Opening line: …Adorned in Christmas finery, the Bramble House Bed and Breakfast had never looked better, while Eliza Bramble, manager and great-niece of the owner, had never felt worse…

My Thoughts: Eliza Bramble is running a bed and breakfast in the family home when she discovered her ex-boyfriend has booked in for Christmas. Horrified at meeting the man who broke her heart, Eliza books in for a Nordic skiing holiday in the nearby mountains. Not exactly what she wanted but it would get her out of town for a few days, the tour guide is not bad looking either! Marshall has issues of his own, but he is kind-hearted and a good guide. It is a small group that sets out on the bus for the remote mountain lodge – an elderly couple, a family with kids and another couple who don’t seem to be very happy in each other’s company. The snow starts falling as they arrive at the lodge and very quickly it turns to a blizzard and the lodge is cut off from the outside world. Unfortunately this means no Turkey, no Santa and no central heating because the road closed before the fresh food, presents and gas supplies had been delivered. Suddenly the spirit of Christmas seems to disappear as grumpy guests get snowbound and cabin fever. Marshall struggles to keep his guests happy despite all the whining – they’ve paid for 5 star holiday and they still expect it despite the conditions. Eliza helps him as much as she can, and as she works with him she realises that she has been wasting her time mourning a deadbeat – it is now time to move on. Marshal also finds himself having feelings for Eliza but doesn’t think he stands a chance when he finds out who her ex is. Despite the feelings they are trying to squash the two work together to try and make good of the situation and keep everyone happy. Even if physical Christmas is delayed, the spirit of Christmas is still around. SNOWBOUND IN MONTANA is a small book and a quick read, and author C.J. Carmichael, manages to evoke the setting vividly, develop very believable characters; and then also create adventure, tension and resolution very well without rushing the reader. The only let down for me was the very abrupt ending, which certainly stopped the good mood flow. I understand SNOWBOUND IN MONTANA is part of a series, but didn’t feel left out by not knowing anything at any time – so will certainly be going and looking up the other books and peeping into the other character’s lives.

So I was in the mood for some Christmas reading - yup in November - when I stumbled upon this short read. I loved the blurb, so I hoped this was just what I have looked for. I enjoy a good snowed in story and had been looking for one for a while. Well, it met my expectations half way.

Eliza Bramble signs up for a Christmas ski adventure to escape her two timing ex who is on his way to the Bramble House (a Bed and Breakfast) for Christmas. The tour isn't exactly what she had in mind, but it should keep her off the grid for a while and hopefully until he leaves. Plus the mountain guide is easy on the eyes, despite her being a single person among a family oriented group.

When a snow storm hits, the group ends up snowed in at the cabin with limited supplies and patience thinning out. Eliza is not only stuck with a bunch of ungrateful people but with Marshall McKenzie who is doing everything he can to make the best of the situation in hopes people would work together.

The story was cute and fast. I found myself enjoying it, despite a few wholes and the irritating group of people. Marshall was amazing in this book and judging by how these people were treating their circumstances a real saint. Despite all the whining, he managed to stay cool-headed and do everything in his power to keep everyone happy and comfortable. He couldn't help but slowly fall head over heels with Eliza either. Thought I expected romance, I was disappointing to find it lacking in this department. One of the short comings of this book and maybe it's because the story was so short. It seemed to me the book would have benefited from being a bit longer. The stolen moments that Eliza and Marshall shared have only been mentioned in passing as an afterthought while Marshall was trying to access his situation. I didn't see the chemistry, nor the attraction and half way through the book Eliza drew away from Marshall and only wanted to be friends.

Yet somehow they magically got together...

I could deal with the lack of romance because of the rest of the story was good. I gave it 3 stars because of what it lacked and the ending was kind of abrupt and felt like more could have happened.

I got a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

Okay so maybe reading a book about Christmas and snowstorms in the middle of July wasn't the best idea I've had because I couldn't really visualize it like I would have if it was really snowing at my place or if it was a least a bit cold. I didn't really get involved in the story or the characters but maybe that's due to the short length of the book. I wasn't really looking for a 800 pages book to read this morning anyway.

So, Eliza wanted to run away from John Urban, a musician she dated for a few weeks. She's afraid that she won't be able to "resist" him if she see him again after I didn't like that about her. She's looking for a distraction and she decided skiing away from her family would be the perfect opportunity. There she meet Marshall. He's a nicer guy and he tries to help people during the snowstorm.

My rating doesn't mean it was bad, it only means that i didn't really care about the characters. It was an okay read for me, maybe a little too sweet.

