Hi, My name is Christopher and the book we are here to talk about today is The fever Code. I first read this book as soon as it came out so For this review I Re-read it again on the 17th of November which took me two days to finish. I am now going to talk about some of the book's details. Its rated for readers 13 and up and was published on the 27th of September in 2016. The book was told in 3rd person and has 63 chapters with each chapter being around 6 pages long, All Together the book has 347 pages which also includes the Prologue at the beginning and the epilogue at the end.
I found the writing really good, I did find parts hard to read at times. I was tearing up especially around the first two chapters, The writing felt realistic and I thought it was easy to get back into the world of the story of the maze runner. I liked that at the start of each chapter it gave us a time, and date as it gave us some awareness of how much time had passed and it also gives us a rough idea of the dates of when the maze runner world was set in. I found it pretty cool that James picked a fan to have there name written in this book as a made-up book author that was mentioned in the story. I think the development of the telepathy between Thomas and Teresa, that we see in this book was cool and I liked how we got to explore that. The telepathy Conversations was also easy to point out from the page because of the different font that was used from the rest of the book so when them parts happened it didn't get confusing. I think it was pretty cool that we got to learn a bit of the technical side of the building of the maze.
I loved how James added Thomas's personality into the book, it was a bit different from how he was in the other books but I found out that I liked this Thomas even more. I found him really smart and kind of cheeky at times which I love. I would have liked if we had got to see some of Thomas's personality from this book to have been a bit more present throughout the series though. I loved that we got to see old characters from the first book and we get to learn more about there personality of some of the side characters, I also liked that we get to meet a few of the staff that worked at WICKD and what some of there roles were. My favourite person out of them has to be Paige, I kind of liked her mother and son relationship she had with Thomas. I liked chapter 21 as it had a sweet scene with Paige and Thomas, I like how it showed us that Paige does care about Thomas deep down. I loved that there were scenes with just Thomas and newt in, I think they were super cute. I also liked that the Treo was back together. Treo being Thomas, Newt and Minho. Another thing that I liked was that we get to know some of the Gladers real names in this book and we get to read about Thomas's schooling at WICKD which I thought was cool as it was only mentioned a few times throughout the series.
I liked the prologue it had but it was sad as we get a bit of history of how WICKD ended up with newt and it had his family in it, when I first read this book I thought it was all going to be in 3rd person of newts point of view but it's not as it was just a prologue but it does have newt in it now and again throughout the book which was good. I do find it kind of funny when reading as after you read this book, you want to read the first book, the maze runner. so because of that I find myself going into a circle and ending up re- reading the books series all over again.
I do think there was a few mistakes like in the scorch trials book, in a flashback it has Thomas and Teresa talking and Teresa sort of shaming Thomas for not being able to talk to her in his head and begging Thomas to work harder and that they would probably kill him if he doesn't soon but in this book the two kids did it even before WICKD started asking them too. The only other thing was that I can think about is that I would have liked for there to have been little bit more information on the characters, also I think It would have been interesting if we got to read about WICKD and gain information that Thomas and Teresa doesn't know, I think it would have been really good to have been given information from WICKD's point of view.
At the end I still agree with both sides, I wish that WICKD would have done all the experiments with the technology that was in the writers other book series, which is called The eye of minds. I wished all the stuff that the Gladers had to live through was done like that and WICKD could get the results that they were needing that way. If it was done like that than the Gladers would also have been safe and their health could be monitored very closely. If it was done that way I think that I would have been more for 'WICKD is good' but because it wasn't I'm just in the middle. I do think that I like Paige a bit more in this book because of what I know she did for Thomas back in The Death Cure book. If that didn't happen then I would have disliked her a bit more so because of that, My top six favourite characters from this book, starting at number 6 has to be, Gally, Alby, Paige, Minho, Newt and then Thomas.
If I could pick any place in the book to visit it would have been inside WICKD's headquarters and I would look in all the rooms if I could, the place just sounds really interesting, I would have definitely have liked to have sat down in the den where Thomas and his friends meet up. I would just like to be able to explore the whole place if I am honest. If I was any character in the book I would have probably have been Thomas but just not as smart. I'm pretty slow when it comes with math, I cant work it all out in my head like Thomas can much less long math questions, I always have to work most things out on my fingers and on paper.
I think this book would have been awesome if it was turned into a movie, but I think a TV Show would have definitely been better and then for the show to carry on with the series and through flashback's of Teresa's story showed of her life from The Kill Order. I know that in 2019 more films was confirmed to be in development. I'm not sure if they are doing the whole series, if they are just doing The Kill Order or The Fever Code or both or just Re-Making The Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials and The Death Cure but I know that it will be awesome. Anyway For each book that I read, I rate out of 10, so for this I'm going to give it 9. Or 5/5 on GoodReads
