I loved this book! I read it before it was all combined into one book, and let me tell you, I couldn’t wait for the next installment. Now, you don’t have to wait. The entire story is bound together. What can I tell you about this fantastic book by Kathryn Perez? I can tell you it’s hot! There’s a strong heroine and super sexy hot, alpha hero. There’s a complicated, layered storyline that keeps you guessing until the end. And most importantly, you will have a huge smile on your face from the beginning to the end. Oh...did I mention HOT? Something that stood out for me was how Kathryn took a storyline that began totally physical and made it into so much more. I enjoyed every moment I spent with Candace and Brisban. I know you will too. One click this baby NOW.
The title does not do justice to the story, not because it lacked of it. But because the whole story was more to it than just sex. It was good and fun. And that twist, I felt it coming but still, surprised me. Hahaha
I love every character in here. Candace, how she was represented here. I find it kind refreshing than the one see and heard from other books. I see a smart and sexy woman. And there's Brisbane who's candor is so real. Left me blushing to death. Janette, good gosh. I love her as much as Candace does to death. And also how...
It was such a sexy and fun novella read that'll leave you giddy.
This book was terrible. Really boring and terrible.
I happened to be scrolling through my Facebook account and an author I really like posted about this series saying how good it was (5 stars at that). Because it was coming from her I thought I would give it a try. What a mistake! I saw reviews about how good the book was and how it was so much more than sex. Excuse me? Not really. Is there a story? Yes. Is it a good one? No. It was just boring. Even the sex scenes were boring....how is that possible? They just went on and on and on....I started skimming through them, which says a lot. The book seems like an excuse for the author to write a lot of sex scenes...and she threw a poorly written, totally unbelievable, sleepy love story in there to try to make it legitimate.
Skip this one. It is not good at all.
(Needless to say, I won't be listening to that author's recommendations anymore. Maybe it was a marketing ploy?)
Wow, I actually fell in love with these three novellas. The way Candance and Brisbane met was quite exciting and full of fun. I enjoyed that they were older and had already experi need s much in their lives when they met. The way their relationship developed made me swoon. There were some twists and turns that kept it interesting. Of course they were novellas so things seemed to happen quickly but it still made me feel. What else could a girl ask for?
This is the first book by Ms. Perez that I have read. The characters are very well developed and the storyline is very interesting to say the least. The sexual chemistry between the characters is so intense that it pulls you in. Emotions run high throughout the book. Well done Ms. Perez.
This was a very emotional read. The plot twist was not what I was expecting or the way Brisbane or Dawn handled their grief. I actually enjoyed this read & look for to checking out more by this author.
The title doesn’t fit the book, I went I to this expecting something very different then what I got. It was quick read that had a little of everything.
I have to admit, I think my new favorite kind of genre to read are serial novellas! I love short little novella’s that pack a punch and leave you thinking, how did the author get so much into that short novella???!!! With Sex Unlimited by Kathryn Perez, that is exactly what she did to us! For one, Ms Perez is definitely one of my favorite authors I should have been following since the beginning when she first released her first book. She knows how to take a story, add some spice and then bam… rip our hearts out and give us something I never saw coming! She did it to me in Therapy and now again in Sex Unlimited! The only thing that throws me is the title, this book is just not about sex. It’s just so much more to it.
Candace has been picking up the pieces of her life for the past year when her husband ran away with his secretary. Being an editor she dives into her work and uses that as a distraction. On the anniversary of their divorce being final, she decides to do something bold and look up a dating website. She finds Sex Unlimited. A website designed for one thing only, hookups. No relationships… no ties… no heartbreak. She is lonely and decides to give it a go. What she didn’t expect to find was Brisban Calloway.
He has his story of loneliness. Being divorced for two years and a string of horrible blind dates, he see’s Candace’s profile and reaches out to her. They decide to meet and immediately the sparks fly. The chemistry the have is off the charts and holy hotness is it smoking hot!
“I need that certain feeling deep in my gut that gives me a heated primal need to have it, and when we met, that what I felt. I wanted your body in every way possible. But your mind is what tipped that first domino over. You intrigue me, Candace Greene, and you turn me on. Tonight only solidified my feelings.”-Brisbane
I love an alpha male with a dirty mouth and wowza does Brisbane have all that and then some!!! They have several meetings and they start to form a bond that is something more than just sex. This was supposed to be a no expectations type of relationship and when Brisbane opens open to Candace she is scared to move forward again after her divorce.
