STONE HARD SEALS A Duet of Steamy SEAL romance by NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Sabrina York
Book One: Ryder A hostage rescue mission turns Ryder “Stone” Maddox’s world on its ear when he comes face-to-face with his greatest fear: A woman he cannot resist. But he has to resist Lily Wilson. He’s vowed never to fall in love. Besides, as the daughter of a senator, she is definitely off-limits. Lily sees things differently. Irresistibly drawn to this hot, hard SEAL, she is determined to prove they belong together…and that her man does not have a heart of stone. (Originally published in the NYT and USA Today Bestselling Hot Alpha SEALs collection)
Book Two: Drake Drake Ronan is all man—a rock hard SEAL who doesn’t need help from anyone. Doesn’t need anyone. But when he’s shot during a dangerous rescue mission, and has to rely on a beautiful nurse to survive, he realizes he has to rethink his resolution. Suddenly he can’t imagine his life without Brandy in it. It’s a damn shame she has a secret that could ruin everything.
Fantastic book. Fast paced, funny, steamy, and intense. Lily is the daughter of a senator. She has been protected all her life, and when she finally seizes a chance to do something without her parents' okay, all hell breaks loose. The ship she's on with other aid workers is seized by pirates and she and the others are taken hostage. It's up to the SEALs to rescue them.
I loved both Lily and Stone. Because she's been so sheltered, Lily is just a little bit naive about the danger they could be facing. I thought she held up really well when they were captured, possibly because she didn't really know what could happen. She's also a bit stubborn and had a great sense of humor. Stone is super protective and determined to get her to safety. Besides keeping her safe from the pirates, he's also determined to protect her from himself. Because of his own family history, he is determined never to get involved with a woman. However, he's never had to deal with one like Lily.
There is a connection between them from the start. Not just attraction, which is off the charts as it is. Stone expects to have to deal with a spoiled princess, but Lily surprises him. Their escape across the island and to the next one is full of danger, but she handles it amazingly well. Stone is used to telling people what to do and not being questioned, but Lily always has something to say. I loved the way that she refused to accept half-answers and stood up to him until he cooperated. The heat between them continues to build, and Stone succumbs to a couple of really hot kisses. He immediately backs off, knowing that he's exactly wrong for someone like Lily. However, she doesn't see it that way. I loved seeing her go after him, leading to an experience unlike either have ever had, and deepening their connection.
Rescue comes, and Lily is reunited with her senator father on the navy ship. Not everyone has made it back, and the SEALs have to go back to extract another pair. I loved seeing the changes that have come over both Lily and Stone. Lily's determination to stay until Stone is back safely runs up against her father's will. I loved his reaction when she stated her intentions. I also loved Stone's actions when he got back. I liked that this wasn't a case of instant love, but they care enough to want to see where it goes.
Book 2: Drake
This is a partner to Book 1, Ryder's story, and takes place at the same time. The team has been called in to participate in the rescue of some aid workers who have been taken by Somali pirates. Drake has just been assigned to Ryder's team and it isn't going well. Drake and Ryder have some history. They grew up together, both sons of SEALs, whose fathers were killed at the same time. Drake is a bit younger than Ryder and always looked up to him, even to the point of joining the SEALs. Drake has a bad boy attitude combined with little boy charm and has perfected the use of both.
Brandy is one of the aid workers who was captured and is Lily's best friend. She has plenty of street smarts and knows the trouble they are in. She isn't someone who is content to sit back and wait for rescue, so she is on the lookout for opportunities to escape.
I loved the relationship that Brandy and Drake had right from the beginning. Drake considers himself something of a super SEAL, and isn't exactly thrilled when Brandy knocks him down when he arrives in her hut. He is, however, quite attracted to her. Brandy feels the same attraction, but really isn't happy about it. Her one rule in life is "No SEALs". Her first real boyfriend was a SEAL who had pursued her because he thought it would be a way to advance his career, as her father was a SEAL commander. She has since painted all military men with the same brush. It doesn't help that she hasn't seen her father since she was twelve and he left the family. When Drake is shot in their escape attempt, Brandy goes into nurse mode to take care of him.
