Romance on steroids
I don’t read much erotica, much less review novels of that genre. It’s not that I dislike or have anything against the genre, it just wasn’t at the top of my preferred reading list. Until I discovered Candi Silk. I won’t bother commenting on style, language, or word choice, since none of that speaks to the core essence of what Candi’s novels are all about, demonstrated once again with typical passionate heat in the just released Thrill Driven.
As the title aptly implies, Candi explores the thrill of unleashing our sexual and sensual selves. Of pushing the boundaries of sexual desire and discovery, seen almost exclusively through the eyes of female characters who are well adjusted consenting adults, who lead successful lives, and who have healthy mature relationships. But who may find themselves missing that one important ingredient. This is a deliberate device to dispel conventional stereotypes and explore the sexual desires and appetites of women, as defined by the women themselves, a recurring theme in Candi Silk’s writing.
There isn’t much plot, but there is an emotional dimension surrounding the characters, which provides a context for the physical and explicit sexual escapades occupying most of the story. I’d have liked more of that emotional layering in the characters, but that’s just me, and in the end, Thrill Driven is still a thrilling ride.
