Fifteen year old Jenna Flood’s discovery of a bomb—ticking down from sixty seconds—is the first in a series of explosive revelations that destroy her understanding of the world and her place in it.
Jenna believes she is an ordinary teenager, busy with schoolwork and helping her father run a Key West charter boat. But when a team of killers show up, intent on erasing her from existence, she learns the unbelievable truth: she is not who she thinks she is.
Alone and on the run, betrayed at every turn, Jenna’s path takes her from sun-drenched Key West to the alligator-infested Everglades, the streets of Miami and the Caribbean islands. Along the way, brutal criminals, deadly assassins and the forces of nature conspire to end her life, unless she can rise to embrace an impossible destiny and unleash her own lethal potential.
Everything Jenna has been told about herself is a lie, and the truth is a secret that may destroy the world…or save it.

Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis team up again, this time for an all out action fest. 15 year old Jenna Flood is having a bad day, did that sound like a tag line for 24? Good! Because the comparison is a valid and well deserved one. Someone wants Jenna dead, but why? What harm could a teenager be to the world? We join Jenna on her journey to find out why she is being hunted and what exactly everyone is so afraid of. As always, Robinson and Ellis put our 'hero' through unspeakable events, causing readers to wonder what ever is going to happen next. The book is anything but predictable. It will have you guessing and sitting on the edge of your seat. Once you start I think you'll be hard pressed to put it down until the very last page, then you'll feel the overwhelming urge to rush to the authors and ask just one question - when is the next book available.
Flood Rising is an action thriller that will keep you guessing right until the end. I wasn't entirely sure that I would find a book about a teenage girl this interesting, but this was a heart-pounding action romp from cover to cover and it quickly captured my attention. Jenna Flood is hunted at every turn and she has no idea why. Her struggle to survive turns into a fight to uncover a mystery that has followed her since birth. The book has a great conclusion, but its sure to leave you wanting more. I think this is going to be the start of a popular new series.
A really fast paced intelligent book by great writers, Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis...Jenna Flood encounters life changing moments, bombs going off and people chasing her all over creation to kill her...Really enjoyed this book, but of course, these are among my 2 favorite writers...Received this book for free for a review ...Either good or bad, it didn't matter...Will not give any spoilers on this book...You will love the writing style and get involved with the main characters, for they are well written...Lots of surprises along the way...Was awfully glad I received this book to read...Thanks Jeremy and Sean for a great read...Buy the book, if you've never read anything by Jeremy Robinson, you MUST start reading his books today
Loved this. I normally love Robinson's books a lot, and this is right in the top of his very best. Fast, connected, interesting, and great fun to read. We need more Jenna Flood books.
Flood rising was definitely action packed. I cannot tell you how many times I found myself cringing or worrying about Jenna because from a mom's point of view her ordeal was terrifying! Did not expect that ending and cannot wait to see where the story goes next!
Okay book with lots of action. Maybe a little more than a normal 15 year old could handle. But then Jenna's not quite normal. Felt it had too much mental dialogue. At least for me. But lots of people are going to love this book. Would recommend for everyone.
I took me about 4 days to finish this book. I loved it. I listened to the audio book and I loved the narrator. Xe Sands is amazing and a brilliant choice. The book it self keep me on my feet trying to work out who Is good and who Is evil.
It started like any other normal charter. It progressed into an explosion. It ended in a face off, a bullet, and the man who raised Jenna going down. It started a dash for survival- her own and so much more.
When I say "Flood Rising" feels like a Hollywood action thriller, surprisingly to myself, I mean this as as the highest of praise. I'm not talking about the rinse, cycle, repeat, throw in explosions every second to keep them entertained type. Though, yes, there are quite a few explosions, crashes, fights, and chases. I mean those type that make you feel like your pulse is as high as the character's. The type that keep your synapses firing so fast following the layered issues as well as the action that you feel like you're on the run. It says go, and this book does not stop for more than a breath.
Now some of you might be hesitant to pick up a title with a teenage protagonist. One of the reasons i think this book worked so incredibly well for me is that Jenna acts both with more common sense than many other women leads of thrillers while also making mistakes from her age or previous experiences, or lack there of, that seem reasonable. There is contextual reasons why Jenna might at times seem to know too much, respond too quickly, or react excessively well for someone of her age and background. Even with those, she's not infallible.
So many times, as I was listening to this title, I thought we were surely coming to the climax only to be proven wrong by another twist. This easily could have made the book drag. Instead I was baffled in the right ways.
There are times where this takes a few predictable choices. Some might even say completely radical twists given the summary provided. Except much as with other characters maybe seeming overpowered, it places just as much doubt in the characters as the reader as if these genre shifts are actually shifts or misconceptions.
"Flood Rising" was an addictive, fast paced, read. I really hope I'm able to continue this series. The author has snatched my attention.
I have been a great fan of Jeremy's books and had held onto this book for a long time. I started the book last year and it took me over an year to complete it but the book justifies my delay. With a habit of reading scores of books simultaneously, books which do not catch my fancy and/or do not come with a deadline (like in an ARC) usually go to the bottom of my list. Like many of Jeremy's books this is also a science fiction high action drama which starts off with a very intelligent surmise, takes it forwards well, blows it up into a huge canvas and takes it forward several hundred pages but somehow manages to crash it to the ground before it ends. How it crashes and burns form the rest of the story. Both Jeremy and Sean are writers who have given tremendous output and this should have been another smashing one. There is nothing overtly wrong with this Flood adventure either but it is the last quarter of the book, more like the last 60 or so pages where the story goes down a line that does not justify the way it has progressed till that point, flash of brilliance, yes but also some tame writing and maybe the story for me needed to play out some additional pages to bring more clarity to the proceedings.
