Oh yeah. Chasing Danger was a tasty spot of rom-suspense. A little romance, a little danger, awesome characters. It was a good time as Dax tries to make it up to Hannah after disappearing for weeks with no notice--right after they first hooked up--and ends up winning her heart and saving her life.
These two were great. Dax is sexy and solid and Hannah was my favorite type of heroine in a rom-suspense...reasonable! That might not sound like a big deal but omg it SO is. Her life is in danger and she knows it. And she's level headed about needing help and staying safe instead of fighting it and being stubborn. And that made me absolutely adore her. The romance is quick since they knew each other and had a connection already but they fit together nicely and had great chemistry. The sex was hot and steamy and countered the suspense perfectly.
All in all, a nicely done novella that got my heart pumping on multiple fronts. Reus did a fantastic job of creating a fun and sexy bite sized romance.
*Just wanted to note that this is marked as 90 pages. Not sure that's quite accurate. It took me about an hour to read and I'm not quite that fast. It's 8 chapters and ends at about the 78% mark. Still was a fun read but shorter than expected especially for the price.

This was a quick and intense story that I really enjoyed reading.
Quick version is that Hannah thought she and Dax really had something going, but he never showed up to their date. He doesn't show up for two weeks! When he does, she lets him know that he screwed up big time.
Dax is an agent for the NSA, and he often has to just up and leave for a mission. He can't tell Hannah, since they aren't married, so he really hopes she'll let him back into her life. And when her life is put in jeopardy, he knows he'll stay even if she doesn't want him, because he won't let anything happen to her.
The best part of this romance, was that Hannah was a smart and realistic character. She knows she's in danger, and she knows Dax can save her. She doesn't do any weird "I'm tough, I can do this on my own" stuff.
Their chemistry is off the charts, and the romance is well-done. The face that they knew each other before helps with those who won't love the insta-lust/love, and the plot is strong. Katie Reus' Deadly Ops series is a strong Romantic Suspense series, and this novella definitely adds to it.

I enjoyed a heroine that didn't go all TSTL and try to push her way into a situation she wasn't trained to handle. An enjoyable short.

Dax screwed up.
Dax f-king Costas, whom she wanted to punch right in the face for standing her up two weeks ago after the most intense, raw sex of her life. Yes, that was a violent reaction but she didn’t care. He just brought it out of her with all his raw sex appeal and bullshit charm. She couldn’t believe she’d thought his I’m-quiet-and-brooding-and-don’t-know-how-sexy-I-am act was actually real. Gah! She never fell for that stupid charming act from men. Until Dax.
Now he will make it up to her.
“Don’t feel like you have to say yes, but there’s a work thing tomorrow—”
“Yes.”
She lifted an eyebrow. “You don’t even know what I’m going to say.”
He shrugged because it didn’t matter. If she was asking him, letting him into her life, he was there.
Suddenly she grinned wickedly and leaned forward so that their mouths were almost touching. “How do you feel about costume parties?”
With the exception of a couple of Halloween parties he’d been to back in his Army days, he’d never been to a costume anything. But the thought of Hannah dressed up as a sexy nurse was insanely hot. She’d never actually said that would be her costume, but a guy could dream.
“I’m in,” he rasped out.

I liked that there was no drawn-out drama of trying to convince her to accept help or accept the demands of his job. It was a hot romance with a dangerous edge that I found very enjoyable.

Hannah Young thought she was building something with NSA Agent Dax Costas, but when he stood her up for their date she realizes she has found another dating disaster. Dax knows Hannah is ticked, but he can't divulge the reasons he had to abruptly leave and stand her up. As he gets Hannah to forgive him they find themselves embroiled in a cat and mouse chase as Hannah is the target of a killer.

While this one was short it did a great job of conveying both Dax and Hannah's thoughts on their relationship. I can see why Hannah was reluctant at first, but Dax had a good excuse for not contacting her. I was glad when he was finally able to let her in on things, because Hannah needed some help, the kind that Dax was good at.

Hannah Young wants nothing to do with Dax Costas or his apologies after he lied and stood her up, but when he saves her from a knife-wielding masked man waiting for her in front of her house, she's more than happy to have his protection.
Judging by the blurb, you'd think this was a full-length novel. Well, you'd be wrong. It would've worked better as one, though. As it was, everything was crammed up in a novella so tightly, I had no idea what was going on. Was this supposed to be a suspense story? The suspense part of the plot sure seemed thin. Was this supposed to be a romance? The romance part of the story was even thinner than the suspense.
It looked like the author just wanted these two characters to bang, so she threw in a flimsy suspense sub-plot in to avoid the PWP marker. Unfortunately, the book was so short, the characters had no way of developing properly, the heroine bugged me because she thought the hero had lied to her when he disappeared (she Googled NSA and suddenly knew what they did!), the romance was anything but (just two people attracted to one another wanting to bang), and the abrupt and rushed ending did nothing to redeem the "romance".
You know the saying "less is more". This series could've done with one story less.

