Rock Royalty #2

Love Her Madly

Rate this book
Rock Royalty
Years ago, Rolling Stone magazine dubbed the nine collective children of the most famous band in the world “Rock Royalty.” Now all grown up, the princes and princesses are coming back to L.A.’s Laurel Canyon to discover if love can be found among the ruins of a childhood steeped in sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll.

“Bad twin” Bing Maddox has wanted his brother’s BFF Alexa Alessio for months, but he's stayed away because she’s too hearts-and-family for his jaded soul. Ever since a good deed turned to a dark regret, he’s buried his guilt in a series of forgettable flings with women who wanted nothing more. But when delicious Alexa needs a plus one to some upcoming wedding events, he gives in to his urges and goes all out in pursuit of getting her into his bed.

Alexa Alessio doesn’t know how it happened—one moment she was being smart and keeping herself separate from seen-everything, done-everything, wildly sexy Bing Maddox and the next she was agreeing he could be her date. Sure she wants back-up when her cousin marries Alexa’s own stolen ex, but Bing’s made it clear he wants her on her back. Her heart says yes—but her common sense tells her it might be the very thing broken when commitment-phobic Bing moves on. She can have him, but can she hold him?

Love Her Madly by Christie Ridgway is a 2014 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book of the Rock Royalty series.

Bing and Brody may be twins, but they are like night and day temperament wise. Brody is 'the good twin', leaving Bing with the bad - boy reputation.

Alexa was dumped by her fiance in favor of her cousin, who has no qualms about insisting Alexa be in the wedding party!
Needing a date to prove she is fine with how things turned out, Alexa initially considers asking Brody to escort her, but after making her pitch, she realizes too late it wasn't Brody she poured her heart out to...it was Bing.

Bing thinks pretending to be Alexa's boyfriend for a while will provide him with the perfect opportunity to get her into bed. But, when Brody makes Bing promise not to touch Alexa; his plans are thwarted, or are they? Alexa is determined to turn over a new leaf and shed her 'good girl' image. Can she keep Bing at arm's length emotionally or is she setting herself up for a fall?

I think the story has a solid setup, bringing two people together who have private demons to exorcise. Alexa had weight issues at one time and hasn't had the best of luck in the romance department, not to mention her unusual family situation. She is accused of being a 'romantic' like that's a bad thing.

Bing on the other hand, was the victim of parental neglect, never had boundaries growing up, like all the other “rock royalty” kids. However, he seems to have a really dark persona and frankly, he was a little creepy to me. He feels he is a bad person and is intent on living up to his bad-boy image, especially when it comes to women.

Now those of you who know me can attest to my love of tortured heroes, and Bing certainly fits into that category. He is beating himself up and is perhaps more sensitive than he's given credit for, and Alexa finally seems to have his number. However, I had a hard time feeling the chemistry between these two. The push/ pull carried on a little too long, and the couple bonded on a physical level, but emotionally it was all pretty one sided all the up to the very end. Bing was given an out when it came to the past and then very abruptly decided he was capable of being in a relationship.

The author wisely chose to suggest Bing still has a dark side and needs more work, with Alexa's love and patience paving the way for him to make peace with his past, deal with his guilt, remorse and regret, and hopefully become a better person through the power of love. I like the idea of that , and so despite some rocky moments, I can accept how things turned out in the end, and hopefully we will get a little update on this couple in the future. I certainly wish them the best.

3.0-3.5 This was a quick one, read it overnight and into the next day. It reads easily and quickly. This is #2 in the Rock Royalty series about the nine children of the rock band, Velvet Lemons. They were collectively raised on the Lemons' compound and each one of them left as soon as they possible could. None of them had a normal childhood, but somehow they had to overcome that.

Bing and Brody are twins of Mad Dog Maddox. They left the day after they turned eighteen. It's now twelve years later and they are living in the same neighborhood and running a construction company. Alexa is sandwiched between their houses. She and Brody are best-friends. She barely gives Bing the time of day. Yet there's always been "something" between Bing and Alexa, they've simply decided to ignore it and steer clear of one another. Their story is pretty typical. Sometimes it moves a little slowly, but it picks up quickly. This is a book that is good for when you want simple with a side of sass and sin.

