Just when she thinks her life can’t get any worse, Taylor meets alpha wolf Alder—the most caring, gallant, and handsome man on the planet. On the run from the police, there’s no way she could possibly get involved with him. But somehow she does anyway.

Alder seems to be convinced that the two of them are going to live happily ever after in his mountain territory. But between looming pack wars, her dicey past, and his twin brother—the most obnoxious, sadistic, and handsome man on the planet—Taylor has a feeling that her new life among werewolves may be just as complicated as her human one.

As my friends on GR know, I don't normally read PNR, but I had to read a shapeshifter book as part of a challenge. I picked the right one. Fast paced, quick read and a decent storyline.

Girl running from the law is picked up by a man who not only helps her run from the law but he is also, unbeknownst to her, a wolf. There are some secrets to learn and I'm actually interested enough to read book 2.

Trust is book #1 in the Running With Alpha’s Series and the first book I have read by this author. I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review so here goes...

Trust running with alphas is the first supernatural book I have read in ages. I think I completely od'ed on vampires and werewolves but I thought I would give this one a go to ease myself back into the genre.

I'm gonna be honest and say I'm a little disappointed!

This book is weird; Taylor is on the run from the police for killing a guy but we never find out why or any background info on her at all.

Alder is almost childlike in his innocence and lack of understanding of the human world but he can drive a truck???? He seems almost split personality one minute he’s sweet not understanding her references then he goes into werewolf mode and he like a different person.

Once Alder takes Taylor back to his den (yes an actual cave!!) she is introduced to a world of shifters not just werewolves. He'll there's even a female shifter raccoon!!!

This had a Narnia vibe to it which is fab but if you then throw in some sex and a crude twin brother and that's where the sweet childhood memories of Aslan and the sons of Adam and daughters of Eve gets a bit messed up!!

There was definitely some chemistry between Alder and Taylor but I really didn't feel a life altering desire especially not on her part anyway.

This book just didn't really work for me sorry 3 stars

Overall: Taylor is on the run from the cops because she killed someone. She runs into Alder who helps her out with a ride, that turns into them running from the cops into the woods. The whole time Alder realizes that he doesn't care what Taylor did in her past, he knows that she is the mate that he has always wanted. Taylor doesn't understand why Alder seems so into her and by the end of the book, she realizes that she in for one hell of a ride. I really enjoyed the first book in this series because of how things progressed between Taylor and Alder. I also liked the surprise that Taylor got when she realized that Alder had a twin brother. The story felt that it could be a real situation.

This was a good book. I had a hard time staying with the story and how fast Taylor went with Alder, but I guess if I were in her situation I would too. I feel like something was missing from the story and I can't quite put my finger on it... overall it was a good book and I will read the rest to find out what is going to happen to the Pack, Taylor, Alder and Hale.

ORIGINALLY POSTED AT DJ'S BOOK CORNER

I had no idea what to expect from this book. I mean, the cover is hot and the synopsis sounded interesting enough, but how many times have I been fooled by those two things? Too many to count.

I'm happy to report this book delivered. I liked it from the start and refused to put it down. Took a couple of hours to read at most. So it's a very fast read if that's what you're looking for.

Taylor. I like her. Alder. I love him. Taylor's on the run from the law for murder, but we don't know yet what the circumstances were surrounding this. Not saying it's justified, just saying we don't know anything yet. Taylor tries to hide this from Alder when she involves him in her most recent escape plot. But he soon learns the truth and sticks by her side. I would say he's an idiot, but he's also a wolf shifter and his instincts were telling him to stay with her and protect her at all costs. Can't argue with that shifter instinct, now can we?

*Le swoon* I can't not love the over-protective alpha male and no one needs Alder more than Taylor. Of course she tried to pretend like she had it all under control and that she could take care of herself, but that facade was quickly done away with. Yet, I can totally respect Taylor for wanting to tough it out on her own and not make anyone an accomplice. She couldn't understand either why Alder would want to help her. That is, until she learns he's a shifter.

One thing that confuses me a bit is the entire shifter thing. The book alludes to the fact that humans are perfectly aware of the shifter community, but just keep their distance. However, that's not made clear to me. Taylor was totally chill about finding out Alder was a shifter so I'm thinking that shifters are known about, but still, I can't be sure.

Anyway...though the romance moved a little fast, I found it fun and appealing and didn't mind it so much. The one love scene that we get to experience was sexy, but not the hottest I've ever read. But for some reason, I expect future books to TAKE IT THERE. Alder's brother, Hale, has been set up to play a major part in the rest of Alder and Taylor's love story, so I'm excited to see where that goes.