I loved their interactions. Drake is ticked because this mission, which he hoped would prove to Ryder that he deserved to be on his team, has been one SNAFU after another. He got shot in the butt, missed the extraction timeline because of it, and is now trapped on the island because of it. Plus, because of his injury, he's no longer the one in charge. It was fun to see Brandy take control, doing the things that he feels he should be doing. Drake has a tendency to pout and try to use his charm to get his way and Brandy doesn't succumb to any of it. Stuck in each other's company with little to do but talk, Brandy begins to see that not all SEALs are alike. I loved seeing her discover Drake's insecurities and try to show him that he's wrong. The attraction between them also grows to the point where they can't help but give in to it. Just when they think they have a shot at getting away, they are caught again, and again as they attempt another escape. Drake is furious at himself, feeling that he has failed Brandy, and that he'll never get Ryder's approval now. Brandy's own protectiveness has been running nonstop, and I loved seeing her stand up to the pirates with her need to take care of Drake and his injuries.
I loved their rescue and seeing the reactions of the various team members, especially since they know something about her that he doesn't. There's a bit of tension when one of the other team members is hurt, and it's Drake whose stubbornness provides what is needed, even though he's injured himself. The best part of the story comes after they are back on the ship. Drake discovers who Brandy's father is and has to make a decision. I also loved Brandy's reaction to "the code". It's really funny to see Drake stand up for his relationship to Brandy, especially since he's under the influence of some pretty strong painkillers at the time. Seeing history repeat itself was just the icing on the cake.
I liked the epilogue, showing the two couples a year later. The scene is a get together at Lily and Ryder's house, involving the whole team. I loved seeing how happy Ryder and Lily are. There is also no doubt of the heat that is still burning between Drake and Brandy. He has a wonderfully romantic, though slightly awkward, big moment with her that culminates in a surprise for her and an even bigger one for him.
I can't wait to read more about these team members.
Stone Hard SEALs is two books in one. I will be reviewing each book individually.
Book 1: Ryder
4.5 stars
Hotness Rating 3 out of 5
I loved, loved, loved this story. It's short enough to read over just a couple of hours, but packed with so much witty banter, heartfelt emotion, and sexy SEAL that you never feel rushed or cheated. Seriously, these characters are so well-developed you feel like you actually know them. Like they are old friends. I honestly have no idea how Ms. York pulls this off in a novella, but she does. Even more exciting it ushers in a new Alpha SEALS series. I can't wait!
Ryder "Stone" Maddox is one of my favorite heroes. Faced with the unbearably difficult task of leading his platoon in a rescue mission for some pretty high profile people who were abducted by Somalian pirates is just another day at the office, but fighting this attraction and need he feels for his target just may do him in.
Lily Wilson has lived a very sheltered life. As the daughter of a senator she may have well just been wrapped in wool and packed away she's been so protected. That's why a mission trip to Ethiopia seemed like a grand adventure and she jumped at the chance. Just her luck, the first time she's ever done anything without her parents blessing she gets abducted by Pirates. She's optimistic all will be okay in the end and is doubly reassured when her guardian angel, in the form of Navy SEAL Stone Maddox, comes to her rescue. Stone does more than rescue her, however. He shows her that she can feel passion and a sizzling attraction. Now, she just had to convince him to act on it.
There are few authors that can write such funny, laugh out loud stories and never lose the heat and desire. I checked my kindle for smoke or burn marks after finishing this book. Lily and Stone's attraction was that palpable. Stone often spoke in sarcasm and I love that in my men. Even better Lily gave as good as she got. She was naive and protected, but tough, smart (even if a bit airheaded at times), and a fighter. This couple was made for each other.
She paled, "I c-cant swim".
"You never wanted to learn?"
"Oh, I wanted to" she sighed. "My mother wouldn't let me. She was afraid I would drown."
"Not drowning is kind of the point of swimming."
See? Sarcasm at its best! I do so love Sabrina York and her smart, yet funny dialogue.
