Ten Moons is a treasure-trove of women’s lore and spiritual nourishment around pregnancy and birth. Midwife Jane Hardwicke Collings illuminates the sacred dimensions of childbearing with practical information, individual exercises and enlightening sharing from herself and others, including many who have participated in her birth workshops.
Really beautiful, helpful book on the experience of pregnancy. I feel like this book would be especially helpful for not just pregnant women, but all people who support pregnant women as well including birthing partners, midwives, doulas, LMCs, IBCLCs. It provides the perspective on pregnancy and birth that our dominant western culture seems to have all but lost, that this journey is at its core, physiological, biological and a natural, organic happening. It provides helpful information, encouraging personal anecdotes and resources to the spiritual, physical and emotional aspects of pregnancy and birth. It is also an easy read, so is not too challenging for tired pregnant mothers to engage with. Do not read this book expecting more mainstream advice on pregnancy, this is definitely alternative to what you will probably hear from your OBGYN. But that's the beauty of it. Thanks Jane for your profound wisdom.
Confused by the format of this book. It's almost like a collection of magazine articles with no flow. Some useful information, recommends lots of alternative therapies. I don't agree with everything it says.
This was so enlightening and empowering. I got through 28 hours of natural labor, at home. Sadly unable to push due to cord wrapped around neck but this book absolutely helped me feel capable in a country where i have no support network.