Love Her Madly is the second novel in the Rock Royalty series, which focuses on the 9 kids of the band, the Velvet Lemons. This book focuses on Bing, one of Cilla’s older twin brothers, and Alexa, best friend of Bing’s twin, Brody. Bing and Alexa always fought a strong attraction because Bing was always anti-love. Bing gets involved with Alexa when she needs a date to her cousin and ex-fiance’s wedding. The family events are hilarious, but watching the characters navigate love was heart wrenching at times. I recommend reading this book if you enjoy romances with family drama laced throughout.

I can't fairly judge this book, because I think the things I didn't care for about it have to do with my own attention span. I totally loved Bing and Alexa, and the writing was good (with one exception: there's a lot of head-hopping within the same scene), and I liked the story line. The back story about the rock star kids was so fascinating. But the pacing is the one thing that didn't make this book a favorite of mine. I kept thinking I was close to the end, or at least more than halfway through, but it felt a little too long to me. However, that might be just the right story length for someone else.

Love Her Madly is the second book in the Rock Royalty series. Bing Maddox has a twin brother Brody they are one of the Lemon Kids he moved out of the family compound at age 18 and started his own business. Alexa's fiance left her for her cousin and they are getting married. Alexa and Brody are best friends but Bing is attracted to her. Since Alexa needs a date for the wedding she asks Bing to be her plus one. They are so attracted to each other sparks fly when ever they are close to each other. I don't give spoilers so you'll just have to read the book to see what happens between them

The romance was good, but I wasn't exactly hooked. To be fair, this was third person and I usually struggle to connect with characters in third person. To be even fairer (huh!), I'm still suffering symptoms of book hangover after rereading the Fever series. Nothing seems good enough.

I picked up Christis Ridgeway’s Love Her Madly on a whim and was very pleased. This sexy steamy romance adds a twist to the old “bad boy falls for the good girl.” Because this boy isn’t as bad as he thinks & the good girl he’s falling in love with is ready to be very very bad. Though book two in this series, it works well as a standalone. I plan on reading her backlist so I can catch up. :P

Right off the bat, Our Heroine did not garner my sympathy, All that fuss over those silly little headpieces? Granted, Alexa was only sixteen when she designed it, but one would hope that by the time she was an adult she would have grown past such a lapse in judgement. Either commit to a hat or go bareheaded, is what I say. I have yet to a see a woman whose appearance is improved by one of those frothy doohickeys on top of her noggin. Nope. Not even Kate Middleton and it’s hard to make her look unattractive, but those bits of nonsense succeed.

On the other hand, I give Our Heroine kudos for not pining over the ex-finance with obviously deplorable taste in women who prefers whiny, selfish cousin Drea who steals the dreams of a sixteen year old as well the adult version’s fiancee. Alexa also does seem to a serious case of lust for one twin brother while having a serious platonic relationship with the other twin. Which just goes to show that nature and nurture don’t answer for everything. Chapter One ends on a cliffhanger and that is just plain mean. Nasty. Cruel. Vicious. Still it kept me reading.

Must mention how much I loathe grammatical errors such as “a years-long-world tour” instead of “a year’s-long world tour.” Grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, etc really throw me out of the story and it takes quite a while for me to get back in.

Apparently Something Nasty happened in the past. This was mentioned in Light My Fire and hinted at enough times in this story that by the time it comes up again in Chapter Four, I was quite fed up with the hints and wanted to say “Enough already. Who died? Under what suspicious circumstances? And I supposed every single one of the brothers think they are responsible for the death of third baby sister or something like that. Probably Gwen Moon’s child which is why she could never leave. She had to stay near her precious one’s grave.” If this drags out and drags out through several more books, until the discovery of Lost Beck as the ninth book, I am going to be upset. Because one thing I really hate in a series is when the story that is being told now is compromised for the sake of setting up future stories in the series. I’m in chapter four and that’s what I feel like is happening.

