What if everyone in the world found out who their soulmates are at the same time?
Olivia Adler’s life is a behind-the-scenes job she loves in a bustling newsroom, an engagement to golden-boy Wells, and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to create the documentary she’s always wanted to make.
Then one sleepless night, everything unravels. One message on Wells’s phone shatters her engagement. A second message—an anonymous global email quickly dubbed Soulmail—shakes the world.
Delivered to every individual’s inbox, Soulmail reveals the name and birthdate of your soulmate. Suddenly, love as we know it is rewritten overnight…and Olivia accidentally becomes the face of it all when she reports on the story live and goes viral.
With millions watching her every move, Olivia resolutely refuses to open her Soulmail. She’s not ready for fate to make her choices—especially not now. But when she crosses paths with her childhood best friend—the boy she loved and lost—everything she thought she knew about destiny, timing, and love comes into question.
Is true love written in the stars…or something we choose for ourselves?
Speculative fiction is outside of my normal genres, but I had a good time reading Your Soulmail is Attached.
Overnight, people around the world receive an email revealing the name and birthdate of their soulmate. Everything changes and FMC Olivia becomes the unexpected face of the aftermath, sharing the story on social media and TV news.
The reveal poses interesting questions: Would you open yours? What happens if it’s not who you thought it would be? What if it’s a platonic soulmate? What if they haven’t been born or have already died?
I’ll be thinking about this one for a while! Also, I both love and hate that we don’t find out the origins of the emails… 🤔
Thanks to MIRA and NetGalley for the e-ARC! All opinions are my own.

Olivia Adler's life is almost perfect: she's about to marry her wealthy fiance, she has a great best friend, and is hoping that one day she'll get a chance to produce the kinds of documentaries she went to college to study. But her life is turned upside down when she wakes up to find that her fiance has cheated on her and that she's been called into the TV news show that she writes for to fill in for the usual anchors because every adult in the world has received an email telling them who their soulmate is. In the months that follow, Olivia finds herself the new face of the "Soulmail" phenomenon, reconnects with a childhood friend, and has to figure out whether she can forgive her cheating fiance. All while choosing to not open her own Soulmail.
I thought this was a clever twist on the "everyone receives the same information across the world" subgenre of speculative fiction. If you're someone who enjoys romance stories and liked a book like THE MEASURE, I think you'll enjoy this.
Your Soulmail Is Attached comes out April 14, 2026
What would you do if you received an anonymous email telling you who your soulmate is? That's the question everyone in this world asked themselves when they found soulmail in their inbox.
This tale was told from the perspective of Olivia who was propelled from behind the scenes to in front of the camera when filling in as news program host at the last minute. This instant fame accompanied discovering her fiancé was having an affair. While her personal and professional worlds were changing, so was the world at large. The soulmate emails were infiltrating all areas of life, and it became Olivia's job to report on it.
The concept of this book reminded me of several I have read, most notably, The Measure. Your Soulmail Is Attached leaned a bit lighter as pondering the idea of a soulmate is not as heavy as how long you will live, but it was interesting to think about how people dealt with access to this information. Did they want to know? How would it affect their current relationships? What would be considered a soulmate? How would dating and marriage change? I thought Smith did a great job looking at this from all different angles. This made up most of the first part of the book.
I felt like the book switched gears at one point and began to focus more on Olivia. The story felt a little different. Not bad, just different. Olivia found herself in quite a situation, and she had many big decisions to make. There were aspects that made things difficult for her, but I was crossing my fingers that she would make the right choices all along.
Overall: Your Soulmail Is Attached was an interesting and thought provoking exploration of the idea of soulmates and how having access to this information could affect one's life.
Thank you to Harlequin Audio for the ALC of this book, narrated by Mia Hutchinson-Shaw.
If the world got an email blast (text message, or even telegram if technology isn't available) with the name and birthdate of your soul mate, would you read it, or would you chose to stay in the dark and continue life as you know it?
Y'all, I ATE this book up! This entire concept of the book had me hooked from the start, and I found myself wanting to only read this book just to see how it would end.
At 3am EST the entire planet (those that have reached the age of majority in their country/culture) received information that contained their soul mate. This news, naturally could change every single aspect of how the world works; i.e. peach between nations, vast numbers of divorces, violence, complete happiness, and upheaval of life as we know it. Would you be one to open yours right away, or would you prefer to wait it out? What if you found our your partner's soul mate wasn't you? What if you found out that your soul mate was a friend, your child, or your parent? This means, that not all soul mates are of the romantic nature that we are so often told is the truth.
Our FMC, Olivia sees an incriminating text message on her fiancé's phone mere minutes before her boss is calling her at the news station demanding that she come in to break the news to NYC, as a broadcaster, when she has only ever worked behind the scenes in research for the station. This, and many other events, catapults her into a whirlwind life that has changed in the blink of an eye.
I could probably talk about this book all day long, but I don't want to give any further spoilers, so you'll just have to read this one for yourself! I'd absolutely love to hear anyone else's thoughts on this book!
This concept for this immediately grabbed me! The idea that everyone in the world would receive an email revealing their soulmate at the exact same time is my kindddd of thing. I’ve since learned this is considered speculative fiction, which is a term I hadn't heard before but is apparently very much my jam.
The story starts off really strong, and I was super into the premise and the bigger questions it raises about fate, choice, and what love actually means. I especially liked that the idea of non-romantic soulmates was included. There was a lot in here that felt interesting and had a lot of potential.
I enjoyed spending time with Olivia and liked the Morning Show-esque vibe of this as well.
That said… this started to drag for me quite a bit in the middle. I found myself getting bored and wishing for more tension and/or passion in the romantic storyline(s). The writing itself is solid, and there is a big twist near the end that definitely surprised me, but at that point it felt a little too late to fully redeem the issues I had with pacing.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narrator! She felt natural and her emotions came through perfectly. Laughs felt genuine, etc. Which added to the experience for me.
Overall, I appreciate how different this felt and I’m glad I read it. Personally, I would have loved more romance and emotional intensity, but I still found a lot to like here. Personal growth, family and friend dynamics, and career conversations. And as a girl born and raised on the Cape, I loved feeling like I was home for a little bit!
This was a 3.5 star read for me that I'm rounding up.
Edit: I forgot to say! Thank you to Netgalley, Harlequin Audio, HarperCollins, and Joan F. Smith for the ALC!