I'm still on my holiday themed audio kick :)

Eliza runs a B&B with her Aunty and in the lead up to Christmas she finds our her ex bf has booked to stay over the holiday season. He completely broke her heart and doesn't deserve to even breath the same air as her but he is very hard to resist. She decides to book her own holiday away at a ski resort to put some much needed distance between them.

When Eliza arrives for her Christmas holiday in Montana she meets Marshall, he will be guiding the group for the week. There is a tiny spark but Eliza doesn't want to even entertain anything with anyone.

The trip starts of good and then a blizzard blasts through leaving the entire lodge pretty much secluded inside with restricted access to hot water, power and the Christmas experience they all hoped to have. Some guests are more receptive to the change than others but Eliza is happy to pitch in and help where she can.

In the end the magic of Christmas wins and Eliza thinks this will be the best one yet.

My thoughts: I had to play this one twice, as I nodded off, but I made it. This plot was a little off but she made it work. The past summary sounded more interesting than the plot though. I guess the rest of the series is Christmas.

Recommend to others: It's a quick one but it seemed incomplete.

I liked that this was a story that happened around the festive period. Although this book is part of a series, this book very much felt like it could be read as a stand alone story and did not add anything that i could see to the previous books.

Eliza Bramble came to Marietta in order to get over a heart break two years ago and now her past is trying to get back in touch with her. In order to escape him she signs up for a holiday at a remote lodge for the christmas period.

Marshall is in charge of the trip and falls for Eliza and her ways as well as her looks. He's a very sweet man with a little inferiority complex as he wonders why no woman has snapped him up yet.

Its a very sweet read, for those of you that like a VERY slow build this is for you and it only has a little kissing right at the very end.

A lovely holiday story! A wide cast of characters presents many opportunities for the author to deliver some heartfelt holiday moments and meaningful messages about family and friends.

Decent narration, good character development and a charming story arc make Snowbound in Montana a good holiday read.

The very last thing Eliza wanted was to run into her ex-boyfriend, country music star, John Urban at her Bed & Breakfast over Christmas. Yes, she was so over him, the cheating, lying jerk… until she actually saw him, then she always felt her resolve weaken. Not going to happen this year because she wasn’t going to be there. The ski trip to the remote ski lodge in the mountains was exactly what she needed this Christmas.

Except… everything did not go quite as planned. The bus was full of other skiers headed out to the lodge, and they were a motley crew of ages and attitudes. Marshall had headed up these trips for years now and was confident that once they hit the lodge and the slopes some of the irritants would smooth out. If he watched over Eliza a little more than the others, or if he had wished she’d sat in the front with him instead of scuttling to the very back – well, that was on him.

At first the snow was beautiful and changed the landscape into a lovely Christmas card appearance… until it didn’t stop. And the snow piled up, the temperatures dropped and the mountains surrounding Marietta, Montana got hit with the first huge blizzard in years. With the roads to the mountain lodge closed due to the large snowdrop, no deliveries were coming any time soon, nor the off-site workers either. Soon those small irritations would grow to gigantic proportions as guests realized that they were indeed snowbound with no outside help and only the supplies already on hand.

Snowbound in Montana is a charming story of making do with what you have, and changing attitudes about everything in your life. Since Eliza ran a Bed & Breakfast she knew what the only staff person on site was facing, and she gladly pitched in where she could to help. But every other guest seemed to pull their Scrooge attitudes around them like a fuzzy blanket and make a bad situation worse by the minute. The attraction is there between Marshall and Eliza, although Eliza is fighting it because she believes that the love of her life has passed her by and she’s not looking for or trusting that anyone else can be that man. Marshall deals with his own issues of self-worth, from different reasons than Eliza, but still powerful enough to hold him back just a bit. Their romance is a slow build that the reader realizes long before they do that these two would be just right for each other.

I enjoyed Snowbound in Montana very much. It is a sweet story of how even when everything seems to go wrong, you can still find the Christmas magic if you simply look for it. I would recommend this story for your Christmas reading list – it’s one that I’ll read again each Christmas.

Sweet heartwarming Christmas novella!

Eliza Bramble quiet life has been turned upside down, all because she posted a blog, she should of never clicked the button to post , if she had not the blog would of never gone viral, she would of never been on a talk show and she would certainley not have her x , two timing boyfreind showing up at her bed and breakfast for the holiday!
So what is girl to do when thanks to all of that you bed and breakfast is booked for the holidays ? Easy, you call in reinforcements to cover for you and leave, take your own vacation and since you have come to love cross country skiing since coming to Mariitta Montana two years ago , you book the Nordic getaway .