Book Two: Drake
4.5 stars
Hotness Rating 3 out of 5
I have to start out by saying I couldn't wait for Drake's story after finishing Ryder's story. I had to know Drake's take on the events leading up to the rescue. More importantly I wanted to get to know this cocky, brash, character better. Ms. York did not disappoint. I loved Drake! Heck, I loved Brandy!
Drake tried so hard to get Ryder's approval and had really hoped that this mission would help him do it when all of his past achievements hadn't seemed to get his attention. Unfortunately, that doesn't seemed to be in the cards. If anything could go wrong in this mission it did big time. Get foiled trying to save the girl? Check. Get shot? Check. Miss getting to the extraction site on time? Check. Thank goodness the woman he was tasked with rescueing is all kinds of badass even if it does hurt his ego a bit.
Brandy has sworn off one thing in her "take-no-prisoners, live life to the fullest" lifestyle. And that is no SEALs. She learned this lesson the hard way when her first "real" boyfriend used her thinking a connection with her father, the commander, would help him further his naval career. Little did he know that their is no love lost between her and her father. So, when she finds herself stranded with an injured SEAL and she finds him all kinds of drool-worthy she is questioning her sanity. But, the more time she spends with Drake the more she finds that her feelings aren't just a result of adrenaline and fear.
I really, really liked this couple. For one, this is not your normal SEAL story. Drake was injured and not at anything near his best. Hell, Brandy had to save his butt more than once. Brandy was a take-charge, tough chick that did what needed to be doing while keeping a level head. Yet, I loved that she didn't ever try to make Drake feel like less of a man for all that she did. She was supportive and protective without emasculating Drake. Drake was all that I expected of him. He was such a smartass, but in a fun, cocky way. Yes, it hurt his ego and worked on him a bit that he wasn't able to be the big hero in this scenario, but he was man enough to know when he had to accept help. Like I said, I loved this couple!
Ms. York didn't let me down with her witty dialogue. I swear I live to read what she'll write next.
"Why did you think I was lying on you?" "Um, because you like me?" She growled. Yeah. Growled. "They would have seen you." "They would have seen me? So you laid on top of me? Did that make me invisible?"
Yep, I totally dig Drake's quick wit courtesy of the awesome Sabrina York.
I really, really hope to read more about this SEAL team.
I received a free copy of Stone Hard Seal by Sabrina York, in exchange for an honest review. But then again, this story is so awesome I could never leave a negative review! My only problem was that I wanted it to last longer… *pout* It is another Hot Hot Hot novel by this amazing author, which tangles adventure (well it is about a seal!), romance (the said seal meets an “angel”) and two different worlds colliding! I like how Sabrina wrote and described very well, the main characters. Each with their own burdens and insecurities, struggling to live with choices they do not like. And then..... Wowzers!!! I had already read Stone's story, though I happily reread it, so I have to admit that Drake's story was a very good continuation! The story begins from where Stone's has begun and it shows us a different aspect of this seal unit. We saw roles being reversed, from the previous story and lots of funny moments. The heat was off the roof and the surprises kept coming till the very end! I had guessed a thing or two while the story flowed, but that didn't stop me from loving it!
It was an amazing read and I highly recommend it, to those that like adventure with romance!
Stone Hard SEALs is one wildly hot, heart stopping, breath catching, adventurous duet that is a must read.
I had the chance to read Ryder and Lilly's story when it came out in the Alpha Hot SEALs box set. Ryder is part of the SEAL team that is sent to an island to rescue Lilly and her friends that were kidnapped by pirates. Ryder and Lilly are forced to work together to escape from the island. As they work together and get to know each other quickly they form an instant connection. Their intense chemistry leads to some steaming hot moments while they are in the process of escaping the island.
Sabrina York is awesome at writing those massively steamy hot scenes that just about melts my kindle while I am reading. She also has a tremendous talent of writing an wild adventure that left me breathless wondering how these two were going to escape this island and make it to safety.
There is plenty of suspense, drama, twists, and turns in both Ryder and Lilly's story and Drake and Brandy's story.
