Jack Carter is in the fast lane A devilishly handsome man of many talents, Jack manages the Desert Sons clubhouse as its Vice-President and plays it fast and loose. With a different woman in his bed every week and none of them able to tie him down, Jack couldn’t be happier with his life.
Tina Harris likes to play dirty. A troubled youth since her days at foster care, Tina is a delinquent who’s seen her fair of trouble. Within days of violating her parole, she’s on the run from the police again. Wanted for armed robbery and multiple counts of grand theft auto, she needs a getaway ride--and fast.
When a theft goes wrong, the two find themselves in an unexpected position. When she tries and fails to steal a vintage Harley Davidson from an unmarked warehouse, things seem to go from bad to worse. Instead of dealing out vigilante justice, Jack recruits the young crook for a high stakes heist where failure is not an option...
The only thing is… he never expected Tina to steal something else from him—something he never thought she'd ever be able to steal.
This was a short quick read that I liked and wanted more of but when I went to amazon to get book 2 of this series I found out that the books are no loner on amazon. Jack Carter is VP of Desert Sons and he is a hot sexy manwhore. Tina Harris is caught trying to steal a vintage Harley Davidson instead of dealing out vigilante justice Jack recruits her for a job. These two get hot and heavy fast. This book was told from dual POV and I liked that about this book. I have read this author before and I was a little surprised that this book had typos in it. I am looking forward to reading book 2 of this series.
I know, I know I should check, I usually do but in all honesty I've been on a good run lately and I've got lazy so I didn't expect a cliffhanger which is a shame because I was enjoying this book until then, I just really hate unexpected cliffhangers I mean seriously how difficult is it to add a line to the blurb letting us know, anyway enough moaning. I enjoyed this book, I liked Tina which surprised me a bit because I wasn't sure from the description if I would but she's intelligent and street smart and her reasons for her life of crime are explained. I liked Jack as well, obviously after all I'm female, what made a nice change is that in most books like this the male character is always huge, the biggest they've ever seen, you know what I mean so it was a bit of a shock to discover that Jack who's a bit of a stud 'wasn't huge, but big enough' I'm giving 3 stars because I'm still annoyed about the unexpected cliffhanger and the 'fight' at the beginning of the book just seemed a bit contrived.
an interesting story for a biker read - sort of grand theft auto meets bonnie and clyde and the three books run on from one another so cliffhanger endings for books 1 & 2. I did like the writing style, the characters and the story. still need to pick up book 3 but def intend to do that soon to see how the story ends. the three books take place over a very short time frame and plenty happens
Basically, it’s about a girl who steals. She doesn’t want to steal, and claims she only steals to get by, but isn’t that why most people steal? From the beginning she commits grant theft auto twice to get away from being arrested for aggravated assault. (Two punches to a daughter of an officer) she also pulls a gun on the second cars owner, so she’s being a little stupid from the get go.
Then she breaks a window to a warehouse and shimmies her way in a little hole, eats their food, and goes to steal their motorbike. Owner finds her, lets her go, and she picks his pocket without his knowledge and tries to run. He finds her, brings her back and makes her pay for her destruction by working (cleaning) and asks her to show him how she pick pockets.
She’s super good at it, and they end up shagging as well. He gets some good idea that she can help him and his biker gang (thought all they do is ride every so often, they really just like to pull heists of extremely expensive cars, change the VIN numbers and sell them on) with their newest heist. Anyway, that’s basically the story, it’s not like there’s any crazies that go on. That’s literally it.
I liked it to the smallest degree, hence the extra star, but there's nothing really there. Maybe if consider the series as a three part book and maybe it’ll get somewhere. Because really, it ended in a stupid spot, but I’m not interested enough to continue. Nothing was intense enough in the romance, and the storyline was slightly boring. The only fun was that most stories aren’t like this, the female is usually a damsel and needs saving. Which I guess she does, but at the same time, she doesn’t. And that’s all there is, boring I know. But free all the same.
**This claims to be an MC romance, but really, this book is so short nothing is MC or romantic about it. Its just a few bits of sex with a guy who rides a motorbike with some other people who ride motorbikes.
This book had potential to be a really fascinating story. The plot was interesting. I wish there had been more character development though. Tina's background story was good. We didn't get much of Jack's background, though I suspect the following books would maybe add to his character development. The book is written from both POV. However, the books POV transitions left a lot to be desired and was a bit confusing at times. The sex scenes, while steamy, were also oddly written. Lots of action and flipping and she's here, he's there and then in the next sentence they aren't where I thought there were in the last sentence. I'm quite able to use visualization while reading a book, but this had me stumped quite a few times. Yep, sex can be "savage" (overuse of this word) sometimes, but this was just plain confusing.