Overall, a good read that I would recommend to fans of paranormal lovin'. I'm really interested in getting started on Honesty, the next book in the serial. I really want to know what happens. So yes, I have a new go-to author to add to the list. Go pick this one up now!

REVIEW:
The first in the Running with Alphas series is a short and sweet introduction to an interesting pair, one werewolf one criminal on the run.

Trust follows Taylor who is on the run from the FBI, she has been accused of murdering a state senator. Luckily she runs into a very understanding Alpha wolf Alder, who is venturing out of his den to visit family. He senses something about Taylor that makes him want to protect her. Thus Alder decides to bring her into his territory and into the dangerous world of shifters.

Taylor is still a bit of a mystery to me since all we really learn about her is what she is accused of. It’s hard for me with short stories to connect the character since their not fully developed yet. But so far Taylor is in a heck of a situation and desperate times call for desperate measures. She’s putting a lot of trust in a stranger and too me it is way too much trust. Alder seems like a sweet man who is lacking a lot of human skills due to the fact he lives in a den away from humans. He’s also in the middle of damage control when it comes to his brother, whom we only get a slight glimpse at and he seems like a real piece of work.

Overall this is just an introduction so be prepared for a lot of questions leading into the second installment. The secondary characters introduced are interesting, there are different kinds of shifters of course, and a bit of drama among the shifters with the two brothers who are leading them. The idea of them actually living in a cave was a bit strange, but made the wolves and shifters actually seem wilder in nature. The romance is there with lot of tension and the oh so overly used virgin concept. Nonetheless I liked Alder and Taylor together, I think their differences will help with the danger that they both have coming. In the end I needed a bit more to connect with the characters, which is my number one must have in a short story or full-length novel.

This is a short story of Taylor and how she meets Alder and his pack, the Halycon Pack, and his twin, Hale. Taylor is on the run from the cops. It's a big deal, allegedly, she shot and killed a Senator. On her run, she is picked up by Alder, then chased by the cops, then werewolves, hikes a mountain, and that's only the beginning. This novella will continue but the this the beginning to give you a little insight into things to come.

Taylor hides and lies. Or in the beginning. She doesn't trust Alder at first, but feels that she should. She lies at first, then comes clean, a little. She was an orphan in foster care. She's in big trouble with the law, hence the police chase. She hasn't told him that Taylor is her middle name, but hopefully that will come. She also has heart problems, but that really isn't covered that much yet, hopefully in the future.

Alder is sweet, loyal, hawt, and a beautiful Alpha wolf. He's a little clueless because he spends so much of his time in wolf form on secluded with his pack, but he's willing to give it up for Taylor. He knows she's his mate, he just has to convince her. I'm also not quite sure how the mate part works in this series as it's not touched on, but I'm all about werewolves, so hopefully it'll be covered in the future as well. This is a short story and you can only pack so much into so few words.

I look forward to reading more, as this is just the start. I do hope we get to learn more about the Pack, I really like Alder and Lark, and I hope Taylor gets over some of her issues. I want to like her, I almost like her, but there's too many things that make me doubt her, like why she didn't fully explain her situation to Alder. And if she's so mistrusting, why on Earth is she letting Alder drag her across mountains and into seclusion. Though a part of her issue is abandonment, I need her to be a little more believable in that, though I know she just wants the attention he's giving her. With that, I am looking forward to the next novellas to follow this one! 4.5 PAWS!!

**This review was previously posted on Amazon.**

I have had the Privilage of reading Viola's Enchanting stories,to me they are like my own personal Book Crack!!

In Trust (Running with The Alpha's book # 1) we follow the story Taylor who is on the runfrom the FBI for a crime she didn't commit.
(Or did She ?)Taylor soon finds her own personal Protector & Getaway driver in Alder.
Alder is one Hot Hunk of Man /Alpha Werewolf who upon meeting Taylor on the road , offers her a lift. Along the way he realizes she has secrets(He does as well.)he needs to know about in order to protect what he already knows belongs to him.Until they makeit back to his Den.
Hale is an Alpha Werewolf Shifter like hi brother Alder, but he kind of invades the new matesHappy love nest.
Can't wait to see what happens between these three in the next installment.