Breaking news: everyone across the world has received communication telling them the name and birthdate of their soulmate. Do you open it? Where did these come from? How will this effect life as we know it? It could be revolutionary, or it could be a disaster.
Working behind the scenes at a TV news outlet, Olivia finds herself thrust into the spotlight when she is the only one available to stand in as anchor for this breaking news. By the way, this happens only moments after finding out her fiance cheated on her. What does her soulmail have to say about that?
I am loving speculative fiction! This novel gives food for thought about the true meaning of love and the various definitions of soulmates. It also does a character dive into how Olivia's life changes with her new popularity, her past and current connections, family struggles, and ultimately what to do about her soulmail.
Speculative fiction is one of my favorite genres. I love the ideas presented in this book. The blurb does an excellent job of summarizing and getting you excited to read it. Olivia is our main character, and we get to follow her through the best and worst moments of this experience, starting with the night before she receives her soulmail. I love Olivia's sudden thrust into the limelight and the sudden changes, fish-out-of water element. The overall plot is pretty satisfying. We have some mysteries at the end, opportunities that would be interesting to explore in the future, and yet I walked away feeling like I got the full story from Olivia's perspective. What made me mark this as three stars rather than higher is that I felt like it dragged on. 20% of the book felt like it could have been cut. However, this might be the author's storytelling style. So, amazing ideas and storyline, but the pacing wasn't my favorite.
This will be a great book club read for 2026, provoking lots of discussion, and the first few chapters were unputdownable as our heroine Olivia discovers her fiance is cheating on her just before the whole world receives mysterious messages listing their soulmates, which forces her job at daily news show to throw her into the anchor chair as the regular anchors and backups are unavailable or sick. Olivia's newfound celebrity brings her childhood best friend/lost love back in her life, and the book is semi juicy celebrity tale and complicated romance also. My one issue is there was alot of weird AI usage by her one love interest, who is a museum curator, which made little sense.
This book was a lot of fun and I really loved the overall premise! It felt like a rom-com version of The Morning Show. However, I was hoping for a bit more romance between Olivia and Caleb in the story itself; although I guess this book isn’t technically marketed as a romance novel! I also think that’s probably why the middle chunk of the story felt so slow paced for me. I just wanted to jump into the romance/HEA for our characters instead of focusing on the rest of the storyline. I also was expecting more from “the big reveal” as opposed to the plot twist that actually happened. Overall, I think it was still a good story that a lot of people will love!
Thank you so much to MIRA, HTP Hive, and Netgalley for the advanced copy!
Olivia is engaged, happy with her job, and looking forward to her wedding. But when everyone receives an email with their true soul-mate, everything changes. her career pivots, as does her relationship.
Some people find that their soul mate is - not who they are married to - someone not alive yet - someone who already passed - someone who just cheated on you - your parent - your best friend
The world struggles with their results as some people's lives are turned upside down, and others thrive because they always know.
This was a fun spin on the question of whether soul mates are real.

I loved this book. I loved the idea behind it. It was so unique. Like, what if we all got an email with our soulmate--what if it wasn't someone who was in our life yet--would it dictate our behavior? Would be seek out a new partner? This is such a great concept and gets you thinking about what makes a good match and how we move forward with information that we have. Would our lives change today if we knew what was to come tomorrow? This was well-written and I felt like I couldn't put it down (and stayed up way too late reading it).
Thank you so much, Netgalley and Harliquin for this gifted copy.
The concept of this story is so unique and intriguing! Imagine — everyone in the world receives a letter or email revealing who their soulmate is. That premise alone is fascinating and instantly draws you in. I really enjoyed reading it, though I did find the writing a bit on the wordy side.
I had the honor of reading, or inhaling, an advanced copy of this book. What a story, what a super star author. Besides the premise being so creative and propulsive, this story hums with pitch perfect dialogue and plenty of twists and turns. A forever favorite
