she can not get him out of her mind. The next day when Sawyer happens into her shop to get a tattoo, Sky is nervous and excited that fate would bring them back together again. Sky and Sawyer hit it off immediately. Sky tells Sawyer of her love for poetry and a certain one poet. Sawyer offers to take Sky to where some of the poems were inspired by that poet. Sky is thrilled at his offer.
Sawyer is a fighter, poet and song writer. He has a love for poetry that is inherited by his father. His poetic writing helps him to be able to write such amazing songs with little effort. Sky loves how Sawyer is always popping out poetic lines that make her swoon over him. Sky had no idea that Sawyer is a professional boxer and has some reservations about this topic that she does not know if she can get over. Sky always keeps this in the back of her mind but lets Sawyer take her on a ride otherwise in her emotions.
When Sky and Sawyer start spending all their spare time together, Sky does not know what to think about all of it. Sawyer knows what is going on and does not want to deny it at all. He lefts himself fall deeper and deeper for Sky and knows that if she can not get past his fighting that his heart is going to get broken. Sawyer wants to fight just one more fight to secure his father's medical expenses being paid in full. I love how Sawyer takes care of his parent's and feels that it is his responsibility to provide for them. He has such a big heart.
When an incident happens and Sawyer sustains an injury, things take a turn for the worst with Sky and Sawyer. Sky does not understand why Sawyer can not see that he needs to fight for them instead of fighting this one more fight. Sky thinks there are other ways to make money to help his parents. During this time of being away from each other, Sky realizes that she is being selfish in only thinking about her feelings. Sky them know that she is in love with Sawyer and is experiencing a love that she has never before.
I am so happy that this has a HEA for everyone involved. I can only imagine what this crew is going to be like when you add in all the babies they are going to add to the group. I can't wait for more in this series!! Melissa has a way to make you feel like this is real life and that you are part of the family. Thanks for such a great read!!
I'm going to in a completely different direction with my review on Seaside Nights by Melissa Foster. Sometimes a song or two will pop in my mind and I think, "man that totally works for this book". So, the two songs that came to my mind were Survivor's Eye of the Tiger and REO Speedwagon Can't Fight This Feeling.
Here's why these two popped up. Eye of the Tiger is an easy one, because Sawyer is a boxer and it's the perfect boxing song (thank you Rocky). He's hungry for a win. However, he's doing it make sure his parents are set for life. How sweet. Lets just offer up some ovaries for sacrifice here. If that didn't call for ovaries sacrifice, the poet/musician thing should. That's right ladies he sings and writes. Panty melting all the way. The more we get to know Sawyer the more we realize he's a keeper. *sigh*
Now Sky. I didn't know she was such a hippy. She loves poetry, art, and peaceful things. Sky was a free spirit, and she'd learned over the years to love herself for who she was, rather than comparing herself to other. She totally embraces herself, and I adore that about her.
We see that Sawyer can speak to her soul. At the same time she's trouble by his boxing. Throughout the story she's trying to get passed the notion of him fighting. For instance we see this early on:
No matter how great of a kisser he was, or how she felt like they'd connected on so many levels, he was still a fighter. Huge issue between them. However, Sawyer doesn't push Sky to support him. At times she felt like she was being selfish. I love how Blue helps the guy out by saying: "Fighting is what he does, Sky. It's not who he is." It's a good story on that aspect. You have someone that is so perfect, but has one thing you don't like. Are you willing sacrifice almost perfection for one thing you don't like? This is a tough choice for Sky. You move pass the boxing, Sawyer is the perfect guy for Sky. Hey I would take Sawyer. He's just yummy and can totally melt you into a puddle of goo. Fortunately, Sky was able to realize she Can't Fight this Feeling when it comes to Sawyer.
Overall, Seaside Nights keeps you entertain. You will see Sky and Sawyer hot and heavy. Trust me they are smoking hot, before they jump into bed. Once they do they tear up those sheets. You will laugh and you will get the feelies. Yes, you will get the antics of Bella and Theresa, and it seems to get worse (in a very fun way). This prank definitely tops the Bradley Cooper one. So, if you are looking for a getaway, you might consider Seaside Nights a try.