Drake is also sent to the island to rescue Brandy (a friend of Lilly's) from the pirates that held them captive. However Drake is injured in the process of evacuating with his team and is left behind with Brandy. As luck would have it though Brandy is a nurse. Thank goodness, Drake is in desperate need of her nursing skills. These two are cute together and have a interesting relationship. They both are a little on the stubborn side and Drake is just a little bit OK maybe more then a little cocky. He is the hot macho SEAL, that at first is everything Brandy believes him to be. As they get to know each other, they find they have more in common then they thought possible. They have an instant connection that quickly to flammable. Ohhhh how these two do not set those bushes on fire with their chemistry will forever remain a mystery to me.
As with Ryder and Lilly, Drake and Brandy are in terrible danger they try to escape the island. Just as I would think they might be safe something horrible would happen and they would be in danger or kidnapped again! Oh yeah there is one other small thing that makes their relationship just a little more complicated. I don't want to tell you what so I'll let you go grab your copy NOW and find out.
Stone Hard SEALs is a fabulous duet of stories that are a must read for fans of steaming hot adventure stories. I could not put either story down and finished both in one setting each.
I was given the opportunity to read these great stories so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on Stone Hard SEALs.
Oh, BTW the F-BOMB is all through this book so if you can’t take the swearing then this book is not for you.
So, Stone and his men jump out of an airplane, have a firefight with pirates, a couple of men get shot, Stone is hit by a ricochet and passes out. And then the fun begins. With him unconscious Lily has no choice but to THINK. I was thinking, at first, that she was just going to be a blonde bimbo but she wasn’t. She thought some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever read. Then when Stone woke up and they ate a meatloaf MRE’s he buried the empty package in the sand she was hoping that a MRE tree wouldn’t grow. I started picturing a tree full of MRE’s standing there and it just struck me as funny.
Of course, Stone wanted her with a passion but tried to stay away from her but she told him she was cold, when she was supposed to be sleeping, so he begrudgingly laid down beside her “clenching his muscles, so he didn’t accidently roll over and f**k her, or something.” I thought that was hysterical.
This first story was sweet and funny and I enjoyed it immensely.
Book 2: Drake
As I was hoping, this one was just as funny as the other one. Drake and Brandy had some funny conversations. They were a little immature at times but still had me laughing out loud. Brandy was just the opposite of Lily. She was very brave, which irritated Drake to no end. And she had somewhat of a fiery temper. She didn't take any of his crap. I really liked Brandy's attitude. LOL.. Brandy is Commander Brandywine's daughter and Drake is scared to death when he finds out but he's high on pain-killers when that conversation comes about. Too funny.
And it was especially funny when Drake puked on Commander Brandywine’s highly polished shoes, again.
This sex in this book was very steamy, for both Stone/Ryder and Lily and Drake and Brandy. So, you’ve been warned.
Received an ARC copy from the author for honest review
I enjoyed this story so much, I'm still wearing a big grin on my face. I loved the banter between Drake & Brandy. They reminded me of an old married couple even though they had just met. I could almost see myself & my hubby in this story, and isn't that what makes good story telling? When you lose yourself in the pages and you become the character? I highly recommend this smexxy tale!!
Fav quote:
Life was meant to be lived. It was far too short to have any regrets. There were too many adventures to be had to play it safe.
Love it! Stone Hard SEALs by Sabrina York is a fantastic read. Sabrina once again delivers a well written story with great characters, a bit of humor and snark, action and oh let's not forget the steamy bits. As an added bonus, it's actually two stories. This is a complete book, no cliff-hanger! I can't wait to see what Sabrina turns out next.
Book One: Ryder A hostage rescue mission turns Ryder “Stone” Maddox’s world on its ear when he comes face-to-face with his greatest fear: A woman he cannot resist. But he has to resist Lily Wilson. Irresistibly drawn to this hot, hard SEAL, she is determined to prove they belong together…and that her man does not have a heart of stone. This SEAL Military Romance is a two-installments in one book, newly released from Sabrina York. I purchased and read book 1 (Ryder) as part of the bestselling mega box set Hot Alpha SEALs Collection released in July 2014. Now, with a new story from another of the team, York has released the two story set in one hot new release!