Brisbane is everything a women could want, he is sensitive yet strong and dominate yet giving to what Candace needs. I absolutely loved him! When both of their ex-spouses make an appearance, holy cow, I so did not see the bomb that drops! It literally left me speechless and saying out loud OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! No lie! What was once a hot and sexy fun novella became a shattered and heartbroken story that had me getting misty eyed! Book 3 is definitely turns the tale into something just so much more! This story is a just phenomenal and its one that should not be missed! I wanted to wrap Brisbane up in a bow and take him home with me! 5 huge stars for each book in this series!
I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes that had my heart melt into puddy!
“I don’t know if it was fate or luck or chance. All I know for sure is… it’s real. I’ve never felt such a strong depth of happiness in love as I do right now, in this moment, with you. You feel like home to me. I haven’t had a home in so long. You’re my forever home, Candace.”- Brisbane
Sex Unlimited was originally released in three parts, but Kathryn Perez has since released it in its entirety. I am so glad that I didn't have to read this as three installments and wait in between each because I really think it might have killed me. Trust me when I tell you that once you start reading these you are not going to want to stop! I absolutely devoured this story, and I loved every bit of it! I cannot wait to read more from Kathryn Perez after reading Sex Unlimited.
After finding out that her husband of fifteen years cheated on her and getting a divorce, Candace winds up on an online dating site where she gets a message from the sexy Brisban. They agree to sex only and arrange to meet at a hotel to fulfill their needs and passion. The chemistry and attraction between them is instant and they connect on a level that they never have with anyone else. The more they meet up though, the more things begin to change from just sex to something more than that. But with Candace's past suddenly reappearing and Brisban's past also not settled, things between them quickly get more complicated than ever before. Can Brisban and Candace figure things out between them, or will there be too many obstacles standing in their way?
Brisban was so sexy! I loved his character. He was such a dirty talker and I loved it! But I also really liked how sweet and patient he was. He wanted to show Candace how beautiful she was and how he appreciated her more than just as someone in his bed. He was just such a great guy, and I loved how he put everything into showing her how he felt. Candace was great as well. She had been through a lot and was hesitant to put herself out there again. But I loved how she didn't let her fears hold her back. She went after what she wanted and wasn't afraid to find what she was looking for. I loved Brisban and Candace together, and they were so steamy! But I also loved that they were honest with one another and could say what was on their mind without fear of the other one reacting badly. I thought that their relationship developed naturally and was so real and believable, even with how things started between them.
Overall, this story was fantastic! I have been in a slump lately and this book pulled me right out of it! It was super hot and sexy, while also being sweet and emotional. I loved seeing Brisban and Candace both deal with their pasts and begin their relationship together. I loved their journey and didn't want this book to end. I highly recommend this book to romance fans of all genres, and I think there is something for everyone in this book. I really do believe that this one is a must read and can't wait to read more from Kathryn Perez in the future!
I'm going to review all 3 editions at once, only because it's the easiest way to do a serial type novel. I read them all at once, and so the break points, in my brain, don't really exist. But it doesn't matter - because I freaking loved this book!
Candace is in her mid 30s, single again after a divorce from a man (James) who was once wonderful, but turned out to be much more frog than prince. She's an editor, and it allows her to work from home. And well, after the divorce, she just hasn't really found anyone to light her fire. Consider it a dry spell of sorts. That's until she decides to sign up on the website SexUnlimited.com. She's after some foreplay, not a happily ever after, ya know?
I really enjoyed Candace. I mean, as someone who has done the online dating thing multiple times, I can understand all of the feelings that go along with it - especially when you are new to it. For the most part, I liked her through the whole book. There is a situation that comes up, and she kind of takes a passive role. I got kind of mad at her for this, because the whole time before she was so strong and empowering, and that's what I liked. When she was faced with a difficult situation, she turned tail, and well, like I said. It made me a bit upset.
And now, Brisban. Holy heck, this man. He starts off by sending her this amazing letter. He's to the point, and very blunt, yet funny and charming at the same time. Brisban is also attractive, and that never hurts. In fact, as it turns out, 41 years old is super sexy (hello, duh!). I loved that he was "older", even though I don't really think 41 is old, in today's world of romance, it does seem to be. This man had the moves, from beginning to end.