One last final thought before I end this: I liked how Melissa was able to work in the Parkinson, which Sawyer's father. It's a debilitating disease and very heart-breaking to family members. Yet, she was able to work into the story to give Sawyer the reason to fight for the money. It wasn't for fame and glory. Plus, it gave him an outlet, because it can be frustrating knowing you can't do anything for the one you love.
Favorite Quote: "Honey, there's no perspective when it comes to matters of the heart. If anyone knows that, I do."
I am a big fan of Melissa Foster’s Seaside Summer series and was happy to receive a copy of Seaside Nights in exchange for a honest review. This is book #25 in the Love in Bloom series and book #5 in the Seaside Summer series and like its predecessor it can be read as a stand-alone.
What I like about this series and any book of Melissa Foster for that matter is that her stories are usually centered on real life issues. Her characters are easy to relate to as a result. They each face challenges and issues that I am sure most readers can identify with.
Seaside Nights tells the story of Sky Lacroux and Sawyer Bass. I adore them both. Sky a professional tattoo artist is a free spirit and a lover of poetry. She is still reeling from the loss of her mother, which had some adverse effects on her and her family. She was able to overcome those effects and has now realized her dream that of owning her own tattoo parlour. Sawyer is a professional boxer who writes and plays music. His main focus was on winning his up and coming fight so that he would be able to pay his father’s medical expenses. However, getting involved in one more fight may prove fatal. Sawyer is faced with the difficult choice of fighting and winning to assist his father or not fighting at all.
“Now it’s like looking in a mirror, at what could happen to me if I get hit in the head again. Now I hear his slowed voice telling me to give it up and follow my heart to something else. Now I’m standing between two rivals playing Russian roulette. On one side is my father’s care and quality of life. On the other is something I haven’t thought about with any great significance- my own well-being.”
I believed that these two were perfect for each other. They were both caring and sensitive individuals. The attraction between them was evident from the start. The romance developed rather quickly, but it was evident that cared deeply for each other. Things were going great until Sky discovered Sawyer’s real profession. Sky hates fighting and as such was not comfortable with Sawyer’s profession. Will she be able to live with his career choice or will she force him to choose between her and his career?
This is a beautiful story of love, family and friendships. It shows how deep the bonds of family and friends can go. It depicts the difficult choices that we are faced with on our journey through life and the impact that the decisions made have on our lives and those close to us. It also shows that if we open our hearts and our minds, we will discover that there is usually more than one solution to problems we believe are unsolvable.
This was an engaging read from start to finish. It was well written and it’s sure to take you on an emotional ride. I definitely would recommend this title to lovers of romance. If you have never read a book by Melissa Foster then you can start here and then you will understand why I and others like myself enjoy her stories so much.
I received this book to review through Beck Valley Books Book Tours, all the opinions above are 100% my own.
What I love about Melissa Foster is she's consistent. You know, going into the book, how her writing style is. The woman pumps out books like nobody's business, but no two books are ever the same -- doesn't matter which group of siblings, friends, or location, each book you read will take you on a different ride.
Right away with SEASIDE NIGHTS, I could tell I would like it. Granted, I enjoyed Sky and her friendship with the Seaside gang -- granted, I've still only read Amy and Tony's story (my to-be-read list is miles long, I swear) and while I'd love to go back and watch everyone's journeys, you don't feel lost when you join this group of friends.
Sky is opening up a tattoo shop. Granted, she's been working out of the building as her friend, Blue, has been renovating it, but it's just about finished. One night when the gang goes out for karaoke night, Sky notices a dark, brooding man with a guitar -- he's yummy to look at but so very not her type: earthy, free, spirited. But when he sings... man, when he sings.
Sawyer doesn't have the best outlook on life. He's been boxing since he was a child, but just the other day his doctor warned him about the hits to his head. However, winning an upcoming fight would mean nursing care for his ailing father -- and family comes first. But when he meets free-spirited Sky, will he realize he has more to live for?
I loved Sawyer, and how different from everyone (well, Sky and her close clan) else he could be. I loved that he helps Sky move on from her own familial troubles and worries, but, like a man, he has a hard time accepting the same from her.
Sky and Sawyer were two very different people -- Sawyer, a fighter, and Sky, a lover. But together, the sparks flew. Like most romance stories, they have some bumpy roads to navigate. Sometimes it takes more than love to find your way -- both will need outside advice to point them on the final, correct path -- but I have no doubt that S.B.+S.L.B. will be a forever thing.