Honesty (Running With The Alpha's Book # 2)

This new series , like the others is packed full of
action , suspense, Romance , Funny Sarcastic wit and To die For Steamy, sometimes Animalistic Sex Scenes.
I love the charactors. Viola has a way of making them all so likeable or making you love to hate them in the moment.I'm especially happy that she seems to be adding different shifters into the forefront of her stories.I would have never thought a Raccoon shifter would live amongst wolves, but she has done it.
There were a few Glitches in Grammer, but it didn't ruin the story at all.
I am actually going to recommend reading the other Alpha series books ,just because certain main charactorsare involved in them as well.
The other series' are,

Claimed by the Alpha's (Mina ,Caim & Ashe)
Mated to the Alpha's (Mina ,Caim & Ashe)
Bound to the Alpha's (Cain & Sarah)

They are all amazing stories worth the time and monies spent , but you can just read this sereis as a standalone.
I'd say That's no fun, you would be missing out on a lot of goodtimes, Delicious stories and Beautiful - Hott Charactors .

Originally I was set out to give this title at least a 3.5 or higher due to the lack of editing issues, a well flowing story line, and at 125 pages it's almost forgiven for being an incomplete story (a practice seeming to be the trending thing lately to milk readers out of their money).

A brief diversion for a moment I promise it relates to this review.

The other day I was watching something interesting on television (a rare thing for me to do as of late) when I came across a documentary or study regarding how technology and to multitask has actually cause this generation to be unable to write a 5 page paragraph with one idea (topic) in it. Apparently they say that the writers can't move past paragraph after paragraph in one thought.

I point this fact out because like above where I stated that this book would have received at least a 3.5 rating. The following books in this series maybe all priced at $0.99 but the page number shrinks. I don't know if this is an intentional deceptive practice but it has been discovered by this reader and at least I didn't buy the last three books before I caught on. As it is the book count is as followed:

Book 1, 125 pages - free for me but don't know if this is always the price.

Book 2, 104 pages - $0.99

Book 3, 97 pages - $0.99

Book 4, 82 pages - $0.99

Book 5, 73 pages - $0.99

Book 6, 59 pages - $0.99

Book 7, 55 pages - $0.99

Where did the content go? Did this writer just lose steam and can't write any more. I am not sure if this series ends at 6 books but if there is a seventh, well it goes to say that it will become less with each addition book.

So, as for my original rating, I decline to give any writer who doesn't produce an actual full book a rating above 2 stars.

I received this book from Xpresso Book Tours in return for a fair and honest review.

This novella is the introduction to the Halycon Pack which is under the care of Alder whilst his twin, Hale, seems to do nothing but cause trouble although I'm sure we will see more of him in future books. There is mention of a ménage in the synopsis but this doesn't happen in this book.

Now there are a few things that didn't sort of 'fit' with the story and they mainly involved Taylor. We know very little about her apart from the fact that Taylor is actually her middle name albeit the one she's used from childhood. She's on the run from the police AND the FBI for supposedly killing a state senator but we never find out any details and even her story changes the two times she talks about it. She's had heart surgery but doesn't appear to be on any medication for it and she also says that she is okay for now. These are just a couple of things about her that didn't seem to add up.

Alder is a sweet alpha male who has decided that Taylor is the one for him. Now, I may have read too many PNR books recently but there was nothing that said WHY he wanted Taylor as his mate apart from he always had this urge when he was in the human lands. No connection, no mystic pull or bond, nope, just an urge whenever he travelled. This was probably the worst bit about it for me but then I'm a huge romantic and like a large dollop of connection with my sex ;)

On the whole, a reasonable introduction to a series. Don't expect too many answers though as you won't get them. Think of this more as a build up and you'll be okay.

***NOTE: I was provided a copy of this book to review by the author in exchange for an honest review****

Taylor, Alden and then Hale; these are the main characters in the book. Taylor is on the run, Alden offers her a ride and then they get into lots of trouble trying to escape a police blockade. Then comes trying to outrun a rival wolf pack whom Alden's twin brother Hale has managed to piss off. The book keep me engrossed right from the start. Ms. Rivard always does a wonderful job of making you love her characters (and sometimes hate them for good reason). I fell in love (like I always do..haha) with Alden the werewolf that picks up Taylor. And even though I only got a glimpse of his brother Hale, I already hate him. But you never know with her characters, there could be something else hidden underneath. Can't wait to see where she takes these three next!

I had some minor issues with the book. One being that Taylor (main female character) was able to hike through the woods, and up a mountain and some pretty rough terrain while at times running, with heels on. That I just don't get. The other thing is that Taylor evidently (SPOILER ALERT) has a heart transplant. Not saying that someone who has had a heart transplant can hike or anything. But the fact she never mentions her taking medication or being impacted at all is a little surprising.

I still REALLY REALLY enjoyed the book and will definitely get the next one in the series. I am a huge fan of Ms. Rivard's and I know she will not disappoint me in the end.

