🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Solid and Engaging Overview of Ukraine’s Complex Past

History of Ukraine by Captivating History offers a well-written and accessible introduction to a country with a rich and often turbulent history. The book does a great job highlighting Ukraine’s role as a crossroads of civilizations and its enduring cultural identity through centuries of conflict and change.

While it’s not an in-depth academic analysis, it’s perfect for readers looking for a concise and captivating overview. The narrative flows well, and the major historical events are clearly explained. A great starting point for anyone wanting to understand Ukraine’s past and the roots of its resilient spirit.

That the national anthem is called “Ukraine has not yet perished” pretty much sums up Ukraine in brief. The country has been embattled off and on since the time of the Mongols, with the desire for independence a theme throughout. This book is a very brief overview of Ukrainian history, which is so much richer and varied than the scant information here, but a decent summary it is.

Older and very different than Russia. The Ukraine was a major power, then was conquered by Russia. That lead to log-term Russsification and the myth that it wasconly a subset of the Russians.