Super cute novella!!! Glad to see a follow up story about Hannah, wish it might of had another few pages towards the end. But it was still awesome!

Short and to the point, I think Chasing Danger is my favorite Katie Reus novella to date. I’ve always loved Hannah’s character and am thrilled that she gets her own story. And no less than what I expected, it is spicy like kim-chee.
I would be lying if I didn’t say I have a certain affinity for this Korean girl. I get her. I get her background and history. I understand her family pressures and pain. I know her motivations. I appreciate that Katie Reus points out the stereotype of Asian woman and how it can impact their dating life:
“Because of her smaller stature, and in large part, her ethnicity, men always thought she was this fragile, submissive creature.”
Asian women are often perceived as lotus flowers or dragon ladies. Dax, however, sees beyond that bias: “He treated her like an equal in and out of the bedroom and had seemed to really be impressed by her intelligence. By her.”
Dax Costas, sigh. First I love that name. It’s very mysterious and perfect for an alpha. I love that he is a relationship virgin, never having a girlfriend before. I love that he is completely honest with his feelings, even if he could not be honest with Hannah until now. I love that he is not satisfied with earthshaking sex, and wants more with Hannah. He has to convince her to give him a chance.
This story is not so much about the mystery because that is solved early on, but it did give the narrative an edge, not to mention a reason for keeping Dax around. However, although takes place in the world of Deadly Ops, it doesn’t have the same level of suspense as the books before it.
IN A NUTSHELL:
If you want a hot little contemporary romance or if you are Deadly Ops fan, you will definitely want to put Chasing Danger on your To Be Read List.

Hanna Young is going through some tough times. For one, she’s trying to get her life back together after being the victim of a kidnapping. Then, she’s trying to come to terms with the fact that the guy she thought she had something good with, Dax Costas, suddenly stops calling. Add to the mix a crazy mad man trying to kill her and she doesn't even know why!
As usual, Katie Reus knows how to keep me turning the pages and anxiously excited for the next thing to happen. This is a particular favorite series of mine because to me the characters kind of jump from the pages and their emotions and interactions are so palpable. Hanna seems to be so little in physique but so strong in mind. Given what she'd gone through I give Katie two thumbs up for not turning her into a scaredy-cat or going to the opposite side of the spectrum and making her an heedless risk-taker.
And Dax, swoon-worthy Dax. I don’t think there is a Reus’ hero I haven't come to love. He’s so tender and lovable, sexy, kick-a$$, I-know-I-want-you kind of hero, that is, the kind of hero I love to read.
Now, even though the characters were great and they had lots of chemistry, there were plenty of scorching loving scenes, and the suspense was feasible up to a point, there was also the fact that once again the heroin is threaten by a mysterious villain and the hero has to come to her aid and rescue. I’m not bashing the trope or the storyline because, hey, I love this type of stories as much as anyone but I'd like to see another kind of twist in future stories. On the whole, I will definitely continue picking up the series and I do recommend this story to whoever would like a quick and good suspense romance read.

Chasing Danger by Katie Reus is a quick read full of smoking hot intimacy and suspense. While I adore the Deadly Ops series, I was a little disappointed with this one – mainly because it was so short. I knew it was a novella going into it, but that didn’t keep me from wanting more of Dax and Hannah’s story.
Hannah is the target of a killer all because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Good thing she has an ex-Delta Force operative who also has his sights on her for a different reason. Dax happens to be in the right place at the right time when Hannah needs him most. I actually enjoyed the suspense of the story more than the passion and relationship side of things in Chasing Danger. Usually its the other way around for me, but this one had me on edge and I didn’t want to put it down until the villain was caught.
Despite what I said above about enjoying the suspense and story aspect of the story most, I enjoyed the unfolding of Dax and Hannah’s relationship. I think it was great that they already had a history since there was not a lot of time to build up each character as one would have in a full length novel. Dax and Hannah have great chemistry and you can see that in the passionate intimate scenes in the book.
Overall, this is a good read. As mentioned before, I wish it were longer, but if you realize that going in and know it is going to be quick, you will enjoy it. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series and see if Dax and Hannah make an appearance later!

