And Then They Prayed: Moments in American History Impacted By Prayer

Rate this book
History isn't a series of coincidences; it's a tapestry of faith and courage.

To preserve our freedoms in the future, we must unveil the secrets of our past.

With his inspiring talent of bringing life to the written page, Barry Loudermilk pulls back the curtain on spiritual turning points that defined our nation.

Through riveting accounts of courage, fortitude, and divine providence readers are empowered with the knowledge of what has really made America the greatest nation.

• In 1746, a large French fleet approached New England to attack Boston and other coastal towns. Amazingly, a group of Massachusetts colonists destroyed the armada - without firing a shot.
• During World War II, a surprise attack by the German Army nearly decimated Allied Forces. A fierce winter storm had grounded American planes; then, Seventy-one words from a commanding General changed the weather and the course of the battle.
• The last words of faith by a twenty-one-year-old American soldier facing execution by the British alters the course of the Revolutionary War.
• Within the stockade walls of Andersonville Prison Camp, where over one hundred soldiers are dying daily from thirst, deprivation, and disease, a lone private decides to act. The miracle that follows saves thousands of lives.
• After the Civil War, a Union General sets out to write a book dispelling Christ's divinity; but before it is released, a revelation changes his course.

And Then They Prayed reveals the true stories of incredible events in America's history that were altered or influenced through the awesome power of prayer. From the forests of Valley Forge to the deadly vacuum of space, men have turned to God and witnessed the results of His mighty Hand.

Whether you are a prayer warrior, a once-in-a-while pray-er, someone who never prays or does not believe in God or the power of prayer; this is an excellent book for you. Take a walk through the pages of history and see how prayer truly does make a difference. I think you will be amazed. One of the most inspirational books I have read all year. ENJOY!

The effectiveness of prayer by Righteous men

Stories I heard in part in my youth were once again brought to life, in greater detail than I recall. At this very time in our history there continues to be a need for men of prayer.

Has given me pause to think. I'm sure the enemies have supreme beings to which they prayed. And of course, there were American prayers that went unanswered. But for those miracles that came through prayer, it was divine. This book gave me much upon which to reflect.

What a beautiful account of American heroes made strong by prayer and the Holy Spirit. May it inspire all of us to live our lives focused on the eternal and to always give everything to God in prayer.

Great book. It gave me goose bumps. Should be a companion book to a history class. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is some of the scripture while correct had the wrong reference.