Ryder: Book 1 - 5 Stars A mission to save hostages from Somali pirates off the western coast of Africa is the set up for the mission. Teams were dropped onto the island under cover of a moonless night, Ryder (Stone) Maddox and his team are instantly in the thick of a rescue. This isn’t an ordinary rescue, among the party is Lily Wilson, a powerful senator’s daughter and Susan Brandywine, the daughter of the team’s commanding officer. Ideal targets for ransom, were these pirates of the ‘normal’ Somali pirate variety. But, they are a renegade band: untrained, undisciplined and utterly despicable.
I adored Stone, with his alpha protectiveness and determination to get Lily to safety, even as he worried about and for his team. His history after his own father’s death on a mission was tragic and completely explained his reluctance to get involved. Even more amusing was Lily’s refusal to spend time with him without asking questions, pushing and prodding for answers with a determined jut of her chin.
Lily was far less the coddled complaining princess than I expected, although she had been rolled in cotton wool from her birth, and not experienced much difficulty, she was determined and complaint-free through a grueling ordeal. It didn’t hurt that she was funny and stubborn, and unwilling to let Stone get away with half-answers or silence. Together the two were super steamy and incredibly sexy: their attraction was palpable and the inclusion of both Stone and Lily giving voice to their innermost feelings as they finally connected gave readers a reason to cheer them on for a happy ever after. But, Stone’s own reluctance to commit will run against the pint-sized brick wall of will that is Lily, and only reading to the end will tell you who wins.
And, filled with her lighthearted moments in the middle of all the action, York again brings a lightness and joy to her characters that define them, often better than words. “She smacked him. It was like being batted by a kitten.”
Drake: Book 2 5 Stars
Brandy is a nurse, and a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Her own history and knowledge, with a touch of daring, makes her a wonderful character: unwilling to be a passive participant in her rescue. Drake is desperately trying to be ‘in charge’ but for the most part, Brandy just ignores him. She’s not fond of military men, Navy in particular, as her first real love was a man using her for advancement in his career. Oh, did I mention that her father is the commander in charge of the SEALs? Or that Brandy is convinced that he abandoned her at 12, and hasn’t seen him since?
With the initial extraction resulting in Drake’s being shot in the arse (yes, he insists leg by Brandy, when removing the bullet and bandaging the wound knows differently) they need to find a safe place to hide and wait before heading to the south part of the island. Not only do the two find the sparks are electric and the small cove they are hiding in is barely large enough for them both. With hours to kill and little to do but wait, they start to explore this attraction.
I loved these two – Drake is consumed with his ‘not being enough’ for Ryder, and the struggle to make Ryder and the team see he’s a worthy member. Brandy starts out thinking that Drake is little more than a gung-ho military man, with little ability to see past the next mission. After being used for her connections to the commander, she isn’t about to explain who she is lest Drake see her as another step on the ladder to career enhancement. She’s very forthright, almost masculine in her clear-eyed assessment of situations and her ability and willingness to take chances to assure their comfort, raiding the piles of luggage and supplies near the sleeping pirates to grab clothing, water and food.
There’s a touch of little boy lost in Drake: handsome and charming, he uses his not insubstantial stores of both to charm and disarm, although Brandy isn’t often falling for it. He resorts to pouts and childish facial expressions that are as endearing as frustrating. Together the two are amusing with rapid fire snark and capitulation and the battle to see just who runs the relationship. Told in alternating perspectives, we see the secrets both are trying to hide, their reactions and feelings for one another and see the caring as those secrets are ultimately revealed, baring their own vulnerabilities.
With a lovely conclusion and a pair of boots in desperate need for another cleaning (just what is it with those military men and their footwear?) this read will leave a smile and have you searching through the author’s title for another read.
I purchased a copy of the title for my own library. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility
4.5 out of 5 stars “I have not a read a story by Sabrina York that I did not like and I usually LOVED it. This one is no exception. I loved Stone Hard SEAL. She has hit another home run!”
That is how I started my review of Sabrina York’s contribution to the Hot Alpha SEALs collection last year. This year, she is releasing it together with the follow-up story I have been waiting a year for. Finally, Drake’s story is here, together with Ryder’s story.