I loved the idea of nurture vs nature which is brought forth in this book and the overall action a minute is pretty fast and the story delivers at speed. My ratings are based on the way it seems to proceed towards its ending and it is not the violence (i have red worse) but more the overall way the end has been handled is my peeve. IU could very well blame the authors having spoiled me with some tremendous stories over the years and my expectations were too high.
Everything you'd expect from Jeremy and Sean, action, action, more action, okay I did not see that coming, what just happened - oh I get it now - clever, action, etc.
I loved the ending with Noah whispering to Jenna - sorry no spoilers you'll have to get the book and read it yourself to find out.
Would love to see more, but I say that with all of Jeremy Robinson books.
Flood Rising explodes from the first chapter and never slows down. Jenna Flood goes from quietly living in the Bahamas to hunted after assassins wipe out her family. Forced onto a boat and into open waters, she’s fighting to stay alive while uncovering a conspiracy that stretches far beyond her. Robinson nails the mix of gritty action and character depth, and Jenna is a heroine worth following into the next book.
Another great novel by Jeremy Robinson! A bit of a different style of writing which is always good to see. It is a remarkable that he is able to write so many different types of books. Anyone who hasn't read any of his books should start now, it is an amazingly fun ride!
I thought this book was bizarre and totally all over the map. At first it sounded like an attack by local criminals. Then we throw in trafficking. Goes to military attack. Then cloning, outer space messages and saving the planet from ourselves. Then cyber attack, then a virus attack then aliens having us kill off each other so they can save the planet for themselves. Craziness
You like action and sci-fi? Read this book. Robinson and Ellis joined forces in this coming of age story of young Jenna Flood who turns out to be, uhmmm, smart, strong, dangerous! Yeah that's the word!
at several points I think there's a reasonable chance that the text was generated by ai. I read this in September 2025. that's pretty good if that's the case, but not nearly good enough to pay for. maybe next year AI will be better
This was a decent one but, I can’t believe I’m saying this, maybe too much action? I also just didn’t really care about Jenna, felt like a weak showing for Jeremy who usually writes my favorite characters.
A very good introduction to a what looks to be great series. This book was full of very well developed characters, great plot twists and non-stop action. The plot just kept getting more intriguing. I'm really looking forward to the next one.
Flood Rising is an exciting new thriller from the combined minds of Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis. The story takes Jeremy and Sean’s familiar themes of mystery and suspense down a whole new and utterly intriguing path. Both authors have an extensive catalogue of thrilling stories involving Special Operations soldiers, science fiction/science gone wrong and espionage but not until now have they united these themes together to tell the story of a most unlikely protagonist...Jenna Flood, a 15 year old girl turned from an everyday beach bum teen to a confused victim and then ultimately into a heroine with a startling destiny. It’s difficult to accurately provide a detailed description of this story without giving away critical spoilers so I will not even attempt such an undertaking. What I will say is that there is action from the very opening chapter and, aside from a slower backstory flashback towards the center of the novel; the action never really lets up. At times you wonder how much more mayhem can be heaped upon this poor teenage girl but as each hit literally comes you become witness to Jenna’s growth as a heroine and her discovery and development of skills and abilities she never really knew she had until pressed upon to utilize them. Jenna goes from confused and scared to confident and controlling right before your eyes.
There are moments when the story reminded me a bit of the action thriller movie “Hannah” (which if you are familiar with that movie you will understand where I’m coming from as you read Flood Rising). There are also some common and currently popular science fiction/conspiracy themes that have made such programs as Orphan Black wildly popular. If you enjoy that type of entertainment then you will most certainly enjoy Flood Rising.
Overall the characters are strong, in particular the character of Jenna who is totally believable in her role. The writing style is fast paced and flows rather easily Admittedly early on I felt that some elements of the story were predictable and some of the science can get a bit deep to the point of confusing but never did that predictability or the scientific premises take away from the overall enjoyment of the novel. Towards the end, however, the story takes one twist and then another turn that I honestly didn’t see coming…surprises that I wouldn’t qualify as shocking but still exciting none the less. The ending, to me, served to ramp up the action and leave this reader with the hope for future adventures featuring young Miss Jenna Flood. As a disclaimer I will state that I was given an advance copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review…which I feel I have provided. I will also say that even with a free advance copy I still went and purchased my own copy for my library. Flood Rising is exciting, enjoyable entertainment and a bold new direction for two established thriller authors.
Flood Rising by Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis is a fast action thriller that leaves one gasping for breath and anticipating the next book in the series. Jenna Flood appears to be a typical teenage girl in the Florida Keys. She helps her dad, Noah Flood, on his charter fishing boat. One day while cleaning the boat after a charter she finds a cooler that one of their passengers left behind. The cooler sparks, literally, questions because the cooler has a bomb in it. Jenna and her dad barely make it out alive.
From this point forward Jenna is running. She is running to find the answer about who she is, who her dad is, and why she is the way she is. She is also running for her life. We follow Jenna through south Florida and the Keys as she evades a government hit squad and searches for answers. She thinks her dad has been killed and has only one friend to help her. She doesn’t know who to trust especially when her dad shows up and appears to be with those who are trying to kill her. Her path leads her to New Mexico where we begin to see answers.
Jenna is a remarkable girl. Not very credible for a typical teenager, but as the story progresses you find out what is happening and she becomes very credible. Noah is very credible as a protective, ex-military father, in fact, he is my favorite character.
This book would be a great read for those who like a lot of action, as well as those who like science and conspiracy theories. There is a lot of violence in it and yet I would recommend it for teens. Jenna is a good role model and although some of her decisions are questionable some of the hardest are made with reason and integrity.
I was privileged to receive a copy of this book from the author at no charge. However, I believe that my review is fair and accurate.