I am super excited for Melissa's next side-series, The Ryders, featuring Blue and his siblings! I love Blue and his friendship to everyone he encounters -- and that he's confident in his masculinity. One of my favorite scenes with him in SEASIDE NIGHTS was when he and Marcus were bantering and he told Marcus something along the lines of "you can't handle this". He's fun and light, and an all around a good guy -- even if he and Sky have... err... blocked one another (because goodness knows, 'cock' shouldn't be a part of Sky's vocabulary). I can't wait to get to know him more.
AND! The rest of the Lacrouxs are coming, too, and I'm pretty pumped for those boys (SEASIDE WHISPERS may be my favorite cover of the Seaside Summers series...).
It’s been two months since Sky purchased the tattoo shop that she had been working at. And, with the renovations almost done on both the shop and the apartment above, Sky’s life is starting to come together. After moving back to the Cape to help her father who was recovering from alcohol addiction, and after battling her own depression from her mother’s sudden death, Sky is starting to feel like herself old self again. The only thing missing in her life is a man.
Sawyer is a professional boxer who, from the recommendation of his doctor, was asked to consider retiring from the sport. One more punch to the head could mean a lifetime of brain damage for Sawyer. But he needs to get through one more fight. Not for him, but for his father. Suffering from Parkinson’s disease and having his health deteriorate, Sawyer’s father is in need of care that, quite honestly, they aren’t able to afford. But Sawyer knows that he has the ability to win his next fight, a fight that will bring enough money to pay for his father’s care for the next thirty years.
When Sky and Sawyer first meet, there’s no denying the connection that they both felt. But with Sky having such a gentle, loving soul and not able to fully understand why two people would willingly go into a ring and throw punches at each other, she knows that if she is going to be in a relationship with Sawyer, she may not have to like that he’s a boxer, but she’s going to have to learn to accept it. But when an unexpected turn of events happens, Sky starts to question if she really can look past his career or if she should quietly walk away and let him do what he needs to do for his family.
In any relationship there has to be a measure understanding and trust. And, without it, the foundation of that relationship can start to crumble. There was no denying the feelings between Sky and Sawyer, but with such huge issues and concerns hanging over them, doubts over their relationship start to form. Sawyer is used to fighting, but no amount of training could prepare him for the fight to keep Sky!
If you’re looking for a knock out book for the summer, look no further. With the perfect blend of romance and conflict, this book packs a perfect punch!
I've always said life at Seaside with the girls is a place I'd love to be. When Sky Lacroux moved to town to help her father get back on his feet, I wasn't attached to her. We didn't get to know her too well in the previous stories, but when I saw that Sky was getting her own book, I got super excited! Finally, Sky would come together and Woah..... with a boxer! Yummy!
Sawyer Bass is just a guy who is trying to help his family. He happens to be the boxer that Sky finds along the way... Or should I say they were brought together by the universe! A boxer that sings and does handy work? Sawyer Bass sounds like a dream come true.
I really enjoyed reading Sky and Sawyer's story. They're both dealing with their own problems but together they worked them out. The communication between characters was refreshing to see. No waiting around for the female to just get over herself. Just a lot of working through thinks inside and out. Loved it!
If you haven't gotten to know the lovely couples in the Seaside cottages, you are missing out.... but you have to pick up this book and get to know Sky and Sawyer. I am better for knowing them and you will be too!
One word. Dreamy. Sawyer is dreamy. Poet, songwriter, boxer, and lover. Oh, he's so freaking dreamy. I've knocked every other one of Melissa's men off the list. My BBF list now consists of Sawyer. ;)
If you've read Melissa's other works, Seaside Nights follows the same formula and it is the perfect after noon read. Get lost in these complex characters and swoon-worthy storyline.
Sky is Pete's sister from the Seaside Summers Series and we met her in Seaside Hearts. She's a gentle soul and a talented artist. In walks Sawyer – talented artist in his own right, but is also a boxer. Sparks fly, heat ignites, and romance reigns once again in this full length novel.
It's so easy to find yourself immersed in this beautiful world of friends, lovers, and family. All of the Seaside characters make an appearance and I enjoy how this cast is so much more than just friends - they are one big family. There is even some chunky dunking with the girls in this one, too.
Once again, Melissa has created a beautiful couple that we root for from beginning to end. Love, love, love this one!
