Mischief Mayhem Want and Woe #3

Chuggie and the Prisoner Gods

Rate this book
Strange winds have blown Norchug Mot Losiat, better known as Chuggie, to a world called Glughu. It is a realm of blood and bone where tar pumps like blood, where blood pours like wine, and where wine flows like booze. With the injured blade cultist Fey Voletta at his side – as well as a painted woman named Araza – Chuggie crosses a tar-filled wilderness to reach the city of An Croi. It’s a city filled with fanatical killers in the service of a bloodthirsty master who has conquered and imprisoned the old gods. A secret battle threatens to draw Chuggie in, but all our drunken hero wants is to get home to Mag Mell. The only way home is through a bleeding gateway, and to open one Chuggie will have to pay a heavy toll. Will Chuggie get home in time to prevent a war? What will he have to do to get there? How will he carry all that booze?

Brent Michael Kelley lives and writes in the Wisconsin Northwoods. He shares a home with such things as hairless dogs, a snake named Darth Batman, and the woman he married on Halloween. In addition to writing about his pal Chuggie, he likes writing story-poems, painting monsters, and making wine. Some say late at night, if you’re alone by a campfire, you can summon Brent by closing your eyes and saying his name eleven times. He insists this is not true and there’s no way it will work… yet.

I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say that this is the author's finest work, in this reviewer's opinion. This book was a true journey, and the ending was like a goat-kick to the face... WEBPAGE!!! my link text

As Chuggie's biggest fan, I am humbled and honored to be chosen by the author to BE the author. Buy ten copies for yourself and ten more for someone you care about. And ten more for someone you haven't met yet.

I need more

I've greatly enjoyed these books. I'm really wanting to know what happens next. Does Squip get her release? Does Chuggie stop the war on Mag Mell? I need to know!!!

With this third entry in the Mischief Mayhem Want and Woe series, Kelley continues a story that only he can write. The author blends horror, bizarro, humor and splatter together with effortless grace and ease, creating his own genre. It’s truly a breath of fresh air that stands out like a diamond in a midnight sky for readers who want their imaginations pushed to the edge.

Poor Chuggie… all he wants—aside from unlimited alcohol—is to get home. The intricacy of this task is promethean…and that’s putting it lightly. Although it had me grasping at straws in places, and I found some of the splatter being too much, it’s hard to put down. It actually challenges your imagination, which is a rare commodity in fiction, and one of the highest compliments I can give. The characters, worlds and dimensions are so unique that even devotees of Lovecraft will stop and say: “Damn, son!”

Kelley has successfully crafted his own universe—or is it universes?—into a series that leaves you wanting more. This was my first experience with Chuggie and the predilections that accompany him, but it won’t be my last. I’m looking forward to reading the first two in the series, and sincerely hope there’s a fourth in the works.

From the first sentence, you know you’re dealing with an author that truly appreciates and respects reader’s imaginations, yet another rare commodity. With Kelley, all bets are off, and we’re all the richer for it. How someone like Kelley flew under my radar is beyond me, but I’m very happy that’s been corrected.

Interesting story, but clearly reads like a self published book. Have never seen so many typos and errors in a printed book before.

I won this book from a goodreads giveaway.

A pretty enjoyable book. Like Lovecraft taken lightly. Some good humor to be read in here. Thanks for the chance to read your book.