I also couldn't get past the lack of proofreading or editing in the kindle edition. Oh. My. Gah. Who made sure this book was ready for publishing?? They should be fired. Double words, incorrect word usage, extra letters. I expect to see one, maybe two errors in a kindle edition (though, seriously, there should be no errors, IMO, if you are publishing a book period.) but this was more than that and enough to just be annoying.
I don't think I would pick up the next book in this series despite the cliffhanger in this book. I'd like to know what happened, but I just didn't care for the author's writing style.
I liked this one...it was kind of a cool free sample of a different type of biker book. Yes, there is romance, there is action, there are illegal activities...but there are also some sweet moments and an unusual twist to the story. Tina is an ex-con who breaks into the wrong place, while trying to escape some trouble she got herself into, that could land her back in jail...and meets Jack, an MC VP who happens to live in the clubhouse she hides in. It is NOT love at first sight and they go through an entertaining and fun process getting to know each other before they discover they have way more in common...leading to the events that leave us with a big cliffhanger. I really hate being left hanging...and the little teaser at the end of the book is designed to make you want to buy the next one. A short, sexy but action-packed first part of a new series.
Es una lectura sencilla y fácil, los personajes son sencillos, me gusta Tina tiene una fuerza interior y me gusta su personalidad, Jack es sexy y solo espero que estos dos puedan seguir juntos
"Jack of Hearts", first in the Desert Sons MC series, gets off to a promising start as ex-con Tina Harris takes to her heels after defending herself successfully in a pub brawl in New Mexico. Her problem is that the beatdown she delivered twice with a few minutes had the daughter of a local cop at the receiving end of her fists. And Tina is still on probation! Her bad day keeps getting worse and ends with her breaking into what she figures is an isolated chop shop so she can get some sleep. While exploring the premises she finds an old but perfectly restored Harley Davidson. It calls to her, so much so that she attempts to steal it. She doesn't realise it immediately but things just took a very drastic downturn. It's Jack Carter's bike. He's Vice-President of the Desert Sons MC ... and he's right behind her with a gun! After that the book follows a predictable course but with some interesting twists - particularly when it comes to her party trick. There's a lot of energetic sex as the story progresses. It's very nicely done, the heist was a great idea, and the ending, while not quite a cliff-hanger, does set things up nicely. 3.5 Stars, reduced to 3 Stars - it's good for an MC book, but it's too short to be a candidate for 4 Stars.
Not really sure how I felt about this one. Tina has had a troubled past, on her way to trying to get her life together, she gets into it with a cop's daughter and runs, and just piles more bad decisions on top of the bad decisions from her past.
She meets Jack after trying to steal from him, and he opts to give her another chance. Once he realizes what she can do (criminally), he asks her to help him and his group of friends out with a heist. Of course before that they have lots of sex.
There was some typos and other errors along the way, and I was a bit surprised to find that the story was incomplete and ended with a cliffhanger. Not sure I'm going to read to find out what happens, at least not now.
Jack of Hearts (Desert Sons MC #1) By: Kathryn Thomas 3/5 stars
Tina is a woman on parole after paying with a year of her life for the crimes she has committed. But it’s hard being an ex-con, trying to find a job, a place to live, a car and just catching a break in general. Who would you believe a civilian or an ex-con?
Jack is the Vice President of the Desert Sons MC. He catches Tina trying to steal a Harley after she broke into the clubhouse. After having a tussle with her, he thinks that her criminal skills could be of use to him and the club.
After showing off her skills, the club decides to take her into consideration, because no one really knows her well enough to trust her. They don’t know if she can or will do the job and then they have to trust that she will keep her mouth shut.
For me, I liked the premise of the story, but there wasn’t enough character development. I did like Tina’s backstory but virtually we were just given a basic description of everyone else. There seemed to be (at least to me) details that were just glossed over that could have helped hold a greater interest or at least made several aspects more realistic in my mind instead of causing questions and greater shadows of doubt and bigger holes in the storyline.
The book is fairly short and a quick enough read, but is left on somewhat of a cliffhanger. It gets to a point where it feels like books are left shorter with a cliffy in order to sell more books. I prefer full length novels, with a well thought out plot and little pointers that are the glue to hold your story together. But since this book was free, I picked it up. It was also difficult to discern when the author switched between Tina and Jack's POVs. They were unlabeled and it happened sometimes during the same scene without a degree of separation, so sometimes I'd have to read back over the lines to figure out who was talking.
I was a good book, just too many little things that added up to bigger problems that my brain focused on instead of being completely in to the story. I liked the book & the characters & will more than likely get the next book in the series.