Melissa always write stories that appeal to the heart. Sky and Sawyer had to figure that out for themselves and for me that is what made the story all the more special. I received an ARC of Seaside Nights in exchange for an honest review.
The Love In Bloom series shifts back to the setting of Seaside and the shenanigans continue! The town's new tattoo artist and poetry lover Sky Lacroux tells her friends the next guy she dates "has to be soulful"...She figures her chances of finding a guy that meets her criteria is pretty slim. Enter Sawyer Bass.....Sky is intrigued by the words of the song he sings at the local bar's open mic night. All of a sudden patrons of her tattoo parlor keep showing up with random lines of poetry that they want tattooed on them. No one seems to know the source of the poetry. One of these patrons includes Sawyer himself. Nevertheless, Sky is still intrigued by Sawyer and seems to hit it off with him, but she has issues with his career.. He's a professional boxer. Her ability to get beyond his hitting people for a living is crucial to whether or not she can let their relationship progress.
First things first, It's a Melissa Foster book! Do you THINK it's going to be bad? I didn't think so! Amazing, Hot, Sexy, Sensual. Can all men talk to women like Sawyer does? Holy hell! And his name just screams sexy! I think I fell in love with Sawyer right off the bat. And Sky. I just love her too! She's very artsy. She owns a tattoo shop, which I think would be amazing!
Sawyer is super sensitive, I gathered. He's super romantic (swoon!) and the way he talks to Sky, Oh my!
It was so easy to get drawn into this book, definitely NOT unlike the rest of Melissa's books! She's such an amazing author, and I have been wanting to read Sky's story for a long time. One thing I felt about this book is that we learned a lot more about Sawyer than we did about Sky, but that's fine!
This is the first book that I have read by Melissa Foster and I can honestly say that I'm now a fan. Her writing makes you feel connected to the characters. I adored Sawyer and Sky. Both have had struggles with their parents. Sky's Mother died and her Father was an alcoholic, Sawyer's Dad, a published poet, is suffering from Parkinson's disease. Sky is a free spirit so to speak, she hates violence and reads poetry all while owning her own tattoo parlor. Sawyer is singer\songwriter with a poets soul. He's also Sawyer "The songbird" Bass, a title holding champion boxer. I first thought that Sky would leave Sawyer once she found out he was a boxer, but true love prevails. The chemistry and attraction was instantaneous with these two. It was a great book to jump into with an author I've never read before.
Sawyer and Sky are deliciously intimate in a different style than the other books in the Love In Bloom series and it's exactly what makes Melissa Foster's books enjoyable and not cookie cutter. Her characters are unique in their own sense but they still stay true to the Love In Bloom formula that connects them all.
Seaside Nights: Sky Lacroux is a hot romance set in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Sky is a complex mix, she owns her own tattoo parlour, loves poetry and longs to meet someone who is deep and caring.
Sawyer Bass sings at open mike performances, and he is a top state boxer. He is training for a big fight, if he wins, it will earn him enough money to pay for the healthcare his father needs. But a medical checkup has a serious warning for him.
Sky and Sawyer begin a relationship, one which looks perfect if only Sky can get over her dislike of boxing. Will it be the stumbling block for their future? You'll have to read the book and find out.
Seaside Nights is the latest book in the Seaside Summers Series by Melissa Foster. Though this book is the fifth in the Seaside Summers Series and twenty-fifth in the Love in Bloom Series, each book is a standalone story with interconnected characters. I have had the pleasure of reading most of the books in this series, and Melissa Foster never disappoints! These books are all fantastic stories, and Seaside Nights is one of my favorites so far! If you are looking for a great contemporary romance filled with love and emotion as well as humor and plenty of steam, look no further.
Sky Lacroux lives her life taking things as they come rather than planning every detail. She does what makes her happy, and she is living her dream now that her tattoo shop has opened and is in the process of being fully remodeled. The one thing that is missing though is someone to share her life with. So when she locks eyes across the bar with the sexy singer Sawyer Bass, she never expects that she could possibly find such a strong connection so quickly. Then Sawyer turns up at her shop the next day wanting a tattoo, and they realize that their connection is one worth exploring. But when Sky finds out that Sawyer is actually a boxer, she knows that it goes against everything she believes in. As Sky and Sawyer continue to get to know one another, they both begin to feel as though everything that they have been looking for can be found in one another. But can Sky let go of what Sawyer does in order to have a future together?