Marshal Mckenzie, avid cross country skier and guide leads this getaway to Blake mountain lodge every Christmas , but this one is his most challenging, a major blizzard forces the travelers to stay indoors , creating bored vacationers with quickly depleting entertainment options, lodge staff are unabl to make it in so no room service then power and food supplies dwindle. Marshall, tries to keep, everyone occupied and Eliza given that she has her own B& B helps out , these two spend more and more time together and the attraction to one another is electric , but Marshal doubts himself because women always seem attracted to bad boys and Eliza's ex certainly qualifies as that.
Eliza keeps telling herself not to become involved with Marshalno matter how attracted she is to him or how much he awakens her, after her ex, John hurt her do bad she does not want to risk that again!

Can these two rescue Christmas for everyone, including themselves ?
Will the blizzard stop before supplies run out?
Can they keep the rest of the vacationers happy?
Will they give each other a chance a happiness?

Want to know, grab this novella and have a goodread!

This is definitely a one of a kind Christmas romance. I loved how Carmichael highlighted the spirit of the season, and it flows through the story. Carmichael’s breathtaking descriptions not only show you the beauty of Montana at Christmastime, but also put you right in the middle of a blizzard with no escape. Combine this with her intriguing storyline and you have one that you won’t soon forget. Just like in real life, the wonder of this novella is in the little things: a look between two characters, the light shining off of a Christmas tree, the star of wonder appearing on Christmas night.

I found these characters to be unique and inviting. It was quite intriguing to see their personal insecurities come to light. They affected the entire story. Not only were the main characters very well developed, their pasts coming to light and showing how far they’ve come, but they are the type of people that you want to know. I’ll admit, the miraculous mood swings of all of the supporting characters on Christmas day made me giggle, and only worked because it was Christmas day.

This was a quick, one of a kind tale that will remind you where romance comes from and the spirit of Christmas.

What a great story of finding friendship and turning to love

Eliza came to Bramble house two years ago with a broken heart and was Hoping she could hear in Marietta. Two years later she she still thinks she loves her ex but after spending a week with Marshall on a ski trip over Christmas and getting snowed in, she realizes that she doesn't love her ex anymore and when she is confronted by him she tells him to just leave and they are done. Now she has to find Marshall and tell him she was wrong to push him away and realized her feelings for him are more than just friends and she doesn't love her ex. He admits that he started falling for her when they were snowed in and because of they way she just stepped in to help their host during the storm and helping him when with everything. But what will happen with them now? What happens when they go to dinner at Circle C? What is in the box that Mattie gave her when they left?

Nordic Holiday

Eliza wants to get out of town since her ex-boyfriend
John Urban is coming to stay at the Bramble House over Christmas. She has decided to go on the Nordic Holiday tour. When she goes to sign up Marshall tells her it is sold out. He decides to allow her to come along but it will be in a small room with no fireplace. Eliza agrees and hopes by the time she returns John will be back in Nashville. When a blizzard causes all types of problems at the lodge Eliza and Marshall work together to do things to help everyone. In the meantime learn about each other's early lives. C.J. Carmichael has written another wonderful Marietta, Montana adventure. Couldn't put the book down.

Snowbound in Montana will put you in the mood for Christmas with a story of a snowy Christmas spent in a ski chalet in the backcountry. All the delicious food they have there will put on the pounds too. I listened to the book on Audible and I thought the narrator did a pretty good job of doing different voices but I did not like her voice for the main character that much. The story has a romance between two characters who did not think they were in the market for love. There are also an historic B&B all decorated for the holidays and several challenging people trapped in the chalet by the blizzard with the main characters who eventually find the meaning of Christmas. All-in-all this is an enjoyable and short Christmas story

Snowbound in Montana is the story of Eliza who escapes her ex and her day-to-day life to join a skiing tour with the kind and handsome Marshall. Unfortunately, her tour group end up stuck in a cabin together after a blizzard snows them in.
This was a nice snowy romance, although I felt the pacing was off in the book a little. Some of the story and the romance felt very slow and then it sped up right at the end which then felt a little rushed compared to the rest of the story. Still, I enjoyed reading this romance - the setting was lovely and it's a good book for the cosy afternoon's read.
Nice characters and a lovely romance, but strange pacing in the story. 3 stars.

Good Way to spend a Winter Afternoon

This is a nice addition to the Carrigan book series. I enjoyed the story and the main characters interactions, as well as the other characters in this novella. Only one thing bothered me and that is that some events are out of sync. For example, #4 Snowbound in Montana is supposed to be read before #5 A Cowgirl’s Christmas yet Callan and her sisters don’t read their mom’s diaries until #5 but have already read them at the end of #4. Since my copy was an ARC copy, I’m hoping the author fixed that error prior to publication.