In chapter five, though, I laughed my head off at what Our Heroine said to Rita, whoever she is. when Rita called Bing on the phone and Bing was up the ladder scraping paint off his house. “Lex, you, rock,” I thought.

But then I was right out of the story over this sentence, “They stared at each other and the past tense atmosphere at the bridal salon was nothing to what was shimmering in the few feet of air between her and Bing.” What does that mean? What is a “past tense atmosphere?” Verbs have past tense, not atmosphere. Also, Bing has not yet been in the bridal salon so I can’t begin to imagine what the author is talking about. Sloppy editing really irks me.

Okay. I just have to blurt this out. Velvet Lemons. Does anyone else find this name for a rock group as repulsive as I? Whenever I see these two words, all I can think of is three lemons covered with green mold, which would make them velvety. In a way.

Up to chapter eight and I am really convinced that there is really not much to this story at all. If I weren’t committed to reviewing it, I’d cease to read it. The main issue seems to be when will they go to bed with each other? It’s a romance novel so we know there will be a happily ever after but this book feels like a string of titillating scenes for no reason except to titillate. Each feels more gratuitous than the last because there is nothing else to the story. Just go to bed, get it over with. In Light My Fire there was world-building and the details of growing up as rock royalty. Ridgway doesn’t repeat that here, thank goodness, although I would have loved details about a young Bing and Brody building their tree houses all over the compound, their motivations, and what they accomplished as a result.

I would like to see some real, concrete relationships here. Oh yes, it was nice when Bing had Sunday brunch with Alexa’s family and while they are a big Italian family, they drank lemonade and not the cliche of red wine flowing like a waterfall. Other characters kinda stagger around with all the substance of paper dolls just for Alexa and Bing to work with or around. They aren’t people in and of themselves. Even Brody, the twin brother is a throwaway character here. Of course, he is a an obvious set-up for another story in the series. Which is too bad because these two brothers are close and so they should be interacting with each other as part of the book.

Have to say, though, Ridgway pulls off Bing’s change of heart fairly convincingly. Oh, sure, he’s making love to Alexa and he is usually a one time only kinda guy and it’s while he’s doing the deed that he realises it can’t he one time only with her. So we know that Alexa has what Sarah Wendell in Beyond Heaving Bosoms: The Smart Bitches' Guide to Romance Novels identifies as the “Magic Hoo Hah” which is not a convincing trope for me. No, it’s the family dinner and his thoughts and experiences about it, the contrast with the voice from his past, and his feelings when he thinks it is possible that Patricia, Alexa’s mother might have heard that convinced meting had occurred in Our Hero. But how is he going to convince Our Heroine who has accepted his one time only rule? End of chapter nine.

And then of course he fails to have the courage of his convictions and backtracks which is a cheap shot on the part of the author. I really wanted to see Bing embrace his new ideas, work with them, review his past through his new eyes.

Garbage Night was a surprise. I would love to live in a neighborhood where people have a potluck party the night they put the garbage cans out for pick-up the next morning. However, I don’t believe it happens at all and it is just too twee a scene for words.

Nothing like the trite cliched fit of jealousy to reveal to Our Heroine that she has fallen in love with Our Hero. Just at this moment, I don’t know if cousin Drea was just drunk or if she was also a cliche and trying to steal a second and perceived boyfriend from her cousin Alexa, which is how Drea got Nico.

Aha. So the death hanging over the heads of Bing and Brody is not that of a little girl. So I think it is a different death than the one hinted at in Light My Fire.

So glad to know Drea finds the fascinators as revolting as I. So glad Alex and Drea chat and things aren’t as cliched as I had thought. Whew. And voila, we have our happily ever after with some nudges from a guy from the bad old days and cousin Drea.

Over all, I found this story choppy, back and forth and uneven. It had some great moments. I fear the author rushed the writing. I suspect she is under pressure to churn out nine novels and quality is being sacrificed to speed. I am sorry to have to say that because I think this is an author with talent and I hate to see talent sacrificed to either expediency or profits.

