I was missing the EE world, so I decided to choose a novella at random to read from the Eagle Elite series. So why not go with the first novella that was added to the series? Makes sense to make this decision at 3 AM.

BRIEF STORY PLOT
Evoke picks up after Frank (Alfero boss & Trace's grandfather) killed the De Lange boss (Phoenix's father). Frank's action shook up the mafia world and now the family from Sicily is coming to the states which means no one is safe. Besides this, they have others problem that being the boss-less & polarized De Lange clan wanting blood for Frank's action. Simultaneously, we get foreshadowing of the love triangle growing strength for the next book as well as in-sight into Tex/Mo relationship.
OVERALL~
✨ Why did I rate it only 3 stars? ✨
Evoke doesn't really change much to the story, it just gives the readers a perspective on how everyone is handling the aftermath and foreshadowing to some major things that are to come. Basically, if you choose not to read it, you do not miss anything at all and can transition just fine from the 1st book to the 2nd one. However, I feel if you liked the first book, I would recommend giving this novella a shot!

⤏ Evoke is a part of series and should NOT be read as a standalone.
⤏ It is told from MULTIPLE CHARACTERS POVs (Trace, Nixon, Tex, Mo, and Chase). Only one not mentioned and does not have a "chapter" is Phoenix. I did like seeing everyone's perspective in this novella!
⤏ This is a quick short novella that is easy to access on Wattpad. I feel RVD wrote this for the fans of the series and it is a good transition as to what is to come in the following book — Elect.

At least Nixon didn't act the way he thought..
And Chase. Ugh he's too loyal to Nixon. Nixon does not deserve Chase...
Phoenix was missing in that burying cigars thing :( I know it was right after the showdown but still. They aren't the 4 brothers without Phoenix.
Did I mention I love Tex and how much he loves Mo? :(

This was just a few bonus chapters so it was a very quick read but it was interesting to see how things were going after they all moved in together. We saw the rivalry between Nixon and Chase heating up and there were also a few chapters from Tex and Mo. I was very intrigued by something Mo said at the end of her chapter and I wonder what that means. Hopefully we find out at some point, either way I am looking forward to starting the next full length novel in this series!!

Elite is the book started it all, and had me clamoring for more. The badass that is Nixon is just so hot he lights the pages of my Kindle on fire. Elite is the first book in the Eagle Elite series and does an amazing job introducing us to the characters that we all grew to love. Trace is the female lead and Nixon is the male lead. In Evoke we get to see what happens when Chase (Nixon’s best friend) finally tells Trace exactly how he feels about her and we also see how she feels. This is a short story that Rachel wrote on her wattpad account to fill in the time between Elite and Elect .
All of the books that I have read by Rachel Van Dyken have all done the same thing for me. I get so caught up in the details and the connections of the story that before I know it the book is done. I great problem and a tragedy at the same time. Unfortunately for me I read fast and the books don’t last as long as I like but the character development is amazing.
In this book we get to dive more into Chase’s head and see how he feels for Trace, and the emotions that he goes through in trying to hide that fact from her, Nixon and everyone. The good and bad thing for Chase is that Nixon has told him he has to protect Trace at all costs. The torture that he goes through every day in being with her as a body guard just has me feeling so bad for Chase. Do be so close to the one that you love and not be able to reach them is heartbreaking.
Evoke was an amazing read and let me learn more about Trace and Chace and how their relationship developed from the beginning. Because of the attention to details and amazing story line I am giving Evoke a 5 rose rating. I also recommend grabbing a couple of tissues to read this one.

I loved this short little story that took place between Elite and Elect. It shows a little behind the scenes of the gang and their individual thoughts. What they thought of the Sicilian's coming. How they felt about everything after what Frank did. Chase, Nixon and Trace's situation - which, btw - I'm still not over after finishing the series!! I will always love Chase and will be upset for Trace not picking him. Seriously!!?? What's wrong with her!?
Anyways, I love that Rachel put these scenes on Wattpad for us fans to have the pleasure of reading. I will take whatever mafia I can get. I'm completely obsessed.

Why?
That's my question about this one - why did it had to be a seperate "book" when it could be just a bonus at the end of the 1.5 book. It's super short and it's basically them moving into the house and thinking what to do next.
Why is Trece so blind she doesn't see that Chase has feelings for her?
Why is she leading him on?
Why is Nixon so stupid to add more baby-sitting duty on Chase and just asking for him to make a move on Trace?
Why is he intentionaly hurting Chase by dangeling her in front of him?
Why is Mo with Tex if she regrets it afterwards?
Why is Tex a sucker for pain?
Oh, so many stupid decisions.
I don't even know how to rate this - it was so short.

This is a novella just covering what everyone is feeling at this critical time, there is a war coming and it is not going to be pretty. Nixon moves Trace into his family home and Mo, Tex and Chase are also staying there for now. We get to read the POV from each of these characters in this novella and it made me super curious about Tex, I dont know what his secret is but he has a big one. I do not like how every so many pages Chase is saying to himself that he loves Trace but he wont betray Nixon, I wish this was not part of this series.

This was a great short story to fill in some gaps before the next novel in the series. I loved that the reader gets more than Trace's viewpoint. Seeing what Nixon, Chase, Tex, and Mo think about different situations really opens up the series and gets a more deeper understanding of their character.
Very excited to read the next installment!

Evoke (Eagle Elite #1.6) was a great read by Rachel Van Dyken. This is a short novella that takes place between Elite and Elect that can be found on the author's wattpad. When Frank killed the De Lange boss, it shook the mafia world. The family from Sicily is coming to the states and no one is safe. I enjoyed reading Mo and Tex's parts. I can't wait to read more by the author.