Sex Unlimited takes you through the rollercoaster of excitement that goes with meeting someone new, and deciding they are going to be the one to satisfy your lady bits. When Brisban and Candace get together, it is nothing short of amazing and fireworks. I found myself jealous of them!! Things were definitely very hot, but then you start to see a small shift in the motivations, and then things get really messy. I've said it a million times, friends with benefits does not work. And Brisban and Candace will definitely learn this. In fact, they learn it in the craziest of ways! Let me tell you, the climax of this story is definitely something to see!
The last book, number 3, tends to deal more with emotions, and not just those between Candace and Brisban. The story becomes quite heartbreaking and downright tragic at some points. You don't know if this is a happily ever after romance while everything is going down. I loved that, the not knowing part.
All in all, the story was fantastic. The characters were sexy and wonderful. The sex was very hot and intense. You can't go wrong with this book!
I knew Kathryn Perez was a master of meaningful, intensely emotional reads as evidenced by Therapy, one of the most devastatingly emotional books I have ever read and loved. Sex Unlimited proves that scorchingly hot and seriously steamy are just two more assets that can be added to this author's impressive, mounting resume. What's more, Sex Unlimited combines Kathryn Perez's expertise in both areas and delivers a seeringly sensual story that builds to a touchingly emotional crescendo with a few nice surprises along the way.
Brisban is incredibly forward and quite the dirty talker. Mainly because of the circumstances of their first meeting, aka the premise of the story, he jumps in with both feet and is a bit more brazen than I usually care for. Fortunately his openness, his total honesty, his charm, not to mention his tact and concern had me instantly interested and actually salivating for more. If this guy isn't the total package, I don't know who is. I would be hard pressed to think of a more genuine, caring, romantic hot piece of kindle igniting man.
Obviously there is some sex in Sex Unlimited, I would even go so far as to say there is a fair bit of sex. It was definitely hot and frankly a bit addicting. What I really loved though, was when we really got into the story. A story that shows there is life and love after 35, after divorce, after tragedy. A story that is just as deep, just as thoughtful, and just as insightful as the aforementioned Therapy giving weight, substance, and relevance to what appeared to be a quick, stimulating, fun little read from the onset but turned out to be much more.
As with most serials there are a few twists and a couple of nice cliffhangers, some more shocking or earth shattering than others, but all are pleasantly surprising and leave you with some serious doubts as to how the story will unfold. I really love when there is a bit of a story within a story and if Candace and Brisban's story wasn't already enough to have be hook, line, and sinker, the tiny snippets from Dawn's book would have definitely snared me. Come to find out the significance to this intriguing little story and just where it would lead definitely rocked my world and the cozy little Candace, Brisbane cocoon I was snuggled in. It was completely unexpected and exactly what I love in a great story, a twist so massive you question everything you know up to that point and everything beyond.
Sex Unlimited is a serial not to be missed especially if you love Kathryn Perez as we are able to experience a whole new side of this author but are continually reminded of exactly what we love about her writing.
Sex Unlimited: The Complete Volumes by Kathryn Perez *was generously given a ecopy of the book in exchange for an honest review
SEX UNLIMITED by Kathryn Perez is a sexy little number with a story that in fabulous. Do not let the synopsis fool you. This is a GREAT read and I loved every minute of it. With some really big cliffhangers, I was thanking my stars that I could just keep reading because my heart would not have been able to handle waiting to find out what happened next.
Right out of the gate, I loved and identified with Candace. This is a story about love over the age of 35. The characters of SEX UNLIMITED had a life before and the dealings of the past are a huge part of the future. Candace makes a profile on Sex Unlimited.com just almost as a joke but then the most amazing thing happens when Brisban emails her. He is uncannily honest and they agree to meet up and then hook up, but then so much more happens. I absolutely loved that this was a story that was formed from a hook up. I find that the decision was very grownup and not just a spur of the moment thing. I am a firm believer of us all needing touch and sometimes we just need a hookup.
All the characters in SEX UNLIMITED are well developed and just fun. I adore Candace’s best friend, Janette. I think every woman should have a friend like her. Brisban is hot, honest and unbelievably romantic. I loved him right from the start. I read the entire book in a sitting because it was just that good. I could not put it down.
I would strongly recommend SEX UNLIMITED and in fact, I did. I called my bestie and was insistent that she put it on her TBR list. Hey, what are friends for?
SEX UNLIMITED: The Complete Volumes by Kathryn Perez receives 5 out of 5 Platypires. Texas Hugs and Happy Reading!!!