I love the characters in this series. I also love the amount of chemistry they share. I do miss reading about Cilla and Ren but it's nice reading about other characters as well. Also they are in the book a bit.
There is a nice bit of sex in the book but it isn't raunchy so it's a win-win for everyone. I enjoyed the book, just as much as the first and I hope that anyone else over 18 reads it. I can't wait to read the next story in the series. It's one of those series that leaves you feeling happy and warm and fuzzy inside.

Disappointed. I enjoy the over all plot of the rock royalty and the characters are somewhat complex. There are serval universal theme that are decently developed. However, I won’t be finishing the series as nothing much of this is “romantic”. It’s unnecessarily crude and in places border line abusive. It’s really too bad the author chose to have both books focused around “edgy” sex instead of relationship development.

Bing and Alexa come from very different backgrounds. Bing's wild rock-n-roll lifestyle with his dad and his family caused him a lot of regrets. The drugs and the girls were all around and he and his twin took advantage until a tragedy on their eighteenth birthday. He has decided that he is damaged and not made for relationships.

Alexa is more the girl next store type. She grew up in a large Italian family and works in the family bridal business. She lives next door to Bing and his twin Brodie. She and Brodie are pals and run together and hang out but she has avoided Bing. Bing brings out very different feelings and they scare her especially considering his catch and release style of dating. She was engaged recently until her fiance decided to hook up with her cousin. It has made things very uncomfortable at work and being in the wedding is a nightmare. Somehow she ends up confessing her issues with the wedding to Bing accidentally and he volunteers to be her date to the wedding related activities.

Bing has felt the attraction too and has noticed how Alexa avoids him. He begins to see that the attraction goes both ways and this is his opportunity to act on it. Alexa has concerns about having intense feelings and how it can lead to bad decisions. There was an incident that showed her the danger of loving too much. However they may want to feel, they both want each other and are tired of not acting on it. Everyone can see the attraction and their playacting turns real very fast.

Bing and Brodie are twins and Bing likes to think of himself as the bad twin. He internalizes his pain. Bing is really fighting himself when he pushes against his feelings for Alexa and thinks he is not good enough for her. Alexa doesn't feel attractive and still feels like the chubby girl who can't get a date. They both see his sister's happiness with her upcoming wedding and start to admit they want that kind of happiness too.

I enjoyed the first book in the series but really liked this one even more. I connected with Bing and Alexa. Bing is a good guy who cares too much but pretends to not care at all. He wants to feel the connection to others but feels inadequate. Alexa has insecurities and fears too and her still going for it with Bing is really touching. They overcome so much to be together.

I am really looking forward to the other books in the series. Brodie has his own secrets yet to be revealed but he is not untouched by the past either. There are a lot of stories to be told and we get some hints of what is to come for some of them.

I received a copy in return for a honest review.

This is a ‘one-clicker’, no hesitation!
(I did receive a free copy of this story for an honest review)
If you enjoyed Ridgway’s Light My Fire, then Love Her Madly is a no brainer purchase. Bing Maddox is HAWT!! The second book in the Rock Royalty series focuses on Rock Prince, Bing Maddox, twin of Brody (also hot, but this is not his story, lol) and brother to Cilla who was the heroine in Light My Fire.
Bing is the ‘bad twin’, the one who refuses to play any other role with women other than an understood he’s only looking for good times. Like the other children of the rock band, Velvet Lemons, Bing has bad memories of his childhood, including his one failed attempt to being a white knight to a friend. He is just as scarred as the others and does not see it in his DNA to hold a serious relationship.
Alexa Alessio is Bing’s brother’s BFF and she’s held a secret crush on Bing for as long as she’s known him. However, she is well aware of how painful love can be and is doing her best to keep her distance from Bing. Karma prevails, however, and Alexa needs a fake boyfriend to attend wedding festivities with her and none other than trouble himself steps forward to help.
Mix in a meddling Italian family and the rest of the Velvet Lemon tribe and you’ve got one fun read! I loved this second book, probably more than the first as Bing pretty much refuses to let anyone focus on anything other than him. I didn’t finish this in one sitting, but my mind definitely stayed on the story. The background to these Velvet Lemon kids is such a story in itself and makes you want to know more about what they went through and empathize with their relationship struggles. (Not a spoiler, but reading this book will definitely have you wanting Brody’s story, too.)
I am hooked! This can be read as a standalone, but you’ll then want to go back and read Ren and Cilla’s story, just cause….