After two weeks of no contact Hannah is finished with Dax, she just can't trust a man that disappears for weeks at a time with no word.
Dax just got back to town from a secret mission and is itching to go to Hannah. He's tired of being alone and he feels a deep connection with her. Unfortunately he knows she will never give him a second chance unless he can tell her what he does for a living.
Hannah doesn't trust Dax anymore but after he rescues her from an knife wielding attacker outside of her house he is even more determined to stay by her side to keep her safe. Hannah's terrified because she's become a target again, but she feels safe with Dax so she agrees to let him help her.

Another delicious installment in the Deadly Ops series. Ms. Reus delivers a charming, yet suspenseful romance. Dax and Hannah had a passion-filled night before Dax had to leave on very short notice for a mission. Unable to tell Hannah what he does, or even that he has to leave, she believes he just left without saying goodbye. Now Dax is back and ready to pick up where they left off, but after not hearing from him for weeks Hannah has other plans... and they don't include Dax.
When someone makes an attempt on her life she has to depend on the person who can protect her and drive her libido wild, Dax.
Chasing Danger is a quick, fun read. Highly recommended!

3 stars and I'm pushing it really.
Eh this book was too rushed, and it ended at 78% which pisses me off because the rest of the book was several chapters for the next installment. Uhm no. As a reader, if I was going to purchase this book and it ended at 78%, I would be really annoyed.

One of my favorite reads this year! It was romance and suspense! Dax is an alpha man and he protects Hannah.Le sigh! He is adoreable! I don't know how Katie does it but I love everyone of her heroes! Five stars from me!:)★★★★★

Chasing Danger, #2.5, a Novella by Katie Reus was an excellent addition to the Deadly Ops series. Hannah appeared in a previous Deadly Ops book having been kidnapped with her friend. This story is about her relationship with Dax Costas (worked for NSA) a year after she was rescued by NSA. Hannah had four days of intimacy with Dax in which she became emotionally very close. Then he disappeared without calling her for two weeks. She was very upset with him and didn't plan to meet up with him again. Then Dax called her, apologized for not calling, and she hung up on him. He managed to locate where she was dining with friends that evening and talked her into spending time with him. That evening on her way home by herself, a man tried to kill her. Dax drove in the driveway and scared the would-be killer away. The rest of the story is Dax's efforts to keep Hannah safe. This was a very enjoyable short story. I would recommend it to all of the readers of the Deadly Ops series. Even if you have not read any of the series, the novella is a standalone story and can be enjoyed as a suspenseful romance.

Katie Reus is really good at writing novellas. This is the second one I've read by her and it had the perfect balance of action, suspense and romance. The plot was exciting enough to keep you interested, but there was still enough character development and romantic development between the two of them to make you care about the story. Not always an easy thing to accomplish in such a short book.
I really liked Dax and Hannah. I liked their personalities. I expected Hannah to do something stupid at the end and I was so glad when she didn't. She was smart enough to know that Dax could handle it. They had fantastic chemistry togehter, and while there was only one intimate scene it was more than a little steamy! Dax is more of a dirty talker than I remember her other heroes being.
I could've easily read a full-length book of these two, but this was a super quick and enjoyable slice of romantic suspense from this wonderful series.

Whether a novel length or novella any book by Katie Reus will satisfy. She knows exactly how to keep her reader enticed enough to read from beginning to end in one sitting. The main characters in this one have amazing chemistry and although it is a quick read it is a good one.

This is a series I barely started but an author I have really enjoyed. I think I read the first 2 books as much as 8 or 10 years ago. So now I'm happily going on with the series. With novellas, it is always hard to develop the characters quickly enough. It's a little easier with romantic suspense. I thought it was pretty well done here.

It was good to see Hanna get a happy ending after being kidnapped the year before but talk about heart stopping adventure in a short story when that psycho kept coming after her with a knife, gripping read all round.

Wow that was exciting...........but short. 😕too short. I especially liked all the action.....there was never a dull moment. Hannah and Dax were perfect for one another. And it was nice to actually catch up with jack. Exceptional.

Fun book. Enough back story was filtered through this book so one doesn't feel like anything was missed and as a result, it was a good short stand alone suspense novel. I now have to go find books 1 & 2.

Love romance and drama. This is fast paced book also. You will like Hannah and Dax. I've read the 1st 2 books of the series also which were just as good. Now off to read the next book of this series.