Snowbound in Montana

In this story Eliza, a cousin to the sisters in the other books, has been in Montana for two years. Living with their great aunt and the family home. She turned it into a B&B inn. And under the great aunt was writing the family history. She came there to get away from the hurt of an ex boyfriend. But when the news of his reappearance at Christmas time she goes off on an impromptu vacation. I'm the trip she gets entangled with Marshall. He is the coordinator for the ski trip. Can she learn not all men are like her ex and that she can learn to truly love? And Marshall, can be learn that there is someone who can love him?

I liked this story. It is a Christmas snowbound story, but Eliza and Marshall aren't alone in being trapped by a storm. It's a difference that I enjoyed. They are stranded with a group of people that are on a skiing trip. Not all of the people are happy and Marshall tries really hard as the leader of the group to make things better. Eliza is on the trip running away from an encounter with an ex. As the two work together, Marshall hopes that her feelings for him will grow to match his for her.
There were some minor editing issues with this book that were slightly distracting. I wish the editing had matched the quality of the story.

A bit stiff, I don’t know how else to describe it. Maybe it was the just the no nonsense outlook the heroine possessed. Eliza flees Bramble house to avoid her former love. He’s a famous country star now but she knew him before. After achieving fame he cheated on her. She knows being near him is a bad idea so she leaves town.

She ends up snowbound at an Inn in a neighboring town. The h moons over her the entire time. She likes him but actively discouraged his interest. They part ways. The cheating ex accosts her and she realizes what she had in the H.

Clean romance, a kiss at the end. It wasn’t terrible but it was definitely meh.

I enjoyed this story because of the Montana setting, the wonderful characters and the interesting storyline that features the capricious weather of Montana that plays a starring role. Eliza and Marshal’s friendship is engaging and the shenanigans of the other characters in the story are both entertaining and somewhat exasperating at times. I also enjoyed the family dynamics between Eliza and the Carrigan sisters who have been featured throughout this series. I listened to the audiobook version and I enjoyed the story and the narration performance of Emily Caldwell.

Eliza needed to get away before her past showed up and tried to talk her into something she didn’t want. While she was away she meets Marshall. And then a snowstorm hits and strands the group together. Eliza helps where she is needed and Marshall and Eliza get close but Eliza is still scared by her past. Once she goes home she is faced with her past and realizes it is not the past she wants but Marshall. Can they make it work or not?

So here is what I'm not liking about this series.... In every book the woman is so in love with someone else until the last 10 minutes and then bam I'm so in love with the main male character. I did like Marshall he seems like a good guy and Eliza seems like a hard working decent woman. Together they seem to go together well. So, this one like the last one was just okay not great but not terrible.

Beautiful story about healing and falling in love again. All characters are interesting and there are a few stories that intertwine and are full of Christmas magic. The narration is just ok. She did excellent female voices but there was barely any difference in her male voices so it was difficult to differentiate who has talking.
I recommend this for people looking for a clean Christmas romance.

Very tender and sweet Christmas story. Hitting all the right spots with romance, intrigue and a beautiful happy ending. Eliza is a Carrigan cousin determined to avoid an ex boyfriend, who is a famous country musician, during Christmas. Headed to a wonderful snow lodge instead she finds a connection with the retreat leader, Marshall. My copy was given through Netgalley.

This was a sweet Christmas-time romance. Trying to avoid a head-on encounter with an ex, Eliza is off to a skiing trip, which by chance becomes a situation where the travellers are locked away in the lodge by the unforgiving snow. With little supplies on hand and mounting tension between each other, this is as much a story of survival as it is of finding love. A very nice read.

I'd forgotten I had read this book. It's a clean sweet romance with a Christmas theme. One thing that kept throwing me off was English referrals, i.e. celebrating Boxing day, eating clotted cream, lighting the Christmas pudding. I may be wrong, but I'm not sure Montana celebrates these things. (but I could be wrong)

Book 4 in series, completely works as a stand alone

I loved the whole snowed in at the lodge plot, but there was zero chemistry between Eliza and Marshall.

There were also a lot of characters and it was hard to keep straight. I should have written them down.

Kevin was my favorite thing about the book ;)

2,5 ⭐️ The story isn’t bad and I felt bored and I think everything about it is quite average. The romance develops very slowly and the couple is as warm as all the snow that covered the cabin they found themselves stranded in.
The narration is also very robotic and stilted, very disappointed with it all.

Decent Christmas set story. I liked that the snowed in group results in several families pulling together in addition to the start of a relationship for the leads. I wasn't overly fond of the 'voice' the narrator uses for the leading lady her regular voice was far more pleasant.