Rolling Stone magazine once dubbed the nine collective children of the most famous band in the world “Rock Royalty,” years ago. All the princes and princesses are coming back to L.A.’s Laurel Canyon now that they are all grown up. They are also trying to discover if love can be found among the ruins of their childhoods that was steeped in sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll.

Bing Maddox is the “bad twin”. Alexa Alessio is his brother’s BFF and Bing has wanted her for months but he has stayed away because of his jaded soul and because she is too hearts-and-family. He has buried his guilt after a good deed turned to a dark regret. Since then he has also had a series of forgettable flings with women that want nothing more than some fun. He gives into his urges when Alexa needs a plus one for some upcoming wedding events. As he pursues her he goes all out to get her into his bed.

Alexa Alessio was being smart and keeping herself separate from Bing who is seen-everything, done-everything and wildly sexy then somehow she is suddenly agreeing to letting Bing be her date. She wants back-up as her cousin marries Alexa’s stolen ex but Bing has made it clear he wants her in his bed. Her common sense tells her that with Bing being commitment-phobic when he moves on her heart will be broken even if her heart is saying yes. Now she is going to have to see if she can hold him after having him.

This is proving to be a very interesting and good series. Seeing how the different “Rock Royalty” goes about finding their happy ever afters when they never thought they could have one let alone would even want one makes for some great reading. The characters are engaging and seeing them overcome their pasts to find the happiness they have a chance at pulls the reader in and will have readers hoping each one of the Rock Royalty finds lasting happiness. While the first two books can be read as stand alones the stories are much better if they are read in order.

What a fun series. These are the stories of The Velvet Lemons children who were raised in the member’s compound by a groupie named Gwen. Each of these nine children has a story that wants to be told. Each person also has issues from their somewhat off the wall lifestyle and Ms. Ridgeway is here to tell their stories.
This is the second story Love Her Madly. It takes on Bing and Alexa’s (Lex) journey. Alexa lived next door and became best friends with Bing’s twin brother Brody. Alexa has always dealt with weight issues and a good girl image while Bing has a big commitment issue. He likes those one night stands.
They are brought together because Alexa needs a date for her ex’s wedding to her cousin…are you still with me? Personally I wouldn’t attend especially since he cheated on Alexa with her cousin. But, I guess we each do what we have to.
This was another very sexy, steamy and hot read. Ms. Ridgeway gave us the POV from both Bing and Alexa which was smooth and easy to follow. It is interesting flipping back and forth. The chemistry was there from the beginning but Bing had issues with Alexa’s good girl image. Alexa even though she struggled with her past she was able to grab onto her inner strength and show Bing that she could be a little bit bad for the right person. I think she actually liked it. Being able to let go…
I liked these two as they proved that there is always hope when you find your match along with showing that everyone has battles that they have to overcome and we should never assume too much.
Ms. Ridgeway once again made characters that were easy to relate too with real issues that we all face. I really enjoyed Bing and Alexa’s journey. I also enjoy how the rest of the characters are woven into the stories so that we get to know them before the next story. They become family this way making them more realistic.