RYDER
This is a lovely story about a girl - Lily - wanting to find her place in the world. She is an engaging, wide eyed, optimist who has been overprotected by her political family but wants adventure. I adored Lily. She is someone I want for a friend. Where those in the book found her optimism irritating, I loved it. Of course that may be because I tend to be optimistic myself so I could really identify with her. The way she jumped into her adventure with both feet . . . Oh to be that young again. I thoroughly enjoyed going on this adventure with Lily!
Let's not forget her hunk of a tour guide - Ryder "Stone" Maddox. *sigh* So hot! No wonder Lily fell for him. I love how she stood up to him and wouldn't let him be all stoic and self-sacrificing. These career special ops kind of guys just get so caught up in the "mission" they have to be reminded why they are on the "missions" to begin with. Good job Lily! You lucky girl, you!
DRAKE Brandy is Lily’s best friend. She tends to be domineering and overprotective. Does that sound like anyone we know? Brandy is also deliciously snarky – a Sabrina York heroine trade mark. Of course, considering who her father is . . .
Drake is, of course, the hunky, hot, “squid” hero. What made him stand out for me is the fact that he was even snarkier than Brandy. I loved it! He also had some inferiority complex when it came to Ryder. The snark was often used to cover for that. Made him very human. I definitely fell in love with him. *sigh*
This story repeats some of the beginning of the first story, so you can get away with reading them at different times. But these boys and girls are so fun that you will want to read what happens with each.
These were very well done stories that grabbed me and held me hostage. If you haven't read a Sabrina York story yet, and you have a weakness for hot Navy Seals, you really need to read this. You will be very glad you did!
Stone Hard SEALs by Sabrina York is a fantastic read. Ms. York once again delivers a well-written story with great characters, a bit of humor and snark, action and oh let's not forget the steamy bits. As an added bonus, it's actually two stories. This is a complete book, no cliff-hanger! I can't wait to see what Sabrina turns out next.
When the dedication of a book makes you laugh, you know you're in for a good read. Sabrina York didn't disappoint in Hot SEALs: Herding Cat. I absolutely loved this book! Ms. York, as always, delivered a well-written book. The characters are amazing and fun to read. Hot SEALs: Herding Cat is loaded with drama, action, sizzle and humor. Never a dull moment. I enjoyed Herding Cat and look forward to Ms. York's next release. Hot SEALs: Herding Cat is a short read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
The Omega Team: Hot Rod by Sabrina York is amazing. Ms. York has weaved the characters in this book into a story you can't put down. Hot Rod is a quick read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. I loved Matt and Sam's story from cover to cover. Sabrina York has delivered awesome. lovable characters, added in drama, action, humor and sizzle that will keep the pages turning. I loved this book and can't wait to read more from Sabrina York in the future. The Omega Team: Hot Rod is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Hell Yeah!: Gun Shy by Sabrina York is a well written, smooth read. This is a quick read but don't be fooled by it's length. Packed between the covers of this book is an amazing story. Andrew and Melissa's story has drama, suspense, action, sizzle and humor. Ms. York's characters, as always, are perfect for this wonderful story. I enjoyed every word of Gun Shy and look forward to my next read by Sabrina York. Gun Shy is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I read each of these books individually. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Yep, my kind of romance. I love an alpha male who fights just as hard for his woman as he does for his country. The stories are about a Seals Team sent to recover hostages taken by pirates. The team leader, Ryder, and one of the team members, Drake, were childhood friends. In the rescue Ryder finds himself the object of affection of Lily, a senator's daughter. While Lily tries to get to know Ryder, Drake finds himself left behind with one female hostage, Brandy. Drake and Brandy struggle to survive in hostile territory while they explore a growing attraction for one another. Wonderful books, both of them.
Sabrina York gave us Two Hot Seals in one sitting, each story from the same mission. The first story is "Stone" saving Lily and the second story is Drake saving Brandy. You will love the twist of this Seal mission told from 4 friends points of view. If you love alpha military guys, Sabrina York has a great mission for you.
Stone Hard SEALs is two books in one. Both books are about a Navy SEAL mission to rescue captives from Somalian pirates taken in the Indian Ocean. They are not only on the same SEAL team but grew up together after both of their SEAL fathers were killed in the same mission.