Trust is a great beginning to the Running With Alphas series. It's a quick short read. It's also a book one with the story continuing into the next book, so you are left with questions still unanswered and wanting more. Book two, Honesty is out now so you don't have to wait to continue reading the story.

Taylor is on the run from the police. She sees Alder at a gas station. I loved how Taylor describes Alder's looks. She describes him as "Men who look like him weren't supposed to exist, not in real life anyways." Alder is an alpha and a wolf shifter. Taylor doesn't know this right away. She is attracted to Alder and something about her pulls Alder to her. Alder ends up picking her up while she is walking away from the gas station. She's on the run and Alder doesn't know it. When he finds out he helps her escape the police. Alder is a man that wants to help people. He and Taylor have a great connection.

On their trip back to his pack, we get to know Taylor and Alder a little better. Taylor has some surprising things in her past. When they finally get back to his pack, we find out Alder has a twin brother Hale. Alder seems nice and sincere but Hale is just creepy. I can't wait to read more and see how Hale fits in and if the police will ever catch up with Taylor.

***I was given an ARC copy of this book for a true and honest review***

What do you get when you mix a pretty young woman on the FBI's Most Wanted list, a handsome, gentle & unworldly alpha wolf shifter, and his more "worldly evil" twin brother all together? A great story is what you get. Viola Rivards story is cute, fast paced, funny, and filled with a variety of different shifter characters. The book is not a full-length novel nor does it qualify as a novella but it gets the story started in a great way.

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Rivard and she definitely knows how to get a story started and keep it going. I love shifter/paranormal romances and this one is shaping up to be a great series. I can't wait to read the next book to see what Hale the "evil" twin brother has been up to, what poor Taylor is going to come up against, and how sweet Alder is going to hold everything together and protect those that he loves.

I almost read this book in one session only the need for sleep and a slight headache made me put it down to finish the next day. I recommend this book for all age appropriate audiences that love book series, romances, and paranormal/shifter stories.

I like the writing style. The way Viola Rivard uses her words is really nice. I liked the premise of the werewolves living in an actual den – a full on cave. But that’s it. Sorry! I wanted to like it. Truly I did but that didn’t happen.

I didn’t like it mainly because of some of the themes we see in way too many novels. For example, the virgin. We don’t see too many of them in real life and when we do they don’t let go of it real easy. This is like so many other novels where the girl is a virgin, meets the hottest dude EVA and then hands over her V-card really easy. Wam bam thank you ma’am.

Another thing I didn’t care for was Alder’s super possessiveness with Taylor. Sure, he’s a wolf. Sure, he’s an alpha but he was cool with running from the law and taking her on as his mate right from the get-go. He’s also very neandertal about Taylor. It doesn’t help that he takes her back to his cave…

I tried. I’m sure there are plenty of people out there that will love this but it just wasn’t for me. The average rating on Goodreads is 4.04 stars. So if you want to try it out. Then go for it. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it more than me.

Trust (Running With Alphas #1) by Viola Rivard Devin Taylor Michaels is a fugitive.  The last thing she should do is become involve with alpha wolf Adler.  However, Adler is convinced he can protect her from both the humans and werewolves.

I found Taylor’s character interesting.  She is on the run having been accused of murder.  She is amiable and a bit mysterious.

Adler is hard not to like.  He is a good person, or werewolf.  He’s caring, and willing to help the damsel in distress.  His twin, Hale, is pretty much his opposite except in looks.  It makes for some interesting scenes.

I enjoyed Lark.  I liked that she was a raccoon shifter.  It made her personality amusing and different.

I appreciated that the book was set in the Appalachian Mountains.  It made the story easy to visualize and feel believable.  I enjoyed the concept of this other culture of shifters living hidden among humans.

I wouldn’t say the story ends in a cliff hanger, but it does end unresolved making you want to read the next book in the series to see what happens.

Pretty cool story, at just the right length and just enough detail. I liked how Alder was clueless about a lot of human ways and saying. I also had to agree with him about eating meat. (smiles.) Oohh and twin shifter brothers.. identical. Cant wait to read more about hale. Taylor is on the run, and after a bit she will come clean with Alder... but is she telling everything. All the Alder knows is that he likes her and is planning on keeping her. Taylor has a past that she is all that forth coming about, she does let Alder know that the FBI is looking for her. When Alder tells her it doesn’t matter that he wants her to stay with him in the mountains, Taylor is uneasy at Alder's reasoning. After a bit of close contact.. scent rubbing, and getting know each other.. will Taylor be safe... will try jeopardize Alder and his pack? A cute story about a wolf shifter and a human, not a stand alone.. a bit of a cliff hanger.. but the interaction between the characters made it a good book and one Id recommend. Enjoy the howl and heat!