This was a good story but I wouldn't have pegged it for an MC book, not even a little bit. The Desert Sons don't act at all like your typical MC, they are just a close group of friends that get together on the weekends and hang out. Yeah they have a jacking car operation but really that's it. Hell the President of the club acts more like a regular member than the damn head of the club, Jack, the VP, is the one that makes all the decisions, plans everything and makes the most money...that 'club' needs to get their priorities straight.
Now, if we pretend the author didn't slap the genre of MC onto this book, and this was a regular contemporary erotica, this was actually a pretty good read. Tina has had a hard time of it, though she has made a bunch of stupid decisions in her life that led her to Jack. I thought she was a little to forthcoming a little to quickly with her life story when Jack asked for it, which is strange for a female, we're usually a bit more guarded with our secrets but Tina just tells her shit to anyone who'll listen.
Jack said over and over again that Tina reminded him of someone, it wasn't until close to the end that we find out its an old girlfriend. Its implied that there's more to the story but we never get to it so its a bit frustrating not having that background information, though its mentioned various times throughout the story. The connection between him and Tina leads to thoughts of this old girlfriend, but that's all that's said. The sex is scorching hot though...
Some might classify this as a cliffhanger and I guess it sort of is but I wouldn't say its a huge, I need to purchase the next book or I'll die, type of cliffhanger. The heist is planned, carried out and celebrated. Its during the celebration that something falls through but basically the meat of the story is told and you are not left wanting, its a comfortable ending, at least for me it was.
Tina I loved her she's just a likable person even if she does illegal crap, and when she's with Jack you see a different side of her, "she smiled in the darkness as he moved in close to her back, tucked his knees behind hers, and pulled her into a comfortably tight spoon. "No. As comfortable as the couch is, this is better." She's adorable when she asks Jack for things, "oh," Tina said in mock disappointment. "Can we go for a ride, not on the bikes, first?" she asked, and he heard the smile in her voice." I wasn't expecting the ending, I mean the cliffhanger wasn't bad.
A first from this author for me and I was not disappointed. What a book. Jack and Tina are great characters. Tina has had a harsh start to her life and trying to turn her life around. She has to fall on her old ways to make a fresh start after a mishap in a bar. Tina stumbles and tries to rob Jack and gets caught. Jack takes her in and makes her work of her damage. The pair grow on each other and find that they are rather similar. One big heist and it will be all over and they will be set for life. But as always things don't go as planned. Brilliant book and highly recommended
Okay........ you hardly evaaaah find me giving a book a 2. Well, the heroine is a little trouble-maker and I just couldn't get into this book. Jack is out of his league and finds himself in all kinds of trouble because of her.
Yes, it's spicy and all that, but I like myself an "in control" alpha......... what can I say.
Great writing by Kathryn Thomas and I will not let this book keep me from reading more of her books because she does have a great imagination.
I am a fan of MC books, hence why I chose to read this one. It begins in an unconventional way, which was intriguing for me. I really enjoyed this book - so much so that I bought the others in this series. I didn't want this book to end. I really liked the storyline, the suspense, the chemistry between the two main characters, and the writing. I devoured this book in one sitting, and it definitely left me wanting more.
WOW I just finished reading this book, and I love it now I can't wait to read the next book, I love the characters, I just love the book don't know what else to say, all I could say is that this book is different from the other books of mc that I read before.
I really liked this. Looking forward to reading the second one. Jack is a ladies man. But something about Tina calms him and drives him wild. She is sexy and spunky he likes that she never gives up even if she is in a bad situation.

Really liked this story with the exception of it being a cliffhanger. Storyline was entertaining, funny, hot and had some unusual twists. Characters had steamy passion and made me smile while reading. Would recommend.
It wasn't your usual MC book. But it was a fun light read that could have used a smoother transition in how the POV'S changed. I have to say though that the author could have used a good beta or editor to proofread the story. But overall it was an okay read for me.
good start...fast and the furious meets gone in 60 seconds
I thought this was a good start to a series. I wasn't sure where the story was going but once you get into it, it becomes clearer. Lovin Jack and can't wait to read the next one!
Tina is an ex con who breaks into the Desert Sons motorcycle club. Jack is VP and catches her. Now he's having her work around the club to pay for the window she busted. Jack talks her in to helping with a heist. Good story. Flaming desires. Cliffhanger.
It was a good enough read interesting story line but I just wasn't totally invested in the book. The sex scenes I started skimming over. Interesting concept just fell short for me.
Took to long to find the angle it was going in. And Jack seemed to ignore the signs. Really a back country road and a mud fight should have known in LV when Seth was asking to many ?