*This book was given to me for a fair and honest review*
The synopsis sounded interesting so I decided to give Sex Unlimited a chance. I expected an erotic novel, lots of naughty and barely any story. What I got was a big, fat surprise. You’ve heard that old adage “Never judge a book by a cover”? Well, this is a case of “Never judge a book by its title”. I am ashamed that based on my assumption, I thought that this magnificent trifecta of volumes would be sexy fluff. Instead, what I got was a beautifully told story of a woman, lost and lonely after her divorce, looking for companionship. It is an achingly beautiful tale woven by the author of strength, starting over and learning to love again.
Candace and Brisbane’s story is anything bit typical. Meeting online and arranging a sex date is not the way people usually do things. At least people I know. But what starts out as lust (I love Brisbane and his filthy mouth), turns into so much more.
I loved the twists and turns created by the author. By the end of Volume 2, I was dying. I admit that I cried several times. Sex Unlimited has my number 1 criteria for a 5 star read – it made me feel. I love the highs and lows that come with reading a book of this caliber. There is really nothing like it.
I 100% recommend Sex Unlimited. Just jump in and hang on. Don’t make the stupid assumption that I did – it is so much more then sex (although that element is scrumptious, I might add). One of my top 10 reads of the entire year…
This was not what I thought it would be, so just for that I gave it an extra star. This is definitely erotica -- which is how I found it on Amazon in the first place -- given the hot steamy descriptions of their times together this is appropriate, but then the story turns into a lovely, if not dramatic, romance.
Candace's husband leaves her for his secretary and because she can't have children. They divorce and a year later C is lonely and signs up for an adult dating site which is exclusively for people who don't want relationships. SexUnlimited is no Christian Mingle (ha!).
What would have made this more realistic is if she had to wade through the crappy responses -- you know, the ones you get automatically when you join from all the sleazebags who want to know if you'd do it with a donkey... but I digress.
C meets Brisban and there's instant chemistry and they begin a steamy, erotic, sex-only relationship, which quickly escalates, turning steamier. And Brisban is hot and says the sexiest things to her.
Neither of them can seem to get away from their exes however, as C's ex -- after a year -- tries to pursue her again. I actually thought this little subplot was going to turn uglier than it did, but she stands her ground.
I didn't see the twist coming -- which is tragic -- but with most good dramatic romances, it's all good in the end.
I never would have given this series a chance if I didn't already author stalk Kathryn. I have never really been interested in erotica, but this is just so much more than that so I decided to give it a shot. Candace and Brisban are beautifully written characters. Even the best friend and ex-spouses can be loved in this book. They are relatable and real. There are some beautiful quotes to take from this as well. "Hope is a gift and it fires the desires for more in life." "You can't let fear stop you from living. Fear is a thief. It steals from us and the things it takes are the very things we need." "There's nothing more beautiful than two people being so in love with the others happiness and pleasure. The rewards aren't expected but they come in bountiful ways." A person without hope is perpetually lost." "Living with bitterness is like poison."
Kathryn has a way with words and has definitely moved up as one of my favorites authors. This series forced me out of my comfort zone because I genuinely wanted to support Kathryn as an author. The fact is, even with writing a new genre, she nailed it. Read this series even if you typically don't read erotica. Just know that the plot and characters are so well written! They are lovable with a sexy and heartfelt story!
You never know who you'll meet on a sex unlimited website. Candace was in a relationship with her husband for 15 years then he up and tells her that he isn't in love with her anymore and she can't even bare him any children while he's been having an affair with his secretary and wants a divorce. 1 year later she finds herself very lonely working as an Indie editor she gets a script from one of her clients Dawn to edit right away. While she is doing that her best friend decides to push her into doing the sex unlimited thing, so she fills everything out and gets back to editing the story as she's reading it, it gets deep.... nothing like Dawn has ever written before and she is engrossed in reading instead of editing and falls asleep... beep beep her computer, it's from sex unlimited, a guy named Brisban and he tells her honestly how he feels and what he's about and just what he wants and will DO for her with the deet's included, hawt! I can't go ON without being a spoiler but know, this is a story of tragic, heartache and love with a HEA.
I would recommend this book as I thought it was well written. I due recommend that reading should be for adults only due to the erotic content. Happy reading!