"I need all your sweetness and sunshine."
Alexa is the too-good-to-be-true girl next door. Her heart is so full and forgiving, yet there are so many things missing in her life. Especially a man. A good/bad man.
Bing Maddox is Alexa's neighbor and twin to Brody, Alexa's best friend. One day as he's rummaging around his brother's frig, Lex comes in on a rant. She lets all of her frustrations out of the man whose very attractive behind is hanging out of the frig. Without turning around, Bing tries to let Alexa know he's not Brody, but she continues spouting off about "fascinators" for her cousin Drea's wedding. Drea stole Alexa's fiance, her wedding plans, and to top it off, she stole the idea of the "fascinators" for the bridesmaids to wear. She goes on about how she needs a date for all of the wedding events. Not him (Brody) because everyone knows they are just friends. Slowly Bing turns around and says he'll be her date. Alexa quickly backtracks and says she takes back her offer.
Bing and Brody grew up as Rock Royalty. That means their childhood was really messed up: filled with sex, drugs and rock and roll from a very young age. Thus, Bing and Brody feel as though they can never lead a normal life and there are too many dark corners in their lives. But Lex knows the guys have lots of goodness inside and she's willing to help them, especially Bing, find that goodness.
This is a HOT book! The characters are deep and in need of the TLC.

Love Her Madly by Christie Ridgway is the second book in the Rock Royalty series. I probably said this in the review of Light My Fire but this is not a series I thought I would like since stories of celebrity romance has never been my first or second choice in reading. However, I was hooked in the first book and Ms. Ridgeway continues to reel me in with Love Her Madly.

Two adults who grew up together in a unique and emotional challenging environment accidently wind up together is this story in a nutshell. Alexa and Bing are together to attend a wedding. The wedding, then Alexa and Bing attending together reads like something out of a gossip magazine. Totally ridiculous but believable in the world of rock singers or Hollywood, so there is a comical edge to it along with the dark.

Alexa is a delightful character even with her hang-ups over past weight issues and her “good girl image”. Bing is a little harder to like but he is also a deeply complex character. His flaws are much more in your face leaving him to be a tortured ant-hero. Always there is hope. When everything is resolved in the end, I appreciated the need shown for Bing to continue to grow out of his destructive habits.

Ms. Ridgeway gives me a peek into a world uniquely different from my Southern middle class experiences. Sometimes I don’t know whether to envy or pity these children of the rich and famous. She does make me come to care for them, hoping that each one will find peace in their life and love to see them through.

I loved the love story of Bing, the 'bad twin,' and Alexa. Like all of the offspring of the Velvet Lemons, Bing had hang-ups and issues due to missing mothers and famous fathers who didn't raise their kids but exposed them to all the negatives of "love, sex, and rock-n-roll." Alexa had her own past traumas and present issues. I couldn't believe her family was so nonchalant and accepting of the fact that Alexa's first cousin Drea slept with Alexa's fiance while she was out of town; a fiance who rapidly dumped her and then became engaged to the cousin, and the family thought of course Alexa should be a bridesmaid in the cousin's big wedding!!! Bing's twin Brody (the "good" twin) is Alexa's guy BFF (and actually her only friend). Through a case of temporary mistaken identity, Bing becomes the man who'll accompany Alexa to all wedding-related events to save her pride and help her restrain her impulses to pummel her cousin. The thing is, there's always been a secret attraction between Bing and Alexa, but neither one wants to act on it. Bing, because he feels Alexa deserves better plus he doesn't trust love; Alexa because she doesn't trust love and she knows Bing's bad-boy reputation. But some things are just meant to be... I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and am looking forward to reading the others in the series. It's fun guessing whose book among the other Velvet Lemons offspring will be next. I was wrong about whose story this would be. It's up for grabs as to whether Brody, Cami, or maybe even Reed or (less likely Walsh) will be next.

This is the story of Bing Maddox and Alexa Alessio. These two characters could not have been raised more differently. While Bing, his twin brother, Brody and the rest of the Rock Royalty were living a hedonistic, rock and roll lifestyle, Alexa was surrounded by a large, loving family.
Bing still feels responsible for things that he witnessed and participated in when he was growing up, so he doesn't feel like he deserves to love and be loved.
Alexa's family runs a bridal shop and although she's surrounded by all that love, she doesn't want to Love to the Marrow (her family's motto). When her fiance leaves her for her cousin, she needs to prove to her family, and everyone else, that she is fine and doesn't need to be pitied. Alexa mistakenly vents her frustration to Bing, instead of her best friend, Brody. This prompts Bing to volunteer to be her escort to all of her cousin's wedding plans.
Bing and Alexa have a fierce attraction to each other, but have been warned to not get involved by Brody. Of course, these warnings aren't heeded and that leads to some very hot and steamy activities. Luckily for the reader, Ms. Ridgway knows how to balance the hot moments with sweet and funny ones.
I'm truly enjoying this series about the kids of The Velvet Lemons. I will be waiting eagerly for the rest of the Rock Royalty books.

