As a political journalist, Kate Winters is no stranger to stepping behind enemy lines. But putting her faith in the wrong informant lands her in a Kosovo jail controlled by rebel forces. She knows she’ll be tortured and beaten until they’ve asked their fill of questions… but she soon learns that it’s not the low-ranking guards she should fear the most. They’re nothing compared to their leader — dangerous, sinfully sexy, Adam.
His purpose? Extract information from her by any means necessary.

Well, first off. I was craving something dark. I didn’t want to read something fluffy. But I decided to read The Duet, and I was changing editions when I came across this little gem. I started reading reviews when I saw that it was a freebie three years ago on IBooks. So I looked, saw it was $.99 and hit buy.
So. Glad. I. Did.
This was short, wayyy too short, around 50 pages, and I wanted MORE.
It was exactly what I was craving.
Rachel has proved, yet again, that I cannot be let down by her.
I generally don't pick up or buy a book if it's less than 300 pages, 200 if it's an e-book. I know that either it will be rushed or just not good, or it'll be good but I'll want more. Generally, it's the first option. 58 pages felt really too short but hey, it's R.S. Grey!!!
So, yes, it was kind of rushed, it's the story of a journalist who's been kidnapped and beaten and then she meets her captor and he's sexy and whatevs...I feel like if it was me, I'd need at least 60 pages or so just to be able to look at him in the eyes. She just needed 2 pages!
Well, I love R.S. Grey and her writing enough to get passed that. And despite of that, the rest of the story didn't really felt rushed. Yup, there was lots of sex on those 58 pages, but the rest of it was nice and of course...I want to know what happen between them next!!!!
PS: There's no cliffhanger or anything like that, it's just me liking two characters and not wanting to say goodbye!
This novella began as a dark read (caution) but had a really happy & satisfying ending. I really enjoyed it and will read it again. A quick read. I have also read scoring wilder and behind his lens by this author. Which are stand alone full length books. All three of these books are completely different from each other and I loved them all.
I really liked this it's a shame it was a short story because it could have been a great full length novel. Some parts did feel rushed and the bond had grown too quickly but that's because it was a short story. So for what it was it was good but I'd definitely read it if R.S. Grey did decide to turn this into a longer novel.
Repito: es como si fuera la precuela: the best is yet to come :p
Whoa, that was surely a fast and uber hot read! I wish Lock and Key wasn't a short story, though. Because I would've love to get to know the characters more and learn about their lives. Especially with that ending, I WANT MORE! Haha! <3
Demasiado corto!!!!