I really liked Sawyer and Sky from the very first few pages of this book. I am normally not big on the hippie type of heroines, but I have to say that Sky was nothing like I had expected her to be. While she was laid back and artistic and very free spirited, I also thought that she was easy to relate to. She did what made her happy and she was comfortable with herself. Seeing a heroine really own and embrace themselves is rare, and that is what made Sky so special. Sawyer was so many things rolled into one that I felt like he really was the complete package. Not only was he strong and sexy, but he was deep and emotional. He was every bit the poet with his songs and words, and it was easy to see what drew Sky to him so quickly. He was loyal and looked out for those he loved, and I really liked how he treated Sky right from the start. He wasn't ashamed to admit his feelings or how much he wanted her, and he could not have been sweeter. Besides just connecting on an emotional level though, Sky and Sawyer had off the charts chemistry. The sparks flew instantly and you could really feel the heat between them every time they interacted. I couldn't get enough of these two, and loved every bit of their growing relationship.
Overall, this was another excellent book from Melissa Foster just as I knew it would be. Every time I start a new book from her, I know that I will really enjoy the characters and story. She always manages to give us something new and different, and I love how fresh each book is. It was fun to catch up with some of my favorite characters, and I have to admit I really enjoyed seeing the ongoing battle between Theresa and the Seaside ladies. I can't wait to see what happens next, and I know whatever it is will be a ton of fun to read about. If you are a fan of all around great contemporary romance books, Melissa Foster is definitely a must read.
This book really has all the makings of a book I would like. It has a girl who likes tattoos (my kinda girl), a guy who is inked up as well as being a musician and a boxer, and a nice seaside setting. I really liked the beginning of the book, with all the descriptions of the area and the people who live there, it is definitely easy to get drawn into the book early on.
So the heroine in this story is Sky, and I liked her kind of artsy spirit. I like women who own businesses, and I like women who are in the tattoo world even more (there aren't nearly as many of them as their should be). Tattoos and tattoo artists are some of my favorite people/things, so I was pretty sure I was going to like Sky from the beginning. I loved the description of her shop too, the way she decorates and the approach she takes to living her life all show a lot about who she is as a person. I have to admit though I am not a fan of poetry and Sky loves one particular poet, so a lot of this book has bits of poetry within it, and honestly it's not my cup of tea. But then again I most of the time don't like in musician books where they write out the lyrics to the songs, just not my thing, I tend to skim over them. I honestly wanted Sky to be more interesting though, so much of the book is more about Sawyer and his situation, and not a lot of depth into Sky.
So Sawyer, as sweet Sawyer. I didn't like him. Well that's not true, I didn't not like him, he just didn't get my blood pumping. I thought hey, this guy is a boxer, he's gonna be all hot alpha male like, but he never had that vibe from him. He's a really kind of sensitive guy in my opinion, and that really does nothing for me. Granted I did really like how devoted he was to his father and making sure that his father is well taken care of as he gets further in the progress of his disease. I also didn't like his whole boxing career given how dangerous it was for him. I mean I just didn't think it fit his personality to be so reckless or careless. I mean who is going to take care of his father is something happens to him. Just seems like a lot of risk and only a chance at reward, it just didn't seem to fit his sensitive guy personality.
Honestly I wish I had connected more with the characters. I think a lot of people would really like a sensitive guy hero type, and a lot of people enjoy poetry, so clearly this book has an audience, it just wasn't my kind of book. But the writing was good and the pacing was pretty decent so I have to give it an okay review.
"You know what I think?" "That you wished you'd never come into my shop for a tattoo." "No. That we are made from the same cloth after all. You lead with your heart, Sky. I lead with mine."
I have a confession...this was my first Melissa Foster book. I know, I know. Hanging my head in shame right now. Buuuuuuut, it won't be my last!
I enjoyed Sky and Sawyer's story so much! I had no idea that this story would have so much poetry/ songwriting love in it. I'm a sucker for that!
I really loved Sky and related to her in many ways. Plus, she's a tattoo artist! That made her pretty awesome in my book. Pun totally intended;)
"The man strung words together like jewelers strung pearls, and she tucked each and every romantic nugget away."