This was an incredible story. You have two lost souls who find each other through a website. They were pretty much only looking for companionship through sex. They become close and are trying to figure out where their relationship is headed and are they ready to go there. They have to learn to let go and find love again. Of course, there are bumps in the road they have to overcome and work out. Candace is a strong woman who is trying to move on from a divorce. She feels broken & isn't sure how to move on with her life even though she knows she must. Brisban is the ultimate man. So loving and romantic yet so hot and sexy. (He seriously needs to be cloned!) He too has had a rough time and not into committed relationships yet meeting Candace has changed him and brought about feelings he forgot he could have for another person. He made my heart melt at his romantic side then break at his pain. I read alot of romance books and Brisban would have to be at the top of my list of romantic men. He was just incredible. Kathryn Perez has written two wonderful characters with alot of depth. While there was a part or two in the story I found predictable, I still really enjoyed this book.
I have to say I was completely surprised by this book, did not see this coming. I enjoyed it alot, I thought it was a normal girl meets guy, has great sex, and they fall in love but the author was sneaky and put in a surprising twist I did not see coming and it made this book so much more then what I thought. First off I love when a book is about a male and female that are in their 30s and 40s, of course I relate more to that age so it makes me more interested. I really liked Candace, I was so happy that she stuck to her guns when her cheating ex came around, good for her, I like how she let herself have some fun and just let loose. Her ex is a loser and her thinks he can bully her around and get his own way. I love Brisban, he is sexy, romantic, and protective. There is a major twist in this story and I can't even say anything about it because I am afraid of giving something away so I will end this review by saying, get this book right away, it has romance, sex, love, suspense, and drama. You will fall in love with Brisban and him and Candace together. Great job Kathryn.
Not only was the sex steamy, but the story was very well written. I am so glad that this was a 3 book collection. At the end of book 2, I was thoroughly blown away and did not foresee that outcome! I liked that the James and Dawn were redeemed at the end and that their characters throughout the series were not too petty but enough to make the drama in the book necessary. The author did a wonderful job without having the overly done cheesy roller coaster (and poorly written I may add) dramas I've read recently. Oh and I loved Jeanette's "crass assness" as well. :). This story was enough for me to share with my hubby and mother just to get my "feelies" out. Great story.
I had read book one last year and loved it. I went to an author event in Dallas in December and got to meet Kathryn Perez and get the the book with the complete series. I have been so overwhelmed with the amount of books I have on my TBR that this book was overlooked until now. I absolutely loved this series. It made me laugh and cry as well as get turned on. Online dating goes to a whole new level. Candace and Brisbain are looking for sex only, nothing else. I would recommend this series to anyone who likes a dirty talking, sex-on-legs kind of guy and a woman who turns to putty in his hands. There are a few twists in this story so know that you may cry. Get it and read it, you will be glad you did!
Overall, the story was interesting and a good concept. I admit, it was pretty predictable and I was not surprised when Candace found out ...but I digress. There were some pretty hot scenes which i enjoyed and appreciated. I did catch that the two BJ scenes (in book 1 and 3) were almost carbon copies of each other. I admit the story was an enjoyable and quick read, but it didn't quite surprise me as the author may have intended to.
I could go on and on about how much I truly enjoyed this story. I loved it. I almost didn't give it a chance because of the title. Once I read the blurb, I gave it a chance soley based on the age of the characters. I love to find stories that have real life experiences that come with age. This story really does have a bit of everything in it..lots of lust, angst, love, drama, and a fantastic side character named Janette. The title of the book is only a small fraction of what the story is about. The intimate scenes are done very well and believable. I highly recommend this book! I have found another fabulous new to me KU author!!
The title started out matching the book but this book was to sweet for the description. While it did have some hot scenes throughout it was not dirty like the title. I would have given it a 5 star if it was edited better. Usually I don't count off for editing unless it makes the story hard to follow but... Spoiler ahead.... The guy was described as having hot sexy beautiful blue eyes all the way through except one point when it was written he had whiskey colored eyes. Big mistake on a very attractive feature. There was also a lot of word errors that didn't get corrected. No big deal but could stand better editing again. All in all very good story.
I can't even put into words how this book effected me. But I will try. First I have to say that Brisbane was so sweet and romantic. He was the best male character I have ever read. I have to admit that I couldn't put this book down because of Brisbane. I loved Candace a lot and she was hurt really bad but even though she didn't want to give her heart away again she didn't stand a chance against Brisbane. One of the best books I've read so far this year. You Wil laugh, cry and fall in love while reading this book. Thanks for the journey it was amazing.
LEt me just start off by saying that I first read the first book as a novella and I was going to give it a low rating but I decided to wait until all three books were out & I was going to rate it then. I don't like novellas as "main" books, not enough character development. I am glad I waited & read these three together. The plot was different but hot. I just feel like it was all too short & a lot of things could of been added to fill up the gaps.
