They say you can’t outrun your past, but I’ve done just that.
At twenty-five and living on the mean streets of Brooklyn, I’ve gotten wise on how to score anything from pills to cash to men. It’s called surviving, and I've learned how to make the rules up as I go.
But, deep down, I know it’s only been a means to forget my disturbing past. I would do anything to forget…
But when I return home one night and discover that song playing on the stereo, the song they used to play to torment me, I know they've finally found me, they've come for me, they’re already here. If they capture me this time, there will be no chance of escape. I am not about to let that happen.
My new neighbor from down the hall, Ash has been watching me and I know he likes what he sees. He’s caught my attention as well. But there’s something about his smoldering good looks and brooding gaze I don’t trust. Then again, I don’t trust anyone. Will he complicate my plan to protect myself?
NOTE: This is a three part story and, due to the nature of its content, is not suitable for very young readers.
Hunter escaped a horrible life. As a child she endured torture by the hands of several men.
Living on the streets now, she doesn't trust anyone.
Enter.....Ash
Her guardian neighbor with his own secrets. He is hired by the cruel men Hunter escaped from to find her and bring her back to them.
Only Ash can't do that. The moment he sees her.....HE FALLS IN LOVE WITH HER! WHAT???? She is his other half!!! WHAT???

This story had so much promise for greatness, but it just started falling apart on me. I can get over insta love most times bit this was too far fetched for me.
I was confused with the weaving of new characters and at one moment I thought I was reading a memory but it was an actual present moment in the book.
I will just cut ties now. God, I wanted to love this entire story!!!
Poorly written - Lame plot & generic characters - it evens ends on a cliffhanger - Bad from beginning to end
Ummm. Wow. I have read other books by this writer and liked them, but this one was pretty bad. Maybe it was one of her earlier releases? It was poorly written. I find it hard to believe that this was even published it was so brutal. The plot and characters were incredibly generic. Everything about this book just felt ridiculous. To add insult to injury it ends on a cliffhanger. I'm surprised I actually finished it, but needless to say it won't be a series I continue. Definitely a waste of $1
Hidden is about this girl named Hunter who is running from her past. She lived on a farmhouse with other children being raped.
Then her next door neighbor, Ash, helps her when one of these men break into her apartment.
Okay, so the story starting off was okay but then it got confusing because when Ash killed the guy, she went to stay with him. She slept in the same bed as him, not feeling weird about it at all after he kills a man and before that, she said he looked really scary and his eyes were black.
It was just really fast, because when they were in bed they were thinking about being in love and stuff.
It became unbelievable to me. I really wanted to like it because of the synopsis. Can't get what we always want...
The past may not define us, but it shapes us into the person that we become. Hunter has been running from her past for years now, and one night Hunter will make the mistake of meeting the eyes of the one who will bring her past roaring back, changing her life forever.
She trusted him immediately and without reason, to always keep her safe. She believed him to be her guardian angel, sent to protect her from her dark past, and fell for him hard and fast.
But he held his secrets close and locked her out, and the reveal of his true intentions may just be Hunter's greatest downfall. This is what happens when you trust a stranger.
I hated this book with a fiery passion. It made absolutely no sense, diverting its focus rapidly from one person to another with little lucid thought to any kind of development. The plot was non-existent, the author instead choosing to throw a bunch of random crap into the page and call if "Literate." I have no idea who these characters truly are and each and every one of them is an unreliable narrator.
Readers, I warn you: Trust no one. They all twist their perceptions into something so warped you will be unable to uncover the truth of their characters. It is not worth the confusion headache. I would NOT recommend reading this book. Just don't do that to yourself.