Sawyer was the epitome of Swoonville! Not only was he a boxer, but he was also a singer/songwriter/poetry fanatic. I wanted to pull him from the pages and call him mine. Sorry Sky!
"Two days was all it took-two days, a handful of kisses, and his warm and open heart-to make her his."
Their connection was fast, but it was like they had known each other forever. But Sky had issues with his boxing side. She just couldn't get past it.
I'll admit that I wanted to shake her and say, "It doesn't matter if he boxes! He's amazing! Don't screw it up!" But that wouldn't have made it a great story if we didn't have some drama, huh?!
"Lay your hear on my shoulder, your heart next to mine. I'll take it all-hear it through. I'll wrestle your demons to remain beside you."
Both Sky and Sawyer had family issues they needed to work through and that's why I think this book was so relatable. Each family has struggle and there's are no different.
I also loved all the secondary characters-from Sky's overprotective brothers, to her best friend Blue, to the crazy girls, and the equally awesome guys. This book had it all!
"I see so much when I look at you...What do you see when you look at me?" "A future."
This is truly a wonderful book! I really liked reading about that "strumming" guitar man and a sweet summer Sky.
Can't wait to read more books from this author!!
"Maybe life really was that complicated, and that simple."
I received an ARC of this book from Tasty Book Tours in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book's blog tour promotions.
I think Melissa Foster's Love In Bloom series is the longest running new adult contemporary romance series of this generation. And rightly so. From the first book to the very last one, Ms. Foster has always managed to give us characters who have their own personal issues to overcome as well as external challenges that they need to battle against. We always get a hero and a heroine who are made just right for each other that, as a reader, we have no other choice but to like them and root for them.
Seaside Nights is the 25th book for the Love In Bloom series and the 5th one for Seaside Summers. It's still amazing how, even with this book being so far down the line, reading Ms. Foster's stories still never gets old. I always love meeting the characters and the families she has created. I like that Ms. Foster always writes about a group of people and then tackles their stories one by one in each book of the series.
One thing I loved about this book was the heroine. I mean, I just found it so cool that she owned a tattoo shop. I don't have a tattoo, and I probably will never have one because my SO is against me getting one. However, I've always thought that tattoos are cool, and I've always envied those that had one for their freedom in expressing themselves and showing who they are through the artworks on their skin.
Seaside Night's hero and heroine were really perfect for each other. This book, while it had enough steam on it, is still technically a clean contemporary romance novel. I am more than happoy to recommend this to anybody. Of course, you may not want to go all the way back to the first Love In Bloom book. You can start with this book right here and see for yourself just why Melissa Foster is a name that holds weight in the romance world.
Seaside Nights is a part of Melissa Foster's Love in Bloom Series. It can be read as a stand alone as well as a part of the series. Even though it is book 25 in the series, Melissa Foster never ceases to amaze me with her ingenuity and ability to develop new concepts. I always love the way she is able to develop her story lines so that they intricately weave among the other books in the series, yet also tell a story of their own.
Seaside Nights is Sky Lacroux and Sawyer Bass' story. If you are a fan of Melissa Foster, you will have met Sky in the other Seaside Summer books, as she is Pete Lacroux's little sister. Sky came home to help with her father and to be with her family. She is an amazing artist and has decided to open her own tattoo shop, Inky Skies. She loves to read and is never far from her favorite book of poetry. The last person she expects to see walk into her shop is Sawyer Bass, the performer she had an instant connection with from across the room.
Sawyer Bass is dedicated to his family and friends almost to a fault. He is a professional boxer and provider for his family. In an attempt to escape the reality of his life, he performs at a local bar one of his songs about his father. When he sees Sky, even from across the room, he feels an instant connection. He is completely surprised to find the woman who has not been far from his thoughts, in the tattoo shop. But will he have room for her with his family and career taking so much of his focus?
Melissa Foster has a compelling way of drawing you in from the start and not letting go. She writes such great chemistry and connections between her characters, you will instantly fall in love with them. There were many times I laughed as well as cried while reading this book. Sometimes I laughed so hard I cried. I definitely can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!
Review of Seaside Nights (Love in Bloom #25) by Melissa Foster
Review done for Hooked on Books
5 out of 5 stars
Sawyer Bass is struggling to deal with all the hits life is throwing at him. His beloved father is suffering from Parkinson’s disease and needs full time homecare soon. The only way Sawyer can afford to help him is to win the title fight that he has coming up.