Ryker "Stone" Maddox rescues Lily Wilson, the daughter of a United States Senator. Their intel is wrong and they find the captives in the compound at the north end of the island when they thought they would be to the south. Ryker and Lily find they can't keep their hands off each other before being rescued at the second pick-up point on a small island to the south of where they hostages were being held. The romance is intense and hot, the excitement and danger constant to make Ryker and Lily's story a great first book of the 'Stone Hard SEAls' series.
The second book tells how Drake and Brandy find each other and how they rescue each other when he is shot as they escape. Another great action couple in a situation full of danger and rescue. The humor and dialogue made both books a very enjoyable read.
WOW there are two stories in this book. First you get to meet Ryder and than Drake.
Ryder is tasked to rescue a group of individuals who have been taken hostage. Things don't go according to plan and he is on the run with Lily Wilson. He is instantly attracted to her but fights it due to it being a mission. Lily is a very positive person and is positively interested in Ryder and doesn't let a little thing like being hunted persuade her from trying to get close to Ryder. These two were off the charts HOT.
The next book deal with Drake and Brandy. Lily and Brandy are best friends. Drake is also a SEAL who is the newbie on Ryder team and also life long friend and little brother. Drake spends a lot of the book trying to solve their problems and worrying what Ryder is going to say. Unlike Lily, Brandy is a realist. She is courageous and doesn't take things sitting down. I liked the two of them as a couple. They were both hard and soft when they needed to be.
Stone was on a mission to save five hostages. The one he found was Lily. Lily had always lead a sheltered life. So when she lot a look at who had saved her her thoughts turned to lust. Stone and Lily are running from the pirates who had taken over their ship. Mason was a member of Stone's squad. He rescued Brandy. While trying to get her to the pickup site, he was shot. Luckily Brandy was a nurse and knew what to do removed the bullet. While hiding in a cave they turned to each other and sparks began to fly. The pirates managed to capture them again. This required Brandy to remove another bullet.. Will they get saved?
Both stories introduce the team in the middle of action. Ryder and Drake were not into relationships as this would affect their job. That is until they met Lily and Brandy. I loved these determined women. Lily was an optimist, always on the sunny side of things, at the beginning of her story. With all that she had to endure, she accepted that life did have down sides. Brandy was a nurse and helped keep Drake alive while he tried to rescue her. Both men were very alpha but found that they could rely on others.
Oh My Goodness! I was ready to give this book a five star rating before I was done with the first story! First off you have Stone and Lily. He is sent in to rescue her and they fall for each other. Then comes Drake and Brandy and these two are made for each other! She is a spitfire and Drake is such a smart ass it’s a fun book to read. Definitely reading more in this series!!
Meeting Stone and Lily in book one was exciting and this author was able to keep reader glued to book one and the story line of vicious pirites who will kill. Book two meeting Drake and Brandy same ,hard to put book down the love and commitment demonstrated by these SEALS is dramatic and this talented author continues to make me a follower
These first two books in the series set the tone for the remaining action packed adventures of the Stone Hard Seals. Stories are loaded with action and thrills as the Seals rescue kidnapped Americans and fall in love by the time everyone returns home to the States.
There was all the Seal intensity that I love. However the story ended too soon for me. I would have liked to see the Team members introduced a little deeper so my interest in the series would be stronger. Yes, I did enjoy the stories.
I loved these two stories. They both are written with so much humour even though the situation was clearly a serious one. I can't wait to read more from this author. So good.
This was two action packed romances that will make you fall in love with both couples. The stories take place at the same time and in the same environment but are different enough you don't feel like you're rereading anything.
A well written perfectly paced story pulling you in from the start. Here is the story of two SEALs and missions and how they came about and ended. Both Ryder and Drake are on the same team. There is enough action to keep you turning the pages and both are quick reads.
Free via Bookbub. 2.5 stars - don’t believe I want to read anymore. Ryder & Drake = two heros. Lily & Brandy their loves, respectively. Some humor in 2nd story was a nice touch. Will delete.