This is the second Lexi Ray book I've read the first being 'Stronger' and they've both been difficult emotional reads which just grab you and won't let go. 'Hidden' has child abuse as the main thread and like I said its a difficult read with more than a few surprises thrown in along the way. A word of advice I wouldn't read this unless you're prepared to read 'Hostage' and 'Heroes' it's a trilogy as you'll know from the synopsis but it's a cliffhanger ending which you won't be able to walk away from, so you've been warned. While I enjoyed this book I struggled with Hunter at first, I wasn't sure if I liked her but once I caught a glimpse of exactly what she'd endured and survived I was just in awe of her, I even overlooked her reckless behaviour and the occasional impulsive decisions which usually drive me nuts. I'm not giving a summary of this book like I generally do since I would find it difficult to not spoil it or inadvertently give away some hint or clue, so you're on your own. I will say as a rule I try avoid books which have difficult subject matters and while there's been exceptions in the past I like romance, pure and simple but something drew me to this book and I'm not sorry I started this series.
Hunter lived through and escaped from a horrible childhood. She was held captive where she was used and abused. The worst part, it was her father who was in charge. Now she lives quietly, hoping they never find her. She tries to stay invisible.
Ash has fallen for the girl he was sent to get. There's no way she's done what they have accessed her of. He now will do whatever he can to protect her. But they're coming and Hunter doesn't trust him. Can he keep her safe?
This is book one of a three book series. The POV changes between Ash and Hunter. I liked the characters and am curious as to how the series will progress.
There are a number of typos but it's not too distracting. This book is currently free on Amazon and the next two books are available, so no waiting.
Very, very good and I don't usually like dark stories
I was surprised that I enjoyed this story. I want Hunter to win, and I don't know how the author will give her that, I don't know which way Hunter will go, but I want her to WIN everything!!! I read book 1 and 2 in one morning, now I have to wait till October 17th. I don't know if there are typos or editing things, I don't read a story for that, I read a story to tell me one and this author certainly did that!!!!! it's free right now so I highly recommend this book and decide for yourself what and how you'd turn out if you had been Hunter!!!!
Wow, what a read. Hunter is in hiding after escaping "the farmhouse" years ago. This was a place where Hunter endured horrible abuse and torment. Now living in NY, Hunter is still haunted by those horrible events. When crosses paths with her neighbor Ash, she is almost immediately intrigued. It's as if they have a connection. However, Hunter should be careful who she trusts because nothing is as it seems. They are connected, just Not the way Hunter thinks.
I've never read "Fifty Shades of Grey," I've only heard reviews. There are several sexual references and scenarios in this book - some are rather detailed, I wouldn't recommend this for anyone younger than seventeen.
It's weird because it is a page turner. You want to know how it is all going to end up. However, it is all over the place. Hunter says she feels one way the the next instant she says she feels another way. She says she knows something is going to happen but then shocked when it does happen. Then she falls for Ash why too fast and easily for someone with the childhood she says she escaped. And then it ends in a cliffhanger.
I gave this book 4 stars because it was awesome.. I am a little frustrated with how it ended and I think that is why it couldn't be a 5 star for me. Hunter is amazing.. I thought letting her guard down for Ash was worth it but now I am kinda confused. I loved so much about this book idk where to start, I am hoping the next one is just as good (:
This was definitely the kind of book that makes you want to read the next in the series ASAP. There was a lack of sex in this, which is understandable because throwing sex in the middle of the crap these characters are going through would have been kind of inappropriate. i think i will go ahead and finish the trilogy because i do feel like i'm invested in the series.
DNF at 70% I just can't keep reading, Hunter's character is getting on my nerves big time, I can't believe in such character, for me whole story is too unbelievable and even silly. Sorry, this book is not for me.
Okay, so I just finished reading this book and I was like what. Usually, I can figure out a book, they are predictable, but that ending got me. Now, I must read Book II. Read it, I mean it has some moments were it drags and you want to skip, but believe me, stick with it, the ending is like whoa!
It was ok not in my favourite list i was waiting for something exciting to happen found it quite short maybe in the next book u would c how the relationship developed between ash and hunter as very little happened in first book.
It's very intense drama and much violence in memories of the characters. I like heroes, and the turn of the events. Just got in mind you most read the next books