Sawyer is a talented boxer but one more fight might permanently be his last. He can’t give up for his father’s sake.
Music and writing come easily to Sawyer, and it is also his release from the world. One night while playing at a bar, he sees the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. There is an instant connection that pulls him to her.
Sky Lacroux has all her dreams finally falling into place: she opened her own tattoo shop and now has her own apartment. The only thing missing is a love like all her friends have.
Sky is shocked to see the gorgeous man with the beautiful voice she saw the other night come into her tattoo shop. Sky is drawn to him; he is like her other half even though they don’t know each other yet.
Their relationship is hot and heavy right from the start. Neither of them can control the passion and pull they have to each other. They are perfect together.
Everything is great until Sky finds out that Sawyer is a boxer. Boxing goes against everything Sky believes in, no matter the reasons Sawyer does it. It might be the deal breaker for these two.
I loved this story. I could feel the love between these two from the start. This is an example of two people who were made for each other.
The story was beautifully written. I definitely recommend this book to read!
I will have to admit that I don’t think that Melissa Foster can do no wrong when it comes to writing books. She is one of the greats when it comes to Contemporary Romance and she seems to know how to write characters with whom you instantly fall in love with and capture your heart from the moment she introduces them to her readers. Her immense talent just flows through the pages as she writes these fantastic novels that are full of life, energy and romance – everything that a romance lover lust after. Foster does it again with her newest release out of the Seaside Summer series.
Who can’t fall in love with a Boxing crooner and his great outlook on life. When Foster introduces us to Sawyer Bass he is swoon worthy from the very start of the book and only gets hotter the further along into the story. Sky Lacroux is a different character from whom Foster typically writes about, and I absolutely loved her. I loved the fact that she owned a tattoo shop and that she had older protective brothers, showing that she was a real person. Foster has the ability to create a spark between characters like no other writer that I have seen – which makes her books very sexy and steamy.
The passion between Sky and Sawyer is like no other – the sex scenes were very sexy and hot! The connection between the two characters is phenomenal and Foster has a knack with words. I guarantee if you pick up Seaside Nights you will not be able to put it down …. Foster has hit it out of the park again with this newest addition to the Seaside Summer Series. This is a definite must read for this summer!
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first Seaside Dreams (Love in Bloom, #21; Seaside Summers, #1) Seaside Hearts (Love in Bloom, #22; Seaside Summers, #2) Seaside Sunsets (Love in Bloom, #23; Seaside Summers, #3) Seaside Secrets (Love in Bloom, #24, Seaside Summers, #4)
This is Sky and Sawyer’s story. Sky is finally living her dream. She meets a guy after seeing him perform the night before. She is attracted but she has issues with what he is doing for a living. Sawyer is a fighter but writes and sings in a local bar to relieve stress from heath issues. When he sees a woman in the crowd he thinks she is taken and moves on. When he meets her the next day in her tattoo shop he does not waste time getting to know her. They connect and are working together to make a relationship work but with Sky not liking him fighting will they ever be able to make it work? When Sawyer is injured and secrets are revealed will sky let him explain? Or will it be the one thing she will not be able to forgive?
I loved both these characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book, this series and this author.
Seaside Nights is the 5th book in the Seaside Summers series and the 25th book in the Love in Bloom Series. That is a lot of books with reoccurring characters. Yet each book is a new story, with new characters, and some old friends returning to say hi. Melissa Foster has managed to keep each book fresh and new. Each time I pick up a book from her I know that I will meet my new friends and get to catch up with some old ones.
This is Sky’s story. She is living her dream, opening her own shop and being happy with her friends. Yet she is missing love. Enter Sawyer Bass, sigh. Sawyer the musician, the poet, and the boxer. Sky is able to accept the musician and the poet but struggles with the boxer. Fighting is not what an acceptable thing in Sky’s world. She wants to be with Sawyer but is struggling to come to terms with his life. The connection between these two is undeniable. Yet, they have this boxing thing hanging between them. When something happens, unexpectedly, they both question whether their relationship can work. Will they walk away or find each other?
If you are looking for a book that will capture you from the first page and keep you entertained until the last page Seaside Nights is the book for you. This is the perfect read.
