Let Eric's words bring you peace, understanding, and a renewed perspective on the journey of life and beyond."
Crossing the Bridge into the Afterlife by Robert Eric Johnston “The stream in which all of you will cross is merely a stream—a stream that carries you from one state to another. For when your eyes dim and close for their final rest, you will see all of those whom you have loved. All of those whom you may have forgotten, you will instantly recognize. All those who have loved animals; the animals will be there to meet you. Familiar faces of family will be there, smothering you with love and with the celebration that you have lived your life, and the world has served its benign purpose." I saw the sweet features of my dear wife. As my body failed, I believed I was going to God's kingdom. As I closed my eyes in fear, I found peace. I saw my wife beckoning me into her arms in the strongest embrace that I have ever had. I realized then, that the pinch of pain was no more. I have observed many who have come and stepped across the stream. No one has ever fallen or been washed away. It is a simple step that will change your view for eternity—that the world in which you have loved is merely a step upon progress. The pain that one may feel is washed away. You will take a deep breath in, as truly this world takes your breath away. It is replaced with love and wonder. All answers are found, all mysteries are solved, grievances can be resolved, and grievances that are cut deeply are forgotten. It is truly a sight that you will witness, but you must be patient, for it is the sweetest part of the sting of death. Death is merely a word that has been placed for a life that has lived and now lives on. It is not used for judgment. It is not used for punishment. It is there as the basic fact that you live life after life, and this world in which you love is the shortest part of the journey. But the shortest path can cause you such pain and sorrow; it can also grant you much joy and happiness. In this short path, many may see war and suffering or find Heaven. This short step is a step that all must take, no matter how long or short you draw breath. You are here only for a moment. Treat it kindly; even a short life can leave such an impact that is felt beyond your years.”

As a skeptic of famous mediums, I had a hard time rating this one. I first heard of Scott Milligan on the podcast, Shades of the Afterlife. In the episode I heard Scott speak while in a trance state as, Eric. It’s episode 239 for those interested. I was skeptical, but also intrigued enough to read this book. I think we all want or wish to believe there’s something more than just death. I have also experienced enough in my own life with people who have passed away to contemplate that there must be something beyond life as we know it. Yet I will probably remain a skeptic due to my rational nature. I may be too rational for my own good.
This book will be interesting to those who don’t know much about mediumship, ideas on life after death and/or want reassurance in regard to an afterlife. This book may help many with grief and finding comfort in Eric’s words.
I admit I skimmed many pages because I wasn’t interested in certain questions asked to Eric. I’ve read and seen enough when it comes to life after death that I don’t have many questions left. I guess I still read a new book once in a while on the off chance I learn something new. Or finally have that “aha” moment we are all searching for.
One thing that I found weird was about pets. Eric stated that after death we will hear our pets galloping towards us and they will smother us in hugs. I have only owned birds in my adult life. Plus animals can’t hug. Well, monkeys and gorillas can. My point is I read that early on in the book and it rubbed me the wrong way.
I believe someone who has a more open mind than I will benefit from reading this. And anyone who’s scared of death or in the process of grieving may find comfort from Eric’s words. Sometimes confusing and long winded words. Majority of his responses reflect my own thoughts on life after death. So hopefully my skepticism will indeed be wrong.