Trust starts out moving quickly. I enjoyed about the first 80% of the book but then it kinda fell apart for me. I really like Alder he sounds great and the sparks between Alder and Taylor start flying as soon as they laid eyes on each other. The two of them end up on the run in the woods eventually Taylor finds out that Alder is a werewolf. Alder had been worried she would be afraid so he waited until he had to tell her to save her.

Here is the problem first as soon as they get to the den they just seem to loose track of each other. Then second the one and only sex scene was well kinda lame with the disclaimer mentioning ménage and sexual content I expected something more exciting.

The end was just that an end no warning the story just stopped. I get this is part of a serial but I expected an ending. I am not sure if I will purchase the next book. I am interested and like I said I liked the first 80% or so of the book but I am not sure.

Overall I would give this book 3 stars.

This is my first experience with a book by Viola Rivard, and I am very pleased with it! I am a fan of shifter books, with this being high on the list. The story isn't very long, but has excellent character development and is well-written. I often run into shifter stories that are more about sex than character development, so this was a refreshing change. It is the start to the series, but there isn't a cliffhanger that drives you nuts until you can read the next book. It had a solid ending that leaves you wanting more without the frustration of a cliffhanger.

Born, raised, and still living in mountains of Western North Carolina, it was very interesting to read a shifter book that takes place in a fictionalized version of home area.

I was so impressed with Trust that I downloaded and read Claimed by the Alphas: Part One. That was so good that I also bought Claimed by the Alphas: Complete Edition so that I can finish that story. I will definitely be reading more by Viola Rivard!

While, I didn't like this one as well as some of her other serials, I did find it entertaining and believable. Well, as believable as a paranormal shapeshifter story can be. I was disappointed that no explanation was revealed on why they separated from their brother. The fact that Alder's daughter is all but forgotten seems a bit odd, as well.

The first part of the story felt a little dry, but it soon picked up the pace once they hit the wilds of the back hills. As always, the sexual tension helped keep the flow going, along with humor and a good suspenseful wolf chase. By the end, I was wrapped up in the storyline enough to download the second book. Though, it's more of a 3.5 stars, in my opinion, I rounded up to 4. I've already read Book Two in the serial and it's more on par with her other stories and well worth the download.

Awesome read

I love the way Viola Rivard writes. This is a story about a girl named Taylor who is on the run. When she is at a gas station she sees a man who should be in a magazine, he is gorgeous, to good to be real. She leaves the station and he watches her leave. When he leaves the station he pulls up along side her and ask if he can take her to where she is going. She eventually accepts the ride. Taylor learns his name is Alder and while they are driving they run into a road block. Taylor finally tells Adler that she is wanted and they are probably searching for her. Adler detours and takes a back road. They have to ditch the truck and head out on foot. Taylor eventually finds out what Adler is and later she meets his twin brother Hale. She also meets Lark who tended to Taylor's wounds. This is an awesome story, I can't wait to read the next book.

I enjoyed the book although haven't read a lot of shifter stories. I can't say there was anything I didn't care for but wouldn't add this to my keeper shelf. It was well enough written... I hate being distracted by a lot of editing errors. The main characters were likeable and I was interested in and cared about what happened to them. I would imagine someone really into this type of book might rate it higher .

I love the way Viola writes about her Shifters, still out in the wild before going out into civilization and wealth. It is so refreshing to read about the way they started out. I loved Cain's story and now to read about his twin brothers Alden and Hale is like going down memory lane.

Tyler meets one hunk of a male and little does she know that she is literally walking into the wolf's den. Alpha hunk Alden is about to
change his life, but will his twin Hale ruin his plans, like he ruins everything.

I think these are the only monthly series that I enjoy reading, the suspense and intrigue really keep me glued to the stories.

Congratulations once again on a great beginning on these brother's stories Viola.

I downloaded Trust-Running With Alphas as a free novella from Amazon. Some stuff didn't gel, the most obvious is her heart is a transplant, yet she's not on the required meds needed to prevent her body rejecting a transplant. While a good story, and free at the time, this is not a novella so much as an installment for a larger book. I hate when a full length book is divided up into chapters and offered piece-meal. The blurb is straight forward on the page count, but apparently you'll need at least half-a-dozen 99 cent installments before you'll have a complete storyline. If you enjoy paranormal installments, you would probably like it. I would probably read the whole series, but only if complete and offered in a set so I could sit down and read the whole book.