description

Alexa Alessio confides in her best friend Brody Maddox with everything. So, it isn’t surprising that one day she barges into his home in a full-fledged rant about her crazy family. This rant is different from the rest when, after talking to his naked back, she realizes that she’s slightly attracted to this Brody standing in front of her – that is, until he turns around and it all makes sense when she sees it’s his twin, Bing Maddox. Bad boy Bing has never had that connection with Alexa but isn’t about to cut her off when he sees how frustrated she is.

Between Bing and Brody Maddox, Bing is the bad twin who has wanted the best friend of his brother for a while. Besides being the best friend, knowing that she’s the relationship type has held him back because he knows that’s what she deserves. After an accidental run in, Bing has made a commitment to Alexa in accompanying her to upcoming wedding events with no knowledge of what it could possibly lead to. These two fight their attraction, but when they finally give in they’re on a different footing...

Alexa Alessio is furious. She’s a bridesmaid in her cousin’s wedding, the cousin who stole Alexa’s design for the fascinators the bridesmaids are to wear—the same cousin who stole Alexa’s fiancé. Standing in her kitchen, she’s venting her anger and frustration on her running partner Brody. Instead, it’s his twin brother Bing. Bing Maddox is the bane of her existence and she can’t escape fast enough. However, she needs someone to escort her to the prenuptial festivities and to the wedding. Lex doesn’t want to be as attracted to Bing as she is, not realizing how much he wants her. Bing doesn’t do forever, only one-nighters. A fiery encounter leaves him wanting more despite his inner conflict to the contrary. The days approaching the wedding are torcher for both as they are constantly thrown together.

The second entry in Ridgway’s Rock Royalty series is gritty and raw as the second progeny of the Velvet Lemon rock group nine children finds his happy ever after. Bing is broken and it takes Alexa’s gentle heart to fix him. I enjoyed this book because it could have become maudlin and didn’t. Instead it is passionate and sexy. This is a series to explore.

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I LOVE Alexa Alessio, the lead character in this book. She's smart and compassionate, and trying to be the sensible one in her family's wedding business. Her cousin stole her fiance and is now stealing her dream wedding. Her cousin had health problems in the past so the entire family is treating the whole situation with kid gloves, and poor Alexa is stuck in the middle.

To try to smooth things over, her best friend's twin brother Bing steps in to play her new beau during the family get-togethers. He's intrigued by Alexa and her family, but Bing's upbringing could go on a poster for messed-up childhoods. In fact, much of it was since he's part of a family of rock royalty.

Bing would like to get to know Alexa better, but he's nervous. He has a lot of guilt from his childhood and he's not sure he deserves Alexa and the loving family that comes with her. As Alexa gets to know Bing better, she realizes that despite the damage her ex did to her ego, Bing is worth taking another chance.

The dance between these two characters is believable and you understand the hesitancy that both bring to their relationship, despite their strong attraction. Alexa's family is charming and brought a lot of color to the story as well. It was a very enjoyable read!

Love her Madly will drive you mad...with laughter, lust and love!

The 2nd in the Rock Royalty series by Christie Ridgway, this book introduces Bing (the bad twin) and Alexa. Alexa is a fiesty italian who begins the story furious about her cousin's wedding...to her ex-fiance. Thinking Bing is Brody (his twin who is Alexa's BFF) she goes on a rant about girly things completey perplexing poor Bing who is trying to wrap his mind around why she is finally talking to him. Bing Maddox is the bane of her libido and she can’t escape fast enough. However, she needs someone to escort her to the prenuptial festivities and to the wedding, she cannot possibly go alone, considering. Lex doesn’t want to be as attracted to Bing as she is, not realizing how much he wants her. Bing doesn’t do forever, only one-nighters. A fiery encounter leaves him wanting more despite his inner conflict to the contrary.

This book is a fun, sexy read full of shared vulnerabilities that creates characters you find yourself rooting for. The book also conitnues to reveal the Velvet Lemon kids and their struggle and joy with becoming a tribe that is coming together to heal from a dysfuncitional headonistic childhood.

A must read!

I enjoyed Love Her Madly, the second book of the Rock Royalty series. This is the story of Alexa Alessio and “bad twin” Bing Maddox. Alexa is from a large Italian family and has some self-esteem issues. She is a character that is easy to relate to. Then there is Bing. He is essentially a one-night stand type of guy who sees himself as the bad twin, though the reader never gets to see him that way. He is essentially a guy who feels tainted by his past. The book was good, it flowed well. I loved the dialogue between the two main characters. The only issue that I had with this book was that you were supposed to see Alexa and Brody as best friends, but I just felt like if they were truly best friends then she would know a lot more about him and interact a lot more. I felt like we barely saw Brody, who is supposed to be such a huge part of both their lives. Overall, I greatly enjoyed the book and felt that it flowed well though it may have resolved itself to easily for some, but since you never really see Bing as bad as he sees himself I think this is easy for the reader to overcome and does not detract from the story.

I was looking forward to reading Bing's story, and although I was a little surprised at first that Alexa was his heroine, they really fit together well. I assumed that Cilla's perception was correct, but she was on the outside seeing what most people might assume, that the girl is actually in love with her best friend. At times it gets a little old that there are so many characters in books that think they don't deserve love or long term relationships or that they won't work out. Alexa's thoughts on relationships were a bit weird, bit Christie made it work and in the end I enjoyed the story as the characters worked their way through their issues to come together. I was hoping though that more might come out about about the mystery kid and Ren's strange memories. It's weird that nothing has come out of that and I hope that comes up more in the rest of the series to come. I can't wait to learn what is going on with Brody and with Cami. It will also be fun to read about Reed, because who doesn't love a reclusive grump!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Bing and Alexa! They are both drawn to each other but Alexa is in denial and keeps it hidden. Bing didn't know that Alexa was drawn to him until she gets into a predicament that Bing helps her out with. He agrees to be her date to her cousin's and ex-fiance's wedding. They are pretending to date and Alexa is trying to hold back and not show that she wants him or likes him and Bing is trying to get Alexa to give in. He has wanted her since they met but she has always been standoffish with him. Bing doesn't realize how much he truly cares for Alexa and it takes quite awhile for him to realize what he feels. I enjoyed the way that this story progressed and how they interacted. The story flows very well and has more than enough to keep your attention. The sex is explicit and hot when they get there and in the meantime there is a lot of sexual tension.
I also loved getting to see the rest of the Rock Royalty. This series is very interconnected and it will increase your enjoyment if you have read the first installment in the series but you do not need to have read it to fully enjoy this one.

This is the second book in the series about the "Rock Royalty", the progeny of the band "Velvet Lemons", who were all raised on a compound owned by their famous fathers. However, for various reasons, they were all motherless, except for the presence of Gwen, a groupie who had lived on the compound, in her own little cottage.
Under these conditions, the kids all grew up with "issues". In this episode, the twins Bing and Brody, not only have a business together, but live on the same street, separate by the home of Alexis. Brody is Alexis's best friend; however, it is Bing that she is attracted to. Out of character, Bing offers to be Alexis's escort to her cousin's wedding; her cousin is marrying Alexis's ex-fiance. Alexis also has "issues", dating back to when she was run over by her brother's girlfriend. Not too give any spoilers away, Bing is drawn into her family and realizes that he is not only lovable, but can also love, which is what all the "Royalty will be learning in this series. Ridgway imagines intersting characters and brings them to life.
